In September 1961, Betty and Barney Hill, a New Hampshire couple, were the subjects in the first widely publicized report of an alien abduction in the United States. The incident came to be called the "Hill Abduction" and the "Zeta Reticuli Incident." Joining Paul & Ben today was Betty and Barney's niece, Kathleen Marden, MUFON's national chief of experiencer research, an occasional guest co-host of this show, and a celebrated author and speaker. We looked at the inside story of the Hill case, and got a taste of the revised edition of Kathy's book, co-authored with the great Stanton Friedman: "Captured!: The True Story of the World's First Documented Alien Abduction." It's a celebratory episode this time, as Paul reaches a true milestone - 350 episodes of heartfelt passion, positivity and game-changing conversations. Joining Paul to mark the occasion is special guest, Sharon Moore, who discusses why speaking from our hearts is so important. KEY TAKEAWAYS Speaking from our hearts also means listening with our hearts. We need to gain awareness of the needs of others. True listening means not trying to speak as others are talking. We need to not just hear, but to listen. If someone wishes to connect, allow them to do, absolutely. Small changes add up. If we see to it that we are making positive, incremental changes, then it creates a groundswell of change. Being told to "man up", has been a way of dismissing the issues and challenges of a generation. We need to repair this through acceptance. BEST MOMENTS 'Speaking from our hearts is something that we could do more of' 'I sometimes wonder if the world is ready for honesty' 'I believe that men are totally different from women' 'In this human form, we are vulnerable' VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST ABOUT THE HOST Paul has made a remarkable transformation from existing for many years in dark, desperate despair; to now living a really healthy, happy and fulfilling life. Exploring our belief layers can allow us to develop a better understanding of the way we live and make decisions. It’s a journey of self-exploration that we could all do well to take in order to master the game of life. Joining Paul to discuss the layers themselves, and how to address each one, is author, intuitive healer and co-founder of International Healing Systems, Aimee Mosco. KEY TAKEAWAYS Lessons in life are generally presented through discomfort. By digging beneath this feeling, we can better understand the elements we need to reconcile within ourselves. The seven layers of beliefs and mindsets that influence our lives are: Fear and facing our fear Anger - rooted in fear Disappointment and dis-empowerment Hopelessness Inner strength Creativity Activation or application The remedy against fear is awareness. We need to recognise when fear is taking control and use the neutralising force: love. Hope and hopelessness are tied to faith. Both layers have taken on a whole new meaning for all thanks to the current world situation. Our levels of both are interdependent on the faith we have in others. Mastering the game of life is a matter of ABC. A = awareness. B = beliefs. C = creativity. Practising these three attributes is a journey that leads to mastery. BEST MOMENTS ‘Fear is an insidious little coward that hides behind the corner, ready to strike’ ‘Detachment, and detachment from judgement, is the answer to dis-empowerment’ ’The underlying drive to be creative is part of being a human being’ ‘It’s hard to have flexibility when you’re always trying to take control' VALUABLE RESOURCES Mastering The Game Of Life 'Emerging From The Forest' book (Amazon) Aimee Mosco on Goodreads - https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/17103583.Aimee_Mosco Aimee Mosco Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/IHSaimeemosco/ IHS Unity - https://www.ihsunity.com Evolve Through Love - https://www.facebook.com/groups/evolvethroughlove/ ABOUT THE HOST One thing that’s never been attached to Paul is the label ‘normal’ – something he is totally aware of. He definitely subscribes to being one of those mentioned the iconic ‘Think Different’ Apple commercial narrated by Steve Jobs in 1977: “Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes... the ones who see things differently -- they're not fond of rules. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can't do is ignore them because they change things... they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do!” Paul has a long and distinguished history of coaching & mentoring – particularly focusing on helping people make the transition from pain to purpose; a journey he has made himself, from the depths of a deep dark existence, to now living a life of happiness and prosperity. Through this Mastering The Game Of Life podcast, and books he has been involved in – including being a best-selling co-author – Paul also helps others to get their own inspirational messages and stories out into the world; as well as offering support to many charitable organisations, in their development & fund-raising. “Remember – Mastering The Game Of Life Starts, By Embracing Our Hearts!” CONTACT METHODS Tel: +44 (0) 115 7270101 E-mail: Paul@Paul-Lowe.com Twitter: https://twitter.com/IAMPaulLowe Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/IamPaulLowe/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/paul-d-lowe-7a78332a/

