What a thrill it was to have hip-hop legend DC Glenn, aka DC The Brain Supreme, from TAG TEAM as our special guest this week!  With his musical partner Steve Rollin, Tag Team rose to prominence in the early '90s with one of the most greatest party jams of all time, "Whoomp!  There It Is".  The song has been so ubiquitous and enduring over the past 28 years that Tag Team were back again in 2021 with everyone's favorite GEICO commercial, "Scoop!  There It Is".  Sprinkles!  DC shares some amazing stories about the song, career and some valuable and inspirational life lessons about tenacity, triumph, education and creating your own opportunities to thrive and become invaluable.  There is some serious TED Talk level greatness going on here, folks.  The main episode contains our abridged conversation with DC, but you don't not want to miss the entire conversation in our special bonus episode. Today's guest is Kevin McLemore, and he's a podcast host, fitness trainer, and the author of the new book Dating with a Full Deck. In this week's episode, Kevin shares his relationship experience, lessons he's learned through marriage, divorce, and dating, and why you need to be honest with yourself before bringing others into your life. Kevin will discuss why we need to take responsibility for our actions because we have choices and chances in life. It's what you make of those opportunities that matter. We talk about how dreams become realities when you align perfectly behind them, how to become the hero of your journey to love and why you need to come into dating with a full deck. Kevin McLemore is a strength and endurance is coach, track and field coach, marketing specialist, trainer to Ironman athletes, and three Squash World Champions. He's also a television spokesperson. Through the power of story, Kevin is an inspirational speaker encouraging others to reach personal growth. He wants to help continue to improve other people's lives, like his mentor, the famed motivational speaker Les Brown. He's a social activist, Founder of RMK Productions 10 United Podcast Network, co-hosting podcasts such as Talking "Wit" Kevin and Son, Story Time and Wine, and One Queen Two Kings. He's previously published three books, Letters to Elvis, Sprinkles the True Spirit of Christmas and The Indispensable Game of X's and O's, How I learned Everything I'd Ever Need To Know About by Playing High School Football.Today Shot@Love dive's into Dating with a Full Deck, a book that provides a tangible set of tools, that if applied to your interactions, will lead to the kind of conversations that will allow you to figure out if someone is compatible or not. This book also comes with a deck of cards that act as a conversation started that will leave you laughing and learning an awful lot about the other person setting you up for success when dating. Kerry Brett and Kevin McLemore cover a lot of ground topics include:We have choices and chances in life, and it's what we do with those opportunities matters. When dating, approach conversations authentically and genuinely. Why do most people screw up on the first date?Don't complicate your life by trying to be someone that you're not.Why it's so important just to be yourself when dating.Don't go looking for a person that will become your loan officer, bodyguard, babysitter, trophy, chef, or maid. If that's your aim, you'll only be left feeling empty in the end.Develop what's inside, develop your character, and everything will fall into place.Life gives you two choices, stay down or get up.Be honest with yourself before you bring someone else into your life. The truth will set you free.Do not wish for what you're not willing to work for.To find out more about Kevin McLemore, go to www.rmkproductions.net. News: The crowds at the Disneyland Resort have been quite mild recently. This can be attributed to Southern California schools being back in session, and the imminent availability of the Magic Key program. Locals are now waiting for the Magic Key to go on sale to get access to the parks, instead of purchasing a higher priced 1-5 day ticket. For guests visiting, the attraction wait times have been in the 10 to 20 minute range for much of the week. If you are able, right now is a great time to go to the parks. Time will tell how the crowds will look after the Magic Key program launches next week. – https://www.micechat.com/298965-disneyland-update-the-shocking-calm-before-magic-keys-unlock-a-storm/ For guests that have been waiting to get tickets to the Oogie Boogie Bash Halloween parties this year, there is still time! Currently, September 9, 12, 16, and 19th are available, with no dates in October. The event was a ghoulishly fun time in 2019, and we are excited to go this year! The candy trails, decorations, entertainment, and atmosphere are totally worth the ticket price to this event. – https://www.micechat.com/298965-disneyland-update-the-shocking-calm-before-magic-keys-unlock-a-storm/ To go along with our news from last week that the bread bowls were being made in the parks again, the Bakery Tour has reopened. The location does have limited hours for the time being, from 8am to 3pm. Also of note in the area are the closing times of the dining locations in this area of the park. DCA closes at 10pm nightly currently, with Rita's Baja Blenders closing at 7pm, Lucky Fortune Cookery closing at 8pm, and Cocina Cucamonga closing at 9pm. So, be sure to check times when thinking of food in the evenings. – https://www.micechat.com/298965-disneyland-update-the-shocking-calm-before-magic-keys-unlock-a-storm/ As time rolls on, more entertainment is returning to the parks slowly. This past week, the Bootstrappers are back performing their shanties in New Orleans Square. We hope that more entertainment returns soon like the Dapper Dans on Main Street. – https://www.micechat.com/298965-disneyland-update-the-shocking-calm-before-magic-keys-unlock-a-storm/ For listeners who will be in the resort area this weekend, there will be a cupcake decorating activity at Downtown Disney as a promotion for the new Disney Channel show “Disney's Magic Bake-Off.” The decoration will take place Friday, August 20th, through Sunday, August 22nd at 5, 6, and 7pm. The event is free, with limited space. Participants must register in Downtown Disney starting at 4pm each day. Participants will decorate a cupcake with Disneyland Resort Pastry Chef Gracie Gomez. – https://www.mouseplanet.com/13003/Disneyland_Resort_Update_for_August_16__22_2021#news3 Some new Coco merchandise will be coming to Disneyland, Disney World, and shopDisney this September. A long-sleeved “Remember Me” shirt, with the saying on the front and Miguel on the shoulder, as well as a Loungefly backpack featuring Miguel, Hector, marigolds, and sugar skulls. