Side Hustles and Always Being "On" with Kenda of Krafty Kravings by Amy Dighton
It's August which means we're about two thirds of the way through the third quarter which has me thinking about the things we are going to talk about next. After thinking of what I believe you should know at this time of the year, I came up with the topic... "So You Want to Be a Top Producer?". I have a couple points for you to think about... 1. Eliminate Options for Yourself - Keep your day simple. If you're going to be a top producer in this industry 80% of your day needs to be involved in the big four. Those billable hours activities in Real Estate. Prospecting! We already know this is the first on the list on how to be a Top Producer! 2. Work Full Days - I know we can get very busy during the day however, are we actually working full days? Go into work on time, leave work on time. Create a time blocking plan that gives you full days that brings you towards where you want your business to be. 3. SCHEDULE! - Time blocking! There it is again. Creating your schedule will absolutly transform the way you go about your days. Try this, break your day into 3 parts such as Prospecting, Administration, Prospecting. Onece you start gainging traction, you can switch it up tp Prospecting, Adminsitration, negotiating deals/going on appointments. If you want to beat the curve for when you get into pace in Real Estate, follow this simple three way scheduling which is the perfect guideline to a great schedule for a top producer! 4. Make Decisions Quickly - If you're heading in the right direction and you make a wrong turn? You just adjust!Make this your mindset! Not going in any direction and just standing there, is never a good idea! Make decisions quickly and if it happens to be the wrong one, thats okay just keep moving! 5. Work on your Skills - Feed your brain with the right things. This is something you need to decide for yourself. It starts with your mindset. Take advantage of the Success Center, the companies free coaching, the VAC, Success Series, etc. There are so many tools within this company alone that will support your effort on sharpening your skills to be better within this industry. 6. Always Being the Most Knowledgeable Person in Every Transaction - You need to be the personw ho makes people feel calm by being educated. When your buyers and sellers who want to take over, you want to be the person that can step in intellegently so that they know you know your stuff! Be a student of this business and be a student of life! 7. Confront People when Necessary and Accept Critisizim - Anything that you feel will be interrupting your schedule or your flow, you should be confronting them so that you can eliminate these parts of yoru life that can be distracting or unhealthy to your growth. If someone wants to give you constructive critisizm, take it in and acceot it rather than lash out on it. Allow it to help you grow and just listen. Remember, resistance is part of the process. Ressitance is the way a lot of the time! 8. Communicate in a Timely Manner - Have you notcied whenever something happens that you should handle right away but you let it slide that it comes back almost worst? Don't do this to yourself! Just allow yourself to communicate quickly, such as a price change, be sure this is something you are having conversations about. 9. Complancency - Don't allow yourself to become complacent. The way to do this is to focus on your actions everyday and not on the results good or bad. Things good and bad will always happen. You have to stay the course and keep it simple and continue moving forward! 10. Realty Based Decisions not Ego Based - All of your decisions should be based on realty. 11. Rejections is part of the process - Not only is it part of the process, its a good thing! Without resistance there is no growth. Be sure you are staying a part of the process and remember that every time you hear, "no" there will always be a "yes"in the future. 12. Stick to the Plan - I know that there is no one who is perfect on any of this however, if you stick to the plan as best as you can, than you are guranteed to increase your business in one way or another! 13. Have an Accountability Partner - Never underestimate the importance of accountability. It is absolutly critical. Think about all the athletes who have coaches...they are constantly being pushed to their limits and being held accountable for their goals. This is crucial! Embrace it and allow yourself to let someone guide you.
Hi I am Mijaelle and in this Heart -Beats video series we chat to Mike Meiring the founder, lead guitarist and singer for Highway Jam, a blues rock / jazz fusion band. He had reasonable success in Durban and Johannesburg in the 1980s as lead guitarist with popular Durban band The Street Rockers, with their song “Don’t cry without emotion” topping the Radio 5 charts in the late 1980’s. Mike performed in a show called “Déjà Vu”, a tribute to Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, after which Highway Jam was born. Highway Jam initially comprised drummer Steve De Kock and bassist Donovan Thatcher. The early ’90s saw the release of the band’s first album, “2 B Played Loud”. Apart from the club gigs, Highway Jam played at various festivals, including Rustlers, Splashy Fen and Oppie Koppie - until 1997, when the band broke up. Mike carried on under the Highway Jam banner with Kai Horsthemke and Reuben Samuels. This ushered in a creative, synergistic period, with funk, jazz and world music influences. In 1998, Highway Jam's “Grasslands” project was recorded and released followed by “Always Being” in 1999. By 2000, a stable line-up of Mike, Ekkie, Kai and drummer Brett Collings saw the band revisiting their eclectic mix of jazz and world music influences, leaning towards hip-hop grooves. Highway Jam was voted best jazz band, regionally and nationally, in the prestigious “Old Mutual Jazz Encounters”. In 2003, the band recorded another album, “Highway Jam Goes Wild”. Highway Jam collaborated with Kathy Raven, one of the band’s all-time favourite singers. Kai, Reuben and Mike released the album “The Road Less Travelled” in 2017. Topics discussed in part 2 are: 1 - The origins of the name Highway Jam 2 - Playing different genres opens you up to new audiences - Garage grunge to blues rock and jazz fusion 3 - Jazz fusion includes complex arrangements and requires technical proficiency. The grasslands album has songs with various time signatures 4 - Is it important to create emerging sounds and to be influenced by your environment. For example the birth of Delta Blues (from Mississippi Blues creating Chicago Blues) 5 - Songwriting can be a cathartic process like Bukka White's song Parchman Farm Blues - so have you had a tough experience that influenced you musically? 6 - Is it important to leave a listener with a positive feeling regardless of the genre or subject matter? 7 - Music for Music sake - being creative outside of the box and that has deeper meaning 8 - Was composing The Road Less Travelled a freeing experience? www.highwayjam.co.za www.facebook.com/HeartBeatsSA www.facebook.com/MusicalMuseDevelopment soundcloud.com/heartbeatssa iTunes - Heart-Beats SA Music Industry podcast Visit www.musicalmuse.co.za www.instagram.com/mijaelle twitter - @Mijaelle
