I first spoke with Michelle Lee back in July, 2017 when she shared her goal to complete the world's toughest nautical challenge; the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge.A 5,300km / 2900 nautical mile solo, unassisted and self-supported ocean rowing event across the Atlantic from the Canary Islands off the coast of Spain all the way to Antigua in the Caribbean. In February 2019, Michelle achieved her goal and, in the process, became the first Australian woman to row across an ocean. Now there's one key piece of information you need to know; Michelle did not come from a rowing background. At the time she set the goal, she had never pulled an oar through the water. In fact, when Michelle pulled out of the dock at the start of the race, she had never rowed in the open ocean (all her training had been confined to inside Sydney Heads). Wow!So in this week's episode of Sparta Chicks Radio, Michelle rejoins me to share what's happened in the last 18 months since we first spoke, as well as how this incredible race unfolded for her.

“The problem with AI adoption isn't just technical—it's emotional. Creativity lowers the barrier of fear, and that opens the door to skill building.”– Jimmy Lepore HaganNewsflash! After a much needed hiatus- Psych Tech @ Work is back with a vengeance! During the break I have been heads down in my lab- experimenting and playing with AI.SHE'S ALIVE!This episode marks the debut of my self-created AI podcast co-host Mayda Tokens.  It took me three weeks to make her and during this process I explored the human side of effectively collaborating with AI.  Making Mayda required me to flex my creativity, critical thinking, flexibility and perseverance.  My Mayda experience prepared me firsthand for a great conversation with Jimmy about creativity, AI, and the human psyche. In this episode of Psych Tech @ Work, I welcome my new friend and fellow New Orleanian Jimmy Lepore Hagan.  Together we explore why creativity is the missing link in many corporate AI readiness programs — and how it can be leveraged to help individuals and teams move from fear to fluency in a rapidly transforming world.Jimmy brings his bold, experience-driven perspective to the conversation, making the case that creative courage is not a soft skill — it's a strategic asset.Together, we discuss Jimmy's new framework for enabling AI adoption through creativity — and my addition to the delivery of his hands-on workshop designed to help HR teams, L&D leaders, and talent professionals build AI fluency through creative exploration.SummaryCreative thinking isn't just about making art — it's about rewiring our brains to embrace ambiguity, take risks, and explore the unknown. In this episode, we discuss how cultivating creativity can de-risk the AI learning curve, helping professionals feel more confident engaging with emerging tools. In an era of automation, the ability to experiment, play, and fail safely is what separates those who adapt from those who resist. These traits are not innate — they can be developed, and doing so can radically change how individuals approach new technology. The episode also highlights a workshop experience that puts this theory into action: a fun, safe, and high-impact program designed to build creative fluency first — and then apply it to AI. This approach helps teams lower psychological barriers to AI experimentation and open the door to real skills development.Themes We Explore* Creativity as an Onramp to AI Readiness Creativity builds the core capacities — curiosity, experimentation, and comfort with failure — that directly translate to AI learning and application.* Why Psychological Safety is a Prerequisite Without a safe space to explore, innovation doesn't happen. We talk about how to build the cultural conditions that support real experimentation with new tech.* Learning to Play (Again) Many professionals have been conditioned out of creativity. Jimmy explains how low-stakes exercises can reawaken this muscle and prepare the brain for change.* Failure as Fuel We unpack the idea that failure is not just acceptable — it's critical for both creative and AI development. Practicing failure makes success possible.* Designing for Transformation Hear how we're applying these concepts in a new experiential workshop, helping HR and L&D leaders guide their organizations through tech transformation with humanity and purpose. The last wordDespite the hype, many organizations struggle to operationalize AI adoption. Often, the barrier isn't technical — it's emotional and behavioral. Employees hesitate to engage because they fear doing it wrong or looking incompetent. This episode introduces a radical but practical solution: creativity. By focusing first on human traits like courage, curiosity, and psychological safety, organizations can build a foundation for real AI fluency and sustainable innovation.I have to give a direct and shameless plug for our workshop. Our workshop — combines science, storytelling, and hands-on exercises to help teams build the mindsets and skills needed for the future of work. This is a public episode. You may never strap on hiking boots or climb a 14,000-foot mountain… but you've got mountains of your own. In this episode of Your Biggest Breakthrough, we share the raw, real, and sometimes hilarious lessons we learned while summiting our very first “fourteener” — Mount Bierstadt in Colorado. What does mountain climbing have to do with your health, career, relationships, or faith? Everything. Because life is full of summits, false summits, unexpected detours, and moments when you wonder if you can take one more step. If you've ever faced a challenge that felt too steep, this episode will remind you that you're stronger than you think, you're not meant to climb alone, and God has already marked the trail for your breakthrough.By the end, you'll see your own mountain differently — and you might just start the climb.Chapters:[00:00] Podcast Preview[01:09] Introduction to Life Lessons from Climbing[03:17] Vision, Goals, and Intentional Challenges[05:47] Research, Planning, and Training[08:30] The Power of Commitment Before the Climb[10:54] First Steps & Trail Markers (and Getting Lost)[13:02] The Importance of Support and Community[14:23] False Summits & Shifting Perspective[15:30] Navigating Obstacles and Pain[19:00] Self-Talk and Perseverance[20:06] The Boulder Scramble to the Top[22:00] Reaching the Summit & Celebrating Victories[23:18] The Emotional Descent After a Big Win[24:46] Lessons from Going Downhill[26:22] Asking God, “What's next?”