Warmest of Welcomes everybody and Merry Christmas The end of the year is a time of relaxation and good company and what better way to celebrate the 2025 christmas break than to have an episode dedicated to just that. Myself (Max) and Zac have given it our all over the first full year of Mooglecast and we thought we'd challenge ourselves to give you guys a full 2hr episode of freestyle, the topic? NO TOPIC! The first of what we hope will be many general chatter! We often start the recording session by having the best conversations before we even hit record and we decided to nip this in the bud and hit record as soon as we got into the call for that extra bit of authenticity! As far as what subjects are brought up, we talk about our moments of being starstruck, a controversial bass player, holiday plans for 2026 and of course a sprinkle of gaming related crap. In January we will be returning to our usual 3rd sunday slot joinned by newcomer to the Discord - Katieeee, but not before our 2nd xmas gift to you in the form of an extra bonus episode where I will be rejoined by Maurice for part 2 of our Guitar Hero special, but for now we hope you enjoy this special episode! No tuvo ni voz ni voto en el asunto: nació para ser rey. Debido a la muerte prematura de su padre, lo nombraron rey el día mismo de su nacimiento, 17 de mayo de 1886. Así que su madre María Cristina de Austria gobernó en su lugar, como regente, hasta 1902, cuando él cumplió los dieciséis años. Pero se le consideró rey de España desde casi siete meses antes de nacer, cuando su madre, ya viuda, estaba esperando su nacimiento, junto con todo el reino, sin saber si sería varón, y por lo tanto el heredero al trono en lugar de la Princesa María de las Mercedes, que era la hija mayor.1 Desde luego, se trata de Alfonso XIII, el abuelo del rey Juan Carlos I y el bisabuelo del rey Felipe VI. Acto seguido, Alfonso XIII se marchó rumbo al exilio, conduciendo él mismo su propio Duesenberg J, un coche deportivo descapotable que era una maravilla de la automoción con más de 200 caballos de fuerza.2 Tres días después, el pueblo español leyó a su vez, en el diario ABC, aquel histórico manifiesto de despedida de Alfonso XIII, que comenzaba con estas palabras: «Las elecciones celebradas el domingo me revelan claramente que no tengo hoy el amor de mi pueblo.»3 Así como Alfonso XIII hijo de Alfonso XII, Jesucristo el Hijo de Dios también nació para ser rey. Y, al igual que el pueblo español, el pueblo judío tuvo que esperar con paciencia el día de su nacimiento. Pero a diferencia de Alfonso XIII, cuando Jesús nació, su pueblo no lo reconoció como tal,4 sino sólo unos sabios del Oriente que viajaron hasta Judea para adorarlo como el que había nacido rey de los judíos.5 Y no llegó entonces a ocupar el trono ni presentó su renuncia por escrito en sus juicios ante el Consejo de los judíos ni ante el gobernador romano Poncio Pilato. ¿Habrá alguna razón oculta por la que los nobles de antaño sostenían en alto el brazo de su espada? Sí, pero es una razón más ignorada que oculta, ya que los tales nobles sostenían el brazo en alto para mostrar la filigrana de venas azuladas bajo su pálida piel. Con sus venas azuladas pretendían demostrar su genealogía, comprobando así que no habían mezclado su sangre con la de los moros o los judíos. Y por su palidez se distinguían de los campesinos y trabajadores que se bronceaban bajo el sol. Según el historiador británico Robert Lacey en su obra titulada Aristócratas, ese concepto de «sangre azul» para referirse a la nobleza y a la aristocracia nació en la España del siglo noveno.1 Lo cierto es que se arraigó a tal grado en la sociedad que muchos aún piensan que se refiere exclusivamente a los reyes, y que sea la razón por la que al príncipe que va al rescate de una dama en apuros se le conozca, en español, con el nombre de príncipe azul.2 Sin embargo, otra explicación en cuanto al origen de la «sangre azul», igualmente digna de consideración, es que se debe a la argiria o al saturnismo. Las dos son enfermedades que hacen que la piel y otras partes del cuerpo tomen un tono azulado. La argiria la contrae quien ha sido expuesto excesiva y prolongadamente a la plata, mientras que el saturnismo lo contrae quien ha ingerido un alto índice de plomo. A los aristócratas en particular, sin saberlo, la plata y el plomo los iba intoxicando poco a poco al comer y beber todos los días con cubiertos y copas de plata, como también en vasos, jarras y botellas de cristal. Es que, desde la antigüedad, al vidrio se le añadía plomo para hacerlo transparente y sobre todo brillante, convirtiéndolo así en cristal, que se usaba comúnmente para hacer vasos, jarras y botellas de gran valor y belleza destinados en gran parte a la aristocracia. El beber todos los días en tales vasos, como también almacenar vinos durante largo tiempo en botellas fabricadas de ese modo, hacía que el líquido acabara pasando al cuerpo del aristócrata que lo bebía y que, con el paso del tiempo, lo fuera intoxicando. Por eso en la actualidad está controlado y restringido el nivel del plomo que contiene el cristal empleado para fabricar objetos de uso común.3 Uno de los relatos más conocidos de la historia universal, que se lee, se recita y se dramatiza alrededor del mundo en cada Navidad, es el del nacimiento de un niño que los profetas de Israel anunciaron que llegaría a ser rey.
