What does it look like to have a world-class CMO in your corner without the full-time price tag? In this episode, Alloy founder Rick Mayo sits down with Erin Levzow, CMO at CapitalSpring, to talk about the real value of fractional marketing leadership. Erin has held CMO roles at Wingstop, Freebirds, Museum of Ice Cream, and Marcus Hotels, and now works across the full CapitalSpring portfolio to help franchise brands build stronger marketing systems and better internal teams. She and Rick dig into how she mentors marketers inside growing companies, why most franchisees make the mistake of betting everything on one marketing channel, and what the faucet-and-bucket analogy tells you about why your spend is or is not working. They also talk about the human connection at the core of the Alloy model and why that matters more than ever in an AI-driven world. If you are building a franchise brand or trying to get more out of your marketing team, this episode is worth your time. ***Originally aired on Place to Be Nation in June 2022*** On episode 44 of NWA Crock and Roll, the boys pause before going head first into May 86 with a new bridge episode concept that will take place after each monthly watch called Pre Crockett Match Year Spotlight. The concept: 6 matches featuring Crockett stars from a wrestling year prior to the Crockett era starting in April 85 or prior to them becoming a part of Jim Crockett Promotions. This episode looks at 1985 and matches with some historical context that set up the Crockett era. Included; Flair vs. Gordy for World Title, Road Warriors vs. The High Flyers for AWA Tag Titles, Rock and Roll Express vs. The Freebirds, Buzz Tyler vs. Tully Blanchard for TV Title, Wahoo vs. TA in a cage for US Title that one person gives a shocking rating and close with a match with The Russians vs. Don Kernodle and…Ricky Steamboat?? This was a fun one! All matches discussed can be found on You Tube!
***Originally aired on Place to Be Nation in May 2022*** On Episode 42 of NWA Crock 'n' Roll, Calum, Scott and Dr. G complete the discussion on Crockett Cup 1986 with a recap of the remainder of the tournament. This episode covers baffling booking of a 20-minute draw, an absolute epic encounter out of nowhere which gets a lot of love and everything in between! We also head back to the Metrodome in Minneapolis for another look at AWA WrestleRock '86 to discuss a pair of tag matches involving Buddy Rose and Doug Somers vs. the Midnight Rockers and Road Warriors vs The Freebirds in the Territory Spotlight.
Clay Edwards welcomes back longtime friend and Shelter Insurance agent Jamie Creel for a wide-ranging, no-holds-barred conversation. The duo kicks things off with a preview of the upcoming school choice panel in Rankin County's Pearl Gold Boardroom on the 26th, featuring legislators and advocates on both sides. They debate the merits of using public funds for private education, personal choice vs. public systems, and why the issue refuses to die. From there, the talk turns to foreign policy and the escalating situation with Iran. Clay and Jamie dissect political hypocrisy across administrations, the history of U.S.–Iran tensions dating back to the hostage crisis, recent strikes, gas price spikes, and why “finishing the deal” matters for future generations—even if it comes with short-term costs. They tackle Israel derangement syndrome, media flip-flops, and what trusting the process really looks like under the current administration. The second half is pure fun: a deep dive into old-school territorial wrestling. Jamie shares vivid memories of the Jackson Coliseum and Trade Mart days—Junkyard Dog, Freebirds, Von Erichs, Kamala's debut, Road Warriors, and more—while Clay recounts Stone Cold pops, WrestleMania moments, and why the glass-shattering entrance still hits like a religious experience. Listener calls and a Mount Rushmore debate (Hogan, Austin, Rock, Flair—with plenty of honorable mentions) round out the nostalgia. Raw, real, and occasionally hilarious—this episode proves you can go from heavy policy to headlocks in the same hour. Perfect for fans of unfiltered talk, Mississippi politics, and classic wrasslin'.
