On this week's episode of Cosmic Cousins, Jeff Hinshaw is joined by the radiant co-hosts of The Universe Called podcast — Courtney Sauls and Natalie Burtney. Together, we drop into the deep waters of the Scorpio New Moon, exploring its themes of emotional alchemy, intuition, and rebirth — especially poignant as this is the first Scorpio New Moon since Pluto's definitive arrival into Aquarius. In our conversations we explore the intersection of astrology, identity, yoga, creativity, and collective change. Courtney shares about her work in I Am an American via Los Angeles and how acting, embodiment, and shadow work weave through her Scorpio Rising experience. Natalie opens up about her Scorpio Moon and its connection to artistic cycles, trauma-informed yoga, and we listen to a song from her music project with her partner Smoke Red Sun. Together we explore Pluto in Aquarius, the shifting landscape of creative industries, and how breakdown often precedes innovation. We close with Scorpio New Moon practices, from somatic rituals to intentional releasing, along with reflections on yoga, nature, and how to honor transformation in both quiet and cathartic ways. It's a rich, soulful conversation that I'm so excited to share with you. __________________________________________________ The Brooklyn Fools Tarot Journey 6-Month Ritual Immersion through the Major Arcana The next evolution of the Brooklyn Fools Tarot Journey — a six-month ritual immersion into the living wisdom of the Major Arcana — has arrived! For years, this pilgrimage has unfolded as an intimate passage through the 22 archetypes, guiding seekers into embodied relationship with the tarot's deepest teachings. This year marks a powerful turning point: for the first time ever, participants are invited to step not only into the role of seeker, but also into the role of facilitator and practitioner. This expansion represents a widening of our circle, a passing of the flame, and an opportunity to carry this sacred storytelling lineage into your own communities. Whether you've walked the Fool's path before or you're stepping into it for the very first time, you are warmly invited to apprentice yourself to mystery in a whole new way. I'm honored to be joined by two extraordinary guest co-facilitators — Lindsay Mack of Tarot for the Wild Soul and Mary Evans of Spirit Speak Tarot — who will support and enrich this year's journey with their unique perspectives and magic. The journey begins in January of 2026! Cosmic Cousins Links Cosmic Cousins Memberships Intro & Outro Music by: Felix III Mentorship Deep Dive Astrology Readings Tarot Soul Journey
In this episode, Chris sits down with David Altamura, founder of Wild Soul Wellness, to unpack a journey from adversity to opportunity. From personal training and swim coaching in Melbourne to launching wellness spaces in Byron Bay, David eventually returned home to lead a fast-growing franchise network. Along the way, he nearly lost it all in a $60,000 construction disaster, a messy legal battle, and the gut punch of starting over with his young family. Chris and David dig into the lessons that helped him bounce back, scale up, and now guide franchisees through the growing pains with real-world tools like hands-on lease support and a community-first business model. If you're building something, starting over, or just need a hit of entrepreneurial honesty, this episode will leave you inspired and ready to keep going. In this podcast episode, Dr. Jonathan H. Westover talks with Lori Wallace about job change as the modern day hero's journey. Lori Wallace is the Founder and CEO of Career Ecology – a hub spot for Work-Life Empowerment. She's mentored job seekers for over twenty years as the owner of her own search agency where she matched prominent hospital systems like Cedars Sinai, Kaiser Permanente, and Sutter Health to skilled and passionate professionals ranging from CEO to Lab Assistant. But, Lori brings much more than meets the eye. She calls herself a “Work-Life Doula”. Out of the angst of 2016, Lori founded Career Ecology in order to, as she puts it, “help every human shed the old, awaken the imaginal, and fly free.” Lori has a degree in Psychology from UCLA and certifications from the Nurtured Heart Institute and with Mary Reynold's Thompson's Wild Soul facilitation. She brings a “practical + poetic” approach to work-life across all critical touch points, including job search, resume, interviewing, as well as the touch point to self. Lori views the realm of “work” as the ideal entry point for radical initiation and healing in the world. It's the modern-day “hero's journey.” Check out all of the podcasts in the HCI Podcast Network!

