Two gals sharing experiences, stories and listener write-ins to help you feel less alone in this big, weird world. Want to join in on the conversation? RemotelyRelatablePod@gmail.com Each topic is released on our IG - @RemotelyRelatable
Every year we celebrate Women's History Month in March, so you'd think we'd be prepared to deliver this episode in March. We'll we recorded it in March! So it counts. We need it to count! Anyway, this episode details the amazing lives of two bad ass women, Artemisia Gentileschi & Amal Clooney (nee Alamuddin.) We would like to warn you that there is talk of sexual assault from around the 9:30-15min mark. Please feel free to skip ahead! We know it can be triggering to listen to, but felt it necessary to keep in, since it had such an impact on Artemisia's life and art. Don't worry, we continue with our usual antics of needing to google everything, talking smack on the Mr. George Clooney himself & praising women for the absolute powerhouses that they are. Hope you feel as inspired and energized as we do! Want to join in on the conversation? Find us on IG @RemotelyRelatable or send us an email: RemotelyRelatablePod@gmail.com
What do fear, guilt, personal goals, rewards, spite & accountability have in common? (no this isn't a dad joke...) They are all ways we MOTIVATE ourselves! Yup, you heard right. No more sweeping things under the rug! We are holding ourselves (and you!) accountable from here on out! And how exactly does that tie in to crops?! Well, we tie it all together in Remotely Relatable fashion, (meaning lots of scientific research and facts to back us up) so you'll have to listen to find out. Stephanie also makes a declaration of love, Julie blesses us with some helpful tips & as always, you guys sent in some amazing write-ins. Want to get in on the conversation? Find us on IG @RemotelyRelatable or email us at RemotelyRelatablePod@gmail.com
We don't know about you, but being in a pandemic for a year has really done a number on our confidence. (I mean, it was pretty shaky to start with, who are we kidding.) If you've ever looked at your body and thought "meh" or questioned if you worthy enough, we know exactly how you feel. Join us as we share some lifehacks, both beginner and advanced, so you can start the journey of taking back your power. (We never suggest anything that either of us haven't already done or don't already plan on doing. We are scientists, english scholars and proverbians, after all.) As always, your write-ins really help shed some light on some common confidence issues while also parting extremely useful truth bombs. We love you and want to see you live your most confident, bad ass life!
Have you heard of the "Scarcity vs Abundance" mindset? If not, you aren't alone! A lot of you had questions instead of write-ins, so we set out to research and give you our own synopsis. So what the heck is scarcity? What the heck is abundance? What is all this talk about pie!? Grab a fork and tune in! We might just have another recipe for ya! Our next episode is going to be all about Confidence & Empowerment - want to get in on the conversation? Email us at RemotelyRelatablePod@gmail.com or find us on IG @RemotelyRelatable
Have you every tried to "simplify" your life? We've both tried and it seems to be *just* out of reach. Between a severe thrifting addiction and constantly thinking "but I MIGHT need this!" - neither one of us has tasted the 'simple life' success. In a world constantly trying to overwhelm, overstimulate and overcomplicate us, we discuss simple ways (see what I did there?!) to start taking back control and finally getting a handle on all that STUFF. As always, listener write-ins show us new viewpoints and maybe even a solution or two! Email us: remotelyrelatablepod@gmail.com or find us on IG @RemotelyRelatable
With a new year comes New Years Resolutions, right? WRONG! This year we decided that we will be setting ourselves up to *manifest* our dreams into reality & we challenge you to do the same! Big dreams, small dreams, & all the dreams in-between! Not sure what that means or where to start? We have a few tips & tricks to get you started on your manifestation journey as well as some listener write-ins. We believe in you! Are you familiar with manifesting already? Have you used it successfully? We want to hear from you! Email us at RemotelyRelatablePod@gmail.com or find us on IG @RemotelyRelatable
Welcome 2021! We have been waiting for you with bated breath. We know its not a clean slate, but just the idea of leaving 2020 in the past is giving us hope. Whatever you went through, we want you to know you aren't alone. You don't need us to recap the shit-show that the year has been, so we decided to recap what we're grateful for, what we've learned and what we're looking forward to. Good riddance 2020! Don't let the door hit you on the way out!
Hold on to yer seats friends! This episode is quite the ride. We delve into some of our identifying traits but also the ones we struggle with & ones that have followed us since childhood. Have you had an existential crisis? Do you know who you are? If you had to choose a few words to define your identity, what would they be? As always, we find some humor in the relatable moments and read our listener write-ins, which are honestly better than anything we have to say! So buckle up with us as we explore all things "identity." Find us on IG @RemotelyRelatable or you can email us at RemotelyRelatablePod@gmail.com
Well folks, after a month long mental health hiatus, we're back!! And this episode is all about being independent. (Cue Destiny's Child) We learn that both of us had a speech impediment in our youth, independence is possibly tied to being introverted(?) and Julie gives the best advice she has (arguably) every given. Its honestly life changing. We read a few write-ins from you guys that make us rethink our entire existence, because what is a podcast without an existential crisis? Our next episode will be all about "Identity" - Want to add to the conversation? Find us on IG @RemotelyRelatable or email us RemotelyRelatablePod@gmail.com
We wanted to do a little something different to celebrate ten episodes, so we asked you guys to send in some issues you needed advice on. In true "anonymous advice column" style, we keep you anonymous & even tried to keep ourselves anonymous by using pseudonyms . From personal ruts to family issues to political signs (oh yeah - we went there!) we give you some pretty mediocre advice for all of life's curveballs. Stephanie is the queen of "one hundred percent" while Julie worries that maybe she is a one-upper?! (Aren't we all a little bit!?) So grab yourself a KitKat bar and take a break with us. Email at RemotelyRelatablepod@gmail.com or find us on IG @RemotelyRelatable Big thank you to everyone that wrote in. We appreciate your support!!
