Richard Epstein discusses federal district court judges defying presidential orders, attributing it to a breakdown of trust and the president's "robust view of executive power" that disregards established procedures and precedents. He explains that judges may engage in "passive resistance" or "cheating in self-defense" when they perceive the president acting for political reasons or abusing power, such as in budget cuts or dismissals. Epstein also links this distrust to gerrymandering and increasing political polarization 1932 FDR IN ALBANY

Millions of people are mourning the death of conservative activist and co-founder of Turning Point USA, Charlie Kirk. He is being remembered by many as someone who inspired thousands of young conservatives to become politically active and proudly express their views. The day after Kirk was assassinated, FOX News Rundown host Dave Anthony spoke with Campus Reform reporter Emily Sturge and Leadership Institute regional field recruiter Cooper Brown, two young Americans who admired Kirk and worked with him. Brown was at the Utah Valley University event on Wednesday and was just feet away when Kirk was shot. A key difficulty is accounting for uranium, as the initial amount is unknown and covert production may have occurred. If Iran fails to comply, Germany, the UK, France, and the US might impose more sanctions, potentially prompting Iran to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

Economists are united in pointing out that tariffs on foreign goods are really nothing more than a tax on American consumers, but what fewer people understand is that Trump's policy on trade is not really about revenue or even about economic protectionism. Matt Kibbe is joined by Phil Magness, senior fellow at the Independent Institute, to explain how the tariffs represent a unilateral expansion of executive power that is now being challenged by the courts. It's important to remember that Trump will not be president forever, and sooner or later, a Democrat is going to occupy the White House again. At that point, Democrats will be more than happy to use these expanded executive powers in ways that will horrify Trump's base.

What if choosing between language and executive functioning for your students wasn't an "either/or" decision? And how can we effectively balance academic content with broader cognitive skills? It's a complex challenge, and the answer isn't always obvious. In this episode, I share commentary and a clip of my conversation with Jill Fahy, where we discuss the impact of executive functioning skills on the college experience. Jill is a licensed speech-language pathologist and professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Eastern Illinois University. She is also the co-director of the Autism Center and Director of the Students with Autism Transitional Education Program, where she develops and delivers transitional programming in social skills and executive functions for college students. In this episode, you'll discover:✅ Should we work on language or executive functioning first? The answer isn't straightforward.✅ Balancing academic content areas and broader cognitive skills: Why both parents and professionals need to learn about executive functioning as it relates to their context. ✅ Educating the public on cognition and evidence-based practices, and why it's so easy for vulnerable individuals to grasp on to pseudoscience. ✅ How to use “asset stacking” to address the need to work on multiple interconnected areas at once (e.g., content area skills, language, cognition). You can connect with Jill via email at jkfahy@eiu.edu. Jon Herold marks four years since his first Devolution Power Hour by diving straight into the tangled web of current events and executive orders shaping the present moment. He unpacks Trump's continuation of EO 13848 on foreign election interference and the looming 180-day review of EO 13961 on national continuity policy, speculating on what might unfold by September 15. From there, he analyzes Trump's contradictory Truth Social post on Israel's strike in Qatar, highlighting the narrative warfare at play. The episode then covers Poland invoking NATO's Article 4 after downing drones, Trump's trade overtures with India, Missouri's redistricting win, and controversies around making a Ukrainian murder victim a symbolic martyr in America. Herold also touches on Fauci's email deletions, Supreme Court fights over tariffs and foreign aid, Tulsi Gabbard's unusual NSA report recall, and new strategies against childhood disease. Packed with analysis, skepticism, and a touch of humor, this episode captures the ongoing battle between truth, power, and perception.
A fast-moving lie can do more damage to a company's reputation than a slow, careful truth can fix. Executives who think fake news is just a political problem are underestimating its reach and cost. Patrick Haack, professor of strategy and responsible management at HEC Lausanne, explains why traditional responses like silence or fact-checking aren't enough. He outlines what companies should be doing instead: building credibility in advance, monitoring for signs of virality, and enlisting outside allies to push back. It's a playbook designed not just to correct the record but to protect trust before it erodes. Haack is coauthor of the HBR article “How to Counter Fake News.”
