The podcast where we take a critical look at the movies your kids are watching without your supervision.
In time for Easter we are rereleasing the episode about a movie about a giant rabbit that sneaks around a town. Close enough, right?
In preparation for our next series where we will be focusing on dog movies, here's an episode about Bolt. The Disney dog movie that no one saw.
Finally! Our last forgotten Disney movie. Thank you for sticking with us on this journey.
After an unexpectedly long hiatus we are returning with a doozy of a new episode. Don't watch this movie. Especially don't watch it with your children. You have been warned.
Well January was a bust, both of our families had COVID. So please bear with us as we release a few more relevant repeats.
Well January was a bust, both of our families had COVID. So please bear with us as we release a few more relevant repeats. Today we talk about a random assortment of just weird ass Disney stuff. Content warning, we talk about coronavirus to start off and end. If you want to avoid hearing about it right now skip to 12:20 and stop listening at 57:24. We should also say that we recorded this episode two weeks ago and as our world has rapidly evolved in that time some of our information is wrong. Lastly, we will be going on hiatus after this episode to give ourselves one less thing to juggle during this time. We will be back on May 4th with The Secret Life of Pets. Stay safe and healthy everyone, we love you.
This week we are going to try to unlock the mysteries of movie ratings- how they are assigned and what they mean. Visit us at latchkeymovies.com for complete show notes.
This week we drop the F bomb a lot, talk about the magical secret of Santa and are slightly uncomfortable about how Kurt Russell in a white beard makes us feel. Correction: the Disney movie that brings up questions about Santa is Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas, in the episode we say it's Twice Upon a Christmas. It is the Max and Goofy storyline though. Can you believe we found another Thanksgiving movie? We sure can't. Join us as we talk about flying turkeys and Star Trek.
A re-release of what should be a holiday classic: We found a Thanksgiving movie and it's surprisingly okay. Warning that there is some talk of the magic of Santa this episode.
Does the house exist? What even is rum raisin ice cream? Is Donald Duck a ghost? These are just some of the many questions we have about this movie.
A re-release of The Nightmare Before Christmas to kick off spooky season.
This movie is actually good. Trust us, we'll explain why.
In this episode we're talking Disney politics, subtext, science, and a little bit about Meet the Robinsons too.
Treasure Planet; a movie a lot of people wanted, with a lot of problems worth talking about. In this episode we cover some of them.
In true forgotten movies fashion we forgot to edit a new episode for this week. So please enjoy this re-release of Onward, which we are pretty sure will be joining the ranks of the Disney forgotten movies.
This episode is short and sweet- we actually liked this movie! Note- we got our release order mixed up and talk about releasing Atlantis after this episode. Sorry!
It's not as bad as Happy Feet, but it's not very good either.
We are taking a break for Father's Day but enjoy this re-release of one of our first forgotten Disney movie episodes.
We have made it to 50 episodes and to celebrate we are finally going back and redoing Coco.
We recorded this episode almost a year ago and then...forgot about it. What can we say? Spring 2020 was an odd time. Luckily we remembered it just in time for St Patrick's Day, so enjoy our totally on purpose episode about Ireland.
It's a short one this week because this movie is terrible in so many ways.
We pulled this one out of the very back of the vault. We recorded this episode back in May 2019 to have on hand in case of emergency. Don't worry though, we are all okay. We have just decided to take a bit of a break after the Holidays. We'll be back with new episodes in two weeks. For now, enjoy this never before released episode.