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/08/photos-new-coco-loungefly-backpack-and-apparel-coming-to-disney-parks-and-shopdisney-in-september/ The Walt Disney Company quarterly earnings call was last week, here are some highlights. CEO Bob Chapek is enthusiastic about the upcoming Disney Genie app stating “guests will spend less time in line and more time having fun,” but also commented that it will offer the company “substantial commercial opportunities.” The U.S. parks saw the first profitable quarter since the pandemic began in 2020. The international parks are still posting a loss at this time. Disney+ has grown to 116 million subscribers, and November 12th will be Disney+ day, where new shows and movies will be announced for the platform. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/08/wdwnt-daily-recap-8-12-21-disney-releases-q3-earnings-report-walt-disney-world-50th-anniversary-merchandise-arrives-and-more/ The Spa part of the Grand Californian Hotel and Spa is reopening soon! On September 16th, the Tenaya Stone Spa will open for guests. Reservations can be made online for guests of the Disney Hotels for now, with general availability coming at a later date. The name Tenaya translates from the indigenous cultures of the Yosemite Valley as “to dream.” The spa embraces the concept of the natural order of 4, being laid out according to the 4 directions, and aligned with the 4 colors of red, white, black, and yellow. For a list of all the services offered, and to book a visit, check out the link in our show notes. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/08/13/opening-date-announced-for-the-tenaya-stone-spa-at-disneyland-resort/#more-537815 and https://www.micechat.com/298918-disneylands-imagineering-designed-tenaya-stone-spa-set-for-september-opening/ For those of you who visited Disneyland prior to the late 90s, you might remember the plain concrete walkways that were painted to differentiate the different land that you were in. Since then, the park has slowly replaced the concrete with either concrete that has decorative elements in it, like in Frontierland, or brick pavers like much of Main Street sidewalks, Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland. One of the last bits of this plain concrete is being replaced in front of the Fantasyland Theater at the entrance to Toontown. – https://www.micechat.com/298965-disneyland-update-the-shocking-calm-before-magic-keys-unlock-a-storm/ A refreshing sweet treat is available at the Hungry Bear Restaurant in Critter Country. The Watermelon Lemonade Freese with Whipped Cream and Sprinkles is a frozen drink that is reminiscent of watermelon Jolly Ranchers with frozen lemonade. The Disney Food Blog really liked this one, but warned it is not for guests without a sweet tooth. The drink is $5.99 at the Hungry Bear. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/08/14/review-did-we-just-find-one-of-the-best-frozen-drinks-in-disneyland/#more-538404 Discussion Topic: Chris from DisneyChris.com

There is no overnight success. However, there is hustle. DC Glenn is a platinum-selling rapper, actor, voice-over professional and featured in Geico's “SCOOP THERE IT IS” commercial. DC shares with Kevin that his path to stardom was rather bumpy. He worked hard to get a label and signed a terrible contract. Instead of feeling sorry for himself, he studied the law and waited for his day in court. This continuous learning attitude and preparedness for new ventures gave him the chance to not only star in the #1 commercial but provide input to the content. Sprinkles, anyone? He encourages us to step out of our comfort zone and be OK with things that don't work out. Failures can lead to good things if we look for the opportunity. In this episode, DC talks about: Learning how to learn. Value of preparation. This episode is brought to you by… Unleashing Your Remarkable Potential, Kevin's free weekly e-newsletter. What can you do NOW to help you create your confident birth. Today we talk with a graduate of The Online Prenatal Class for Couples about her birth experience and what helped her feel confident. Today's guest is Alejandra Aldridge -- graduate of The Online Prenatal Class for Couples. Here's a bit more about her: Alejandra is a PhD candidate in political science at Stanford University. She grew up in a small town in the Hartford, CT region as the third of five girls, and spent her time reading books, excelling on her school's tennis team, and making messes in the kitchen for her mom to clean up. After graduating from high school she made her way to Brigham Young University in Utah where she earned a BA in Political Science, and then made her way to the Bay Area for grad school at Stanford, where she met her husband in her local church congregation. They had their first baby recently, and benefited greatly from taking the Pulling Curls prenatal class. In addition to her undying love of tennis (and Roger Federer), she also enjoys Sprinkles cupcakes, CrossFit, gossip from The Bachelor, and dark chocolate. Big thanks to our sponsor The Online Prenatal Class for Couples-- if you're looking to have a confident, collaborative birth, it's the class for you! In this episode 3 things Alejandra did to have her confident birth, plus some things she learned about herself along the way. Producer: Drew Erickson
