Their 3 previous studio collections take listeners on a journey through stories of loss, grief and heartbreak. While welcoming them into the hope that comes on the other side.  The band has performed their songs for world-wide audiences with 2 appearances on both Late Night with Seth Meyers and Conan. As well as the Today Show, VH1's Morning Buzz and MTV Live. The Cannonballers is an app addition to the band's catalog. Staying true to what Colony House does best and expanding on what their fans have gravitated to for the past decade. Hope and light in the midst of it all. Dr. Berg’s Healthy Keto and Intermittent Fasting Podcast

ChatGPT recommends the Mediterranean diet as best for overall health. It groups red meat, sugar, and processed foods together as foods to avoid and recommends plant-based diets as superior. ChatGPT recommends avoiding keto and carnivore diets on a long-term basis. ChatGPT health advice comes from organizations such as the American Heart Association and the American Diabetes Association, which are heavily funded by certain industries and inherently biased. To lower cholesterol, ChatGPT claims you should lower dietary cholesterol, increase unsaturated fats, and replace animal proteins with plant proteins. Plants do not have complete protein, and if you reduce your dietary cholesterol, you could end up low in bile and vitamin D. Cholesterol is a vital component of your cell membranes, hormones, and brain.ChatGPT falsely claims that seed oils are not “that bad” when used in moderation. Balance and moderation allow you to continue eating bad food without worrying about the consequences. If you have a chronic disease, you can not simply “balance” your diet. If you have diabetes, you do not want to spike insulin with carbohydrates. ChatGPT recommends legumes and grains for people with diabetes and small, frequent meals. This advice would continue to spike insulin, and would not help reverse diabetes! When asked about diet and nutrition for people with chronic diseases, ChatGPT ignores powerful ways to drastically improve one's health, such as increasing vitamin D and fasting. It continues to recommend moderation for ultra-processed foods, claiming that it is safe and healthy for 20% of your daily calories to be ultra-processed.Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio:Dr. Berg, age 60, is a chiropractor who specializes in Healthy Ketosis & Intermittent Fasting. He is the author of the best-selling book The Healthy Keto Plan, and is the Director of Dr. Berg Nutritionals. He no longer practices, but focuses on health education through social media.

While the Congressional Budget Office says as many as twelve million people could lose health insurance due to Medicaid cuts in the President's "big, beautiful bill," the Trump administration defends work requirements and cuts for cost savings. Their goal is to reform the system, removing non-disabled recipients from Medicaid. Despite Democrats' concerns, these cuts won't take effect until the end of next year. Director of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, Dr. Mehmet Oz joins the Rundown to explain the need to address waste, fraud, and abuse in Medicaid to ensure those who need it most receive health care. Last week, the largest illegal immigration raid of President Donald Trump's second term occurred, resulting in the detention of over 360 individuals at two marijuana farms in California. Among those detained were several convicted felons and 14 children. What do you do when your joints hurt? Do you think this is only temporary because I did too much of something? What can you do when joints hurt, or at least ache? Are you thinking or told about knee replacement? If this is you, this is your episode!   My Guest:  Dr. Joshua Schacter, DO, FAAOS, America's Holistic Orthopedic Surgeon, is redefining joint care with a commitment to providing actual solutions for his patients. Spending a decade as the Chief of Orthopedic Surgery and Director of the Advanced Orthopedic Center of Excellence, he saw the need for non-invasive, innovative solutions that address the root causes of pain and dysfunction rather than masking symptoms. When his wife was diagnosed with the “breast cancer gene”, the Schacter's became obsessed with wellness, health and how to accomplish true healing. Dr. Schacter dreamed of a more effective and patient-centered approach, the Pinnacle Method.   Questions We Answer in This Episode: [00:05:25] How did your personal experience cause you to shift your focus from traditional orthopedic care to a more holistic and integrative approach?  [00:21:18] What is orthobiologics?  [00:20:20] How does The Pinnacle Method address not just the symptoms but the root causes of joint pain? How does the Pinnacle Method help patients achieve long-term wellness? [00:21:30] How do the treatments you offer support the natural healing process? [00:37:00] Can you define PRP? The efficacy and timeline, cost and success rate?  [00:37:35] What do you find to be true today on surgery and non-surgical treatments? What evidence or success stories would you share to illustrate the effectiveness of the Pinnacle Method? [00:39:30] Your approach is optimizing overall health and longevity. How do you incorporate wellness and prevention into your care for patients?   Know What You Can Do When Joints Hurt   What is orthobiologics? Use of the body's own healing capacity. Includes PRP (platelet-rich plasma), stem cells from fat or bone marrow, cord blood.   