In the 171st episode of The Main Street Electrical Podcast, Jenn & Dave cap off a busy week with a full recap of the Orlando version of the D23 Expo, this one called Destination D. Jenn is trying to plan her own trip in between her busy schedule, while Dave has finished Bob Thomas' definitive Walt bio, "Walt Disney: An American Original", and then to remember 9/11, Dave shares the story of Disney World on the morning of Sept 11, 2001 - how the parks reacted, meeting with other parks, and Cast Members funneling all the guests out of the parks. Then, they dive right into the D23 headlines and announcements, including Disneyland's new Avengers addition... Ahsoka coming to Star Tours... the possible confusion of Wish (the movie) and Wish (the ship)... Dave proudly announcing (again) that he predicted the new ship's name... DinoLand going extinct... rumors of Encanto and Indiana Jones... Moana's Journey of Water finally opening and thoughts on how people may get around... new fireworks... Plus, a discussion of Country Bear Jamboree changes, Jenn's reaction to Tough to Be a Bug going away, and Dave's take on Magic Kingdom's (non) announcements.
Jen and Frank discuss the many news items from last weekend's Destination D23 news and not at all (but maybe a little bit) about their meetup in Walt Disney World last weekend. There's a lot of hype following the big announcements at this year's Destination D23 Event at Walt Disney World. But what many have missed is that several things have changed since last year's big announcements. So what's real, what can be trusted and what's as clear as mud for the future of Walt Disney World? The Big News for Disney Parks from Destination D23 We learned as much from what was said as we did from what was not said. What's Coming to Disney's Magic Kingdom Park Hatbox Ghost will be back at the Haunted Mansion in November, but not in the way you may think. He will appear "wherever and whenever he pleases," implying that you may or may not see him on the ride and likely not in the same place each time. Country Bear Jamboree is changing, this time significantly. An all-new show is coming, complete with a whole new act and new songs. The new show will be modeled after the musical revues of Nashville, featuring some of your favorite country bears singing popular Disney hits in a variety of country music styles, including pop country, bluegrass, rockabilly and more. Disney offered a sneak peak by showing the recording session for Bear Necessities, which will be in the new show. Pirates of the Caribbean is getting new ambiance with the addition of a new tavern near the ride. Remember the Barker Bird who used to chat will guests at the entrance of Pirates of the Caribbean? He will be back and living at the new tavern, chatting it up with guests. Big questions are will this be a reimagining of Tortuga Tavern and will they be selling alcohol? What's Coming to EPCOT We know that Moana's Journey of Water is opening on October 16 (including a new location for the Moana meet and greet), but we now know that all of World Celebration will open in December. Yes, the walls are finally coming down. Bigger news is that Test Track will be undergoing another complete overhaul and update (still with Chevrolet). No dates as to when it will close and for how long, but it is time for a refresh so this is welcome news. Disney promises the new Test Track will include the best elements from the original version along with new updates that point to a future world for vehicles. World Showcase Lagoon will be getting a new nighttime show entitled Luminous: The Symphony of Us. It will debut on December 5. What Will the Future Hold for Walt Disney World Parks? It got interesting here as they teased new information, but in some cases said less than they said last year. Here's what we know. Beyond Big Thunder Mountain at Magic Kingdom still appears to be happening, but they did not mention villains or anything else specifically. It still sounds like a new land with significant size and scale and it will include attractions, restaurants, shows and more. They did say that Dinoland at Disney's Animal Kingdom Park will be reimagined into a new land themed as the tropical Americas (geographically the space between North and South America). This land will land be Encanto themed, which removes Encanto from Beyond Big Thunder, as was hinted at last year. So Encanto Moves from Magic Kingdom to Animal Kingdom. Plus, an Indiana Jones area is likely coming to Animal Kingdom, potentially where Rafiki's Planet Watch is currently located. Finally, It's Tough to be a Bug in the Tree of Life is being reimagined as a Zootopia themed attraction/show. Disney Cruise Line The seventh ship will be called the Disney Adventure. The new island stop in the Bahamas on Eleuthera will be called Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.--Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, Amelia and I hope that you enjoyed it. Being under pressure is one of those contradictions for those of us with ADHD brains. Thinking under pressure leaves us overwhelmed and often paralyzed, yet when faced with acting under pressure we tend to thrive and it becomes a superpower! In this episode, you will hear some lyrics from the song, "surface pressure" that is featured in the movie "Encanto!" The words to this song speak right into what many of us face when it comes to that thinking that drives feeling pressure...the struggle is real and the song is relatable! Next I share three steps to practice taking when faced with that emotional internal pressure... Express to a trusted adult the internal pressure, overwhelm, stress, anxiety felt... Release it! Explain to your trusted adult how you freeze, feel frantic or freak out inside when faced with that mental and emptional pressure! Explore different tools and/or strategies to take action on to help eleviate that mental and emotional feeling of pressure. Also explore how you can use your superpower of taking action when faced with urgency! This is where you can start practicing healthy urgency habits...I am not saying stay up till late hours or always wait until the last minute! Use your creative brain to create it in the moments you choose to make momentum to get stuff done! Thank you for being here! I love each of you and please know I am here if you'd ever like to reach out and share a episode topic idea, be a guest on an episode, or just ask me questions about your own ADHD journey! You can visit my website, www.katelynmabry.com to hop on my mailing list, check out my book, or schedule a FREE ADHD coaching consultation to discover if that would be the next best step for you and your family! Have a great day!
We don't talk about Bruno or Voldy in this one. Wait. Yes, we do. Check out which Hogwarts house each member of the family Madrigal is in. Whether it's our own perceptions or what the media has designated, when it comes to fashion and clothing choices, we make quick assumptions based on what someone is wearing. All black? You must be emotional or depressed or troubled. Bright and light? You must be carefree and happy. We see people's mental well-being placed into boxes based on what's in their closets and on their bodies. At the same time, there's also space for our fashion choices to express who we are and what we like. To help us address the woes of using fashion as a mental health check, we're joined by TWLOHA staff members Alex Jones and Amber Gardner. Alex Jones (he/him) is an Ohio native and has been a designer at TWLOHA for seven years and counting. Alex grew up doodling on any scrap of paper that came his way and still enjoys creative pursuits like photography, illustration, and lettering. When he's not slinging designs at work or at home, he can often be found at the nearest theater watching the latest Oscar winners or nominees or playing games like “Up and Down the River” with friends. Amber Gardner (she/her) works as TWLOHA's Director of Partnerships, and is originally from the Northeast but currently calls Nevada home. When she isn't cultivating relationships with both companies + individuals invested in mental health advocacy, you can find her hiking with her dog Lola, growing her plant collection (she used to name them but no longer does), or traveling the world (her favorite place thus far is Snowdonia National Park in Wales). As for this year, Amber is most looking forward to visiting Italy. Show Notes (Links of ours and guests): Download a transcript of this episode at twloha.com/podcast. Pastor Ryan Moore - It is so easy to lose sight of who we really are. When we allow our value to be defined by our gifts and abilities, it is a dangerous situation. Through Encanto, we will explore Biblical truths that will help us define our value based on God's grace and not on unbalanced expectations of others or our society.

