Things discussed: Hockey: They stuck to the process. Portillo was magnificent vs Penn State. Also Colgate. Get a regional in Toledo? Craig reached out to some people. It could happen. Spring ball: Lots of guys out. Watching CB, watching the OL. You're not going to see what they've come up with to use Donovan Edwards. Lots of young guys at different positions have an opportunity to play with so many injuries. Guys out: Nugent, Henderson, Colson, Corum, Hinton. Players are saying watch Ernest Haussmann. Craig: Partridge is a lot better linebacker coach than Helow. Guys poised to get a lot better: McGregor, Colson, Grant. Stewart package, Harrell package. Pass rush last year was terrible. Are they going to have a hybrid this year? LB depth last year made it impossible because Barrett was playing LB. Jadyn Davis effect? Sam is in Charlotte because every receiver in a 300 mile radius has a crystal ball to Michigan because they heard that's where Davis wants to play.
Hour 1: Steve and Maddy take your calls on what the Bills should do at LB.
Now that #54 is back in the fold, several key questions remain as the Seahawks are now just a month away from the NFL draft. **Was this move more about football or nostalgia? **How much does Wagner have left in the tank, and how will the Seahawks deploy him? **With Wagner joining Devin Bush, where do they go from here at the LB position? I'll give you some of my favorite draft prospects that still fit. **What does the team do now? There's no salary cap space left..... or is there? **Update on Jalen Carter, is public perception about him changing? Do you feel differently about him being the pick at #5 now that his legal issues are behind him? --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/seahawksforever-danviens/message
Ryan Rowland-Smith and Brock compare Bobby's return to the Seahawks to how Griffey returned to the Mariners in 2009 and what it does to a clubhouse, the future of the team (especially in the draft) and also knowing when it's time to hang up the cleats. Brock's 'Blue 88' answers if the Hawks will still be looking at LB in the draft, who Quandre Diggs will start recruiting next, and what's to expect from this week's Pro Day visits. In this episode, Joe and Daniel discuss the ins and outs of the Zone Blitz, how they fit into your scheme, and a method for game planning Zone Blitzes for your next opponent.

What do we think of Cole Holcomb as a new inside linebacker for the Steelers? The guys checked out the good and bad with the new LB. HOF Steelers insider Ed Bouchette joined the show. Ed commented on the Steelers moves so far in free agency. Ed likes the decision to bring back Damontae Kazee even if it means departing with Terrell Edmunds. Ed talked about Kevin Dotson being in the doghouse and that he wants to see the left side of the line overhauled. Ed said the Steelers certainly need to improve on inside linebacker, but doesn't think it gets addressed in the first two rounds. Ed thinks a receiver is attractive early in the draft. Ed reminded the guys that Andy Weidl probably had a lot of say in the free agent signings because he's the bigger football guy, with Omar Khan being the star administrator.

I don't do this too often but I'm featuring this week's Chinese Sayings Podcast in the CHP feed. Firstly this is a tale rooted in 7th century BC Spring and Autumn history. But also, just in case you never heard of this other show of mine, I wanted to introduce it to you. You can find the Chinese Sayings Podcast wherever you find the CHP. Here comes one more textbook chengyu from the Spring and Autumn Period, as written by Master Zuo Qiuming 左丘明 himself: 厉兵秣马 Lì Bīng Mò Mǎ. Lots of marquee names from that exciting time, including Duke Mu of Qin and Duke Wen of Jin. Be sure to check out the teacup.media website for a handy downloadable cheat sheet listing all the Chinese names and terms. This one has a fair number of characters and place names. The kind of inter-kingdom rivalries that were one of the hallmarks of the Eastern Zhou are front and center in this 7th-century BC tale. This is a good Chinese Saying that has a few useful applications in real life. Thanks for listening. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Here comes one more textbook chengyu from the Spring and Autumn Period, as written by Master Zuo Qiuming 左丘明 himself. 厉兵秣马 Lì Bīng Mò Mǎ. Lots of marquee names from that exciting time, including Duke Mu of Qin and Duke Wen of Jin. Be sure to check the website for a handy downloadable cheat sheet listing all the Chinese names and terms.
Best NFL Free Agents - The 2023 NFL Free Agent class is quality in some spots, and totally barren in others. RB, S and LB are loaded, while you're team will need some good luck in finding value among the pass rushers and CBs. Josh Norris, Hayden Winks and Sosa go position by position to name a few of their favorites, and a value add in each spot.
News and Notes Vikings released LB Eric Kendricks. Kendricks was in the final season of a five-year extension, but the Vikings opted to move on from the 31-year-old. Rams released LB Bobby Wagner, Wagner's release will free up at least $5 million in cap savings. The Titans released LB Zach Cunningham. Cunningham's release saves Tennessee $8.9 million while incurring a $4.5 million dead cap hit. They also released EDGE Bud Dupree ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Chiefs are expected to release EDGE Frank Clark. The Rams are expected to release EDGE Leonard Floyd. Per ESPN's Field Yates, releasing Floyd would clear $3 million in cap space if done now. However, with a post-June 1 designation, they could spread out his dead money over two seasons and create $15 million in 2023 cap space. The Rams will reportedly look to trade Floyd if possible, but his time with the team appears to have come to an end. Commanders released DB Bobby McCain. McCain's release saves the team $4.42 million, with ESPN's Adam Schefter reporting that McCain was the "odd man out" with the Commanders having young talent in the secondary. The Athletic's Jeff Howe reports a trade of Rams CB Jalen Ramsey to Dallas is "picking up steam in league circles." The Athletic's Nate Taylor writes Chiefs DT Chris Jones wants an extension "that will make him at least the second-highest player at his position." As expected, the Commanders assigned the franchise tag to DL Daron Payne. The Athletic's Joe Buscaglia writes he expects the Bills to "put their best foot forward" to retain LB Tremaine Edmunds. The Score's Jordan Schultz reports Colts LB Bobby Okereke "has a significant market" and could sign a deal "in the $12-14M range, per season." The Athletic's Daniel Popper writes it is "unlikely" the Chargers will exercise Kenneth Murray's fifth-year option. Big Shoutout to MFL for the move towards true position with the IDP position designations. Main Event Combine Review Linebackers Who was an LB who stood out to you and helped their draft stock? With NFL free agency right around the corner, Josh and Adam gather in the Sode Shack for a second time this week to preview the top IDPs who could end up on new teams. A loaded LB class with the likes of Bobby Wagner, Tremaine Edmunds, and Lavonte David could completely rearrange rankings as we head into 2023. Top safeties like Chauncey Gardner-Johnson and Jordan Poyer are sure to secure big paydays, but what does moving do for their IDP stock? And despite it being a weak DL class, there are some gems like Zach Allen and Javon Hargrave who could move the needle for fantasy. Josh and Adam take stock of the landscape and offer up some of their favorite landing spots for the top guys at each position. If you'd like to support the show, you can do so over at TheIDPShow.com.
