Today we interrupt our regular K-Drama watching to deep dive a film with one of your Noonas' favs, Zo In-Sung, as he lays it all on the line (of a sword?) for love. WTF are we talking about? Well, you'll just have to watch A Frozen Flower, but you still might be scratching your head and asking yourself, "WTF?" even after you do that. So maybe just listen while we lay out all the WTFery for you, and then you can decide. Hop on board for a wild ride of palace intrigue (very little), baby-making (very much), and the questions we have about post-op recovery time and how soon is too soon to get back on the horse. Two Nerds decided to watch the Twilight Saga again, because this whole series is fascinating and enjoyable on its own terms, while also being 100% bonkers. Twilight is actually the least bananas of any of the movies (or books the movies were based on), though it still managed more than a couple moments of complete WTFery. So, to address a couple things said in this podcat: The review I mention from my Goodreads days can be found here, and Catherine Hardwicke -- the director of Twilight -- did indeed direct a film called Thirteen, about how complicated adolescence can be for girls.

Happy 4th of July, Julie! Kevin & Chris get festive with '90s teen-horror staple, I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997). To commemorate the film's 25th anniversary this year, the 'mos talk high school sweethearts, a roadtrip to the beach-gone-wrong, a hook-wielding spree killer & a whodunit mystery, an overabundance of red herrings & slickers, Sarah Michelle Gellar's star turn (+ one of the best chase sequences in horror), sexual awakenings via Ryan Phillippe, a bumpin' Independence Day parade & an off-key Croaker Queen pageant, an iconic soundtrack, Anne Heche's constant WTFery, and more. We're incredibly excited to share our 50th episode with special guest the talented and multi-hyphenate Sean Keller. He co-wrote the screenplay to Dario Argento's Giallo and last year's Into the Dark episode "All That We Destroy" but he's also a musician. His latest Halloween album called Revenge of the Killer Sounds of Halloween debuts September 22nd! Not only did we get a sneak peak but we are sharing MB and Terry's favorite song off the album "You Won't See Me." Oh yeah...and Sean ALSO created our theme song. After discussing his career, we turn our attention to Beneath the Planet of the Apes a film that surprises even in 2020 with its anti-war and anti-ignorance themes. Religions, war and anti-thought scientists get taken to task as we unpack the WTFery of it all. We cannot tell a lie...we are not fans of this one. This week, we complain about our least favorite movie to date: the absolute WTFery that is Happy Feet. A movie with realistic animated penguins (maybe too realistic), and a “big message” about conservation. We drop a lot of f-bombs but who can blame us with a film that is so full of racism, sexism, and weird covert sexual undertones? It’s possible that 2006 was a simpler time, but even so, this movie has some issues.

Whatcha Reading (March 3rd, 2018) I’m sorry about the audio quality on this one; I’m not sure what happened after I finished exporting the file. One day I will know what the hell I’m doing. Today is not that day. *sigh* I start off with some good ol’ romancelandia WTFery, thanks to a romance that Lauren found where the heroine’s dog dies and comes back as a man, whom she then falls for. WHAT. (I still do not know, but PASS!) From there, I move into some more serious topics in romancelandia, mainly the Ripped Bodice’s 2017 diversity in publishing report, which is, uh, NOT GOOD, to say the least. Finally, I'm talking about books by Lia Riley, Elyse Springer, and Kelly Bowen, including quotes and sex scenes (OF COURSE!). As always, I wrap things up with my current read and audiobook (Naima Simone and Eloisa James, respectively). Have a great weekend everyone and happy reading!