What is PRP? Platelet-rich plasma: Draw blood → concentrate platelets → inject into affected joint Cost: $2,000–$6,000 per dose   What is The Pinnacle Method? Combines PRP, functional medicine, and BHRT Addresses the whole patient, not just symptoms   Key Takeaways Orthobiologics like PRP and stem cells are effective alternatives to surgery, especially when used early. Steroid injections can accelerate joint degeneration and should be used cautiously. The Pinnacle Method is a patient-centered approach combining regenerative orthopedics, functional medicine, and hormone therapy. Menopause-related hormonal changes significantly affect joint health, making hormone balance crucial. Dr. Mark Jacobson is a professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Director of the Atmosphere Energy Program at Stanford University, where he's been one of the most vocal advocates for powering the world entirely with wind, water, and solar energy. No nuclear, no carbon capture, no fossil fuels of any kind. His research team has created 100% renewable energy roadmaps for all 50 U.S. states and 149 countries, helping shape policies like New York's clean energy mandate. In this episode, Dr. Jacobson shares his perspective on where we are in the renewables adoption curve and explains why he believes that technologies like nuclear power, carbon capture, and biofuels aren't just unnecessary, they're harmful distractions from the clean energy transition he sees as both achievable and urgent. This conversation may be polarizing. While many will agree with Mark's take on renewables and the grid, his firm rejection of other low-carbon tech challenges mainstream climate thinking. [This is one of the finalists in the 2025 review contest, written by an ACX reader who will remain anonymous until after voting is done. I'll be posting about one of these a week for several months. When you've read them all, I'll ask you to vote for a favorite, so remember which ones you liked] “The scientific paper is a ‘fraud' that creates “a totally misleading narrative of the processes of thought that go into the making of scientific discoveries.” This critique comes not from a conspiracist on the margins of science, but from Nobel laureate Sir Peter Medawar. A brilliant experimentalist whose work on immune tolerance laid the foundation for modern organ transplantation, Sir Peter understood both the power and the limitations of scientific communication. Consider the familiar structure of a scientific paper: Introduction (background and hypothesis), Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion. This format implies that the work followed a clean, sequential progression: scientists identified a gap in knowledge, formulated a causal explanation, designed definitive experiments to fill the gap, evaluated compelling results, and most of the time, confirmed their hypothesis. Real lab work rarely follows such a clear path. Biological research is filled with what Medawar describes lovingly as “messing about”: false starts, starting in the middle, unexpected results, reformulated hypotheses, and intriguing accidental findings. The published paper ignores the mess in favour of the illusion of structure and discipline. It offers an ideal version of what might have happened rather than a confession of what did. The polish serves a purpose. It makes complex work accessible (at least if you work in the same or a similar field!). It allows researchers to build upon new findings. But the contrived omissions can also play upon even the most well-regarded scientist's susceptibility to the seduction of story. As Christophe Bernard, Director of Research at the Institute of Systems Neuroscience (Marseilles, Fr.) recently explained, “when we are reading a paper, we tend to follow the reasoning and logic of the authors, and if the argumentation is nicely laid out, it is difficult to pause, take a step back, and try to get an overall picture.” Our minds travel the narrative path laid out for us, making it harder to spot potential flaws in logic or alternative interpretations of the data, and making conclusions feel far more definitive than they often are. Medawar's framing is my compass when I do deep dives into major discoveries in translational neuroscience. I approach papers with a dual vision. First, what is actually presented? But second, and often more importantly, what is not shown? How was the work likely done in reality? What alternatives were tried but not reported? What assumptions guided the experimental design? What other interpretations might fit the data if the results are not as convincing or cohesive as argued? And what are the consequences for scientific progress? In the case of Alzheimer's research, they appear to be stark: thirty years of prioritizing an incomplete model of the disease's causes; billions of corporate, government, and foundation dollars spent pursuing a narrow path to drug development; the relative exclusion of alternative hypotheses from funding opportunities and attention; and little progress toward disease-modifying treatments or a cure. https://www.astralcodexten.com/p/your-review-of-mice-mechanisms-and

