Just a few weeks ago, it seemed like Sarepta had weathered a spate of bad news, after two patients died from liver injuries from its Duchenne muscular dystrophy gene therapy Elevidys. Then came news of a third patient death. Last Wednesday, the company announced a major restructuring and 500-person layoff.  Then, in just a few days time, Sarepta Therapeutics went from enjoying a notable stock bump in response to that corporate update to its lowest price in nearly 10 years as it halts shipments of Elevidys. In addition to requesting the shipment hold, the FDA revoked the company's technology platform designation and paused all clinical trials for Sarepta's limb-girdle muscular dystrophy (LGMD) gene therapy. The turmoil was set in motion by media reports that a patient who received the LGMD treatment had died—a fact the company chose not to disclose during an investor call. In other news, the FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research gets a new director in biotech veteran George Tidmarsh, also an adjunct professor of pediatrics and neonatology at Stanford University's School of Medicine. Tidmarsh enters the agency at a time of mass layoffs as well as voluntary departures. Meanwhile, Replimmune and Roche suffer FDA rejections as therapies from Otsuka/Lundbeck and GSK fail to earn adcomm support, as the bar for acceptable controls and demonstrations of efficacy continue to change under FDA commissioner Marty Makary and CBER director Vinay Prasad.  Finally, Big Pharmas continue to pump billions into U.S. manufacturing, with Biogen and AstraZeneca joining the list of companies to have made such pledges, pledging $2 billion and $50 billion, respectively. These latest announcements come as President Donald Trump reiterates that pharma-specific tariffs of up to 200% could come as soon as Aug. 1.

What happens when inflation outpaces income, and how can real estate investors adapt before the breaking point hits?   In this thought-provoking episode, Angel welcomes Rich Neuharth and Moses Lucero to explore the often-overlooked emotional and strategic aspects of underwriting in a volatile economic landscape. As inflation surges and affordability concerns loom, this conversation unpacks how mindset, data, and creativity intertwine when making investment decisions. Rich and Moses open up about their struggles with rejection, finding the right mentors, and reframing failure as a learning opportunity.     [00:01 - 04:00] When Prices Outpace Paychecks Why inflation is increasingly unsustainable for the average household. The importance of anticipating economic tipping points when underwriting deals. How investors might need to prepare for a shift toward shared housing and resource consolidation.   [04:01 - 08:46] Rents, Rates, and Reckonings What rent control discussions in red states signal about the changing political landscape. How rising interest rates historically trigger regulatory intervention and potential recessions. The significance of learning from past economic cycles like the Great Depression and 2008 crisis.   [08:47 - 12:13] When Numbers Feel Like a Wall Why financial literacy barriers often stem from mindset blocks, not ability. The need to recognize and confront personal narratives that limit learning. How connection with the right teacher can reignite passion for difficult topics.   [12:14 - 16:49] Resets, Rejections, and Reality Checks How to emotionally recover from rejection and continue calling, underwriting, or analyzing deals. The importance of taking a break to reset instead of internalizing repeated failure. Why even the most seasoned professionals question their worth—and how to move past it.   [16:20 - 20:56] Leveling Up Through Curiosity and Collaboration How underwriters "gear up" by finding hidden value in overlooked properties. Why passion, community, and creativity are crucial tools for value investors. The significance of recognizing shared struggles, even when operating in different lanes of a business.     Connect with Rich:   https://www.linkedin.com/in/realmindsetrich   Connect with Moses:   https://www.linkedin.com/in/moses-lucero-9026b220b/     Key Quotes:   “It's not how much you are learning, it's about who you're learning it from.” - Moses Lucero   “You're going to die and get kicked off the horse more times than you're gonna win—but let me tell you, the wins are real good.” - Rich Neuharth     Visit sponsorcloud.io/contact today and unlock $2,000 of free services exclusively for REI Rocks community members! TALK TO ME, TEXT ITThe digital world continues to shock and surprise us as technology evolves faster than we can comprehend. Today we dive into three remarkable stories that showcase both the wonder and concern surrounding artificial intelligence and online commerce. What would you do if hundreds of Amazon packages suddenly appeared at your doorstep—packages you never ordered? A California woman lived this nightmare when a Chinese seller listed her home as their return address. For over a year, packages containing ill-fitting car seat covers piled chest-high in her driveway, preventing her from parking her car. Despite multiple complaints, Amazon initially offered little help, even suggesting she was responsible for handling the unwanted deliveries herself. Only after media attention did the company finally step in to resolve the situation. This cautionary tale highlights the real-world consequences when online systems fail.Meanwhile, the music world faces its own technological disruption. A supposedly new rock band called "The Velvet Sundown" amassed over a million monthly listeners on Spotify with their 60s-inspired sound. Their hit song even topped Spotify's viral charts—but there was just one problem: neither the band nor its members actually exist. Everything, from the musicians to the music itself, was entirely AI-generated. Fans eventually noticed oddities in the promotional images, including unnaturally smooth skin textures and anatomically incorrect hands. This revelation raises profound questions about authenticity in creative arts and what constitutes "real" music in an AI-saturated future. We also discuss a cringe-worthy job rejection email where the employer accidentally included the AI prompt instructions before the actual message. This embarrassing oversight reveals how companies increasingly rely on automation for communication without proper human oversight. The question becomes: as AI continues to permeate our daily lives, where do we draw the line between helpful automation and lost human connection? What other aspects of our world