She is also the Faculty teacher for the internationally recognised Buff BonesBadge Registered outline Osteoporosis program for Australia and has been the Brisbane Pilates teacher of Cirque Du Soleil for Totem in 2015, Kooza in 2016 and Kurios in 2020. Lisa began her Pilates journey in 2001 whilst living in Los Angeles.2003 Lisa trained at the Physicalmind Institute in Los Angeles and New York. Returning to Australia in 2006, her passion for learning and a desire to further explore Joseph Pilates' work led her to Sally Anderson, the Founder and Director of Pilates International (PilatesITC). Lisa has a vibrant personality and infectious passion for Pilates and movement that resonates in all that she does. Her teaching philosophy is client-centric, emphasising correct movement patterning, posture awareness, and general well-being. She is dedicated to seeing growth and change both for her clients and any teachers she is mentoring. In this Conversation, Katie and Lisa discuss bone health and osteoporosis. They cover topics such as the importance of bone health, the differences between osteoporosis and osteopenia, factors that affect bone density, and exercises to avoid or modify for individuals with low bone density. They also emphasize the need for ongoing exercise and lifestyle choices to maintain bone health. Takeaways Osteoporosis is a common skeletal disorder characterized by compromised bone strength, while osteopenia refers to low bone density. Factors that affect bone density include genetics, lifestyle choices, age, and hormonal changes. Maintaining bone health requires regular exercise, particularly weight-bearing and resistance exercises, as well as a balanced diet. Individuals with low bone density should avoid or modify exercises that involve loaded flexion, rotation, or lateral flexion. It is important to address bone health early in life and continue to prioritize it throughout all stages of life. Avoid loaded flexion exercises for individuals with osteoporosis Focus on strength training, impact training, and balance/core work for bone health Incorporate upright work and add weight to stimulate bone mineral density Empower individuals with poor bone density to enjoy movement and incorporate loaded exercises Continuously learn and adapt in the Pilates journey Connect with Lisa Jackson Social Media: @lisajacksonpilates Website: https://lisajacksonpilates.com.au Take advantage of your FREE gift! You need career development, and proactive training as the workplace rapidly changes, but let's drill down to give you the maximum benefit, and ensure you have this entire key area covered, you also need to ensure career development is not just a wish list, but is aligned to the company, the person and reality. In order to this you need to make sure your training has 3 key aspects, these are; Technical, - the black and white required training, often the basics of every role. Remember not just new starters, but also as they enter new roles- you need to do this first!!!! Organizational- planning for the future, allowing your people to really engage with the business of tomorrow and develop themselves as well. Individual- Targeted at both job demands from a technical and organisational view point, but also employee needs and future growth that may not necessarily be a clear career path in the company. Adds to overall skill set, engages people and retains staff and improves culture. Once you have these identified, you can then plan your low cost high impact training programs. They are just sitting there waiting for you to identify them, as they are your people, your greatest asset. Your business has a mass of subject matter experts just waiting for the opportunity to engage further, and potentially be rewarded or recognised for their skills and abilities. Use this wisely. You can give your key people some external facilitation and training skills and then allow them to start to work on developing their programs. This can be started at management level and be seen as recognition for staff to be able to help train others. Simple ways are; Buddy or line training SME group talks adn e learning Cross functional working teams Regular team lead roles given out to run projets Subject matter experts given develop days to run as groups SUbject matter experts used as internal trainers and buddy's Training through games and competitions Leaders as trainers Develop internal trainers in high turnover or specialised areas, and reward them Mentor systems Support internship and allow your employees at all levels to practice their mentoring skills Create a talent mobility platform to match skills of mentors and mentees Partner with government bodies that provide free training- such as health, welfare or finance etc Encourage and provide the tools for self directed learning Have leaders hold round table discussions on best practice Work with final year university students to develop e-learning packages Your people really have all of the answers, but have you asked them the right questions? Are you able to utilise your greatest asset by allowing them to become more involved in the business? If not, you will fail. Tags; strategy and culture, aligning culture and strategy, strategy implementation, strategy vs culture, culture and strategy, business strategy, strategic planning, strategy software, humantelligence alignment, organizational culture, cultural change, strategy cascade, strategy, culture, align team goals, objectives, technology, people, training If you would like more information on any of these key topics I can be reached at lisa@apexbrs.com, where you can book a free discovery call.