This "Rare New Moon" in Gemini is literally bringing winds of change in every direction. Every lunar cycle presents us with a Soul and life theme. I think we have to take a look over the expanse of the previous three to four years, to recognize what is needed in the present moment. The planet Jupiter stepped into the sign of Gemini on the 25th of May, and will be traveling with us until May 2025. As you listen to this episode, I'm inviting you to come on a journey over the course of year as we visit various topic destinations. The first topic that I want to visit and spend time with is getting into the meaning and power of sound energy in our lives. This topic is a live wire these days. In many ways, we are familiar with music and how we make associations about people, places, events and activities that relate to the music happening at a particular time. Many movies and films have powerful emotional appeal through music scores. With our Jupiter Visioning Journey, I want to delve more into how our states of consciousness, and even how we can be physically, emotionally, psychologically, and spiritually changed by the power of sound. As you listen to this episode, I'm giving you a brief description of what I have in mind as we journey. Very frankly, I don't have all the answers because this is a project that is informing me where we are traveling. Since this is a New Moon in Gemini, I asked myself what would seed sounds, sound like? Since I have just received a mini steel tongue drum, I am playing a little bit on it. Also I played with African instrument the Kalimba (birds were singing). I've created a bit of ambient ocean sound with my ocean drum. You'll notice I played with three instruments, this is the"Gemini Effect".There's lots happening these days with more people doing community drumming in circles, relaxing and resting with sound baths, using tuning forks for realignment of emotional, mind/body, soul, creative expression, and in general, inviting self awareness and wholeness in their lives. The following link will take you to the New Moon Seeds of Change Sounds(Musings)https://www.soulsoundinsights.com/music-musings-meditation.htmlI look forward to traveling the "Jupiter Visioning Journey, together. Do you feel like you have lost yourself, or are just lost in general? Mary Reynolds Thompson introduces us to the five archetypes of the Wild Soul Woman's psyche—the untamed, unashamed, and unstoppable aspects of inner feminine power that many women, and men, have forgotten or disconnected from. We explore Spiritual Ecology and the intersection of Women's Liberation and Earth's Restoration. We'll see how ancient Earth wisdom can help us to heal from cultural wounds and find a different source of strength, how these Earth archetypes are part of larger rewilding of the psyche that is being called forth at this time.
Tawny and Lisa talk about being discerning with what we add to our plates and what we say “no” to. Our tendency to be “people pleasers” means we end up saying yes to things we don't want or need to do to avoid disappointing others. But oftentimes, that concern can be misplaced or exaggerated. We can also tweak the way we accept invitations if they would otherwise take too much out of us (hint, hint: boundaries!). The bottom line is that managing our energy budgets is a priority for our mental health. How can connecting with nature's archetypes unleash your tethered soul? Mary Reynolds Thompson shares how aligning with Earth archetypes like the desert, forest, ocean, river, mountain, and grassland can help awaken our wild soul woman within. These archetypes provide powerful metaphors and images that can help us heal the wounds of being overly domesticated and silenced. Connecting with these archetypes in nature can help restore our sense of belonging, meaning, and deep creativity. Tune in as Mary shares her 5 Earth Archetypes and her new book, A Wild Soul Woman: 5 Earth Archetypes to Unleash Your Full Feminine Power, a how-to for women to explore their inner “wild soul” with the larger purpose of shaping the next wave of feminism. In this episode, I am joined by the School of Sacred Embodiment's community manager, and 1/2 of our two person Dream Team, the loving and incredibly tender-hearted Marjolaine Millette. We discuss Marjolaine's transformation following the Wild Soul Liberation framework, and how calling off a wedding, plus navigating emotions around grief and death, allowed her to honor all parts of herself and connect with the divine in a deeper, more intentional way. In this episode, we are being invited through the Super New Moon in Aquarius to follow our visions, dreams, wishes and intentions. Energetically this Lunar cycle, with Aquarius as our life and soul guide sign, offers an opportunity to truly step up, and stand in the center of your own life. Actually this Aquarius Moon is setting the tone for 2023. There are also a number of other clues that we have from the celestial realm. Some Key Astrological PointsUranus the guide and ruler of Aquarius is going direct on January 22nd. This is the planet that will help us claim our inner understanding of freedom and truth.Pluto the planet transformation, power and deep truth is giving a preview of how to get rid of what no longer fits our lives. Letting go of the "emotional baggage", and be willing to step into our real potential.Jupiter in Aries and Mar in Gemini are emphasizing accepting the willingness to pioneer a new life for yourself.Saturn is still in Aquarius until March. It is encouraging you to accept sovereignty in the important areas of your life. Time to leave the dependency on external influences. These are just a few considerations. The main thing at this time is to listen deeply and often, to your own intuitive awareness. Follow those intuitive and creative nudges, because this Moon/lunar cycle is providing us with some powerful energy that is surrounding us on every side.As I was, and have listened to this episode, I am feeling the urgency of the message that is coming through my words. Intuitively, I am feeling the inner awareness, and I'm realizing how important it is to use the energy of this New Moon cycle. The biggest takeaway in this episode, it about stepping to the "greatness" within yourself. I can hear you as you read the words, "greatness within". You're saying, "all those astrologers, reiki teachers, sound healers, etc. are always parroting this kind of stuff". Well, "Your