Send Me a Message! I'm back! It's been a little while between episodes, but in this check-in, I bring you along for the ride—literally. I talk about my recent solo road trip to the Gold Coast (via the very chill detour through Nimbin) to watch my beloved Newcastle Knights take on the Titans. The trip was meant to help me slow down and de-stress... but let's be real, it didn't quite go as planned. From battling anxiety on the open road to grappling with post-trip blues (and watching the Knights cop a flogging), this episode unpacks how even our best intentions to rest can get derailed by a dysregulated nervous system. I also touch on CBD oil, the struggle of feeling anxious before and after the trip, and how this lingering anxiety has been nudging me toward a depressive episode I'm now trying to fight off. This one's raw, reflective, and full of the honesty you've come to expect from The Dysregulated Podcast. If you've ever tried to give yourself a break and still ended up overwhelmed, this one's for you.--Follow my journey living with mental illness and the hard-fought lessons learned along the way. Lived experience is the driving force of this podcast, and through this lens, my stories are told. This is a raw, honest, and authentic account of how multiple psychological disorders have shaped my past and continue to influence my future.Support the showTo support the show, CLICK HEREYou can follow me on Instagram: @elliot.t.waters

— There are lots of reasons to use CBD oil. From pain and inflammation relief to help with conditions like insomnia or ADHD, it's one of the closest things we've found to a miracle drug. But it's important to know how CBD oil works in order to buy the best quality. Basically, cannabidiol (CBD) binds with various receptors in your body to work its magic. For example, CBD has a strong affinity to fatty acid binding proteins (FABP) that are responsible for chaperoning lipids to the cell interior. This delays adenosine uptake in the cell which is responsible for inflammation. You don't need to understand the science to get the takeaway: you're putting something in your body that will affect your cells. Wouldn't you only want the purest, highest-quality product if it's basically becoming a part of you? Valeria interviews Dawn Norby — She is the Founder of Budding Botanicals. Dawn Norby's son was diagnosed with idiopathic aplastic anemia in 2006. In 2011, he needed a bone marrow transplant. Make A Wish came to us and asked if they could grant him a wish before his transplant. He chose to go to Scotland and golf at St. Andrew's Golf Course. Little did we know that this trip would be what got him through his pain of treatments before his transplant. It was then that Dawn decided to pay it forward and become a volunteer for Make A Wish. Before she could start her volunteering, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Going through the same types of treatments her son went through, she knew her mission was to find a way to help volunteer for others. Well, she was finally able to make that wish come true. Her first Wish kiddo was dealing with Leukemia and was in much pain from the side effects of chemotherapy. Being able to relate to his pain, his mother asked if I could make something to help his son alleviate his pain. After speaking with his doctors, they recommended what ever I did make, be all-natural. Off to study for Dawn. She finally decided Hemp isolate would be best as it is all-natural and THC free! She made a salve and took it to him. After using it just once, he was able to play with his brother for the first time is months! It was then that she knew she wanted to help people in pain find an all-natural pain relief that would help them also find relief. A business was started! Eleven years later and they still make everything in small batches with all-natural ingredients. To learn more about Dawn Norby and her work, please visit: https://www.buddingbotanicalsca.com/

A truck driver consumed CBD oil, failed a drug test, and was fired from his job, but can he sue the companies that make the product for three times his lost wages? That was the question before the Supreme Court in a case that tests the scope of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, a federal law otherwise known as RICO that was designed to fight organized crime. RICO is a criminal law, but it allows people to bring a civil suit to get three times their damages and attorneys' fees if their "business or property" is hurt by a criminal enterprise. The manufacturers of the CBD product say the truck driver in this case suffered a personal injury not an injury to his business or property and can't sue them under the law. In 1989, she moved with her husband to be to Hong Kong and got a job lecturing in English and Business Communication at the Open University. Whilst in Hong Kong, she also completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and and a Masters Degree in Lifelong learning. In Hong