In this unscripted bonus episode we discuss some disturbing social media trends that have fostered a toxic culture within some circles of the 2A community. How the Heat Will Start to impact your training It feels so great to be running outside again. So many runners are enjoying the nice warm weather, but soon it will become hot. Many athletes will experience a slow down in the upcoming months. We will be chatting today about the impacts of the heat on your training and what you can do to make the most out of your training this summer Sun Impact: Most people don’t think of this one first. The impact on the sun is a huge energy drainer for most people What are some ways you can avoid the sun? Should you avoid out and back routes? How to find shade? Is it important? What is the best time to run & what time of day should you avoid? Temp impact: Running in the heat is harder on your body. Your body has to work harder in the heat and humidity to run the same paces it would in cooler weather The humidity/dew point is a huge factor What temp do you start to see a slow down? Should you modify paces? Should you keep a journal? Should you go time based vs mileage based? Hydration: Hydration is now more important than ever before. You may be able to get away with not hydrating in cooler temps but not now! How often should you be drinking water? What are your tips for carrying fuel Should you do electrolytes? Should you take salt pills? At the end of the day, the heat impacts everyone differently. You need to slow down and do what works for you in the summer. Don’t compare because the heat barely effects some runners.

Hello, I want to welcome you to another episode of TradeSecrets by: Tripletote. Today I interviewed Steve Samuels and Chris Prescott, founders of Impact Training. Impact Training is a sports and wellness company that does sports skills training, conditioning, curriculum, and basketball leagues. These two guys are from the Greater Hartford Area -Bloomfield and Windsor, their high school teams were basketball rivals, and they both played basketball professionally overseas. Chris played in Panama and Steve played for a team in Canada. They linked back up when they both returned home, reconnected, and shared stories of their experience overseas. They noticed that there was no outlet in the area that trained high school and college athletes or prepared them for the realities of what it takes to become a professional athlete. That was the origin of Impact Training.
Hey monkiis, I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season and staying Wild. This podcast was inspired by the cover of a magazine I saw on my living room floor. I was taken aback when I saw the headline touting "low impact" exercise. I find it concerning that low impact training is perceived as being "better" for you than other modes of training that are more high-impact. Basically, training should be as high-impact as you can recover from and should absolutely be varied in intensity. You also need to allow for proper rest as well as include de-load training blocks. I also wanted to comment on the recent debate I heard on Joe Rogan's podcast which featured James Wilks (one of the producers of The Game Changers documentary) and Chris Kresser (Functional Medicine expert). Nutrition (in my opinion) is not so scientific and it is extremely challenging to make universal recommendations. There are certainly ways of eating that for sure are better for most people (i.e. removing processed foods) and just this step alone would provide a HUGE benefit for the vast majority of the population. After that, it's a personal experiment that you must take on for yourself. It's worth a listen if you can get past the arguing. Thank you for tuning in and please leave a 5-start review wherever you enjoy your podcasts. Let's keep spreading the good word of the wild. monkii on,-monkii Dan www.monkii.co

For over 30 years, Steve Jensen (aka Dr J) the founder and CEO of Impact Training Corporation (ITC) has held one key goal – to make a positive difference to people’s professional and personal lives, by teaching them how to achieve outstanding results in sales, so they can live the life they deserve. And during this time, thousands of people from all over the world have attended Steve’s workshops and coaching programs, and completely transformed their sales, careers, finances and lifestyles as a result.
Last year I was talking with Brad Kearns and Dave Dolle when Dave said something really interesting: he was using neurotransmitter analysis to build personalized training programs for his athletes. By giving a short written T/F test called the Braverman test, he could determine whether a client was dominant in dopamine, acetylcholine, GABA, or serotonin—and then use the results to determine their ideal training regimen. It was one of those instances where you hear something you know you'll be chewing on for the next few months.
