"As I stood about six feet away from him, looking at his beautiful little brown eyes, and Tuffy looked right back into my eyes and actually through my soul. And at that moment, I felt like it was quite emotional, and it really felt like he knew what was going on and understood everything that was going on." – Ana Paula Tavares For decades, chimpanzees in the United States were used in biomedical research, sent into space, kept as pets, and made to perform for our entertainment. Many spent years, some most of their lives, in cages, separated from other chimpanzees, and denied almost everything that would have made their lives their own. Save the Chimps exist to give some of those lives back. On 150 acres in Florida, more than 200 rescued chimpanzees live in large family groups on island habitats. Some arrive knowing exactly what to do with grass and open sky. Others have spent so long on concrete and behind bars that it can take months or even years before they feel safe enough to step outside. Ana Paula Tavares is the CEO of Save the Chimps. She came to the sanctuary after a career that took her from studying dance in New York to working in conservation around the world. But until Save the Chimps, she had never even met a chimpanzee. In this conversation, we talk about Taffy, Tonka, Vanilla, and some of the other extraordinary chimpanzees at the sanctuary. What happens when an animal has spent decades in captivity and sees open sky or feels grass for the first time. And what chimpanzees can teach us about friendship, forgiveness, family, and second chances. As Ana Paula says, "for many of the chimpanzees at Save the Chimps, the greatest gift we can give them isn't the islands or the open space. It's each other."

Okay, we all know vanilla has been trending for ages now, but WHY does it proveso popular? We think half the reason is the sheer diversity of vanillas available, and the incredibly high-quality materials perfumers are able to use these days.Plus the fact that vanilla continues to be one of the most universally adoredscents. Love them or loathe them, we feel sure there's truly something for everytaste (and maybe some that will surprise or even shock you) in this week'sepisode...Now, obviously, we mean five favourites *each*, we couldn't possibly containthem all to only five vanillas when there are SO many excellent varieties ofvanilla fragrances around these days. We have to say, though, f you're a vanillanaysayer, please don't shy away from this episode, as we've versions that seguefrom the just-launched and fabulously tobacco-filled, the sweetly tempting andaddictive you might expect, to the mind-blowingly modern and unlike any vanillayou've ever smelled.Encompassing hip-swivelling seduction, a stunning body butter, hugely powerfulfragrant talismans, and summery every-day wearability, there's also a trulyaffordable modern classic vanilla – created by a Master Perfumer who trained atChanel, created scents for Frederic Malle, Guerlain, Gucci, Amouage andAtkinsons, but THIS one can be snapped up for under £30!While some of our top vanillas crossed over, we also surprised each other withsome of our choices. Ya know...sometimes Billy Idol is just a better choice for a lead singer. This week's guest on Discover New Music is Billy Morrison. His new record "Hollow" features some of the biggest names in music, but make no mistake, it's still 100% Billy Morrison! Morrison talks about how he decides if he'll sing on a song or he'll let another artist handle vocals...the most important part is doing justice to the actual song itself and for the listener. And even though it was on his previous record, Morrison takes some time to reminisce about working with the late, great Ozzy Osbourne. As always a quick round of Rapid Fire is played...sorry Vanilla, you lost another one!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
You can feel the moment a relationship is ready for more, but you can also feel the fear that comes with it. I'm talking about how to bring a D/s dynamic into an established partnership in a way that protects trust, builds confidence, and keeps the connection warm, erotic, and real. I read a listener message that perfectly captures what many couples experience: a new dominant partner hesitates, then one honest reaction gives her permission to grow into leadership through protocol and ritual. From there, I go deeper into what makes female domination and a female-led relationship so powerful, especially inside a “vanilla” marriage that's exploring kink at home. We talk about why consensual power exchange doesn't diminish masculinity, why confident men can surrender with security, and how chastity can become more than a cage. When it's grounded in respect and devotion, chastity turns into a clear symbol of loyalty and intentional submission.I also share an emotional frequency chart and explain how awareness of shame, guilt, fear, anger, pride, courage, acceptance, love, joy, peace, and even enlightenment can change the way you show up in your relationship. If you've ever worried you're “too much,” not enough, or one mistake will ruin everything, this framework helps you catch the spiral and move back toward calm, honesty, and connection.Listen now, then subscribe, share the episode with someone who's curious, and leave a review so more couples can find this kind of support. This episode is all about nonviolent homeschool communication — specifically, the patterns that make it harder than it needs to be. Nonviolent homeschool communication starts here — with understanding these old patterns. And there is one book that has shaped how I think about this more than any other. I’ve read a lot of books on