[27:37] Final EncouragementResources mentioned:Episode 162: Navy SEAL Don Mann on How to Conquer Pain, Build Resilience, and Never QuitCall to action:Make sure to visit yourbiggestbreakthrough.com for your FREE access to our e-book and audiobook, "Unstoppable: Divine Intervention in Overcoming Adversity," showcasing six powerful real-life stories. As the Chairman of the Board and CEO of Midwest BankCentre, Saint Louis' second-largest locally owned bank, he has significantly broadened access to capital for local families and businesses. Born in East Saint Louis to a drug-addicted mother who died when he was eight years old, author Orvin Kimbrough chronicles his early years through foster care, orphanages, physical and sexual abuse, hunger, and poverty in his book Twice Over A Man. He could have joined a gang. He could have become a teen father. He could have fallen into drugs and the violence of the streets. He could have ended up in prison. He could have been shot dead. But he rose above it all to become a prosperous leader in the Saint Louis business and nonprofit communities. Instead of succumbing to life on the streets, Kimbrough sought the one thing that would redeem him from that dismal, expected fate-education. This is the story of a young man who, despite all the forces that worked against him, fiercely determined to make a better life for himself and is resolute about showing others the way.Support the showTransforming the workplace one Bible study at a time - GET STARTED today! Trump-era executive orders, police hiring standards, and college admissions all converge in a decades-long debate over disparate impact, one of the most misunderstood yet consequential doctrines in civil rights law. In this episode of Stanford Legal, Professor Ralph Richard Banks, faculty director of the Stanford Center for Racial Justice, joins host Professor Pamela Karlan for a deep dive into how the disparate impact doctrine really works, why it matters, and what's at stake when it's attacked in the name of “meritocracy.” From the landmark Griggs case to modern college admissions, Banks dissects the arguments on all sides—showing how this sometimes-vilified legal doctrine not only helps root out discrimination, but can also strengthen, rather than undermine, meritocracy. Links:Rick Banks >>> Stanford Law pageConnect:Episode Transcripts >>> Stanford Legal Podcast WebsiteStanford Legal Podcast >>> LinkedIn PageRich Ford >>>  Twitter/XPam Karlan >>> Stanford Law School PageStanford Law School >>> Twitter/XStanford Lawyer Magazine >>> Twitter/X(00:00:00) Introduction to Executive Orders and Disparate Impact (00:03:30) The Function and Impact of Universities in Society (00:09:46) Understanding Different Measures of Merit (00:13:20) Legacy Preferences and Nepotistic Systems (00:18:16) Disparate Impact in Standardized Testing (00:23:38) The Future of College Admissions and Rick Banks' Upcoming Book

This week we have Dr. Stephen Yuille in the studio again. During his last visit, he told us about a reading challenge through George Swinnock's The Blessed and Boundless God. Today, Dr. Yuille and Dr. John Snyder have a broader discussion in mind. Because of his profession and experience, many people ask Dr. Yuille how they can read and benefit more from the Puritans. He sought to develop a concise, systematic, scalable answer to that question. Instead of trying to read as much of Puritan writings as possible, Dr. Yuille encourages us to approach these spiritual giants devotionally. Just read a few pages each day. Reformation Heritage Books Puritan Treasures for Today is a great place to start. These books have been edited and modernized to remove the language barrier so many find difficult to overcome. Dr. Yuille's approach is to take six books and read them across six months. The goal is not quantity of reading but quality. Read the Puritans as they intended their books to be read. Read them with your heart, not just your mind. Meditate on what you read that day. We believe, as Dr. Yuille does, this is wonderful food for your soul and your will benefit by this practice. Each of the books Dr. Yuille suggests starting with are listed below with links to where you can find them. Want a great introduction to the Puritans? In this episode of Skin Anarchy, host Dr. Ekta Yadav sits down with Jenny McCarthy to talk about the personal journey that led her to launch Formless Beauty—a cosmetics brand redefining what “clean beauty” really means. What began as a health transformation for Jenny, prompted by autoimmune struggles and a genetic mutation diagnosis, quickly evolved into a deeper frustration with the lack of transparency in the beauty industry.Formless Beauty was born out of necessity, not trend-chasing. Jenny reveals how she went from frustrated consumer to full-time founder and CEO, dedicating herself to creating products that exclude over 900 questionable ingredients—phthalates, parabens, synthetic fragrances, and more. This isn't a white-labeled celebrity brand; it's a mission-driven line that has earned trust from immunocompromised users, including cancer and lupus patients.Throughout the episode, Jenny breaks down the problems with the current “clean beauty” landscape, including misleading marketing tactics, unregulated terms, and self-appointed certifications. She also calls attention to the alarming rise in young children using full-face cosmetics, urging parents to get educated about ingredients that could disrupt hormonal development.Jenny's passion and leadership are undeniable—from formulating a water-resistant, toxin-free mascara to hosting weekly TikToks to educate her audience. Her story is about advocacy, integrity, and building something she couldn't find on the shelves. Tune in to hear how Formless Beauty is changing the clean beauty narrative—and why it's not about hype, but health.CHAPTERS:(0:00) Introduction to Jenny McCarthy and Her Journey(1:01) Jenny's Health Journey and the Birth of Formless Beauty(3:27) The Challenges of Creating Clean Beauty Products(6:12) Building a Brand with EWG Guidelines(9:40) Overcoming Obstacles in Clean Beauty Innovation(12:38) The Importance of Transparency in Beauty Products(15:36) Addressing the Misconception of Celebrity Brands(17:41) The Impact of Social Media and Influencers on Young Consumers(21:15) The Need for Role Models in Beauty and ConfidenceTo learn more about Jenny McCarthy, visit her social media.