Disney Vacation Planning Just Got a Little EasierMaybe it should have been there from the very start, but after years of having to jump through hoops with Disney World and Disneyland vacation planning, Disney is finally implementing a change that will make trip planning a little easier for guests. This story, plus Disney Aulani news and a Christmas 2023 Disneyland update. The Big Changes for How You Can Book Your Advanced Dining at Disneyland and Walt Disney WorldAfter many years of frustration that caused guests to jump through hoops and juggle plans around Disney dining, Disney if finally making it much more efficient to book dining reservations. The new updates include: The Ability to See and Pick from All Available Reservation Slots (not just three): We shouldn't be so excited for something that should have been there all along, but now all available dining reservation slots will show up for your selected dining location and timeframe on the Disneyland website/Disneyland app and on the Walt Disney World website/My Disney Experience app. Reservation Slots Sorted by Meal Period: Reservation availability will be sorted by meal period so you can see which menu is being served during the time of your reservation. This is most important around the transition time periods, for example if you're booking 4:00 p.m. you'll see if they're still serving lunch or starting on the dinner menu. These updates will roll out in phases across the website and iOS and Android platforms.--Disney Aulani Refurbishment Update: Ka Maka Pool and GrottoIf you're heading to Disney Aulani Hawaii this October, this is important news.
Sermons from First Parish Unitarian Universalist of Arlington Massachusetts
Sunday Sermon given July 16, 2023 Prayer by Bill Licia-Kane, Worship Associate https://firstparish.info/ First Parish A liberal religious community, welcoming to all First gathered 1739 Offering For the months of June, July and August, half of the offering supports two recipients: The Mass Building Electrification Accelerator (http://www.electrifybuildings.org/) and Educate Girls Now (https://educategirlsnow.org/). The remaining half supports the life and work of this Parish. To donate using your smartphone, you may text “fpuu offering” to 73256. Then follow the directions in the texts you receive. About the Sermon: Have you ever watched the show, America's Got Talent? It's the show where people come on before a panel of judges and perform. The judges move them to the next round or not. I've never really liked those kinds of shows. Every person has talents, and there isn't a winner. In this service we will look at building community with our talents through the world of Disney's Encanto! Hold on to your seats! Mary-Beth Landy is a mother of 3 daughters, who were the draw or should I say drag, to bring her to First Parish! Upon entering the doors, she knew she had found her spiritual home! During her 24 years as a member, she has served on various committees and as a Worship Associate for 7 years, and she now serves on the Welcoming Congregation Committee. In her spare time, Mary-Beth is a Trauma and Mental Health Specialist, a wife and the wrangler of 3 dogs and 3 cats!

In the 158th episode of The Main Street Electrical Podcast, Jenn & Dave are back on the show together again, after Jenn celebrated a birthday in Walt Disney World in, where else, The Grand Floridian! In addition, Dave discusses the wonder, magic, and yet silliness of "Encanto", which somehow Jenn leads into a chat on the latest "Fast & Furious" film, "Fast X". A little news on the Starcruiser openings and Apple's brand new partnership with Disney, and the new, possibly terrifying, VR Goggles. And The Princess 1/2 Marathon details have been released! Jenn gives the recap of her recent trip, including the food, the parks, and finally getting to experience Tron Lightcycle/Run. Then Dave gives his review on both the most recent live-action remake of "Little Mermaid", but also "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse". And somehow, "Fast X" comes back up because why not.

John Leguizamo has heard it all trying to make it as a Latino actor in Hollywood: "too Latino," "not Latino enough," "Latinos don't watch other Latinos." Step inside one of his auditions and hear the craziness for yourself. Then actor and activist, Diane Guerrero, talks about the need for more representation in Hollywood, the struggles she faced being separated from her immigrant parents at 14, and the way she proves her role in "Encanto" to children. And multi-hyphenate, Princess Nokia, discusses how she came up with her stage name, how John Leguizamo and Martin Lawrence are her biggest inspirations, and why she decided to allow herself to be publicly vulnerable with her new EP "i love you but this is goodbye."