relationships, parenting, connection, and attachment over the years — more than I can count. But Marshall Rosenberg’s Nonviolent Communication is the one I keep coming back to. For me, it is the bible of relationships and communication. And it has changed how I show up in my homeschool in ways I didn’t expect. Here’s what it taught me. https://youtu.be/J7kN_HHX52c?si=jZyaiXFDGyilrnsw But first, how does Marshall Rosenberg define nonviolent communication? NVC (aka Nonviolent Communication) is a language of life that helps us transform old patterns of defensiveness and aggressiveness into compassion and empathy and to improve the quality of all of our relationships. (Definition provided by the Center for Non-Violent Communication). We all have old patterns that need to be transformed. And we definitely notice we have reactive, defensive, and aggressive patterns when we attempt to create relationships. Certainly, we notice this when we saturate ourselves in the homeschool parenting role. The 4 NVC Components That Transform Nonviolent Homeschool Communication Observation: Observation without evaluation consists of noticing concrete things and actions around us. We learn to distinguish between judgment and what we sense in the present moment and to simply observe what is there. Feeling: When we notice things around us, we inevitably experience varying emotions and physical sensations in each particular moment. Here, distinguishing feelings from thoughts is an essential step in the NVC process. Needs: All individuals have needs and values that sustain and enrich their lives. When those needs are met, we experience comfortable feelings, like happiness or peacefulness, and when they are not, we experience uncomfortable feelings, like frustration. Understanding that we, as well as those around us, have these needs is perhaps the most important step in learning to practice NVC and live empathically. Request: To make clear and present requests is crucial to NVC's transformative mission. When we learn to request concrete actions that can be carried out in the present moment, we begin to find ways to cooperatively and creatively ensure that everyone's needs are met. (Definitions provided by the Center for Non-Violent Communication). Here’s how each component transforms homeschool communication in real life. Lesson One — The Homeschool Communication Shift That Changes Everything “What I want in my life is compassion, a flow between myself and others based on a mutual giving from the heart.” ― Marshall B. Rosenberg, Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life This is what we all want: we want a flow within ourselves and between us. But we’re not all trained to enable that flow. We have walls built up to defend ourselves; sometimes we even have spikes and landmines built up to defend ourselves. Either way, those defenses don’t build relationships. Vulnerability and authenticity allow relationships to expand and grow. Nonviolent homeschool communication requires this foundation first — self-compassion. And that is an easy thing to say and a less easy thing to do. Big Emotions Journal for the Homeschool Mom Are you a homeschool mom navigating the ups and downs of daily life with your kids? Introducing the Homeschool Mama's Toolbox—a powerful resource to help you manage big emotions like anger, guilt, or overwhelm with clarity and intention. $9.99 Original price was: $9.99.$6.99Current price is: $6.99. Shop now Lesson Two — Homeschool Communication and Grace “All violence is the result of people tricking themselves into believing that their pain derives from other people and that consequently, those people deserve to be punished.” ― Marshall B. Rosenberg, Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life We do what we do because that is what we know to do in the scenario at the time. And in the words of Maya Angelou, “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.“ If we have a growth mindset about life and relationships, how we show up will shift over time. Growth changes everything. Over time, we show up differently in the same scenarios — five, ten, or twenty years later — if we choose that path. Looking back in regret and shame is one option. Forgiving ourselves and growing is another. And when we grow humble and self-aware enough, we realize that others aren’t trying to intentionally cause us pain or friction either. Punishment didn’t teach us when we simply didn’t know better. It won’t serve the people engaging us wrongly now either. So we choose grace — the same grace we’d want extended to our own growing selves. This shift in perspective is at the heart of nonviolent homeschool communication. Lesson Three — What Anger Is Really Telling You “At the core of all anger is a need that is not being fulfilled.” ― Marshall B. Rosenberg, Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life Anger is that mighty sharp tip of an iceberg that protects our fragile hearts. It’s a useful tool to self-protect. But it also protects or keeps us from connecting with others if we self-protect too hard. Under the mighty iceberg of anger’s sharp tip is a whole lotta other big emotions. You name the emotion, it’s there. And those emotions are always fueled by our unmet needs. Nonviolent homeschool communication asks us to address those needs directly rather than react to the emotion on the surface. So we need to address our own needs and respectfully request that others meet our needs, so that we don’t spend our lives reactively, angrily demanding others meet our needs, and/or never connecting with ourselves or others. Lesson Four — The Danger of Not Knowing Yourself “We are dangerous when we are not conscious of our responsibility for how we