Welcome to another inspiring round of "Did It Anyway" stories, where we celebrate real wins from our community members who chose to move forward despite their anxiety. In this episode, Drew and Josh share powerful listener stories that illustrate a fundamental truth about anxiety recovery: you can take meaningful action even when you feel scared, uncertain, or overwhelmed. From someone driving to the gym after a panic attack at work, to a listener climbing a boulder wall despite intense fear, to another person attending a job interview while experiencing physical symptoms - these stories show what's possible when we stop waiting for anxiety to disappear before we live our lives. You'll hear about:Breaking the pattern of retreating when anxiety shows upNavigating workplace anxiety while still showing up professionallyTaking on new challenges like rock climbing and learning musical instrumentsAttending job interviews despite panic symptomsManaging health anxiety during an actual medical situationThe difference between an "acceptable bubble" and true recoveryThese aren't stories of people who suddenly felt better - they're accounts of individuals who learned they could be capable and engaged with their lives even when anxiety was present. Each story demonstrates core principles from acceptance-based approaches: willful tolerance of difficult emotions, psychological flexibility, and values-driven action.Whether you're just starting your recovery journey or you've been working on anxiety for years, these real-world examples offer hope and practical inspiration. They remind us that recovery isn't about eliminating anxiety - it's about reclaiming your ability to do what matters to you, regardless of how you feel in the moment.---Disordered Roundtables are here! Send us a textEver wonder what separates the starters from the bench in high school baseball? The answer might surprise you—it has less to do with March tryouts and everything to do with what happens in September. The players who earn starting positions understand that the foundation is built months before the season begins. Physical preparation through consistent participation in team weightlifting programs doesn't just build strength—it demonstrates commitment while allowing coaches to evaluate work ethic directly. Smart players balance this intensity with proper rest and recovery, understanding that overtraining can be as detrimental as undertraining. What truly separates good players from great ones is their approach to weakness. While most athletes naturally gravitate toward practicing what they already do well, future starters deliberately focus on improving their vulnerabilities. Can't hit a curveball? That becomes the priority. Struggling with backhand plays? Extra repetitions addressing that specific skill become essential. Coaches notice players who work to eliminate weaknesses rather than simply showcasing strengths. The mental game represents another crucial differentiator. In baseball, where even the best hitters fail seven out of ten times, mental toughness becomes paramount. The off-season provides ample opportunity to develop this mental edge through reading, visualization practices, and learning how to handle both failure and success. Players who approach batting practice with purpose—working on specific situations like two-strike approaches or opposite-field hitting—develop game-ready skills that random swinging simply cannot produce.Parents play a vital role in this preparation journey. Understanding that the process requires patience and perspective can make all the difference. Not every player makes varsity as a freshman, and not every upperclassman starts immediately. The players who ultimately succeed use setbacks as motivation rather than reasons to give up or blame others. The reality of high school baseball is simple but often misunderstood: coaches play their "favorite" players, but these favorites earn that status through reliability, consistent performance, and competitive practice habits.Want to increase your chances of making the starting lineup this spring? Struggling to get your spouse involved in retirement planning? You are not alone. Many financially-minded partners lose their spouse's attention by jumping straight into 401(k) allocations or tax strategies. The result is glazed eyes and little engagement. This approach works differently. Start with powerful, open-ended questions that spark curiosity and connection. Ask things like “What does your perfect retirement day look like?” or “If we had to spend $150,000 this year, how would you want to use it?” These prompts bypass resistance and lead to meaningful conversations about dreams, priorities, and lifestyle. When you know whether your partner envisions constant travel or staying close to home, or whether they fear losing purpose more than running out of money, you can build a plan you both believe in. Lifestyle clarity comes first. The numbers follow naturally.Retirement planning is not just about financial optimization. It is about creating a shared vision for the years ahead with the person who matters most. Try these questions with your partner and watch the conversation shift from spreadsheets to shared dreams.Visit earlyretirementpodcast.com to share your results or explore tools for building a plan that works for both of you.-Advisory services are offered through Root Financial Partners, LLC, an SEC-registered investment adviser.