Do you set personal expectations for yourself that are so unrealistic that when you fall short you feel like a failure? Do you feel an overwhelming pressure to live up to societal expectations even if you know deep down its not the path for you? As a teenager, were you able to dictate what your life would be or were you given the illusion of choice? Yeah, US TOO. What's that old quote? "Shoot for the moon and if you miss, you'll land amongst the stars" - come hang out in the stars with us as we (try) to get to the root cause of societal & personal expectations & have even have a few epiphanies. Our next episode (our tenth!) is going to be a slightly different format, more of an advice column from the days yonder. So send us in your questions! As clean or Jerry Springer as you want & we will give you our advice! Email at RemotelyRelatablepod@gmail.com or find us on IG @RemotelyRelatable
There's no way to sugar coat it folks, we are burnt out. Like, to a *crisp.* We're willing to bet you're feeling the same. But have no fear! Its not all your fault! Society is set up to burn us out & boy, is it doing a great job. We might not know how to cure it, but we can sure try! Have something to add to the conversation? Email us at RemotelyRelatablePod@gmail.com or find us on IG @RemotelyRelatable Thanks again to everyone that wrote in about their own experiences with burnout. You are the real MVPs!
Fear might be natural and innate but that doesn't mean it can't totally paralyze us from living the life we want! If you've ever been or are currently afraid of: the unknown, rejection or failure (to name a few) then you are in good company! Join us as we explore these, and other fears, in a way that won't make you feel like you are battling them alone. We might even laugh a little as we discover some NEW fears..... just kidding... kind of. Want to join in on the conversation? Email us at RemotelyRelatablePod@gmail.com or find us on IG: @RemotelyRelatable Our next episode will be all about Toxicity, in all its forms. Send us any of your thoughts on that too!
Whats the difference between "self care" & "self love?" Do you feel like they have been over-prescribed as a cure-all? Do they negate a need for a partner? Does Stephanie realize she is actually a narcissist? Run a bath, eat some cake & settle in for a serious(ly silly) conversation on ego, boundaries & how to start down the road of self acceptance. You are your own best friend after all, might as well figure out how to love yourself! Have something to add to the convo? We wanna hear it! Send us a message on IG @remotelyrelatable or email at: remotelyrelatablepod@gmail.com Our next episode will be all about fear - not the typical fears like heights or spiders, but the deep, keep you up at night kind of fear. Also known as anxiety? Get in on the convo and tell us what fear means to you.
The theme of this weeks episode is near and dear to our hearts: creativity. We've both struggled with it our whole lives & have realized everyone we know has too. "Creative" is a loaded word that some think is reserved for a specific few. We are here to tell you, that ain't true! We are all creative, it just manifests differently. We go over the definitions of creativity, what it actually means to us, our ways of (trying) to incorporate little rebellious acts of creativity & some write ins from you guys! If you've ever struggled with creativity or think maybe you *aren't* creative, let us try to change your mind!
"Are you SURE you don't want kids?" "You'll change your mind, you'll see." "That clock is a tickin!" If you've experienced any (or all) of the above, you know all too well what it's like being a childless woman over the age of thirty (or any child bearing age, really.) And while we love kids & think motherhood is amazing and beautiful for those who want to be mothers, it just ain't for us! So have kids, don't have kids - we don't care! You are beautiful and worthy just as you are. Join us as we un-expertly talk about our experiences & maybe we'll go off on a tangent or two.
For our third episode, we wanted to share inspiring stories of bad ass women of color who left indelible marks upon the world. Although their stories take place during different time periods, they faced similar issues regarding race, sex and freedom. They had the courage to be themselves, stand up for justice and change history along the way. They helped to pave the way for the modern civil & LGBTQ+ rights movements. Whether it was starting a revolution in the 60's, studying folklore and traditions or writing about the true darkness that plagued the Jim Crow South, these women GOT SHIT DONE! We were both incredibly inspired and hope you are too. We will continue to show up, learn and fight to squash the bugs of injustice that still plague this country. If we missed anything or know of another bad ass woman (there are plenty!!) send it our way at remotelyrelatablepod@gmail.com
As we celebrate our one year friendiversary, we thought it would be the perfect time to talk about the elephant in the room: adult friendships. Have you ever struggled with making new, lasting friendships as an adult? Do you suffer from depression, loneliness and constantly question your self worth? Does it seem like everyone else is out doing things but you?! US TOO! Join us as we laugh our way through our own adult friendship story and create our own recipe for making friends. Follow us on instagram! @remotelyrelatable s Send in your own stories about adult relationships to: RemotelyRelatablePod@gmail.com
