Hong Kong director Corey Yuen's tremendously enjoyable, Ninja in the Dragon's Den (1982) attempts to settle the perennial schoolyard debate of the 1980s: What's stronger, Ninjitsu or Kung Fu? Hiroyuki Sanada, a ninja on a quest for revenge, and Conan Lee, the kung fu master bent on stopping him, square off in this much loved martial arts classic that's chock-ful of enough booby traps, smoke bombs, fake dummies, impressive acrobatics and superb martial feats to satisfy even the most skillful disciples of the genre. It's a fight to the death! A bunch of them! We're here with a review of Mortal Kombat II, a sequel to the 2021 film. Both movies are of course based on the venerable video game from the '90s.
Mortal Kombat gets a second chance as the sequel to 2021's forgotten pandemic-era reboot attempts to right the wrongs of its predecessor. For one, thing, this Mortal Kombat actually has Mortal Kombat in it. We discuss the history of the franchise, the ills of the first film, and our split-down-the-middle opinion of the new sequel. Do we have another good video game adaptation in the books? Or is this one another one to chuck into the acid pits?
Terrific Australian actor Damon Herriman has done so much with more to come, enjoy our conversation on becoming Quan Chi in blockbuster Mortal Kombat 2 and touring the country in ART (the play). We also discuss a brief role in PRAISE (1998) sporting a mohawk. MORTAL KOMBAT 2 also starring Jessica McNamee, Karl Urban, Ana Thu Ngyuen, Josh Lawson, Hiroyuki Sanada, Tati Gabrielle, Adeline Rudolph, directed by Simon McQuoid. Warner Bros, a New Line Pictures film. https://youtube.com/@movieanalystshaneadambassett?si=nZyw5fHIS4t_KgXj

On this episode of Damn You Hollywood, Robert Winfree, Jason Teasley and Mark Radulich review Mortal Kombat II (2026), the long-awaited sequel to the 2021 reboot based on the legendary video game franchise created by Ed Boon and John Tobias. Directed by Simon McQuoid and written by Jeremy Slater, the film brings back Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Lewis Tan, Joe Taslim and Hiroyuki Sanada, while adding Karl Urban as fan-favorite Johnny Cage alongside Adeline Rudolph as Kitana, Martyn Ford as Shao Kahn and Tati Gabrielle as Jade. This time the actual Mortal Kombat tournament takes center stage as Raiden's Earthrealm warriors battle Outworld for the fate of humanity.
