Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universes.Reports are here to give us hope that a Scarlet Witch solo movie is in the works, though this is not confirmed by Marvel Studios or Kevin Feige. The news from Production Weekly comes on the heels of a Dublin radio interview given by Wanda Maximoff actress Elizabeth Olsen where she indicated her love for the character and her willingness to return to the role if “there's a way to use her well.”  Television's royalty was out on Sunday, September 15, when the 76th Emmys took place. Hosted by father/son comedy duo Eugene and Dan Levy, the award show mostly followed expectations with a surprise win from Jean Smart's show Hacks taking home Best Comedy Series and Best Actress in a Comedy Series for Smart herself. Otherwise, Shogun and The Bear cleaned up, with the former setting historic records including Anna Sawai and Hiroyuki Sanada becoming the first Japanese actors to EVER win Emmys. The Bear did well for itself as usual, with its 11 awards setting a new record for the most wins for a single season of comedy.  The final trailer for Venom: The Last Dance was released by Sony. The trailer showcases Eddie Brock and his symbiote sidekick facing down Venom's homeworld, with comics enemy Knull at the forefront as the antagonist. Venom: The Last Dance is the final movie in the trilogy, written by Kelly Marcel who is also taking a turn in the director's chair for this entry. Happy Gilmore stars, Christopher McDonald and Julie Bowen, have joined Adam Sandler to reprise their roles for Netflix's Happy Gilmore 2, which is now officially in production. Paramount has released the first trailer for the Dexter prequel, Dexter: Original Sin, and has set a premiere date of December 13 for the series. Netflix has released a new trailer for adult animated series Twilight of the Gods from Zack Snyder, which is based on Norse Mythology. The series debuts on the streamer on September 19. Last week, the first trailer was released for Gary Dauberman's upcoming Stephen King adaptation, Salem's Lot. The film will begin streaming on Max on October 3. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice stayed atop the box office this weekend, pulling in about $50 million dollars to bring its worldwide total earnings to $263.4 million dollars in its second weekend. Speak No Evil hit second place in its opening weekend, pulling in $20.8 million dollars globally on a $15 million dollar budget. Lionsgate's The Killer's Game starring Dave Bautista took in a disastrous $2.6 million dollars. Netflix has announced that Emily in Paris has been renewed for a fifth season. Deadline has revealed that Oscar-winning filmmaker James Cameron has purchased the rights to Charles Pellegrino‘s forthcoming book Ghosts of Hiroshima. Cameron has committed to use that, and the 2015 Pellegrino book Last Train From Hiroshima, as the basis for a film he will shoot in between Avatar productions. It will mark Cameron's first non-Avatar film since 1997's Oscar-winning Titanic. AppleTV+ has canceled Time Bandits, an adaptation of a 1981 feature film by Terry Gilliam, after a single season. The news comes less than four weeks after Time Bandits completed its 10-episode first season on August 21. The long rumored The Sims film adaptation has finally found a home and director. Amazon MGM Studios has announced that development has begun on a film adaptation of the long-running Electronic Arts gaming series. Kate Herron, known for directing the Disney+ series Loki, will helm the feature from a script that she is co-writing with Briony Redman. Margot Robbie's production company Lucky Chap will produce. John Cena has signed on to star in Matchbox, a live-action take on the classic Mattel car toyline. Apple will distribute the feature from Skydance and Mattel Films. Sam Hargrave, the director behind the Extraction movies will direct.

