Voy a correr el riego de ser muy sincero: Algunos me diréis que tengo manía a Tesla… pues sí. Eso no me impide valorar el mérito que supone crear una marca de éxito “de la nada” y apreciar cosas buenas en sus productos. Pero tengo manía a la gente que miente y a las marcas que engañan…2024 fue un “Annus horribilis” para Tesla… y el 2025 puede ser peor. Os anticipo algo: Elon Musk, es un tipo que se aburre rápidamente de sus “juguetes”. Dejó de preocuparse de Tesla para preocuparse por Space X, luego dejó de preocuparse por Space X para ocuparse de Twitter, a la que pudo el nombre de X, se ve que le gustan las X a este señor. Y ahora se olvida un poco de todo para ocuparse DOGE, el Departamento de Eficiencia Gubernamental, vamos, el encargado de despedir funcionarios y hacer carrera política junto con “Tramp” … o mejor Trump, como le llamáis muchos en América del Sur… Es lo que tiene que te sobre el dinero por las orejas. Si piensas que el problema de Tesla es éste, que Elon está más ocupado de la política que de su marca de coches, seguramente aciertas… pero vamos a ver en que se traduce esta desatención. Para los que pensáis que todo esto es cosa mía, que tengo manía a la marca, vamos a ver la opinión de uno de los mayores defensores e inversiones de Tesla, Ross Gerber. Este señor es presidente y director ejecutivo de Gerber Kawasaki Wealth & Investment Management, empresa de inversiones y fue uno de los primeros inversores de Tesla y de sus mayores partidarios. El 14 de marzo en una entrevista a la prestigiosa revista “Business Insider” anunció que la empresa iba a caer a plomo en 2025 porque las acciones de la empresa están sobrevaloradas… es lo mismo que dije yo hace 4 años… ¿a ver si me he equivocado de profesión y tenía que haber sido analista de bolsa? ¿Cómo estaban las cosas en 2024? Pues mal… su valor en bolsa había caído más de un 50 por ciento en 3 años, las ventas caían y el stock se acumulaba, mientras se incumplían las promesas de nuevos modelos. Hago una advertencia: Todo pasa muy rápido y escribo este guion el fin de semana de 15 y 16 de marzo de 2025… desde ahora hasta que se publique pueden pasar muchas cosas… pero lo que ha pasado, ya ha pasado. Por ejemplo, que, a 11 de marzo, en apenas dos meses y medio del año 2025, la cotización en bolsa de Tesla había caído un 43,3 por ciento. Y es que Tesla ha estado siempre sobrevalorada en bolsa, donde se cotiza no por lo que vale, sino por las expectativas… Fuga de cerebros. En concreto de dos de sus mejores diseñadores, David Imai y Bernard Lee. Desastre del Cybertruck. Hablando de este trasto, lo digo de una forma sencilla: No se vende. Apenas unas 10.000 unidades, lejísimos de las previsiones… Historial de seguridad pésimo. En un estudio reciente, de finales del 2024, el Instituto de Seguros para la Seguridad en las Carreteras (IIHS) de los USA, ofrece datos preocupantes para Tesla. Problemas de fiabilidad. Os doy otro dato de una fuente fiable, la TUV alemanas, que es como llaman a la ITV por esos lares. El titular era “Tesla supera a Dacia”, pero como vehículo menos fiable, convirtiéndose el Tesla Modelo 3 en el modelo menos fiable vendido en el mercado alemán en 2024. Falta de innovación. En 2024 decíamos, lo extraigo literalmente: “Tesla tiene una gama muy corta, de solo cuatro modelos, que en realidad son 2. Compara con cualquier otra marca y verás que esto es un verdadero problema”. Todo sigue igual. Perdida de lealtad a la marca. La marca llegó a tener un porcentaje de fidelidad a la marca del 90 por ciento en los USA, algo increíble y nunca visto y que viene a decir que los usuarios de Tesla eran verdaderos fanáticos… eran. Perdida de liderazgo. Es probable que en 2025 Tesla deje de ser líder en la venta de coches eléctricos. En 2024 Tesla vendió 1,78 coches eléctricos. BYD llegó a los 1,76 millones. Mala imagen de marca. La deriva política de Elon Musk afecta a la imagen de la marca. Ha pasado de ser la marca de imagen progresista que representaba el modernismo a ser “el coche oficial de trumpismo” … Pérdida de valor como coche usado. Si tienes un Tesla usado y lo quieres vender… malas noticias. Te van a pagar menos. ¡Hasta un 50 por ciento menos en los USA! Subida de aranceles. La guerra de los aranceles afecta a Tesla de dos maneras. Por un lado, encarece los productos importados, pero por otro encarece los productos fabricados en los USA, porque según la propia marca “ciertas piezas y componentes son difíciles o imposibles de obtener dentro de Estados Unidos".