behave, think, and feel.” ― Marshall B. Rosenberg, Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life You know when you’re not a parent and you have heaped judgments on your own parents parenting approaches BUT THEN you have kids??? And all you can think to yourself is DANG, this parenting thing is only easy when I’m not doing it. (& also, I can see now that my parents were doing the best they could do with what they knew to do in their parenting years, no matter how unhealthy things were). Because parenting is SO CHALLENGING at times. Every parenting book I’ve read had something to say. And I’ve appreciated most of them for something. But this core point, that we need to grow in self-awareness and self-compassion has had the most impact on my parenting approach. I’ve made the gamut of parenting mistakes. I really have. Which means I have regret. (& lest you try to console me for my perfectly imperfect parenting, I will go to my grave regretting them, but I also don’t fuel them with self-contempt). Self-shaming won’t change how I engage my kids now. Mistakes were made — I’m human. Healthy examples weren’t always available to me, and no matter how many parenting books or hours in a therapist’s office, I was bound to struggle with this one relationship: the relationship with myself. My defenses and my reactiveness towards things that hurt me or offended me or confused me were my instinctive armour and battle gear that I brought into my family life, as a wife, and as a mother. I wish this weren’t true. But it is. I had (& still have) armour and battle gear. Do I like that? Hell no. Will it serve me to pretend that these patterns weren’t mine at the beginning of my family journey? Again, hell no. I’ve learned that including practices in self-awareness has helped me see me a little more clearly (a little more, because there will always be room for more self-awareness, I’ll never see myself clearly). Or in the words of Carl Rogers, “The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” Self-awareness is the foundation of nonviolent homeschool communication — and this is where it starts. Lesson Five — You Are Not Vanilla “My theory is that we get depressed because we're not getting what we want, and we're not getting what we want because we have never been taught to get what we want. Instead, we've been taught to be good little boys and girls and good mothers and fathers. If we're going to be one of those good things, better get used to being depressed. Depression is the reward we get for being “good.” But, if you want to feel better, I'd like you to clarify what you would like people to do to make life more wonderful for you.” ― Marshall B. Rosenberg, Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life If we don’t acknowledge who we are, that we are separate people, and that we have separate needs, we force ourselves to go underground. Our identity becomes like vanilla ice cream. Vanilla is a flavour of ice cream, sure (aka it’s a personality of ice cream types, though it is a basic personality). But it doesn’t have a specific personality, a particular flavour, or a particular texture. It has an entry-level nothingness. (Clearly vanilla is not my favourite. Bring on the peppermint chocolate chip). But we each aren’t vanilla personalities: we have our own flair, our own flavour, and our own textures. We are unique and are meant to be here for a special purpose. When we put our efforts toward being good or right, enabling ourselves to go undercover, we aren’t really us. And so does our nonviolent homeschool communication. And when we put our efforts toward fully accepting all of our parts, and each of our needs, and acknowledging our real selves, we flourish. The Homeschool Communication Tool I Use Every Day The very most important thing I gain from Marshall Rosenberg’s book, Nonviolent Communication, is this fill-in-the-blank statement. It is a useful tool: a fill-in-the-blank conversation “instruction manual” to address my needs and request someone to engage my needs (which, not coincidentally when you practice doing this for you, makes it awfully easy to engage for others too). When I see that______________ I feel ______________ because my need for ________________ is/is not met. Would you be willing to __________________? This single sentence changed my nonviolent homeschool communication more than any other tool I’ve found. So my goal in my relationships with my kids and my relationship with my partner is to make observations, clarify and express my feelings, declare my underlying needs, and ask for my needs to be met. That simple. And not easy at all. If you want to go deeper in nonviolent homeschool communication Here are three ways I can support you: Reading That Restores You — Book Club Newsletter Every Wednesday morning, a warm, thoughtful reflection lands in your inbox drawn from the books we’re exploring together — including Nonviolent Communication. Vanilla to Vixen Podcast Episode 205: Sizzling Parties & BBC Swingers Review After two wild, packed weeks host-side at the V2V Club in Nuneaton, Mr & Mrs N are finally back in the studio to lift the lid on what went down behind the scenes. They share the hilarious highlights from the fortnight, including a very cheeky, lifestyle-inspired adaptation of the fairground classic Hook A Duck that quickly became the standout hit of the night. Later in the episode, the couple tackles the bigger and more serious conversation currently rocking the lifestyle community: the recent BBC podcast series hosted by Catrin Nye. Mr & Mrs N share their raw, unfiltered reaction to the mainstream coverage. Did the BBC treat the Swinging community fairly or was it all tarnished with the same brush?