It was another big night for "Shogun" during the main event of the 76th annual Emmy Awards. The program set a single season record for most wins with 18, including best drama series and acting awards for Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai. "The Bear" also had a big night with four awards, but was snubbed for best comedy as "Hacks" took that honor. As co-host Bruce Miller mentioned, there has been discussion among insiders that "The Bear" should be a drama, not a comedy.  "Baby Reindeer" also wone four awards in the limited series category. Miller and co-host Terry Lipshetz share their thoughts, and also look ahead to the future: Can "Shogun" sustain success in a second season? Will "The Bear" become move to the drama category? Can a show like "Only Murders in the Building" finally break out in the comedy category? And, looking even further ahead, is the new limited series "American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez" an early favorite for an Emmy next year? The show debuted this week and looks at the troubled life of the NFL tight end. Contact us! We want to hear from you! The FX TV show Shogun which also aired on Hulu, is a historical drama that tells the story of John Blackthorne, an English pilot who is shipwrecked in Japan in the 1600s. Blackthorne is taken captive by the local daimyo, Lord Toranaga, and he must learn to adapt to the unfamiliar culture and customs of Japan. The show is based on the novel of the same name by James Clavell, and it stars Cosmo Jarvis as Blackthorne aka Anjin, Hiroyuki Sanada as Toranaga and Anna Sawai as Toda Mariko. Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for information about all your favorite fictional Universes.Marvel's upcoming Fantastic Four has found its big, bad, planet-eating villain in the form of British actor, Ralph Ineson. While not necessarily a household name, many fans will recognize the character actor from his various appearances from franchises including Game of Thrones and Harry Potter. John Malkovich also joined the cast last week in an undisclosed role.  During an earnings conference call last week WB Discovery head-honcho David Zaslav revealed a film titled Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum is actively being developed. The script is in early development and the studio has attached Gollum, himself, Andy Serkis, as the director, with a 2026 release being targeted. Elsewhere in Middle Earth, Amazon treated us to the first trailer for the upcoming second season of The Rings of Power alongside the announcement that it would premiere August 29. Ahead of his animated DCU debut in Creature Commandos, Frank Grillo has been announced to have joined Peacemaker for its second season, returning as the character of Rick Flag Sr. from the animated series. Grillo is the unique position of not only playing a character in live action and animation, but the character is also the father of the previously seen Rick Flag Jr., played by Joel Kinnaman in both Suicide Squad films. The highly anticipated Kathryn Hahn-led Agatha Harkness Disney Plus series, which acts as a follow up to WandaVision, has been no stranger to title changes, previously being titled Agatha: House of Harkness, Coven of Chaos, and most recently Darkhold Diaries. The marketing seemed to be leaning into the chaos and confusion, with the new title The Lying Witch with Great Wardrobe teased in a deleted post, before eventually announcing the title as Agatha All Along. Additionally, the series will premiere with 2-episodes, September 18 and a teaser is expected to debut this Friday.  NFL tight end and Taylor Swift's boyfriend, Travis Kelce, secured his first major acting role in Ryan Murphy's FX horror series Grotesquerie. Details about his role remain unclear for now. The Office reboot has been greenlit by Peacock, with an official synopsis revealing the documentary crew's new subject: a dying historic Midwestern newspaper and its publisher's efforts to revive it with volunteer reporters. During their Up Front presentation, Disney revealed early looks at Daredevil Born Again and Ironheart but currently both of these trailers are unavailable to the public. Daredevil is expected to release in March of next year and will be 9 episodes long. Ironheart is expected to be released sometime next year. Glen Powell is in early talks to star in the next film from director JJ Abrams. At the moment, plot details for the project are being kept under wraps. Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery are breaking ground in streaming with a bundled offering featuring Disney+, Hulu and Max. A launch date and price point have not yet been announced. Comcast also announced a similar upcoming bundle that will offer Peacock, Netflix, and AppleTV+ at a discount price. Prime Video's animated Batman series, Batman: Caped Crusader, executive produced by JJ Abrams, Matt Reeves, and Bruce Timm, will premiere all 10 episodes on August 1. The announcement came with character descriptions, first-look images, and an official logline. Peacock has ordered a second season of the Seth MacFarlane-created series Ted, which serves as a prequel to the two feature films of the same name. Hiroyuki Sanada, star and producer of FX's limited series Shōgun, has closed a deal to reprise his role as Lord Yoshii Toranaga for a potential second season. FX is finalizing deals as part of efforts to continue Shōgun following its commercial and critical success.