Geoff Thompson from the British and Irish Film Festival joins us to share insights about the festival's highly anticipated Spring Edition, running from 18th - 22nd March. Volvemos una vez más con el coche eléctrico, según algunos el coche del futuro… pues no. Personalmente pienso que es más el coche del presente que el coche del futuro… y no, no me he vuelto loco, pero es que el coche eléctrico tiene muchos enemigos, técnicos, comerciales y ahora, además, geopolíticos. Para los que me consideráis un “petrolhead” siento deciros que os equivocáis de medio a medio. Como aficionado confieso que el sonido de un buen motor térmico y las sensaciones que ofrece me resultan muy placenteras… pero como periodistas, tengo que tener la mente más abierta y por eso digo que el coche eléctrico es más el coche del presente que el coche del futuro… ¿por qué? Muy sencillo: Porque como coche urbano, hoy por hoy, no tiene rival. Y no solo es el silencio, la falta de emisiones allí donde se usa y la comodidad de conducción, es que el tipo de uso urbano la va como anillo al dedo a un coche eléctrico. Os aseguro que por muchas razones, el futuro del automóvil no es el coche eléctrico… os pido vuestra opinión, pero antes os pido que escuchéis mis argumentos… ¡que son muchos! Aparte de los citados hay más motivos que hacen de los coches eléctricos ideales para ciudad. Primero: no necesitas gran autonomía, porque por ciudad es imposible hacer muchos kilómetros: Según “Mundotaxi” en Madrid recorren algo más de 200 km. Un dato clave.Segundo: No necesitas mucha potencia, pues la mayor parte de la potencia se emplea en vencer la resistencia al aire y si no pasas de 50 km/h, limite habitual en una ciudad, no vas a requerir muchos caballos. Aunque vayas a la ciudad desde las afueras, tampoco podrás correr mucho en las vías de circunvalación. Tercero: el tipo de uso. Porque en un coche térmico lo que gatas para poner el coche a 50 km/h no lo recuperas cuando paras en el siguiente semáforo. En un eléctrico, o en un híbrido, sí. Pero es que además el rendimiento energético de un motor, es decir, la parte de la energía que se emplea en mover el coche, se acerca al 90 por ciento y con un motor térmico no supera el 25 por ciento. Y cuarto: Suma de todo ello, un coche eléctrico urbano puede llevar baterías ligeras y pequeñas. Como consecuencia, puede ser un coche relativamente ligero, verdadero “Talón de Aquiles” de los eléctricos. No os descubro nada si os digo que vivimos en un Mundo global. Así que si eres de los que piensa que no te importa nada la victoria de “Tramp”, o “Trump” como decís muchos Hispanoamericanos… pues es que no te enteras. Soy un ecologista convencido y para mí el calentamiento global es un hecho… pero Europa no lo puede hacer frente por su cuenta. Os doy datos de la propia UE: La Unión Europea emite en su conjunto 3.222 millones de toneladas de C02… una barbaridad. Pero es que nos supera India, los USA casi la duplican y China emite… agarraos… 15.944 millones de toneladas de CO2, cerca de 5 veces más que nosotros. Europa debe liderar la protección al medio ambiente, pero liderarla no es ponerse una soga al cuello. La estrategia de la movilidad eléctrica perjudica a Europa y beneficia, justamente, al mayor emisor de C02… ¡tócate las narices! Por no decir otra cosa. Y “Tramp” o Trump ha decidido perforar… se podría traducir “pinchar”, más en los USA, aunque sea con el peligroso método del “Fracking” para bajar el precio del petróleo, lo que hará más competitivo a los modelos tradicionales de motor térmico y a los híbridos. Seguimos con la geopolítica y vamos a hablar de materias primas. Y con datos provenientes de una fuente fiable, la Agencia Internacional de la Energía o AIE, que nos cuenta que no hay materias primas para tanto coche eléctrico. El coche eléctrico es un consumidor brutal de recursos, como las famosas tierras raras. Según la AIE para conseguir el objetivo de emisiones fijado para 2050 tendríamos que tener la bonita cifra de 2.000 millones de coches eléctricos… sencillamente, hoy por hoy, las materias primas no paran de subir… lo que hará que los eléctricos, a medio plazo suban de precio y no bajen. He metido este asunto en geopolítica porque a lo mejor esto te abre los ojos sobre el repentino interés de Trump en Groenlandia. Hablemos ahora de motivos comerciales para que los coches eléctricos no sean el futuro. Hablemos de subvenciones. Noruega ya eliminó las ayudas a la compra de coches eléctricos, ahora lo harán previsiblemente los USA y otros muchos vendrán detrás. Sin ayudas, los coches eléctricos se venderán menos… en realidad menos aún. En España según los propios fabricantes, apenas llegan el 5 por ciento del total. Pero hay algo más grave: Según un estudio elaborado por la consultora