The Commentary Cast

It's the last epsiode of the season and a very special episode as we have host of the show Grant Sputore talking about his feature film debut I Am Mother, along with screenwriter Michael Lloyd Green and special guest interviewer Roseanne Liang.  In the wake of humanity's extinction I AM MOTHER tells the story of a teenage girl who is raised by a robot designed to repopulate the earth. But their unique bond is threatened when an inexplicable stranger arrives with alarming news. The film Stars Hilary Swank, Clara Rugaard and Rose Byrne and premiered at Sundance in 2019.  

In this week's episode we talk to director Alice Waddington about their film PARADISE HILLS - which premiered at Sundance  in 2019. PARADISE HILLS tells the story of Uma, a young woman who wakes up in an apparently idyllic reform school for young ladies. But a dark secret lies within its walls. In this week's episode of The Commentary Cast we talk to director Michael Matthews about his film LOVE AND MONSTERS. This week on the Commentary Cast we're joined by writer / director Mike Flanagan and writer / lead actor Kate Siegel to talk about their film HUSH.  Premiering in 2016 at South by Southwest the film tells the story of Maddie Young, a deaf writer who has retreated into the woods to live a solitary life. When a masked killer appears at her window she must fight for her life in silence.

This week's Commentary Cast features director Lee Cronin discussing his film The Hole In The Ground which premiered at Sundance in 2019. The Hole in the ground tells the story of Sarah whose young son disappears into the woods behind their rural home. When the boy returns, he looks the same, but his behavior grows increasingly disturbing and Sarah begins to believe that the boy who returned may not be her son at all.    

This week's guest on The Commentary Cast is writer extraordinaire Brian Duffield talking about his directorial debut - Spontaneous. When students in their high school inexplicably start to explode, seniors Mara and Dylan struggle to survive in a world where each moment may be their last. As an unexpected romance blossoms between them, they soon discover that when tomorrow is no longer promised, they can finally start living for today. Based on the book by Aaron Starmer, the film stars, Katherine Langford alongside Charlie Plummer.

Be ready with your best finishing move, as this week the Director of Mortal Kombat - Simon McQuoid  joins us on The Commentary Cast. Hunted by the warrior Sub-Zero, MMA fight Cole Young finds sanctuary at the temple of Lord Raiden.  Training with experienced fighters and a rogue mercenary, Cole prepares to stand with Earth's greatest champions to battle enemies from Outworld. The film stars Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion, Joe Taslim as Sub Zero and Lewis Tan as our protagonist Cole Young.

Director Max Barbakow joins us on The Commentary Cast this week to talk about his film Palm Springs. Starring Andy Samberg, Cristin Milioti, and J.K. Simmons, Palm Springs gets us stuck in a time loop where two wedding guests develop a budding romance while living the same day over and over again.

Our guest on The Commentary Cast this week is director Gareth Evans who joins us to discuss his feature film Apostle. Starring Dan Stevens and Michael Sheen, Apostle takes us to a remote Welsh island in 1905 where a drifter sets out to rescue his kidnapped sister and tangles with a sinister religious cult.

BAFTA award winning Director Remi Weekes joined us on The Commentary Cast ahead of the release of his debut film HIS HOUSE - released October 30th 2020 - Starring Sope Dirisu and Wunmi Mosaku and featuring Matt Smith the film is tells the story of a refugee couple who make a harrowing escape from war-torn South Sudan, but they then struggle to adjust to their new life in an English town that has an evil lurking beneath the surface.

Academy Award winning director Aaron Schneider joins the Commentary Cast this week to discuss his film - Greyhound. Written by and starring Tom Hanks it tells the story of a first time Navy Commander who is assigned to lead a WWII Allied convoy where he finds himself relentlessly pursued by German U-boats as part of the most complex naval battle in history: The Battle of the Atlantic.

Director Christopher Landon joins us on The Commentary Cast this week to chat about his film - Happy Death Day. Jessica Rothe and Israel Broussard star in the first installment of the now multiple film franchise where a college student keeps reliving the day of her murder over and over until she can discover her killers identity.

In this weeks Episode Roseanne Liang joins The Commentary Cast to discuss her film - Shadow In The Cloud. Starring Chloe Grace Moretz,  its an action packed ride set aboard a B-17 flying fortress where a WWII female pilot travelling with secret documetns encounters an evil presence on board.