are being quietly transformed by algorithms? Colin shares his powerful journey from avoiding sales entirely to embracing it as a vehicle for freedom, purpose, and service. You'll hear how he overcame the fear of rejection, stopped giving his services away for free, and discovered how sales can be one of the most selfless things you do when done with heart.Whether you're a coach, creative, or just someone who wants to feel more empowered asking for what you want in life, this conversation will give you the tools to stop fearing sales—and start seeing it as a way to help others. Listen now and discover how changing your mindset around selling can transform your business, your confidence, and your life. ------------------------------------------------------------- In this engaging episode of Shrink for the Shy Guy, Dr. Aziz is joined by Colin Yearwood, a sales expert who helps coaches, consultants, and entrepreneurs grow their businesses by mastering the skill of sales. Colin shares his fascinating journey from hating sales to embracing it as one of the most important tools for helping others—and for creating a life of freedom and purpose. Are You Afraid of Selling? You're Not Alone For many, the thought of selling is fraught with fear and discomfort. Colin confesses that he used to despise selling, even going so far as to give away his services for free. But that changed when a mentor pushed him to confront his resistance. He learned that selling isn't about convincing or manipulating others—it's about serving and guiding people to the resources they need to improve their lives. Why Selling Can Be a Force for Good Colin explains that selling isn't about pushing products or services on people who don't need them. Instead, it's about helping others get the solutions they're looking for—solutions that could make a meaningful difference in their lives. He says, "Selling is one of the best things you can do if you want to make a difference in the world." Through sales, you can reframe people's thinking, offer them clarity, and help them bridge the gap between where they are and where they want to be. The Key to Sales: Confidence and Detachment One of the core lessons Colin teaches is the importance of being unattached to the outcome of a sales conversation. He encourages people to shift from a place of neediness—where the focus is all on getting the sale—to a place of serving, where the focus is on genuinely helping the person you're talking to. This mindset shift not only makes you more confident, but it also makes the sales process more authentic and less stressful. The Real Story Behind Rejection A common fear in sales (and life) is the fear of rejection. Many people take it personally when someone says no. Colin dispels this myth by reminding us that rejection isn't about you—it's about the offer. He explains, "They're not saying no to you. They're saying no to the offer, not the person." This shift in perspective can make a huge difference in how you approach sales conversations and navigate the inevitable no's. What Mindset Helps You Succeed in Sales? Colin shares that his mindset going into any sales conversation is one of curiosity, empathy, and openness. Instead of focusing solely on closing the deal, he focuses on understanding the person he's talking to—what their needs are, what their challenges are, and how he can help them overcome them. This approach leads to better sales outcomes and deeper connections with potential clients. Sales Is Just Another Way to Build Connections At the heart of sales is connection. Colin points out that the best salespeople are those who approach every conversation with an open heart and a genuine interest in helping others. This means showing up authentically, being willing to listen, and not getting caught up in the fear of rejection or the need to make a sale. When you focus on connection, the sales process becomes much more natural—and far less intimidating. Takeaways: The Power of Sales and Service For anyone struggling with the fear of selling or worrying that they're being “too pushy,” Colin's advice is simple but profound: "Selling is about service. It's about helping people get what they need." Garth Heckman The David Alliance TDAgiantSlayer@Gmail.com    Im gonna bring the Jesus Hammer! Garth Heckman Ryan     What do you put your stock in? Look if I knew back in 1983 that for every $1000 in Microsoft would end up being 3 million dollars… I would have put stock into Microsoft… but who would have believed in that years ago… I think I learned a lesson and I did put a chunk into Bitcoin and it is doing extremely well… but here is the point -  Some people put more stock in peoples rejection then in the affirmation of God in their life. That doesn't even make sense… but we do it. WE GIVE MORE CREDIT TO PEOPLES OPINIONS AND REJECTIONS THAT WE DO IN WHAT GOD SAYS IN HIS WORD. You know what that really is right? Its calling God a liar. You are saying… I don't believe you God, but I do believe the media, the work place, the current of peer pressure…      Faith comes by hearing so you if you fill your head with medical science or witch craft of whatever, then that is what you have faith in. Todays major obstacle is that we have non stop input from a thousand voices every day… every day… every day. Truly when I was a kid I had the voices of my teachers, my sisters, my parents and about 8 close friends… those were the only people I put some stock in… and not a lot of stock in my teachers as I got older. On my phone everyone is an expert… literally by education, resume, popularity - however you qualify it… experts everywhere buy the thousands.  I officiated a wedding 10 years ago… very wealthy couple… they had one reception for adults, with a live band that played at the Dakota club here in Twin Cities… amazing food, and beautiful decor…  But they had another whole reception for kids. Candy bar, ice cream bar, hot dogs, cheese burgers, Fries, chicken nuggets… milk shakes, rooter fountain… And basically no supervision. Just a band for kids… it was mayhem.  Thats what social media is like today… no supervision and nothing but crap.    Romans 10:17 faith cometh by hearing and by hearing the word of God… What is the key word in this verse? Faith? Word of God? Hearing? NOPE… its cometh… meaning it is a process over time. It doesn't just happen when you hear… you feed your mind again and again what ever you feed it… will surely come.    Every choice you make is making you! But way before that choice there was a voice. Be careful who you listen too… for it surely will cometh!