Kong, she also had two children, her eldest child was born in 1994 and suffered with ear infections and reacted badly to antibiotics. In desperation, she attended a six week evening course in homeopathy with a homeopath who was practising in Hong Kong, but interestingly born in Tasmania, and our lives changed. Homeopathy then became the basis of our healthcare in our family. Rachel moved back to the UK, back to the country in Suffolk, in 1999 and settled into family life on a small holding. She continued to work in distance education online while the children were small, but 15 years ago, she decided to retrain to be a Homeopath and have now been qualified and practicing in Suffolk for ten years. Alongside Homeopathy, she also offers Bach Flower Therapy, Homeobotanical therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Kinesiology (using NAET which is an allergy elimination technique) and Presentchild® Translation. Presentchild® is a therapy that can really help to improve communication within the family unit. During lockdown, she also trained to be an end of life counsellor using the Before I Go method. She also teaches for the organisation 'Homeopathy at Wellie Level' which teaches farmers how to use homeopathy with their animals. Rachel loves to combine her educational background with her profession now, teaching people how to use Homeopathy effectively. Author, business lady and skincare wizard (according to her customs card), Zoë Foster Blake is nothing short of prolific. Chatting with Hugh, Ryan and Josh in this Vulnerabilitea House, Zoë talks through the pressure and responsibility she felt during her loneliest time. Striking ‘luck' as a dirty word, Zoë's compulsion to be productive and produce ‘good work' has earned her a multitude of publishing awards for her numerous books, the production of one of her novels into a TV show, the stocking of her skincare brand Go-To in Mecca and Sephora, and a cult following. But something's gotta give when you're striving to have it all, and Zoë knows better than anyone how relationships, mental and physical health can all suffer when you're burn-out adjacent. Zoë preaches the importance of sleep, and discusses how she combats anxious thoughts before bedtime, as well as perimenopause (and how you're probably gaslighting yourself into thinking you aren't going through it). I don't know if I'll ever go on a cruise ship. The only part that really interest me is tasting a wide variety of food in a short amount of time. Plus my anxiety about riding on a human petri dish would get the best of me and cause all kinds of embarrassment. Not to mention that there are hundreds of people around and having to move as a pack once you arrive for an excursion. Gives me the shivers. Anyway, there is a recent news story about a person kicked off a ship because of CBD Gummies. Those of an anxious nature need to know that you cannot travel on cruse ships that have a U.S. port with any form of marijuana or medicinal products derived from that substance. Under U.S. federal law, it is still illegal. And federal law supersede your local state law. You can be fined. You can be arrested. Or worse, lose all that money you paid to cruise in the first place. And that is just in a U.S. port. Don't even think about doing it oversees. In this episode a heads up about not bring cannabis products on the ship. A step towards increasing the availability of CBD products. CBD is a compound found in marijuana but has little to no psychoactive effects. Medsafe has reclassified CBD from prescription only to a restricted medicine, meaning low-dose CBD medicines can be sold by pharmacists. But Pharmacy Guild Chief Executive Andrew Gaudin told Mike Hosking that there are currently no low-dose products approved here. He says this is the encouragement to manufacturers to start the process of developing products, which they'll then have to demonstrate the benefits of to get them approved. I'll provide practical tips and small steps that you can take to ensure your dog lives a happier, more relaxed life. By the end of this article, you'll have a deeper understanding of why it's crucial to care for your dog's emotional well-being and how you can make a difference in their lives. Let's work together to help our furry friends feel safe, calm, and loved. Key Takeaways: Dogs take on their owner's energies so it's important that owners have reduced stress levels as well. KNOW HOW TO HANDLE DOG STRESS BETTER WITH THE DOG CALMING CODE™️ Table of Contents: Dear Dog Owner, Do You Know That Dog Stress Relief Starts with You? Stress Relief for Dogs: Signs of Stress in Dogs That You Should Look Out For The Four Fs of Dog Stress Dogs Stress Reliever: What Vets Recommend for Dog Anxiety and Stress Relief What Naturally Calms Dogs and Reduce Dog Stress Stress Relief and Dogs: How to Promote Dog Mental Health Remember, Dear Pet Owner, Dog Stress Relief Begins with a Stress-free Owner Dear Dog Owner, Do You Know That Dog Stress