Welcome back to The Bourbon Road, recorded live at the Bourbon Road Bar in Simpsonville, Kentucky. Hosts Jim Shannon and Todd settle in for a double-barrel recording day — two episodes back to back — and they've dedicated this session entirely to finished whiskeys. Four bottles make it to the mat tonight, each one showcasing a different finishing technique: rum barrels, French and Appalachian oak staves, honey-coated barrels, and maple syrup casks. It is a sweet, sessionable lineup that ranges from 101 to 110 proof, proving that finished whiskeys can be approachable without sacrificing character. On the Tasting Mat: - Wheel Horse Double Mash Whiskey, Finished in Caribbean Rum Barrels (101 proof): A limited-edition blend of Green River Straight Bourbon (70% corn, 21% rye, 9% malted barley) and Straight Rye (95.5% rye), each aged a minimum of five years and then finished for up to two years in three styles of Caribbean rum barrels. Distilled at Latitude Spirits (Green River), MSRP $45. The nose opens with molasses, leather, and cooked brown sugar — rich but not heavy. On the palate it delivers a sweet, easy-drinking profile with a noticeable rye bite and a finish that runs a little shy. An excellent candidate for cocktails, highballs, or a few cubes. *(00:03:20)* - Gypsy Explorer Straight Bourbon, Finished with French and Appalachian Oak Staves (103 proof): The inaugural release in the Explorer series from Eric Church's Gypsy brand. A blend of two six-year-old bourbons — a low-rye Kentucky distillate (sweetness-forward) and a high-rye Indiana distillate (spice-forward) — yielding a combined mash bill of 66% corn, 30% rye, and 4% malted barley, reduced to 103 proof and then finished with staves sourced from the forests of Tronçais, France, and the Appalachian Mountains. MSRP $69.99. The nose is standout: rich, layered, and inviting. The palate softens dramatically into buttery Danish butter cookie territory, with dried apricots, honey, pistachios, and a baklava-like sweetness. Vanilla from the French oak weaves throughout. Approachable enough for any drinker, complex enough to contemplate neat. *(00:10:03)* - Pursuit x Meat Church Honey Hog Barrel Bourbon (105 proof): A limited-edition collaboration between Pursuit Spirits and Matt Pittman's Meat Church BBQ, designed as a tabletop companion to smoked meats. The blend combines Kentucky (78% corn, 10% rye, 12% malted barley) and Tennessee (80% corn, 10% rye, 10% malted barley) straight bourbons. Finishing involved coating barrels with over 55 gallons of Texas wildflower honey sourced from Burleson's Honey in Waxahachie, Texas. 105 proof, MSRP $79.99 for a 700 ml bottle, primarily available through the Pursuit P Club and the Pursuit Louisville location. The nose is sweet, floral, and unmistakably wildflower honey. The palate follows suit with a large honey presence alongside classic bourbon caramel — forward and sweet. A natural companion for the grill or as a warm-weather sipper. *(00:23:50)* - Short Barrel Sapsquatch Straight Bourbon, Finished in Maple Syrup Barrels (110 proof): Short Barrel's maple-forward annual release begins with a blend of Kentucky (70% corn, 21% rye, 9% malted barley, aged 6–8 years) and Indiana (75% corn, 21% rye, 4% malted barley, aged 6–8 years) bourbons. Unusually, the whiskey first conditions in stainless steel with sugar maple fusion spirals for six to eight weeks, building a foundation of maple depth and caramelized sugar before ever entering a finishing barrel. It then moves into Kelvin Cooperage toasted barrels that previously held maple syrup sourced from Vermont and Ohio. 110 proof, MSRP $89.99. The nose is dark and maple-rich but measured — not syrup-bomb territory. On the palate: whole-grain pancakes, warm butter, caramelized sugar, and toasted marshmallow, with the maple remaining present but disciplined. Notably, the finish pivots away from sweetness toward toasted oak, giving the whiskey structure and length. *(00:36:01)* Whether you're a fan of rum-influenced blends, buttery French oak, honey-laced barbecue whiskeys, or maple-driven dessert drams, this episode has something to satisfy every sweet tooth on the tasting mat. Jim and Todd also remind listeners about the upcoming Sample Soirée on August 22nd at the Corner Rick House in Frankfort, Kentucky — home of the Frankfort Bourbon Society — where all those accumulated sample bottles finally get cracked open for the roadies. Sign up at thebourbonroad.com to reserve your spot and grab your official Roadie membership card for the door.