A long time ago in an industry far, far away...the end was nigh for Hollywood’s good ol’ days. Charles Manson had arrived, Family in tow, to disrupt the neverending Summer of Love. Quentin Tarantino’s ninth (and penultimate?) film, Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood, takes a look at L.A. in 1969, as Leonardo DiCaprio’s washed-up actor and Brad Pitt’s mysterious stuntman cross paths with rising star (and future Manson victim) Sharon Tate, here played by Margot Robbie. Joining Paul and Arlo to navigate Tarantino’s exploration of a half-century’s worth of pop culture detritus are former Smoke Gets in Your Ears co-hosts Joseph Lewis and Kenn Edwards. The gang discusses the film’s languid pace, how Once Upon a Time compares to Tarantino alternate histories like Inglourious Basterds or Django Unchained, the ways in which the film pointedly interrogates various problematic aspects of its writer-director, and--of course--the groovy soundtrack. Next: Nazis! We hate those guys. So do the heroes of The Sound of Music and The Great Dictator, subjects of our latest Geek Challenge. After suffering from a lengthy period of depression, Daniel Rees-Morgan sometimes found it difficult to summon up the will to make it through each day. The problem stemmed from the fact that Daniel did not know the root cause of this depression, which prohibited any kind of repair. But after deciding to invest the little energy he had into self-development, Daniel was able to attune himself the voice of his own heart, and by doing so was able to start the long road to recovery. Joining Paul today, Daniel discusses the fascinating and important topic of summoning clarity from confusion, and why it might be one of the most useful powers our hearts possess. ABOUT GUEST Daniel Rees-Morgan Daniel went through depression for 10 years, to the point where he literally just wanted to break down and cry each day, for no apparent reason. He was frustrated and confused; people constantly thinking he was just feeling sorry for himself; but the reality was, the only thing he felt sorry for, was the fact he didn’t understand why he felt the way he did. But – as Daniel reminds us of one of Tony Robbins’s famous quotes – ‘confusion precedes a breakthrough’ and his confusion subsequently led him to the biggest passion in his life; it led him to personal development. **Hark! It’s an 87th Precinct Podcast Sidepod!** We slip time-streams today and end up in the 23rd Century before being whizzed straight back to the 20th Century, 1968 to be precise, as we look at what could have been Star Trek’s swan-song. The episode “Assignment: Earth” was the final episode of season two of Star Trek at a time when the show was threatened with cancellation. This episode was intended as a back-door pilot for a new spin-off. So how does this relate to the gritty and down to earth world of Ed McBain and the 87th Precinct? Well, it’s linked by two *very thin* strands. The main star of the episode is the best on-screen version of Detective (2nd Grade) Steve Carella, Robert Lansing as Gary Seven and also Leonard Nimoy who starred as a skinny-tie wearing, car-hiring, drug-running baddy in the 87th Precinct TV series in 1961. Joining Paul for the chat is illustrator, educator and all-round sci-fi nerd, Adam Paxman. Search for his various art outputs online: [Mister Paxman's Glorious Bastards](http://misterpaxmansgloriousbastards.blogspot.co.uk/), [The Museum of Fragmented Shadows](http://tmofs.blogspot.co.uk/) and [Burning Zebra: The Abandoned Storybook](http://burning-zebra.blogspot.co.uk/) – a treasure trove of grotesques, horrors, intrigue, sci-fi, adventure and philosophy in various forms.

This week, a podcast about a podcast. Of course, S-Town is no ordinary podcast; from the producers of This American Life and Serial, it's a coherent piece of documentary art unto itself. Reporter Brian Reed had little idea what he was getting himself into when John B. McLemore of Shittown (née Woodstock), Alabama, emailed him about a possible murder cover-up. Likewise, the listener who presses play on the first episode of S-Town has no idea of the journey they're about to take, one that is about time, empathy, compassion. Joining Paul and Arlo to suss out some of this journey's meaning is Paul's better half, Pam Smith, herself a lifelong Alabamian. The gang discusses how S-Town resonates with them, whether or not it's too invasive, why it should be mandatory listening, and Paul and Pam's trip to Woodstock. Plus, Pam plays some calming video games (Abzu, Flow, Journey, and Flower), while Arlo's other half finally gets him to play The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time; and we have movie sign as Paul heckles Netflix's Mystery Science Theater 3000 revival. Next: Gobbledypal Chance Mazzia stops by for more Four-Color Flashback fun. This time, he's here for Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra's Y: The Last Man. He'll help Paul and Arlo tackle Vol. 4: Safeword.
Wait, what's that? Not only did someone listen to our Grendel episodes...but they decided to join us on air?! Wonders never cease. Joining Paul and Arlo to finish last year's Four-Color Flashback series on Matt Wagner's Grendel is Chance Mazzia, who actually discovered the show thanks to Wagner's whacked-out opus. The gang discusses "Devil's Reign," collected in Grendel Omnibus: Vol. 3, which is not technically the end of the sprawling series but marks a fine endpoint for their analysis. Orion Assante seeks to unite the world, but at what cost? Among this week's subjects are vampirism and Elvis, Trump and Obama, and the subtle art of dick jokes. Next: a new Four-Color Flashback is upon us. This time the boys will be discussing the presumably much more popular series Y: The Last Man by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra. Up first is Vol. 1: Unmanned.