“For complex PTSD, you have to establish a relationship. And only after trust has been established can you do the trauma-focused work.” This week, Thomas sits down with Dr. Judith Lewis Herman, an author and senior lecturer in psychiatry and Harvard Medical School, to explore her groundbreaking work on the psychology and social and cultural aspects of Complex PTSD, or CPTSD. Unlike the better-known diagnosis of PTSD, CPTSD arises from prolonged, repeated trauma that erodes one's sense of self and ability to trust. So, how should we approach healing and therapy for this uniquely challenging diagnosis? Dr. Herman believes there is hope, and it comes from the healing power of relationships…a tough pill to swallow for those whose trauma arose from abusive or coercively controlling relationships. But therein lies the key to healing—a therapeutic bond where the patient's experience is validated, their safety is paramount, and trust is carefully built up through mutuality. But it's not just therapy where healing can occur. Thomas and Dr. Herman discuss the importance of acknowledgment for people who've experienced ongoing trauma and how lifting shame from victims and survivors and transferring it to the perpetrators is an essential shift with powerful healing potential. They also explore social movements, like the women's and civil rights movements, that can lead to helpful reforms and the development of new support systems for trauma survivors.   ✨ Click here to watch the video version of this episode on YouTube:

The Uninsurable Future: How Climate-Driven Insurance Risk is Reshaping Real Estate   The Canary in the CRE Coal Mine If insurance is the canary in the coal mine for climate risk, then the bird has stopped singing. That's the warning from Dave Jones, former California Insurance Commissioner and current Director of the Climate Risk Initiative at UC Berkeley. In a conversation that touches on reinsurance markets, mortgage delinquencies, lender behavior, and regulatory dysfunction, Jones laid out the most sobering climate-related CRE risk analysis to date: we are already living through a systemic insurance crisis—and commercial real estate is not exempt.   “We are marching steadily towards an uninsurable areas in this country,” Jones warns.   From Homeowners to High-Rises: What the Data Shows Much of the early distress has been observed in the residential and small business markets, where data is more publicly available. A study by the Dallas Fed, cited by Jones, found a direct correlation between areas hardest hit by climate events and surging insurance premiums, non-renewals, and mortgage delinquencies.   But commercial real estate isn't insulated. While pricing data is less transparent due to looser filing requirements, Jones states, “everything that I've seen indicates that those [commercial] rates are going up too,” particularly in regions where catastrophic climate events are becoming more frequent and severe.   Take Florida. One of our clients' office tower's premiums jumped from $300,000 to $1.2 million in a single renewal cycle. That's straight off the bottom line. The hit is entirely non-accretive; it's pure cost.   The Feedback Loop: Insurance, Lending, and Liquidity As insurance availability shrinks and prices soar, lending dries up. Lenders want to see that there is property and casualty insurance yet, as it becomes harder to get, that has implications in credit markets… and flow-through implications to the real economy.   It's not just anecdotal. Jones references studies showing that banks are offloading loans insured by lower-rated, higher-risk insurers to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, effectively shifting the risk onto taxpayers. That means if a hurricane hits and the house is knocked down, there isn't insurance available, potentially because the insurance company went insolvent.   The trend is clear: insurance stress is bleeding into credit markets and weakening the foundations of the entire real estate financing stack.   The “Deregulation” Illusion Some states, like Florida, are trying to respond by loosening regulatory constraints to attract insurers. Jones is skeptical. “Florida rates are four times the national average,” he says. The state has adopted taxpayer-funded reinsurance schemes, weakened litigation protections, and allowed less-robust rating agencies to operate.   Still, “the national branded home insurers are not writing in Florida… they can't make a profit,” says Jones. “So even with all these changes, the background risk is too great.”   In short: deregulation cannot solve a fundamentally unprofitable underwriting environment driven by climate volatility.   Adaptation Isn't Being Priced In - Yet Jones is more optimistic about resilience measures. Home hardening, defensible space, and forest management, especially in wildfire-prone states like California, can materially reduce losses. Commercial insurers often have engineering staff to assess and recommend these strategies.   But the industry hasn't kept pace. “Insurers, by and large, are not accounting for property, community, and landscape-scale adaptation and resilience in their models,” Jones says. One exception is Colorado, which passed a law requiring insurers to factor in proven risk mitigation. This could prove to be a model for commercial markets, but it's early and insurers remain price takers in the face of mounting losses.   From Reinsurance to Municipal Bonds: Signals to Watch What market signals should CRE investors monitor? Jones suggests: Insurance pricing and non-renewals: leading indicators of distress. Reinsurance costs: though recently softening, they've trended upward for years. Lender behavior: especially offloading risky loans to agencies. Rating agency downgrades: particularly for municipalities facing severe climate risk. Housing market mispricing: First Street Foundation estimates as much as $1 trillion in residential overvaluation due to underpriced climate risk. Any of these could tip the balance in specific markets or signal a broader inflection point.   