Revolution Rest explores the power and necessity of rest in a culture that views rest as passive, unproductive, and lazy. Revolution Rest challenges that cultural view, and instead, honors rest as inextricable from play and activity; as a key component to healing and self-actualization; and as a portal to a life that is rich, abundant and beautifully human. Join me, Caitlin Dafni, as we explore the myriad ways that we can rejuvenate our bodies, minds, and souls through rest.

It's been over 3 months since the last episode of Rev Rest. So what the heck have I been up to? Spoiler Alert: I'm pregnant! But that's only part of the story... In today's episode, I talk about how I practiced deep rest this summer while navigating a sea of intensity. How at times, I forgot to rest and pushed too hard, and what I learned in the process. Also, what NOT producing the podcast brought up for me - from the guilt to learning to gratitude - and how this relates to the natural seasonality of creativity and output. Plus, with baby on the way this November, a look at what's to come for Rev Rest. She had put together all the ingredients of a "happy life" - a beautiful family, home and career. Standing in the middle of it all, Mary realized how sad she actually felt. The discovery and practice of a powerful tool helped infuse her life with more intention and meaning. Then, just as her last kiddo was leaving the nest and Mary was rekindling her marriage, tragedy struck. In this first episode, Caitlin explains why resting is one of the most seditious things we can do in this culture, and how that is especially true for women. Plus, some fun facts about lions!*Please note that when Caitlin talks about "culture" in this episode, she is referring to the mainstream, capitalist culture of the United States. Inherent in many cultures around the world are healthy rhythms for rest and play, work and leisure. Those natural rhythms have largely been neglected and pushed aside in the U.S. in favor of fueling the economic powers that be.  Resources mentioned:Kirstin Hotelling Zona - kirstinhotellingzona.comCassandra Speaks: When Women are the Storytellers, the Human Story Changes by Elizabeth Lesser - www.elizabethlesser.org  "Rest for Success" on The Gathering Pod by Martha Beck  https://marthabeck.com/gathering-pod/rest-for-success/Why We Sleep: Unlocking the Power of Sleep and Dreams by Matthew Walker https://www.indiebound.org/book/9781501144318Covid-19's Disproportionate Impact on Women - National Women's Law Center: https://nwlc.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Final_NWLC_Press_CovidStats.pdf Covid-19's Disproportionate Impact on Women in regards to childcare - Pew Research: https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2021/01/26/a-rising-share-of-working-parents-in-the-u-s-say-its-been-difficult-to-handle-child-care-during-the-pandemic/Lion Sleeping Habits - Sibuya Game Reserve: https://www.sibuya.co.za/2017/01/20/lion-sleeping-habits/To Book a Discovery Call with Caitlin - revolutionrest.org
