Dane is honest and forthcoming about his childhood trauma and his attempts to cover up his emotions by any means. Being prescribed ADHD medications in his teenage years proved to be a temporary solution for a long term problem. Enlisting in the military and eventually graduating to stronger substances proved to be the only fix he knew. Dane explains how money and prestige didn't make him unique during his active addiction. Dane's disease ultimately led him to institutions and nearly death after an overdose of methamphetamine. With being so early in his recovery, Dane is a pillar in the rooms. Elected Sheriff of Sandusky County at the age of 34 years old, Kyle Overmyer was diagnosed with arthritis (from sports injuries) and prescribed Vicodin for pain. He eventually became addicted, started doctor shopping and taking old medications from take back boxes. He was criminally indicted by a grand jury for 42 related felony drug charges.