Clay and Jamie Creel ditch the politics and dive headfirst into the glory days of territorial wrestling. From the Jackson Coliseum and Trade Mart to Mid-South, WCCW, USWA, and the NWA, the guys trade stories about Junkyard Dog (and his Stagger Lee run), the Freebirds vs. Von Erichs Texas Stadium wars, Kamala's terrifying debut at the Armory, the Road Warriors pop, and the Blade Runners (Sting & Ultimate Warrior) making their first appearance. They break down the Iron Claw movie, Stone Cold's glass-shattering religious experience at WrestleMania, and why the Freebirds' “Bad Street U.S.A.” entrance song still slaps harder than anything today. Listener calls and texts spark a heated Mount Rushmore debate—Hogan, Austin, The Rock, and Ric Flair get the nods, with honorable mentions flying for Dusty Rhodes, Harley Race, Andre the Giant, Ted DiBiase, Macho Man, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Steiner Brothers, Rock & Roll Express, and more. Pure nostalgia, belly laughs, and “you had to be there” tales from two lifelong marks who still mark out when that glass breaks. If you grew up on Saturday morning Mid-South, Memphis, or World Class, this hour is for you.

Join us in the haunted arena for our look at the second WCW Halloween show, Halloween Havoc 1990! This year, WCW even realized they were making a Halloween show, so that's a plus! The Freebirds face another generic face tag team - can they get booed this time? Ric Flair joins Arn Anderson for tag team action! Lex Luger faces Stan Hansen! Sting faces Sid Vicious for the world title! This show should be pretty good, unless, say, WCW cuts four full matches, forgets to write an ending for a match, has somebody else dress as Sting seven years early for that, and/or has a low budget stage magician for their latest villain. You know, purely hypothetically. For hopefully none of that, let's go to the ring!Music by Michael Gary Brewer at https://www.instantmusicnow.com/Follow us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/LetsGo2theRing/
This past week I spoke to a group of local ladies called "The Free Birds", women who are in the empty nest season of life. I called my talk “Five Ways to Fight for Joy as Free Birds” and intertwined parts of my grief story, my menopause journey, and thoughts on entering a new year with five practical ways to experience more joy in this unique season of life. Over the weekend I recorded my talk and am releasing it as an episode today so that you can hear it as well. I've been wanting to do something on the topic of being an empty nester, so I am excited to have this to share. And, even if you're not a "free bird", most of what I talked about will still be applicable to you, so I hope you will listen too! When I spoke in person, I cut a few things out for the sake of time, so the version you'll hear today is like the "extended cut", an advantage of recording it at home after the event. I did decide to leave out some of the more private details that I shared with the ladies about the night of the accident - things that I'm not ready to put out into the podcast world at this point…or ever…but again, if you're wanting to hear more of my grief story, the things that I DO feel comfortable sharing are in Episode 1, and woven throughout almost every episode of the podcast. So, listen in to what I shared with these women - "Brave Jodi" giving public speaking a try again after a long stretch of feeling like it wasn't what God had for me. We'll see what's ahead with this... I'm glad you found this episode. I hope it encourages you and that you can take away just one thing to work on as you fight for joy in 2025! *Don't forget that as a Fighting for Joy listener you can receive 10% off of your first month of counseling services from BetterHelp, my podcast sponsor. Check out my link at betterhelp.com/fightingforjoy. Christian counseling can be such a huge help in this broken world and a major tool in the fight for joy. ** If this episode was encouraging to you, I'd like to ask you to please consider rating the Fighting for Joy podcast, and even leaving a review. Once you find my show, scroll down to where it says “tap to rate” or “write a review”. Tapping to rate literally takes a second or two, and writing a review can be quick as well. Just sharing that you enjoy listening, or that it's an encouragement to you is enough. The longer I do this the more I understand how helpful those ratings and reviews really are, so thanks for considering this. It means a lot!

Please leave me feedback. I cannot respond so if you'd like me to respond, please leave your emailThis time of year, the media feeds us the message that we should be relaxed, feel connected to others, and experience joy, but our relationships are complex. Trying to “do it all,” that can leave us feeling exhausted, angry, and resentful. When we take on the roles of planning, shopping, hosting, and managing everyone's emotions, it's so easy to put yourself last. I've experienced this many times, and it's not always pretty. In this episode, I'll share a recent “aha” moment that reminded me why taking care of yourself isn't selfish; it's essential. You'll learn:A simple mindset shift that can change how you show up for yourself and others. The sneaky ways stress may manifest in your body (and how to recognize it before it overwhelms you).A 4-step process to manage those overwhelming emotions so you can acknowledge them—without letting them take control. If you've been feeling the pressure of holiday overwhelm, this short episode invites you to slow down, even if it's just for five minutes to turn inward and process what you might be experiencing in order to manage the holidays and find a little joy in them. I'm keeping it real, and simple, and sharing practical somatic tools you can use right now.