Relief Starts With You? Like what I have previously mentioned in the past article about taking the lead from your dog when choosing a vet, dogs FEEL energy. In fact, dogs mirror us. Take a moment to recall how your dogs react during the times when you were stressed. Were they fidgety? Did they show increased clinginess? Were they barking non-stop? Our dogs can feel it if we are stressed so that is why I tell dog owners that if they want stress relief for dogs, they need to start with being calm and stress-free themselves. Keeping our stress levels in-check, and remembering that our stress affects our dogs is one of the best first steps to dog stress relief. Stress Relief for Dogs: Signs of Stress in Dogs That You Should Look Out For Stress can manifest in your dogs in a variety of ways, some of which can be quite subtle. I always encourage dog owners to pick up these signs immediately to alleviate a dog's stress. Here are some critical signs of stress in dog to help you know if your dog's on the edge. Excessive Barking You dog may bark excessively if they are feeling anxious or stressed. If your dog is barking more than usual, it could be a sign that they are under stress. Aggression A stressed dog is a protective dog. Your dog can become aggressive, especially towards people or animals they perceive as a threat. Changes in Appetite Is your dog not eating their favorite treats? Are they showing a loss of appetite on food they regularly enjoy? Dogs may eat more or less than usual when they are stressed or when they're anxious. DOG TRAINING = LESS DOG STRESS. GET THE DOG CALMING CODE™️ Hiding If your dog is feeling stressed, they may hide away from people and other animals. This behavior is especially common in dogs that are afraid of loud noises or have separation anxiety. Excessive Licking Dogs may lick themselves excessively when they are feeling anxious or stressed. The Four F's of Dog Stress and Anxiety The 4 F's of stress in dogs are also important to understand. They stand for Fight, Flight, Freeze, and Fidget. These are natural responses that dogs have when they feel threatened or stressed. Fight When dogs feel stressed, they may become aggressive and ready to fight. This can manifest in behaviors such as growling, biting, or lunging. If you notice your dog showing signs of aggression, it's important to remove them from the situation and seek professional help. Flight On the other hand, some dogs may try to flee or escape when they feel stressed. This can involve running away or trying to hide. Dogs may also try to seek refuge in a small, enclosed space such as under a bed or behind furniture. REDUCE PUPPY STRESS WITH PUPPY COACH™️! Freeze When dogs feel overwhelmed or threatened, they may also freeze in place. This can manifest in behaviors such as standing still, holding their breath, or staring intensely at the source of stress. Dogs may also show a lack of interest in their surroundings or seem disconnected from their environment. Fidget Finally, some dogs may fidget or display repetitive behaviors when they're feeling stressed. This can include things like excessive licking, pawing, or pacing. Dogs may also vocalize in unusual ways or show signs of restlessness. Dogs Stress Reliever: What Vets Recommend for Dog Anxiety and Stress Relief You and your vet can work together in bringing dog stress relief to your beloved pet. Vets may suggest various methods for calming stressed-out dogs, including behavior modification or a more holistic treatment plans like aromatherapy or CBD oils. Behavior Modification Behavior modification techniques involve changing the way your dog responds to specific situations that trigger anxiety. For example, if your dog becomes anxious when left alone, you can try gradually increasing the time you're away from home and rewarding your dog for calm behavior. DOGGY DAN'S DOG CALMING CODE™️: TRUSTED BY 80,000+ DOG OWNERS Consistency and patience are key in behavior modification, so it's important to work with a professional trainer or behaviorist to develop a plan that works for your dog. Exercise and Enrichment Regular exercise and mental stimulation can also be helpful in reducing anxiety in dogs. Activities like walks, playtime, and puzzle toys can provide a positive outlet for nervous energy and help your dog feel more relaxed. What Naturally Calms Dogs and Reduce Dog Stress Many dogs find natural remedies helpful for reducing stress levels. For example, playing calming music or providing a cozy and secure space can help your dog feel more relaxed. Aromatherapy, using essential oils such as lavender or chamomile, can also be effective in calming your furry friend. Additionally, physical activities such as a walk or playtime can provide a positive distraction and boost endorphins, which help relieve stress. CBD Oils for Stress Relief for Dogs CBD oil is a natural and safe option for calming dogs who are prone to anxiety, restlessness, or hyperactivity. Once ingested, the cannabinoids