Vanilla remains one of the most popular flavors in the baking industry, but this fruit has a much more complex history than many realize. Vanilla (https://bakerpedia.com/ingredients/vanilla/) is thought to have originated in Central and Northern America, more precisely Mexico. In the 16th century, it was introduced to Europe by Spanish conquerors. In this episode of BAKED in Science, host Mark Floerke is joined by Emmanuel Laroche (https://www.linkedin.com/in/emmanuellaroche/) to discuss all things vanilla. Laroche is VP of Marketing & Consumer Insights at Symrise (https://www.symrise.com), creator and host of the podcast “Flavors Unknown,” and author of Conversations Behind The Kitchen Door and A Taste of Madagascar: Culinary Riches of the Red Island. Savoring the Flavor Some topics covered include: The “bean” fallacy Vanilla goes global Bye-bye vanilla bee Intricacies of vanilla production Vanilla versus vanillin Functional properties of vanilla
The Am I Wrong? committee is here again sharing thoughts on America's love of vanilla ice cream and what is considered bad behavior at the beach.

It's been hotter than heck in Paris, and we're in the midst of our third heatwave. One way our friends in Italy beat the heat (and get their coffee fix) is to make affogato, a dish of ice cream “drowned” in espresso, with liquor sometimes added, giving it an extra kick. I met Margot Lecarpentier when writing my book, Drinking French. Margot is the owner and head bartender of Combat, one of my favorite cocktail bars in Paris, and she stopped by to make a spirited affogato for me, under the shade of our fig tree.Affogato is often made with vanilla ice cream but Margot asked me to make a batch of chocolate sorbet, which was perfect with the mix of liquors she stirred up.Subscribe to my newsletter to get recipes, videos, posts, and more, sent right to your Inbox! The amaro Margot chose, Rabarbaro Nardini, which is made from rhubarb and has a husky flavor that works beautifully with the other ingredients. There are a lot of amaros/amari out there, and ones such as Fernet-Branca, Braulio, and Dell'Etna, have their own distinctive vegetal notes. You could use one of those, or whatever is available. You can certainly change the other ingredients to your liking as well, such as swapping in amaretto for the coffee liqueur, or whiskey for the rum, although as I noted in the video, her recipe — as she made it — was truly the best affogato I've ever had.[btw: In the video, you'll notice some steam drifting across the table. That's water for heating the ice cream scoop

Flipping that fragrant theme on its head, this time we're all about those solar, ‘holiday in a bottle' type perfumes, and find ourselves particularly drawn to those with a vintage vibe.Later in the episode, Nicola answers a listener question from someone who had fallen head over heels for spicy tonka / vanilla fragrances way out of her budget, and seeks affordable scents to satiate this new obsession…We discuss;Nuxe Prodigieux Le ParfumThis first launched in 2012, and was created by Serge Majoullier (who also created Mugler Womanity Eau Pour Elle and Viktor&Rolf Bonbon).Top notes are Orange Blossom, Mandarin Orange, Orange and Bergamot; middle notes are Gardenia, Magnolia and Rose; base notes are Coconut Milk, Vanilla and Pebbles.DIOR La Collection Privé Eden-RocWe rather suspect that Dior's resident perfumer, François Demachy, enjoyed even more than usual his ‘research' for this fragrance, a hymn to one of the world's most legendary hotels, on the rocky shore of the Côte d'Azur. Flooded with sunlight, it's cooled and ruffled by a salty breeze, revealing an accord reminiscent of nothing so much as expensive suntan