A Slow Collapse or a Sudden Shock? Is this a long-term crisis or a fast-moving one? “It's happening in real time now,” says Jones. “It's more likely that this will be a steady glide into uninsurability… as opposed to one catastrophic event that brings the whole house of cards down.”   Still, the metaphor is chilling. The systemic risks posed by climate-driven insurance failure are already manifesting across sectors. Whether the collapse is gradual or sudden, the endpoint is clear.   “There is no place in the United States where you have a ‘get out of climate change free' card,” Jones warns.   For CRE professionals, that means a hard reckoning is ahead – not just with climate, but with underwriting, capital access, and portfolio risk in a fundamentally altered landscape.   *** In this series, I cut through the noise to examine how shifting macroeconomic forces and rising geopolitical risk are reshaping real estate investing.   With insights from economists, academics, and seasoned professionals, this show helps investors respond to market uncertainty with clarity, discipline, and a focus on downside protection.    Subscribe to my free newsletter for timely updates, insights, and tools to help you navigate today's volatile real estate landscape. In this episode of the AdTech God Pod, Zach Lain, Director of Global Data Partnerships at PepsiCo, dives into the evolving intersection of data, creativity, and marketing outcomes. He shares his unique path from Chinese language and law studies to running global data strategy at one of the world's biggest brands. Zach discusses the importance of clean signal infrastructure, the cultural shift away from vanity metrics, and how clean rooms are reshaping collaboration. He also highlights AI's creative potential and the persistent challenge of ad fraud. Takeaways Zach explains how his childhood fascination with Chinese characters and structure led him to study law in China, eventually channeling that passion for structured meaning into a career in data and advertising. Zach shares how data doesn't just optimize media but fuels creativity. He references Cannes Lions and tools like Springboards that use “generative hallucinations” to inspire new creative directions—turning AI errors into a spark for innovation. He argues clean rooms are becoming the "cloud for media" and will soon be foundational to how brands collaborate, measure, and activate data. This includes work with platforms like Infosum and Habu. Zach highlights a major internal change at PepsiCo: moving from vanity metrics like CTRs to true business outcomes. This is altering how campaigns are briefed, partners are chosen, and success is defined. Zach warns that CTV ad fraud is growing faster than detection can keep up. He calls for industry-wide standards and collaboration, comparing the current state to a "game of whack-a-mole" that can only be solved collectively. Indonesia's judicial system has long been described as dysfunctional. Many of its problems developed out of decades of authoritarian rule, which began in the last few years of the reign of Indonesia's first president, Soekarno. By the time President Soeharto's regime fell in 1998, the judiciary had virtually collapsed. Judicial dependence on government, inefficiency and corruption were commonly seen as the main indicators of poor performance, resulting in very low levels of public trust in the courts. To address these problems, reformists focused on improving judicial independence. Yet while independence is a basic prerequisite for adequate judicial performance, much depends on how this independence is exercised. Judicial Dysfunction in Indonesia (Melbourne UP, 2023) demonstrates that Indonesian courts have tended to act without accountability and offers detailed analysis of highly controversial decisions by Indonesian courts, many of which have been of major political significance, both domestically and internationally. It sets out in concrete terms, for the first time, how bribes are negotiated and paid to judges and demonstrates that judges have issued poor decisions and engaged in corruption and other misconduct, largely without fear of retribution. Further, it explores unsafe convictions and public pressure as a threat to judicial independence. Judicial Dysfunction in Indonesia shines a sorely needed empirical light on the Indonesian judicial system, and is an essential resource for readers, scholars and students of Indonesian law and society. Over the past decade, electricity prices for consumers have risen by more than 22% on average. At the same time, the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC)—the international body responsible for setting reliability and security standards for the North American power grid—has issued increasingly urgent warnings about the growing risks to the U.S. electric power system's reliability. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), an independent agency established by Congress, plays a central role in this space. Under the Federal Power Act, FERC oversees the interstate transmission and wholesale sale of electricity and is responsible for reviewing, approving, and enforcing NERC’s reliability standards.Nearly 30 years ago, FERC fundamentally changed how it regulates the electric power industry. Did those changes contribute to the growing risks to the future reliability of the U.S. electric power system we now face? Or have they helped prevent even greater problems? Most importantly, what should federal electric regulation look like going forward?Join us for a dynamic and in-depth conversation with two seasoned experts as they explore these critical questions about the future of electricity regulation in the United States.Featuring:John Kennerly Davis, Jr., Senior Attorney, Former Deputy Attorney General of VirginiaAri Peskoe, Director, Electricity Law Initiative, Harvard Law School(Moderator) Robert T. Today, we'll discuss how to break bad breakfast habits with 9 healthy breakfast tips!1. Some people drink too much coffee in the morning, but that's not always the problem. Coffee beans are one of the most sprayed crops behind cotton and tobacco. Adding sugar and non-dairy creamer with seed oils worsens the problem. The simple solution is to always choose organic coffee.2. Most orange juice is pasteurized, which destroys the vitamin C. If you're drinking orange juice for breakfast, it's likely that you're just drinking sugar water. 