in the oil interact with the endocannabinoid receptors in the central and peripheral nervous system of your dog, providing a calming effect on the brain. This can prevent your dog from exhibiting unwanted behaviors such as barking, chewing, fidgeting, and hyperactivity. Moreover, the calming effect of CBD oil helps your dog focus better, which can be very beneficial when it comes to stress and anxiety. By promoting a sense of calm and relaxation, CBD oil can help your dog become calmer and less agitated. RAISE PUPPIES WITHOUT THE STRESS WITH THE PUPPY COACH™️ PROGRAM By incorporating these techniques, you can help your dog manage stress and live a happier, healthier life. However, it's important to note that what works for one dog may not work for another, and if your pet's stress levels persist, you should consult a veterinarian. Natural Remedies Many natural remedies can help calm your anxious dog. CBD oil, chamomile tea, and herbal supplements like valerian root can be effective in reducing anxiety levels. Meditation with Owners During meditation, owners can provide a calming and reassuring presence for their dogs. Sitting in a relaxed, peaceful state can have a calming effect on both the owner and the dog, which can help to reduce stress and anxiety levels. Meditation calms and regulates breathing and through this, owners can set a positive example for their dogs how to breathe to relax. DOGGY DAN'S DOG CALMING CODE™️ HELPS YOU RAISE DOGS THAT LOVE AND TRUST YOU Practicing meditation with your dog can also provide dogs with positive reinforcement. Dogs thrive on praise and attention from their owners, and by rewarding them with attention and affection during meditation, you can help promote positive behaviors and relaxation. Stress Relief and Dogs: How to Promote Dog Mental Health Just like humans, dogs also need proper care and attention to maintain their mental well-being. Here are some ways to promote your dog's mental health: Know if Your Dog is Happy Knowing if your dog is happy is key to promoting their mental health. Some common signs of a happy dog include wagging tail, relaxed posture, playful behavior, and good appetite. However, it's important to remember that every dog is different and may show happiness in different ways. Provide Plenty of Exercise and Playtime Dogs need plenty of physical exercise and mental stimulation to keep their minds and bodies healthy. Providing your dog with regular exercise and playtime can help reduce their stress and anxiety, as well as promote a positive attitude. Give Your Dog Proper Nutrition A well-balanced diet is crucial to maintain your dog's physical and mental health. Feeding your dog a high-quality diet that meets their nutritional needs can help promote their overall well-being and reduce the risk of developing health problems. I actually have a Podcast episode with DeDe Murcer Moffett, a dog food nutritionist, where we talk about the benefits of raw food to dogs. Go give it a listen! DOG CALMING CODE: THE DOG TRAINING METHOD THAT DOESN'T STRESS DOGS Provide Plenty of Love and Attention Dogs are social animals and need plenty of love and attention from their owners. Spending quality time with your dog, such as cuddling, playing, or training, can help strengthen your bond and promote their mental health. In fact, giving a dog time and attention is actually one of the ten things I want every dog owner to know! Bring Stress Relief to Dogs By Creating a Safe and Comfortable Environment Providing your dog with a safe and comfortable environment is also essential to promoting their mental health. Ensuring that your dog has a quiet and comfortable place to rest, as well as toys and activities to keep them occupied, can help reduce their stress and anxiety. By following these tips, you can help promote your dog's mental health and ensure that they live a happy and fulfilling life. Remember, Dear Pet Owner, Dog Stress Relief Begins with a Stress-free Owner Your dog does not only go to you for protection and fun; they also take in your energy. One of the first step to giving stress relief to dogs is by reducing your own stress levels. Reduce stress by meditating, by living in the moment, and by remembering that there's nothing wrong with doing things and living life the calm way. Because it's not only you who deserves that. Your dogs need a calm owner, too. You got this. ~ Doggy Dan

