Send us a textWatch on YouTube!Nia Ford returns to unpack the deep, quiet ways texturism affects Black women's relationship with their hair, from childhood experiences to adult self-acceptance. We explore how external criticism and family dynamics shape our perception of beauty, particularly for those with kinky, coily textures. Nia shares how her childhood love for big hair shifted after hearing classmates with looser textures praised for having “good hair,” and we discuss the role family members play in either perpetuating or challenging texturism, including how parents with different hair textures approach their children's hair. She rejects the concept of “bad hair” entirely, favoring the idea of “healthy” versus “unhealthy” hair, and addresses how shrinkage often causes people to underestimate both the length and beauty of type 4 hair. We also explore the importance of finding products that work specifically for your hair type rather than following trends, reframing hair care from being a “chore” to an act of self-love and acceptance, and why giving your hair a name (like Tabitha Brown's “Donna”) can foster a more loving relationship with your natural texture. Finally, we examine the mixed impact of social media on texturism and natural hair acceptance..Stay connected with Nia by following her social media accounts  and website below:Visit her website to schedule a makeover.Join her Facebook Community to gain insightful information on makeup.Follow her on Instagram for visual representation of her art. Support the showAre you a part of our Patreon Community and Family?Join us today and let's continue building and fostering healthier connections with our hair—from the inside out. Overcoming Self-Doubt and Strengthening Self-Belief Through Faith Many purpose-driven individuals—especially women—struggle with self-doubt. Trusting yourself and stepping into your calling can feel overwhelming without the right mindset and spiritual foundation. However, with faith and intentional practices, overcoming self-doubt becomes not only possible—it becomes transformative. Recognize the Root of Self-Doubt Overcoming self-doubt begins with understanding its root. It often takes hold during challenging seasons—when you're stuck in survival mode, simply trying to make it through the day. During these times, confidence feels distant, and dreaming big seems out of reach. Yet even in these moments, you have the power to choose faith. Lean into it. Remember, the Lord has a plan for you—even when your current season feels uncertain. His purpose is unfolding, even in the waiting. Embrace Faith as the Foundation To move forward in your purpose, faith must become your foundation. Trusting in God and believing that He has called and equipped you allows you to walk with courage, not fear. Faith shifts your focus from your limitations to God's limitless power. Joshua 1:9 reminds us, “Be strong and courageous...for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” When you embrace this truth, overcoming self-doubt becomes less about striving and more about surrendering to divine strength and guidance. Cultivate Self-Belief Through Faith Another essential step in overcoming self-doubt is rebuilding your self-belief through the lens of faith. Your fears do not define you—you are who God says you are. Well Jess went to IG Live and let everyone know how she felt and then went to work the next day like nothing happened. Speaking of The Breakfast Club, Phylicia Rashad made a visit to the show and spoke about the young women today dressing too revealing and not leaving anything to imagination of men. While Jerrilyn and Lynee respect Ms. Phylicia Rashad, they did not agree with what she had to say about the way women dress. The host also spoke about Target dropping many Black owned vendors in their store due to their diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives and Tabitha Brown’s response. Tabitha Brown has come under scrutiny about not boycotting Target but now it seems like she may be on the chopping block as well in Target. Also, are you having sex on the first date.