Sacred Wild Soul"listener, your "Greatness" is the truth of you. It's the truth of each of us. The reason we are uncomfortable, and won't let ourselves accept this powerful truth, is because we are waiting for someone else.... the expert or authority to give us "Permission" to be Great.Aquarius is the visionary, innovator, genius, radical , maverick, the seer of cosmic insights. You will need to give yourself "Permission" to make a major change in 2023.Super New Moon in Aquarius "Afformation"; word coined by writer/visionary Noah St.John. An afformation is a positive question which sets up a dialogue between you and own subconscious mind."How do I step into my "Greatness" in every area of my life where I need to bring forward major change?""Where do I need to take "radical action" in my life?"Remember to trust in Yourself, and that the Universe says Yes!Learn how you can to use the wisdom of Astrology. Every now and then you come across a writer whose words and ideas just hit you bone-deep.For me, most of them have been people whose words make me feel more intimately connected with the world around me: Mary Oliver, Robin Wall-Kimmerer, Richard Powers, Bill Plotkin— and most recently, Mary Reynolds Thompson. When I started digging into Mary's work in preparation for this conversation, I felt that rare but familiar deep resonance. In her latest book, A Wild Soul Woman, she explores five landscape-based archetypes she's written about previously, this time specifically in the context of how they show up in womens' lives. In this episode, we explore about everything from burnout and addiction recovery to defining what it means to move through the arc of the human experience in your own “shero's journey.” About Mary Reynolds Thompson (she/her)Mary is an award-winning author, internationally recognized speaker, and a facilitator of poetry therapy. A pioneer in the spiritual ecology movement, her focus is on the transformative power of landscape archetypes and nature metaphors to reveal our true purpose and right relationship with the planet.Author of A Wild Soul Woman and Reclaiming the Wild Soul, a 2015 Nautilus Award-winner, Mary's writings have also appeared in numerous other publications and anthologies. Whether a symbol of completion, an indication of stuckness, or a signal for revised action, all card reversals bring medicine. When we greet a reversed Queen card, it can be a deep, impassioned plea from our very soul to pay attention, and come home to some aspect of ourselves that has been requesting our presence. In Part One of this two part series on the Queens reversed, we will dive into Queen of Pentacles and Queen of Swords, exploring what they mean, and how we can work with them. We also -- of course -- dig into what they invite us into when they show up reversed, and how we can respectfully, compassionately heed that call. CW: mentions of parenthood, systemic racism, trauma, ancestral trauma, unpaid labor that is regularly asked of folks of color, shared labor in parenting/co-parenting, light mentions of diet culture, fatphobia, and intuitive eating. What happens when you take away all the distractions and walk away from the labels that you identify yourself with? For Tanja Hirsch, she accessed deeper layers of healing and realized what her true calling is: to see the light in people when they can't see it in themselves. On today's episode, we discuss embodied coaching, somatic healing, and finding safety in your own body. As a healing and embodiment coach, Tanja went through a huge ego death and initiation in both her career and personal life this year. She was called deeper into her own work in order to be a vessel for healing. Tanja describes how she tuned into the push and pull of masculine and feminine energy during her recent self-discovery journey. Part of that experience included really leaning into loneliness and other hard-to-feel emotions, and she shares some of the tools that supported her on that journey. She walks us through her process of working with her body to heal her pain and discover what was blocking her from abundance. Listen to the episode on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Pocket Casts, Radio Public, or on your favorite podcast platform. The pod is back, baby! We're launching into a three episode drop with a Monthly Medicine download for the month of September -- back by popular demand! The theme for September is Permission. The invitation of the cycle ahead offers us a golden opportunity to cultivate and reclaim the sovereign permission to reflect, to breathe, to get more comfortable, to clarify for ourselves what we want, and what we don't want. With our Anchors for the month, which are Three of Pentacles, Six of Cups, and Two of Cups, we will dive into the medicine for September, how to work with these invitations, a bit about Virgo and Libra seasons, and so much more! Three of Wands is our card for the month of April, inviting us into some powerful and beautiful work around honoring ourselves in the midst of a “bridge” season of our lives, or moments when we find ourselves between two worlds. This card can be uncomfortable at times, but what it invites us into is rich and extraordinary: to hold ourselves in the present moment, knowing we are on the verge of some great and wonderful change. In today's episode, we dive into the heart of Three of Wands, chat a little about Aries season, The Emperor, and the Spring Equinox, and I answer a listener's question about how to get more comfortable in Tower seasons. Note: I am saying a sweet and grateful goodbye to the podcast (for now) as I transition into my maternity leave, and into some new projects (along with parenthood) that have been calling out to me for a little while. I'm not sure when I will be back with more episodes, but I love you all and thank you for being here! In our journey around daring to get our hopes up, how can we begin to tend to the feelings of worry, anxiety and overwhelm that can often arise? Queen of Swords can be an extraordinarily helpful and bolstering Anchor Card for the kinds of invitations that Nine of Cups brings to us, inviting us to slice through our painful stories, get closer to the heart of our emotions, thoughts, and feelings, and invite us to tend ourselves in loving ways. In today's episode, we dive into the heart of Queen of Swords, and I answer a listener's question about navigating projections around our Tarot pulls.