oil, suffused with jasmine and a touch of coconut. Truly the stuff of holiday dreams.Juliette Has a Gun Sunny Side UpOhhh allow yourself to dream of a scented destination somewhere more far flung. Close your eyes and imagine an impossibly perfect beach: warm sand, warm skin, an omnipresent hush of crystal waters massaging brightly coloured pebbles and your own deep, contented breaths. Sunny Side Up is all blissfully relaxed limbs glowing with the retro-smelling scent of suntan oil, the softness of the blanket beneath you and a waft of vanilla ice-cream on the breeze as the sun dips its toes in the ocean. Bliss in fragrant form!Elie Saab Le Parfum Lumière‘Like an haute couture dress, Elie Saab fragrances adorn the feminine form, with a radiant sensuality. Elie Saab Le Parfum Lumière captures the sensual sparkle of light. The Dawn. Your own private summer.'Jennifer Elizabeth:Hi Nicola and Suzy, I find myself turning to your podcast and fragrance in general to comfort and sweeten my day during the cold winter in Melbourne. I am really enjoying my perfume journey and recently discovered a Libertine Parfumerie near me! I got a sample of Amouge, guidance and Tonka Kumaru Atelier Materi. I didn't think I would like the spicy saffron in Guidance but I have really warmed to it! And now expanding my tastes into spicy fragrances with a bit of heat. I absolutely love Tonka Kumaru it has become my favourite! Unfortunately both perfumes are way above my budget, and I was wondering if you have any recommendations for a similar fragrance with tonka, vanilla, almond and a spice. I find this fragrance very complex and addictive and its projection is amazing, so it would be may to find something under 100 pounds . I love this scent so much I'd also like to find a candle with similar almond and cardamon notes.I also like Vanilla Powder Matiere Premier.Ps I am so happy I can walk into Mecca or libertine and identity so many of the perfumes from your podcast! It brings me such joy!Nicola's suggestions:Essential Parfums Divine VanillaGranado Tonka Eau de ToiletteL'Occitane Almond CandleMama Moon Prosperity and Courage CandleScents Journey - Masala Chai CandleJsala - Apothecary Candle

Suns out, cardamom buns out! It's summertime here in the Northern Hemisphere and that can only mean one thing: the season of Build-Outs is upon us! Since the dawn of the internet, we've celebrated new cafes, cafe builds, remodels, refreshes, tear-downs, and glow-ups in a feature series we call The Build-Outs of Coffee. And each year we celebrate podcast style with the Sprudge Podcast Coffee Sprudgecast Coffee Buildcast. Before we get into it, we drink a banging bounty of beautiful brews with an emphasis on DECAF. "We always thought it was cool," says Michelman, "but it just gets tastier and tastier!" The Coffee Partners Coffee Edin Lopez Gesha This stunning gesha comes to us from Edin Geovany Lopez of Santa Bárbara, Honduras. Edin and his family grow coffee on a small but picturesque farm on the Santa Bárbara Mountain overlooking Lake Yojoa. They process and dry their coffee in the nearby community of El Cedral before delivering finished parchment to Beneficio San Vicente, whose incredible team supports them in dry milling, quality feedback, and more. This tiny lot was produced like a traditionally washed coffee, but sealed in barrels to reduce its exposure to ambient oxygen during the fermentation stage. The result is an incredibly clean, round, syrupy coffee full of ripe summer fruit - we're tasting melon, strawberry, blackberry, peach, lime, and jasmine with a hint of caramel in the finish. This is a truly exceptional cup that we're delighted to share. Presta Coffee Candy Blast Decaf This blend of Caturra and Colombia varieties begins with a 48-hour pre-fermentation in plastic bags under anaerobic conditions, allowing complex flavors to form. After depulping, the beans, still in mucilage, are co-fermented with yeast & watermelon flavors for five days which imparts a refreshing sweetness. The beans are then pre-dried on sun-exposed patios, followed by mechanical drying in static silos. A 30-day stabilization