Stacey has made it her mission to focus on teaching minority students the importance of learning math, science, engineering, arts, and medicine. She emphasizes that these are the job fields of the future and many times they are the highest paying jobs also. She talks about how she “accidentally” stumbled into the idea of being a STEM educator and how she was discouraged by some who thought it was too hard of a field for an African American Woman. She overcame that. In her spare time, Stacey runs a peer group for teachers where they share best practices, resources, and experiences to help each other become more effective educators. Stacey has experience teaching students in New York City, Atlanta, GA, and the Greater Hartford Area so she has a wealth of knowledge on connecting and reaching inner-city students. Before becoming close friends with him at VVM, I remember the program director silencing the room to announce that Jeremy and his team had raised over $150,000 for his idea. I had watched every episode of Shark Tank and at that time I had never personally known anyone who had raised six or seven figures for their business. It lit a fire under me.

Jonathan makes a consumer product called BLENDi, a sports drink cup with a blender at the bottom. He came up with the idea one day after a workout when he poured water and protein powder into his shaker cup and the cup didn't mix the powder well, leaving him chewing on clumps of soggy protein. From here Jonathan purchased a regular sports drink cup with blender blades at the bottom but it was horrible. Battery life was weak, the motor was insufficient so it didn't blend well, and it was made of cheap plastic. So he created BLENDi TradeSecrets by: Tripletote is Hosted by Antwaine Debnam TradeSecrets by: Tripletote is produced by www.CapriMediaCompany (.com)

Impact Training is a sports and wellness company that does sports skills training, conditioning, curriculum, and basketball leagues. These two guys are from the Greater Hartford Area -Bloomfield and Windsor, their high school teams were basketball rivals, and they both played basketball professionally overseas. Chris played in Panama and Steve played for a team in Canada. They linked back up when they both returned home, reconnected, and shared stories of their experience overseas. That was the origin of Impact Training.
My name is Antwaine Debnam and on this episode of the podcast we have a very special guest, her name is Shanyelle Young and she’s a successful real estate agent with her own firm. I met her at a conference in Hartford where I was the moderator and she was one of our panelists. She has a very interesting story regarding her rise to success and building her own real estate firm. Also, she has an office with a great view. Shanyelle started out in real estate working for another broker at Gillette Real Estate. Three years ago, she decided to start her own firm, S. Young Realty & Associates, LLC, located in Manchester CT. Her office is conveniently located next door to her husband's insurance company office. This office opening up next door to her husband was also part of the catalyst for her decision to venture out on her own. She has a number of realtors working under her and she’s a mentor to her staff. What I learned and loved when interview her was that she is a war-time general. That means that she is in the trenches working hard with her staff. She still engages with a large number of clients, she lists their homes, find homes for other clients, handles issues that inevitably arise when doing real estate transactions, make sure her clients are getting a good deal, closes that deal, and then helps the client get set up in that home. She does all of this for her own clients while assisting her staff with their customers.
