We talk about Corporate America, Hallmark of leadership, showing up as yourself, Authenticity as a super power, showing up as who you are, a reawakening, authentic inclusion and diversity understanding, and the question of... "should I stay or should I go?“ Vicki Znavor rose from typing and filing clerk with only a high school diploma to being a highly recognized Human Resources top executive. She did all that while raising a family and earning her college and MBA degrees. And now she is teaching some of the most critical lessons she discovered about being Authentic in the workplace to others with her new book Authenticity Reawakened: The Path To OWNING Your Life's Story and Fulfilling Your Purpose. Her years in the corporate sector encompassed such leading companies as Sara Lee Corporation, Northern Trust and CIBC Bank USA, previously known as The PrivateBank. At Sara Lee, she focused on managing the impact of massive change on more than 140,000 employees worldwide. Her years in the corporate sector embraced an impressive array of roles with major impact on the lives of people she served and supported. Today, she is here to talk about how YOU can tap into your own Authenticity to learn how to communicate honestly, frankly, and effectively in ways that will open doors for you, prevent conflict or resolve it, help you ask for what you are worth, and make you feel more comfortable in your own skin. She also reveals how this process of discovering your core values can also lead to finding your purpose in life. Website. Facebook. Instagram. LinkedIn. Showing up in the world in a way that reflects you to the extent you choose. Know yourself! Who you are and what is important to you. If you are asking… Should I go... it's probably time to start heading that way. As Vicki says, you can't control everything that happens, but you can control how you show up to handle it. On this show we talked with Vicki, President of the Bob Beck Legacy Association and current caretaker of the website, www.bobbeck.com, and also the caretaker of the last of Bob's possessions – all his papers from birth to death. Vicki represents a group of people that are dedicated to carrying on the legacy and work of Dr. Robert C. Beck, D.Sc. Dr. Bob Beck was a scientist and a researcher who came upon some pretty incredible discoveries about how magnetism and electricity (aka micropulsing) help the body to become healthier. Remember none of these protocols do anything to disease. They can't cure or heal any disease that would be making a medical claim. As Vicki and I discussed on the show is that these divices help remove the obsticles that prevent your immune system from functioning properly. When you build the energy and immunity of the body that's where we can start to make some magic happen. Again none of these devices (or anything/product) we talk about on the show can heal or cure anything. Because we're bombarded daily by toxicity, chemicals, stress, EMF and a poor diet, these are major stressors on the immune system. What we're trying to do on our show is point out that these things do exist and they weaken immunity. When we can get a handle on all the things that prevent the immune system from functioning properly, then we can take the immune system out for a spin and see what it'll do! The Bob Beck Protocol is as follows... Micropulsing Magnetic Pulsing Ionic Colloidal Silver Ozonating Water Here are a couple videos that I started watching back in the day. He had no children, so there is no family to carry on the memory of all he did and who he was. Vicki, the Association's caretaker, says that herself, and the other Association members, are grateful to be able to play a part in sharing Bob's work with you as a tribute to who he was—a physicist with a wide range of accomplishments, an inventor who had a passion to apply technology for the betterment of mankind, and a man with many interests. A true renaissance man who was coined “the People's scientist.” Vicki's own background was previously working for a manufacturer as their study coordinator and government correspondent. This week on the Lady Leadership podcast I sat down with Vicki Macdermid from Equilead to to talk leadership and connection through the insights of horses. As an avid horse lover and horse rider this was a chat that I was really looking forward to. After spending about 30 years working in a corporate career in many leadership roles and being a partner of a large business called Pitch Partners plus a TedX speaker. Vicki has launched her new business combining her love of horses and leadership. After attending a number of courses on leadership herself over the years, Vicki had the insight that learning comes from doing and participating not sitting in a classroom. Plus after spending time with horses she saw that the best outcomes for horse and human come from connection. When their is real connection in what we are trying to achieve together. As such, Vicki runs courses that involve teams working on the ground with a horse to achieve an outcome . As Vicki says the horse does not care is you are the Managing Director! Vicki is their to help facilitate the interaction and provide insight and through the horses reactions give feedback as to what the horse is saying with its behaviour. I think you are going to find this chat very insightful. Sometimes, we find ourselves in situations where we haven't much choice. Our heart tells us one thing while our mind tells us something entirely different. And Sometimes…We're reluctant to admit that the person silently hiding within us is a much better version of our self than we ever realized was possible. That's what Veasey learned, the hard way, after her husband died in 