    Just about everyone knows what the N-word is, and despite its dubious past, it is still being widely used. In the fifth episode of Season Two of the What’s the Scenario Podcast, Ryan Hilliard returns and has a sit-down conversation with Mohamed Huque and Radwan Mohamed, and they talk about their paths to this word and whether or not it should be still used in our vocabulary today. In this episode they talk about what the N-word means to them (03:00), when they first heard the word (06:15), the different connotations and difference between the "a" and the "hard R" (09:30). They also talk about the environment that is okay to use the word (14:25), who gets a "pass" (18:00), when a non black person uses the word (24:00), the back and forth in 1990s on the culture of the word (25:15). They also have a discussion of race politics (27:20), why people who are not African American should not use the word in any context (35:00), the history of the word, and why even other people of color who are not African American should not be using the word. (36:15), Ryan's personal story on his grandfather using the hard R and why he has a problem with the word. (40:15). They also expand on today's use and meaning of the word today vs. the past (43:30), they debate on whether you can use it while listening to a song and the lived reality of the context of the word in songs.