period helps the flavors fully develop, delivering a balanced and distinctive profile. Lavender Vanilla Latte In the Sprudge HQ we made a lovely lavender vanilla latte using small-batch Goldvine Syrups. "These days we've been more syrup curious than we used to be," admits Michelman. It's a good thing too, because syrup is delicious. With a rich, decaf espresso base using Verve Coffee Vancouver Blend and the lovely coconut milk from Pacific Barista Series. All coffees brewed in a Hario v60 with a Bookoo scale. Espresso coffee made with a La Marzocco Linea Mini. Check out gear here! The Builds On the first episode of the SPCSCB we set our sights on four cafes that are showing up and showing out in a big way. From Indonesia to Omaha, Nebraska, these cafes are blowing our minds in a big way. The 2026 Build-Outs of Coffee is presented by DONA, Pacific Barista Series, and La Marzocco. https://sprudge.com/build-outs-of-coffee-partners-coffee-in-brooklyn-ny-1041194.html https://sprudge.com/build-outs-of-coffee-hypnos-coffee-in-portland-or-1039272.html https://sprudge.com/build-outs-of-coffee-zen-coffee-company-in-omaha-ne-1005859.html https://sprudge.com/build-outs-of-coffee-kopikina-heulang-in-bogor-city-indonesia-1012658.html This episode of the Coffee Sprudgecast is sponsored by DONA, Pacific Barista Series, noissue, and La Marzocco.

In this episode the guys break down the three ways to program endurance and strength together — same workout, different days, or alternating weeks — covering the pros, cons and who each approach is actually best for. They also get into the viral heavy metals in protein powder scare (and why it's mostly prop 65 hysteria), the ugly new electric Ferrari that has all of Italy in mourning, GLP-1 concerns about motivation and libido (and why under-eating is the real culprit), Adam's son and Catrina's brutal norovirus battle, Justin taking his sons to the gym for the first time, and Sal's dad's legendary judo match. Then they answer questions submitted through Instagram — covering long cuts, goblet squats, the one peptide they'd each keep, and Adam and Justin's favorite sports moments. 17 years in, your husband's hidden kinks and porn habits are unraveling everything you thought you knew about him. Now what? Welcome to Feedback Friday! And in case you didn't already know it, Jordan Harbinger (@JordanHarbinger) and Gabriel Mizrahi (@GabeMizrahi) banter and take your comments and questions for Feedback Friday right here every week! Now let's dive in!Full show notes and resources can be found here: jordanharbinger.com/1324On This Week's Feedback Friday:If you prefer the dooze cruise to tales from a food poisoning-riddled Disney cruise, skip ahead to around 20 minutes and 20 seconds! You've been with your husband for 17 years, married 13, three kids — and over the past year, the picture you had of him has been quietly unraveling. The "vanilla" guy you married has been hiding kinks, porn habits, and contradictions that don't match what he says he wants. Now you're wondering where private ends and dishonest begins. You've always been great at interviews, but since having kids, you've been the runner-up four times. Hiring managers keep telling you it was out of your control, that someone else just had a specific edge. You're the common denominator, though, and you know there's something you can sharpen. Where's the move from almost to absolutely? You've always wondered how Jordan rattles off "that was episode 1192" mid-flow — is it prep, memory, or magic? And how much of his real-time outrage at a letter is genuine vs. performed? You've been curious about the sausage-making of Feedback Friday for a while, and today you're finally getting your answer.Recommendation of the Week: Jordan recommends Paint-Your-Own Pottery Studios as a fun family or friend-group activity. You're a fairly new listener who's never struggled with depression — but most of your community-theater friends have, and when they open up, you freeze. "I'm so sorry, do you want to talk about it?" feels emptier each time. You want them to feel seen, but you don't share their experience.