2017. That's when she became her parents' caregiver 24/7, and they both had Alzheimer's. This is a truthful, personal story that bares the author's soul as she struggled to find acceptance, forgiveness, and peace. You'll shed a few tears and laugh along the way. But never forget that this could be you one day, a reluctant caregiver for a loved one. As Vicki states in the introduction, “No one should enter this world of caregiving blindsided, without some idea of what to expect.” Veasey takes us on a behind the scenes tour of the emotional struggles, relentless stress, and daily frustrations she contended with as her parents' caregiver, while simultaneously trying to come to grips with the reality of recent widowhood. Despite everything, the author never gave up, even though there were many times when she was tempted to. Along the way, Vicki learned more about herself and her relationship with God; an enlightenment that helped her to accept the new chapter of her life as a widow and full-time caregiver. Her story is both spellbinding and honest, passionate and raw. Eventually, she was able to look herself in the mirror at night and say, “I'm an amazing caregiver!” The author doesn't mince her words regarding her concerns about widowhood, quality of care for our loved ones afflicted with Alzheimer's and dementia, the quality of life for dementia caregivers, and the need for short-term respite care so caregivers can take a much-needed break from caregiving once in a while. Scattered throughout the book are Caregiving Tips from the Heart. These invaluable bits of information, thirty-six in all, are provided to assist Alzheimer's and dementia caregivers. This book also includes an extensive bibliography and additional resource materials. Someday, you may find yourself a widow, widower, or dementia caregiver, are you prepared? Veasey wasn't at the time, but she learned the hard way how to make the best of a bad situation and she learned so much about herself in the process. And, rather than turn her back on the experience, she's embraced it by becoming an advocate for Alzheimer's, dementia, and widowhood. “No one but another widow can understand what a widow goes through. And no one but another caregiver knows what a dementia caregiver goes through.”
For the latest podcast SWH! caught up with writer Vicki Jarrett to talk about her latest novel Always North (out now, published by Unsung Stories). As Vicki explains, it's a story that has been over 10 years in the telling from the inspiration of an unforgettable video to final publication. She discusses the themes and ideas which are at the book's heart, the vital role of her central character and the moral dilemmas she faces, the coincidental yet prescient timing of publication, the speculative writers who have inspired her, and a whole lot more.

Do you need more sleep because your child needs more sleep? Maybe this weeks guest can help.Vicki Dawson is the CEO of The Children’s Sleep Charity and helped write the Children and Young People’s Sleep Manifesto presented to the UK government, which argued among other things for quality sleep support to be available for all families and for sleep to be recognised as a vital component of mental health. Vicki was once a sleep deprived mum who struggled to get enough sleep at night and had no time to take a nap during the day. She realised how little help there is for people suffering from sleep deprivation or sleep issues with children. So Vicki decided to take things into her own hands and launched The Children’s Sleep Charity in 2012. Vicki explains the process of helping a parent who comes to the charity for advice. They usually discover the charity via social media or by word of mouth. The first step is to talk to a sleep practitioner who helps to identify the causes. Vicki stresses how key it is to understand the triggers causing the sleep issues before thinking about what strategies might work. Vicki discusses also how important is to find strategies that work for individual families and fits their parenting style and their schedule. As she says when people are sleep deprived, it’s often difficult to have the capacity to make massive changes. So it’s essential to come up with a plan that works for each individual family. Vicki shared some of the things she has learnt about helping children develop a more structured sleep pattern. Vicki suggested that parents consider the time their child naturally falls asleep and use that time as a starting point. So, if your child falls asleep at 11 pm, put them to bed at 11 pm. Then, gradually move the bedtime to a more appropriate time to help strengthen and readjust your child’s natural body clock. Also, try and make sure that you wake up your child at the same time every morning (including weekends!). Developing this habit will help to strengthen their body clock, resulting in a more structured sleep routine. Vicki emphasised the importance of investigating the hour before bedtime in close detail and offers some practical ideas for that pre-bedtime routine. These include encouraging children to eat foods that induce sleep, using relaxing and therapeutic play activities like lego, drawing and play dough to help promote a sense of calm, using a warm bath to foster relaxation and the obvious one getting rid of ALL screens. As Vicki says many parents feel like others are judging them when they talk about their child’s sleep issues as well as offering unhelpful comments to make them feel like bad parents. The Children’s Sleep Charity provides the support sleep-deprived parents need without judgment. Visit www.journeyskills.com for more information and resources to help lead your child with additional needs toward greater independence.
