Show #12 Maximizing Amazon & eBay Sales In 2018

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 21, 2018 57:37

We're still early in 2018 but I'm laser focused on my goals that I've set for myself to achieve by the end of the year. Ultimately I've set a sales goal on Amazon at $10,000/month and I have a plan in place to achieve this. Here are some of the specific things I'm going to focus on to help me achieve sales on Amazon: Coupons Amazon started the coupon feature several months ago and I've had some real good luck using it. It's a must on private label and I've even used it on products I've gotten wholesale. On the show I describe how I use coupons to undercut the competition & keep the buy-box more often. Photos I purchased the Amazon Basics photo studio that Amazon sells. It's basically a light box that creates nice product images for small-medium sized items. I really think it will help my listings stand out, especially on bundles/multi-pack listings where most people just use stock images.  Bundles/Multi-Packs Truly the poor-man's private label on Amazon. I don't have enough time in the day to hunt for bundle/multipack listings to create on Amazon. However, one way to identify them is on the product listing page itself. On most items you see "Frequently Purchased Together" with links to multiple Amazon products that customers often buy together at the same time. I've found creating these bundles (if they don't exist) is one of the best ways to make money using wholesale arbitrage.  eBay is still a viable marketplace for most products. While I don't have any specific goals for eBay - it will help me achieve my sales goals for Amazon in a number of ways. The primary way it will help is by clearing inventory that isn't moving on Amazon - or was returned. I've found used merchandise sells well on eBay, and some categories such as collectibles actually sells better.  Because eBay is so much more manual labor/work versus using Amazon FBA, I'm not trying to achieve maximum potential on the site, however I feel it's still worth focusing some time on given the advantages it has over Amazon in some selling scenarios.  All this and more on today's show!

A new year is upon us. By now we've recovered from New Years day drinking and it's time to make 2018 the best year ever. Amazon is increasing fees essentially across the board - so you'll need to come up with some strategies to beat the fee increases. I feel there are 2 obvious things you can do to counteract the fee increases & one tip that might really make it a profitable year. All comes with work & effort so be prepared to put in the time needed to succeed. Second, we discuss how Goal Setting needs to be accompanied by a defined Plan AND Reward/Motivation. A goal without a plan is a wish. Turn your 2018 goals into a reality by developing a plan and are rewarded by a pre-determined benefit. I feel if you follow these steps in 2018, you should have a great year.

    Show #7 Google Adwords Tips

Have you tried Google Adwords but didn't have any success? Have you given up on using the most powerful traffic driver on the web? Today I walk you through my techniques I have used to buy over $250,000+ worth of ads over the last several years. Today's podcast will focus exclusively on text ads. First thing about a text ad that needs to draw the users attention is a good opening line. I like to ask a rhetorical question for my opening line. For example: User types "hotels in Hawaii" in a Google search. My title text line will be something like: Looking For The Best Hotels In Hawaii? Where Are The Best Hotels In Hawaii? Getting the user to read your title text and saying "yes" is a sales tactic that has been around for ages. It also helps qualify the user who clicks on your ad - which should drive up your click-through-rate (CTR). My tag-line, or the second line of text is often something that proclaims how great my website/content is or entices the reader to click. For example: The #1 Hawaii Hotel Site With Real Reviews Read My Personal Reviews Of Each Hotel! Top 5 Best Hotels In Hawaii Inside Google AdWords - you'll want to test at least 4 ads when you start out. After you start noticing the ad with the best CTR and results .... start eliminating the ads that aren't performing. At the same time, try to refine what is working to see if you can't get better results. After a while you should narrow it down to about 2 ads that rotate based on the users search term. After you start seeing how users convert on your website, start adjusting your bids based on device type. I often pay 2x - 3x+ for desktop (and tablet) traffic versus mobile traffic. However, if your site is converting really well for mobile, you might do the opposite. Use Google Analytics & different landing pages (with different affiliate/ad tracking) to judge what you ROI is and adjust your bids accordingly. When you first start your campaign in Adwords you might notice that it's hard to get your ads to run. Often times your quality score will be low - and you might be under the suggested first page bid. I would bid a bit higher than you really want to in order to get your ads to run. I've set up many campaigns where my quality score was low and I was paying $0.50+ per click. Those exact same campaigns now have 9/10 quality scores and I pay closer to $0.07 per click. In order to get Google's algo to notice you - get the ads to run and adjust down over time. Lastly keep testing & adjusting constantly. Once you feel like your conversions are dialed in - leave the campaign alone and transfer it to Bing/Yahoo to get even more traffic. You can also bid adjust for age/gender & location ... which can drive up your conversions even more. Let me know if you have any questions by leaving a comment below. Listen To Show #7 Below
