In this deeply personal episode of The Cliff Ravenscraft Show, I reconnect with longtime listener and creative soul Boone Langston, whose journey from uncertainty to alignment took him all the way to Denmark—where he now designs official LEGO sets. What begins as a moment of appreciation quickly unfolds into a rich, multi-layered conversation about purpose, provision, creative calling, and the nonlinear path that leads us home. Boone vulnerably shares the ups and downs of his journey: the years of not knowing, the pressure of finding “the thing,” the courage to pivot, and even a moment when he and his wife nearly lost their home. You'll hear how saying yes to resonance—whether through LEGO, video, or teaching—eventually led to a wild ride of opportunities, including a spot on LEGO Masters and a full-circle moment working with the LEGO Group itself. We explore: The difference between faith and knowing What it means to live in alignment with your values Why the path often requires letting go of old success stories How love, family, and creativity can guide your decisions more than certainty ever could This is more than a conversation about career. It's a conversation about remembering who you are and choosing the next right step, even when you can't see the whole map. At the end, I share more about the upcoming Free The Dream Workshop happening August 29–30, a two-day experience to clear the noise, uncover what's next, and remember the part of you that's still waiting to be lived. You have probably noticed we are getting more provocative with our episodes and their titles. A few weeks ago we released an episode titled “Is Brand Purpose Dead.” Well this week's episode takes it up a notch: “The Day the Universe Changed: How the last five years have changed us as humans and consumers.” Jim's guests are Mike Moynihan, the SVP of Brand, Marketing, Insights and Partnerships at the Lego Group, and George Carey, the founder and CEO of Human-ology, a research company that tracks shifts in values and emotions that shape human attitudes and behaviors.mTheir clients include Google, Nike, McDonalds, and of course Lego. Mike has been at Lego for an amazing 30 years, and George founded his company about 15 years ago. George will share how the human inside the consumer has fundamentally changed over the past five years, beginning with the pandemic and then intensifying with the 2024 US elections. And Mike from Lego will talk to how this has changed how they think about their brand, and the initiatives that emanated from that.---This week's episode is brought to you by Deloitte and StrawberryFrog.Learn more: https://strawberryfrog.com/jimSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Happy Friday, everyone! This week's update is one of those episodes where the pieces don't immediately look connected until you zoom out. A CEO warning of mass white collar unemployment. A Lego research study shows that kids are already immersed in generative AI. And, Apple is shaking things up by dismantling the myth of “AI thinking.” Three different angles, but they all speak to a deeper tension:We're moving too fast without understanding the cost. We're putting trust in tools we don't fully grasp. And, we're forgetting the humans we're building for. With that, let's get into it.⸻Anthropic Predicts a “White Collar Bloodbath”—But Who's Responsible for the Fallout? In an interview that's made headlines for its stark predictions, Anthropic's CEO warned that 10–20% of entry-level white collar jobs could disappear in the next five years. But here's the real tension: the people building the future are the same ones warning us about it while doing very little to help people prepare. I unpack what's hype and what's legit, why awareness isn't enough, what leaders are failing to do, and why we can't afford to cut junior talent just because AI can the work we're assigning to them today.⸻25% of Kids Are Already Using AI—and They Might Understand It Better Than We DoNew research from the LEGO Group and the Alan Turing Institute reveals something few adults want to admit: kids aren't just using generative AI; they're often using it more thoughtfully than grown-ups. But with that comes risk. These tools weren't built with kids in mind. And when parents, teachers, and tech companies all assume someone else will handle it, we end up in a dangerous game of hot potato. I share why we need to shift from fear and finger-pointing to modeling, mentoring, and inclusion.⸻Apple's Report on “The Illusion of Thinking” Just Changed the AI NarrativeBuried amidst all the noise this week was a paper from Apple that's already starting to make some big waves. In it, they highlight that LLMs and even advanced “reasoning” models (LRMs) may look smarter. However, they collapse under the weight of complexity. Apple found that the more complex the task, the worse these systems performed. I explain what this means for decision-makers, why overconfidence in AI's thinking will backfire, and how this information forces us to rethink what AI is actually good at and acknowledge what it's not.⸻If this episode reframed the way you're thinking about AI, or gave you language for the tension you're feeling around it, share it with someone who needs it. Leave a rating, drop a comment, and follow for future breakdowns delivered with clarity, not chaos.—Show Notes:In this Weekly Update, Christopher Lind dives into three stories exposing uncomfortable truths about where AI is headed. First, he explores the Anthropic CEO's bold prediction that AI could eliminate up to 20% of white collar entry-level jobs—and why leaders aren't doing enough to prepare their people. Then, he unpacks new research from LEGO and the Alan Turing Institute showing how 8–12-year-olds are using generative AI and the concerning lack of oversight. Finally, he breaks down Apple's new report that calls into question AI's supposed “reasoning” abilities, revealing the gap between appearance and reality in today's most advanced systems.00:00 – Introduction01:04 – Overview of Topics02:28 – Anthropic's White Collar Job Loss Predictions16:37 – AI and Children: What the LEGO/Turing Report Reveals38:33 – Apple's Research on AI Reasoning and the “Illusion of Thinking”57:09 – Final Thoughts and Takeaways#Anthropic #AppleAI #GenerativeAI #AIandEducation #FutureOfWork #AIethics #AlanTuringInstitute #LEGO #AIstrategy #DigitalLeadership

In an era where technology is advancing at lightning speed, franchisors must adapt or risk being left behind. Enter Jeremy Brazeal, a visionary from Reality Interactive, who who previously led groundbreaking consumer, digital engagement, and advertising work for global icons like The LEGO Group and The Coca-Cola Company. Now agency-side at Reality, he's helping redefine how brands connect with customers through the power of AI and smart retail tools. Jeremy's keen focus on using tech to cultivate customer affinity has propelled him to the cutting edge of AI innovation in franchising. In this episode of Smart Franchising Podcast, Jeremy reveals:How AI serves as an invisible but invaluable friend in driving customer loyaltyThe creative ways AI tools are boosting revenue streams in unexpected sectorsStrategies for integrating AI seamlessly without overwhelming your budgetReal-world examples of AI transforming the athletics industry through hyper-personalizationWays AI can refine the in-store experience and streamline customer interactionsOn AI's Role as a Brand's Best FriendJeremy Brazeal: “AI could very much have the person on the other side, the cashier, be AI. That cashier is also, to an extent, a nutritionist...So in the future world that is now, sometimes the cashier is a nutritionist.”On Creating Value Through TechnologyJeremy Brazeal: “The big shift that's happened is really about the power of the hardware and then AI's ability to access a ton of data points at once...you want to have that conversation. It's personal. You want those solutions personalized to you.”On Core Mission FocusJeremy Brazeal: "What is that mission that you're trying to accomplish that's going to differentiate you from your competitors? What is that core mission? And then if you're going to incorporate something like an AI tool, how does it help you achieve that core mission? And if it doesn't, don't do it."