3. Carb-heavy breakfast foods significantly spike blood sugar. Your body produces insulin to lower the spike, causing low blood sugar, leaving you feeling tired after breakfast. Switch to a protein breakfast! Opt for eggs, bacon, cheese, whole-fat yogurt without sugar, steak, or burger patties rather than the typical muffins, pancakes, cereals, etc. 4. Consuming fruit and nuts for breakfast will likely leave you feeling hungry midmorning. This leads to snacking, which raises blood glucose and spikes insulin throughout the day. 5. Peanut butter is often consumed for breakfast, but many contain sugar and hydrogenated oils. Always check the label!6. Avoid cooking with seed oils for breakfast. Opt for healthy cooking oils such as butter, olive oil, coconut oil, or lard. 7. Check the labels on your breakfast meats. There are many hidden sugars in breakfast foods, especially breakfast meats!8. I used to recommend drinking kale shakes with fruit for breakfast, but this is a mistake. A healthy breakfast should always contain high-quality protein. 9. Eating when you're not hungry is the #1 worst breakfast mistake! We're often taught that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but this isn't true. You're fasting while you sleep, so most people aren't hungry when they wake up. Try pushing your first meal to lunchtime to increase the duration of your fast. This can help you tap into fat-burning, boost weight loss, reverse insulin resistance, improve mood, and decrease appetite. Send me a messageIn this episode of the Sustainable Supply Chain podcast, I sat down with Dr Erik Garcell, Director of Quantum Enterprise Development at Classiq, to explore how quantum computing is moving from theoretical buzz to practical tool, and what that means for supply chains. We talked about why quantum's real strength lies in optimisation: solving incredibly complex problems like route planning, inventory management, or energy grid design far faster than classical systems ever could. Erik explained how quantum is already being used via cloud platforms (yes, even on AWS), and why enterprises, from BMW to Mitsubishi Chemicals, are experimenting with it now, not later. We got into real-world use cases too: dynamic logistics recalculations in response to disruptions, quantum-enhanced digital twins for EV battery design, and how this tech might support real-time, low-carbon decision-making across vast supplier networks. This isn't about replacing classical computing, it's about adding a powerful new tool to the box. Erik also gave practical advice for supply chain leaders: how to start engaging with quantum now, when upskilling your existing team makes more sense than hiring PhDs, and what pitfalls to avoid. If you're wondering when, or even if, quantum computing will matter to your business, this is the episode for you.

For decades, Democratic politicians have frustrated progressives by tinkering around the margins of policy while shying away from truly ambitious change. What happened to bold political vision on the left, and what shrunk the very horizons of possibility? In Thinking like an Economist, Elizabeth Popp Berman tells the story of how a distinctive way of thinking—an “economic style of reasoning”—became dominant in Washington between the 1960s and the 1980s and how it continues to dramatically narrow debates over public policy today. Introduced by liberal technocrats who hoped to improve government, this way of thinking was grounded in economics but also transformed law and policy. At its core was an economic understanding of efficiency, and its advocates often found themselves allied with Republicans and in conflict with liberal Democrats who argued for rights, equality, and limits on corporate power. By the Carter administration, economic reasoning had spread throughout government policy and laws affecting poverty, healthcare, antitrust, transportation, and the environment. Fearing waste and overspending, liberals reined in their ambitions for decades to come, even as Reagan and his Republican successors argued for economic efficiency only when it helped their own goals.A compelling account that illuminates what brought American politics to its current state, Thinking like an Economist also offers critical lessons for the future. With the political left resurgent today, Democrats seem poised to break with the past—but doing so will require abandoning the shibboleth of economic efficiency and successfully advocating new ways of thinking about policy. Elizabeth Popp Berman is Director and Richard H. Price Professor of Organizational Studies at the University of Michigan and the author of Creating the Market University: How Academic Science Became an Economic Engine (Princeton). Morteza Hajizadeh is a Ph.D. graduate in English from the University of Auckland in New Zealand.