Back by popular demand, it’s the second episode Field & Mullinger’s Underground Nights. Once again, your hosts Paul Field and James Mullinger are delving into the depths of cinema to dig out some of the best documentaries they can find. From the phenomenon of the Netflix series Making A Murderer, to the ground-breaking Paradise Lost, they’ve got it covered. Joining Paul and James to discuss the world of documentary film-making is Cleanflix co-director Joshua Ligairi. As well as sharing his thoughts on some of the crazy conspiracies behind Making A Murderer, Josh also talks about his own work past and present, including the upcoming Plan 241. There’s also time for the trio to quickly run through the recent Oscar nominations and explain how Alan Rickman inadvertently funded one member of the team throughout his education! In years past, Paul and AJ have devoted month-long chunks of the show to Quentin Tarantino, modern film's remix master; and Hayao Miyazaki, Japan's animation master. For 2016, the boys are devoting February to another cinematic maestro: Alfred Hitchcock, the Master of Suspense. The first pair of films under discussion are 1943's Shadow of a Doubt, wherein Joseph Cotten's killer misanthrope shares blood (and a telepathic link) with young Teresa Wright; and 1951's Strangers on a Train, in which Robert Walker commits a murder for Farley Granger and expects him to return the favor. Joining Paul and AJ for this double about doubles is Aja Romano, geek culture writer for The Daily Dot, who educates the boys on why these are her favorite Hitchcock films. The gang talks Hitchcock's perfect mise en scene, why and how trains are important to the Master's work, the films' incestuous and homoerotic (not to mention vampiric!) undertones, and much more. Next: Hitchcock Month continues as A/V writer-director Joseph Lewis confines the boys to one podcast for 1948's Rope and 1954's Rear Window.

This episode James welcomes back Paul M. Cobb, Professor of Islamic History at the University of Pennsylvania and author of ‘The Race for Paradise’. Joining Paul is one of his oldest friends, Monica Sanning, for a lively discussion of comic books, tabletop RPGs, how Paul became cool in high school, and the stunning 4k restoration of 'Chimes at Midnight' (1965) from director Orson Welles. It's the final episode of Gobbledyween 2015, kids, so bust out your Ouija--remember, it's Wee-JUH, not Wee-JEE--boards and prepare to get possessed by 1986's Witchboard. Joining Paul and AJ is first-time guest and hardcore horror fan Aundria; all three of them are baffled by this film, its intentions, and its extensive use of magic as metaphor. Some questions to which they seek answers: Can an atheist believe in spirits? Would ghosts fail a spelling test? Are Jim and Brandon, the estranged best friends at the heart of the movie, secretly knocking sneakers? They probably put more thought into those questions than anyone involved in the making of Witchboard. Next: the Gobbledy-Book Club reconvenes to discuss Ridley Scott's film adaptation of The Martian. Returning to the show are So Let's Get to the Point's Kenn Edwards, Wanna Cook? co-author Ensley F. Guffey, and the all-around amazing Hallie Prime.
Our month-long celebration of Japanese animation master Hayao Miyazaki reaches its bittersweet conclusion with a look at Miyazaki's purported final film, 2013's The Wind Rises; and Mami Sunada's documentary about its making, The Kingdom of Dreams and Madness. Joining Paul and AJ for their final descent into the world of Studio Ghibli is Smoke Gets in Your Ears: A Mad Men Podcast co-hosts Kenn Edwards and Joseph Lewis. The gang discusses the parallels between Miyazaki and The Wind Rises' aviation engineer Jiro Horikoshi, Miyazaki's surprisingly fatalistic outlook on life, and--naturally--the grand folly of art. Plus, Joe makes an exciting announcement! Next: leaping from one Disney-distributed universe to another, Paul and AJ enter The Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Joining Paul and Chris on this episode of Ten Forward is Tanya Gujral the long time suffering better half of Adam Howse. Oh yes.. he joins us as well! Today we discuss Monster Munch (other snacks are available), Chris’ twitter profile picture, coconuts and Batman (other superheroes are available), but Tanya kept insisting we talk about […]
He's pretty spry for an old guy: Steve Rogers charges back onto the big screen with Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and we're here to tell you if it's a worthy outing for the star-spangled boy scout. Joining Paul and AJ to disuss the film is friend/lover/ultimate Brony forever Eric Sipple (he also wrote a really cool book called Broken Magic, check it out). The gang talks about Winter Soldier's brutal hand-to-hand, whether or not the movie's political commentary works, the merits of Scarlett Johansson's badassery, and that Sundance Kid. Spoiler alert: this episode might contain the most agreement of any single episode of Gobbledygeek. Next: Paul and AJ talk about stuff! They don't know what! But something!