Cannabis is being studied more and more in both human and veterinary medicine, and if your dog has cancer, you have probably seen at least one person recommend CBD oil. But all of the terms can be very confusing and may sound the same. Knowing what each term means can help you and your veterinarian determine if CBD is appropriate for your dog and help you to choose a safe and effective product. Here are a few of the terms discussed in today's show: Cannabis is a plant with many compounds reported to have medicinal properties. These compounds are called cannabinoids. The two most famous cannabinoids are CBD (cannabidiol) and THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol). THC has hallucinatory psychoactive effects and can be toxic to dogs, while CBD has much more calming effects and is safe for dogs. Marijuana and hemp are both categories of the cannabis plant. Marijuana refers to a cannabis plant with over 0.3% THC, while hemp refers to a cannabis plant that has 0.3% THC or less. And when choosing a product, a Certificate of Analysis (CoA) is critical so that you know exactly what is in each product! Listen in to hear more, and check back next week for part one of our in-depth discussion on CBD with veterinarian Dr. Narda Robinson. On this week's episode of Soaring Child, we are exploring an interesting topic - CBD oil and ADHD. CBD is one of the most highly researched plants and has been shown to be beneficial for a variety of body systems. In this episode, we discuss how it can benefit children with ADHD, as well as their caregivers. Liz Carlisle is the host of the Motherhood Unstressed podcast. Through the show Liz converses with brilliant minds to empower and uplift her audience of women all over the world to live with less stress and more purpose and joy. Liz is interested in the importance of non-negotiable self-care for mothers informed by personal experience. All of these pieces of the puzzle culminate into the brand Motherhood Unstressed, which believes that life is meant to be rich with purpose, cherished with loved ones, and wholeheartedly enjoyed. Key Takeaways: [3:01] What is CBD oil? [3:40] What is the difference between CBD and THC? [5:37] How does CBD oil help balance that system? [6:44] Is CBD legal? [9:24] Does CBD help ADHD symptoms? [13:33] How did Liz get into CBD? [22:08] Why does quality matter in CBD? Memorable Quotes: “CBD is short for cannabidiol and is simply one molecule out of many in the cannabis plant. I think a lot of people hear cannabis plant, and they immediately think of the marijuana plant, but the cannabis plant is kind of like the overarching plant that you can split into the marijuana plant or if it contains less than a certain amount of THC in it, it becomes hemp.” “An interesting point is that we actually make our own cannabinoids. That's why it's called the endocannabinoid system because we produce cannabinoids, and we actually produce it during exercise, during sleep, all of these healthy practices, but most of us don't produce enough.” ”It is legal in all 50 states because again, it's coming from the hemp plant. It's not a marijuana plant so you're not violating any federal laws.” “I tell my clients that when you start taking CBD, up the amount that you would normally do in the morning. You could take some in the afternoon and then at night so that you build up that reserve in your system.” “The only side effects I could imagine is if you took way too much, you would probably want to lay down and take a nap.” “When I first started Motherhood Unstressed, I was doing a little bit of mommy influencing and that kind of stuff. And so a CBD brand reached out to me to promote their product.” “Living intentionally to me means starting your day with the intention of like, I know, stuff is going to get crazy. That's the nature of life. But I'm not going to let these outside circumstances overwhelm me.” “I can't control anything else…but I can control how I react to it.” “When a stressful situation comes, centering yourself back into that intention, you know, can be so, so powerful.” “Think about what that does in someone's life, when you go out into your day, and you're not constantly reacting to things.” “CBD is an amazing plant for so many reasons. But it is a great plant for pulling heavy toxic metals out of the ground. They actually used the hemp plant to clean up Chernobyl…So, quality matters.” How to Connect with Liz Carlile: Website: https://www.motherhoodunstressed.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/motherhoodunstressed/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpY6K-FcNoqfX59OK1K3AOA Podcast: https://lizcarlile.libsyn.com/ Dana Kay Resources: Website: https://adhdthriveinstitute.com/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ADHDThriveInstitute/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/adhdthriveinstitute/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/ADHDThriveInstitute LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/adhd-thrive-institute/mycompany/ Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.ph/adhdthriveinstitute/ Tiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@adhd_thriveinstitute International Best Selling Book, Thriving with ADHD – https://adhdthriveinstitute.com/book/ Free Reduce ADHD Symptoms Naturally Masterclass – https://info.adhdthriveinstitute.com/25min-webinar-registration ADHD Parenting Course – https://adhdthrivemethod.com/adhd-thrive-jump-start-parenting-4-adhd ADHD Thrive Method 4 Kids Program – https://adhdthriveinstitute.com/packages/
