Allow yourself to feel gentle lull of magic as it relaxes and enlightens you. LONG PAUSE Stay with the feeling of magic, as a welcome spell of serenity is cast upon you. LONG PAUSE Draw in another breath, And as you do, visualize yourself on horseback, on a snow white stallion, trotting through the forest in spring. PAUSE After a few moments, the horse slows to a walk, and then stops, as if taking in all the life of the forest. PAUSE A canopy of trees seems to part and opens into a vibrant green clearing with a large rock positioned in the center. PAUSE The rock is heavy with gray and white notches and valleys carved around it. Tiny sprigs of grass grow at its base. PAUSE The rock is surrounded By people, Men and women dressed in gowns, suits of armor and even the clothes of peasants. PAUSE Then, you notice something odd. jutting up from the stone is a sword, a gleaming silver sword. PAUSE “Here ye, Here ye!” calls a man with a long dark beard. “Whosoever can removeth the sword, becomes the next ruler of the land.” PAUSE The man continues, “Only the bravest, wisest and most loyal and compassionate will be able to remove the sword.” PAUSE Still seated on your steed, you watch patiently, as many good men, and even women, go to the rock, grab the sword with white-knuckled hands, and try to withdraw it. But the sword would not budge. PAUSE After a while, you dismount from the horse, lead her by the reins to a tree, where you gently wrap the rein around the tree. You pet her nose lovingly, and rub her neck, Before moving closer to the crowd. PAUSE Three others try their luck, but still, no one has retrieved the sword. you draw in a breath, deep and low, and then step forward. PAUSE “You?” says the man with the beard. “Aye,” you reply with confidence. “Very well,” he says. PAUSE You draw in another deep, stabilizing breath and approach the rock. Placing your feet against the bottom of the rock, you reach up, and with both hands encircling the handle of the sword, you gently tug. PAUSE Every so gently, the sword releases a few inches. gasps and claps rise from the crowd. PAUSE You nod to the crowd, and the reposition your footing. again, you reach and pull the sword. Again, it moves, slowly at first, until the rock releases it like butter. PAUSE Cheers and claps erupt from the crowd, as you raise the sword above. There is a power in the sword, an energy of magic. And you know that this is now yours. PAUSE The man with a beard comes to shake your hand and to place a golden crown upon your head. But it is the sword's magic, it's promise of power for good that moves you most. PAUSE You bow to the crowd, and then find your horse, mount her, and ride toward the sun, with a crown upon your head, a powerful sword in your hand, and magic in your heart. NAMASTE, BEAUTIFUL

The guys record together on the spookiest day of the year! Christian recounts his first pedicure experience and Justin tells us about the awkward encounters he had with both a 10-year-old boy and a Gen-Z worker at an ice cream shop. Then, we read a letter from Amanda in Vancouver about her mutual love of “The Sword In The Stone,” and that time a hummingbird buzzed into her ear (plus she offers up a colorful Would You Rather). Finally, Britt calls in asking if the guys have ever had to participate in corporate “spirit days,” and she ends asking would they rather read people's minds or move objects with their minds.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

"The Sword in the Stone" is a mixed bag. It offers charming characters, some delightful animation sequences, and a whimsical tone that appeals to a younger audience. However, its lack of a robust and cohesive plot and its departure from the depth of the source material may leave some viewers feeling unsatisfied. Ultimately, it's a Disney classic with its merits, but it falls short of achieving the greatness of some of the studio's other timeless animated films. This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/4481500/advertisement

We know you were expecting Leon the Professional, but after watching half of it and then showering eight or nine times, Krueger decided on something a little more "treasured childhood memory" and a little less "jail the director". It's 1963's The Sword in the Stone, with music by George Bruns and songs by the legendary Sherman Brothers. A RARE KRUEGER WARNING: We spend some time at the top talking about Leon: The Professional and why Krueger decided not to do the movie, so if you don't have space for Redacted-Redacted's grossness, feel free to skip ahead to around the 5 minute mark.

Journey with us, won't you, back in time to both medieval times and 1963, a veritable dark ages for the citizens of England and the Walt Disney studios. For this episode, we cover the movie that sits at the center of this Venn diagram, The Sword in the Stone. Is this a charming bit of nostalgic fun, or weak effort built upon an episodic screenplay and boring protagonist? Spoilers, it can be two things. Turn into a fish along with Leigh, Brendan, and Chris as they discuss what led to the disjointed visual style of this movie, the wet sheet that is young Arthur, and what lessons we were supposed to learn by being turned into squirrels (just that fat old horny lady squirrels are funny???). To adequately do justice to this movie, we also make THREE different cocktails, so like us you should get pretty drunk while watching this, perhaps even drunk enough to not notice that three different actors play Wart at various points throughout this film (jk there's not enough alcohol in the hemisphere to have that slip by unnoticed). This week, the society doubles down on the animation, as they watch the 1963 Disney classic The Sword In the Stone, directed by Wolfgang Reitherman and starring Karl Swenson, Sebastian Cabot, and Rickie Sorensen. Long-time listeners to the podcast may be shocked to find the consensus that bubbles up during this episode - you never know what alliances may form around here! However, everyone can agree that tissues may be necessary for the squirrel scene, and that a witches' duel is good entertainment.
