Morten Bonde has an eye condition that is slowly making him go blind. In 2016, his vision was so severely reduced that his life couldn't continue as before. With a family and a career as senior art director at the LEGO Group, suddenly his whole world collapsed. But when everything was at its bleakest, he experienced a sudden clarity for how to regain a zest for life and emerge from the darkness stronger than ever before. In his blindness he found true insight and succeeded in returning from hopelessness to regaining a positive and indomitable view of life. He has since published a book called Sentenced to Blindness – Now What? Presented a TedTalk and uses his story to help and inspire others to see the possibilities in life rather than limitations. And Morten joins us today to share his story the techniques he's used to help him change his perspective and change his life. Hey everyone and welcome to the MC Bitesize Book Review with Shirley Blanch from Get Mindful and Mindset Coach Amanda O'Rourke. In this series we're going to be taking a look at some of the best self-help books out there to help you find the right one for you, depending on the area in your life you want to focus on. We'll tell you what each book is about, why we think it deserves to be on your bookshelf, and how you can use this information to make real changes in your life. In this episode, we look at the book ‘It's Not Your Money' by Tosha Silver in which she looks at an alternative way to manifest abundance. Instead of grasping and chasing, what if we offered everything--our money (or lack of it), our triumphs, our problems, our desires--fully back to Love? What if this offering itself was actually the secret to abundance?
Rev. Pamela Borawski CHt is an ordained pagan minister and a green hedge witch. She works on her personal spiritual path which she has named the Greenwild Tradition and hosts a witchy podcast called Belle, Book & Candle. Her story is one of triumph over hopelessness, emptiness, and fear. Having been raised in a fundamentalist cult, the victim of physical, emotional and sexual abuse, she fell into decades of deep depression and considered suicide her only option. It was only through learning to love herself, to become a resilient human being, and finding her own authentic personal spiritual path did she rise above the darkness of her past to become an inspiration to those that meet her and hear her story and she joins us today to help us understand more about the ancient practice of witchcraft and bust some myths along the way. 3 easy steps to beat the 'winter blues'. As the clocks go back and winter finally beds in, we can start to feel the effects of the changing seasons both physically and mentally. Sometimes this manifests as feeling low or going into hibernation mode, but for some, it's more serious and can manifest as a specific type of depression called Seasonal Affective Disorder (S.A.D for short) this can cause anxiety, feelings of hopelessness and overwhelm, problems sleeping, low energy, loss of interest in life, changes in appetite and weight and even suicidal thoughts. It is thought as many as 1 in 15 people in the UK suffer SAD and research suggests this could be caused by a lack of vitamin D affecting serotonin and melatonin levels and disturbing the circadian rhythm. But what can we do and how can mindfulness help?