McKinsey & Company uno de cada tres compradores de coche eléctricos lo cambiaría por uno híbrido o térmico en su próxima compra. Dato que contrasta con que alrededor de un 25 por ciento de usuarios de coches térmicos cambiaria su coche por un eléctrico… Y esto con ayudas… ¿Y sin ayudas? En realidad, dejo para el final la mejor noticia y es que los coches con la llamada “pila de combustible” son ya una realidad. Primero, os explico cómo son. La reacción del hidrogeno con el oxígeno tiene como resultado energía eléctrica y vapor de agua. Con esa electricidad mueves el motor y tienes una batería relativamente pequeña para el coche funcione como un hibrido, recuperando energía en las frenadas y retenciones y para guardar la energía que te pueda sobrar, como hace ahora mismo ya los híbridos de Renault cuando le sobre potencia a su motor térmico y carga las baterías. El resultado es que el coche solo emite vapor de agua, es decir, emisiones contaminantes cero. Como un eléctrico. Pero con una diferencia: Si utilizas el llamado “Hidrogeno Verde” que se consigue con energías renovables o se extrae directamente, el coche de hidrogeno no contamina nada. BMW, Hyundai y Toyota tienen muy adelantados estos trabajos y de hecho te puedes comprar mañana mismo un Toyota Mirai o un Hyundai Nexo movidos por hidrogeno. Así las cosas, el presente son los coches urbanos eléctricos y los híbridos, a ser posible enchufables, para todo uso. Alucino los consumos que en ciudad consigue mi pareja con un simple Renault Clio Híbrido, en torno a los 4 litros a los 100 km… Los grandes y caros coches eléctricos no son hoy por hoy una opción que seduzca. Y por mucho que avance la infraestructura y la técnica, el tema de la recarga no tiene fácil solución. El futuro está claro: Eléctricos en ciudad o cortos recorridos, combustible sintético para determinados modelos deportivos o clásicos, algún hibrido de gasolina o gas e hidrogeno para el resto.

We are looking forward to sharing Don + Kris Tramp's testimony today! The Tramps' oldest son Seth serves at Desert Springs as our Middle School Pastor (check out Seth's story below!). Don + Kris together and as individuals have amazing testimonies. They both share their backgrounds growing up as children of divorce and how they had to find their way into adulthood. They first met at U of A and for Kris it was love at first sight. As a young couple they began to learn more about who Jesus was and committed to each other in marriage and to Christ. The early years of marriage were wonderful but difficult financially and career-wise. Looking back. Don + Kris see how the Lord took care of them and helped them to value hard work. Don settled into his career as a teacher in the Litchfield School District and Kris loved being at home raising their two boys, Seth + Garhett. They reflect on how they grew in their love and appreciation for the church as they put roots in at a local church. In a beautiful way, Don + Kris were breaking the cycles that they grew up in, creating their own marriage and family life that was honoring to God. As a couple they were especially passionate about pouring into their boys and they share some practical things they did in raising them. This eventually spilled into their community as a series of events led them to taking in a boy with special needs that Don met at the school he worked at. If you regularly attend Desert Springs, you are probably familiar with today's guest! Seth Tramp joined us in the studio to share about what God has done in his life up until this point. Seth serves as our Middle School Pastor and has been married to his wife Ella for 3 years. We are blessed to have the Tramps as a part of our church family and staff! Seth came on staff at Desert Springs in January of this year and you'll hear as Seth shares that working in full time ministry wasn't always on his radar, but he feels he is now right where God wants him. He was raised in Buckeye and always loved working with his hands and figuring out how things worked. Seth describes that his parents set an incredible example of what a life of service looks like and shared a story about a special needs boy his parents ended up taking in while he was in high school. He also talks about a trip to Africa that gave him a deeper perspective for ministry and serving. While attending NAU Seth made the decision to join the National Guard which Seth still actively serves in. All of these events in Seth's life were leading him to a place of wanting to live a life of purpose. Life took him on some more paths including starting a career in construction, but God had other plans. We appreciate how Seth describes his walk with Christ as being intentional with plans but keeping his hands open to what God might have.
