Dis redelik eenvoudig. Hou julle oë op My.En kyk hoe eenvoudig is Jesus se opdrag: "Volg My." Draai vinnig. Fokus jou oë weer op Jesus. In this week's episode of the world's-fastest-movie-review podcast, Jackson and Mike review TWO new films!!! First, "THE DINK" Former tennis standout Dusty Boyd turns to the booming world of pickleball in an effort to save his family's struggling country club. Along the way, he rediscovers his competitive spirit while navigating family relationships, old rivalries, and an unlikely second chance. Starring Jake Johnson, Ed Harris, Mary Steenburgen, Ben Stiller, Chloe Fineman, Patton Oswalt, Andy Roddick, John McEnroe, and Aaron Chen. Directed by Josh Greenbaum. Then, a quick review of "LARS SHRIKE WALKS THE NIGHT" A mysterious man named Lars Shrike awakens in a desolate landscape knowing only his name and that he has escaped. As memories, hallucinations, and reality blur together, his search for identity becomes an increasingly surreal journey through a world where every answer deepens the mystery. Starring Kelsey Grammer, David Clennon, Christine Lin, Kati Schwartz, Will Amato, Bobby Furst, Laurie Drayton, Emmy Collins, and Elizabeth Gorcey. Written and directed by Gary Walkow.
The Dink is pickleball's very funny new entry into the classic genre of sports comedies. In the new film, Jake Johnson stars as a washed-up tennis underachiever whose loyalties become divided after befriending a pickleball player played by Mary Steenburgen. It's got a contest with huge stakes and a surprising dose of heart, and the jokes make it over the net. In this week's episode of the Filmmaker's Podcast, host Dom Lenoir takes the reins while Giles Alderson is away in Bulgaria. We are thrilled to welcome back director Josh Greenbaum for an esteemed "hat trick" third appearance on the show, along with actor and screenwriter Sean Clements. We dive into their new film, The Dink, a pickleball sports comedy that captures the nostalgic magic of late 90s and 2000s filmmaking. While the film brings the laughs, it also tackles universal and relatable themes like parental pressure, coaching aspirations, identity, ego, and pursuing second chances in your 40s. Josh and Sean share their filmmaking process, discussing how to successfully direct non-actors and improvisers, the art of trimming "precious" scenes for the greater good of the movie, and what it was like collaborating with producer Ben Stiller. What We Discuss in This Episode: The Return of Josh Greenbaum: Celebrating Josh's third appearance on the podcast and why he was drawn to The Dink as his next project. The World of Pickleball: Exploring the absurdity, accessibility, and real-life tennis community controversy surrounding the fastest-growing racket sport. Nostalgic Comedy & Themes: Harking back to classic 90s/2000s comedies like Happy Gilmore, Best in Show, Dodgeball, and The Wedding Singer, while exploring universal themes of identity, ego, and parental pressure. Screenwriting Origins: Sean Clements shares his personal journey as a former junior tennis player, his initial resistance to pickleball, and how finding an unlikely community of older players inspired the script. Collaborating with Ben Stiller: How Ben Stiller came on board to produce, his script notes, and how he helped bring former pro tennis player Andy Roddick into the cast. Directing Improvisers & Non-Actors: Josh's philosophy on creating a safe set where actors aren't afraid to fail, letting comedic talents like Aaron Chen ad-lib, and guiding dramatic actors like Ed Harris and non-actors like Andy Roddick to play their roles straight for maximum comedic effect. Kill Your Darlings (What's Good for the Movie): Sean talks about the transition from sitcom writing to feature films and a pivotal note from Josh on shortening a dramatic scene to serve the overall pacing of the film. The Power of Music: Using needle drops (from country music to Britney Spears' "Work Bitch") and score by Dara Taylor to drive character and emotional tone. Summer Filmmaking Advice: Dom's closing thoughts on how filmmakers can balance taking a summer break while prepping development and location scouting for the September autumn rush. Host: Dom Lenoir Guests: Josh Greenbaum & Sean Clements The DINK is our now on APPLE TV #TheDink #JoshGreenbaum #SeanClements #Pickleball #SportsComedy #Filmmaking #Screenwriting #Directing #BenStiller #AppleTV #TheFilmmakersPodcast #IndieFilm #Podcast Learn more about your ad choices. This week on NAFC, Gibbs has officially fallen into the pickleball rabbit hole, leading the crew to discuss the sport's ridiculous rise in popularity, why everyone seems to be playing it, and whether it deserves all the hype. They also check out The Dink, because apparently pickleball has its own movie now.The conversation drifts back to the 2026 World Cup, where Argentina somehow earns the title of tournament villains, before spiraling into one of the stranger tangents of the episode involving Jigglypuff... and way more body hair than anyone asked for. Then comes the biggest plot twist of the night: Gibbs audibles at the last second, ditching Fateful Findings in favor of Miss March (2009) as the final entry in the Stupid Fucking Shit theme. The gang wraps things up by revisiting this raunchy late-2000s comedy to determine whether it was a hidden comedy gem or exactly the kind of stupid fucking shit they were looking for.Support us on Patreon!

On this week's Empire Podcast, Helen O'Hara slides into the host's chair in the Comic-Con-related absence of Chris Hewitt, and together, she, James Dyer and Amon Warmann come up with some of the greatest dog movies, suggest classic myths that could be turned into movies, swap outlandish theories about Avengers: Doomsday, talk about the movie news that broke before Comic-Con, and review The Dink, 72 Hours, and Deep Water. Guest-wise, for the first time in a while we have two in one episode, with Chris talking (via AirPods, thanks to technical difficulties) to The Dink star and all-round legend, Mary Steenburgen [26:54 - 44:27 approx], and then to old podcast stalwart, Tom Hiddleston, who whisks Chris away to actual Pompeii to talk about Hiddleston's new Disney+ docu-drama, Pompeii: Out Of Time, and display dazzling proficiency in Latin. [1:02:35 - 1:20:01 approx] Enjoy.

Brian catches up with Adam Holz of Plugged In for their weekly look at movies and streaming through a Christian lens. They dig into swirling controversy over whether Rotten Tomatoes scores for Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey are being manipulated, and why inflated IMAX ticket prices may be masking softer actual attendance. Adam reviews Netflix's full reboot of Little House on the Prairie, a faithful if lower-stakes retelling of the Ingalls family's move to Kansas. They also cover The Dink, a PG-13 pickleball-versus-tennis sports comedy on Apple TV with plenty of sensuality and language to watch for, and Bad Counselors, an unusual Fathom Events satire that mashes up Christian camp culture with a hungover-college-kids premise — irreverent but ultimately well-intentioned for a high-school-and-up audience.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Yep, we're reviewing a movie called THE DINK (1:38), named after a type of shot in Pickleball - a real sport - called a "dink." No, we're not making that up, and yes, Evan and Dave really watched this movie, which stars Jake Johnson, Mary Steenburgen, and Ed Harris. Johnson is a long-washed up tennis player, Steenburgen is his pickleball partner, and Harris is his father. Anyway, one member of Spoilerpiece really liked THE DINK, and one just hated it. Hated it. Can you guess which is the liker and which one isn't? Over on Patreon, we talk about the 1986 film STAR TREK IV: THE VOYAGE HOME, in honor of its fortieth anniversary.
