Seasons of anxiety and depression can leave us feeling weak, broken, and even distant from God. In fact, suffering can be the very place where our roots in Christ grow deeper. Jesus calls us to abide in Him as the true Vine. Just as branches cannot bear fruit without staying connected to the vine, neither can we thrive apart from Him. Prayer and Scripture become lifelines—keeping us grounded in His peace, truth, and strength when the world feels overwhelming. Like trees in winter whose roots grow deeper underground, our times of hardship can press us closer to the heart of God. Instead of yielding to despair or turning to substitutes for comfort, we can remain connected to Christ, the only source of lasting life and peace. In Him, we find the strength to endure, the hope to carry on, and the joy of knowing we are never alone. Today's Bible Reading: "Abide in me, and I in you. Few things test our faith more deeply than unanswered prayer. As our daily prayer and devotional remind us, when we pray with earnest hearts but don’t see change, it’s easy to feel forgotten by God. Discouragement, frustration, or even anger can creep in. Yet Isaiah 65:24 assures us that God not only hears us—He is already at work before we finish asking. Lynette Kittle reminds us that when answers feel delayed, we’re invited to draw closer to God rather than pull away. Scripture encourages us to pause and ask searching questions: Are we harboring unconfessed sin? Are we engaged in habits or influences that grieve the Holy Spirit? For many, autumn is a season of beauty—colorful leaves, crisp air, and cozy traditions. But as our daily prayer and devotional remind us, for others, the season can reopen deep wounds of grief. Grief is not something to hide or feel ashamed of—it is the natural expression of love for someone who is no longer here. Jesus’ words in the Beatitudes assure us that those who mourn are not abandoned in their pain. Instead, God promises His presence and comfort in the midst of sorrow. The Lord draws near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 147:3) and faithfully carries us when grief feels unbearable. Over time, He not only comforts us but also equips us to comfort others in their mourning (2 Corinthians 1:3-5). Decision-making can feel overwhelming. While most Roblox gamers are busy with worldly pursuits such as “dressing to impress” or “stealing a brainrot,” MinisterMatt and his Robloxian Children of God Ministries are using the popular gaming platform to spread the word of God. We review an hour-long Christian narrative special created entirely in Roblox called STANDING WITH GOD, subdivided into three episodes: “Challenges,” “Trials and Faith,” and “I Believe.” The story follows a college-aged protagonist named John as he navigates the conflicts between personal faith and a secular world. Filmed entirely on location in the popular Roblox RP server Brookhaven, John begins his first term at Brookhaven School and immediately struggles with self-doubt. His new friends accept his faith but treat it as a curiosity, accusing him of being “abnormal” for requesting wine-free drinks at parties instead of getting drunk like the rest. Teachers at the school target Christian students by “preaching” pro-evolution lectures that are explicitly anti-God, while the looming threat of LGBTQ acceptance encroaches on everyday life, as rainbow-haired men go on dates with each other in full public view. What's a Robloxian Christian to do? John seeks guidance from an older Christian mentor, a famous pastor whose program he follows on television. But more significant than the actual plot of STANDING WITH GOD (which is admittedly hard to follow thanks to the static Roblox animation and the unrelenting monotone of robot voices) is the sheer fact that a group of internet believers banded together to create a feature-length production using only the resources immediately available to them. The boundaries between film and performance, roleplay and acting, blur as the conventional movie set is digitized, and actors log into location (the RP server) in costume (avatar) to perform film ministry. STANDING WITH GOD proves that, just like “IRL” film production, it's not the size of your Robux budget but the urgency of your message that makes for truly passionate filmmaking. Ibelieve what we're talking about today is one of the most important things wecan talk about in the Bible and especially in the New Testament, and that is theforgiveness of sins. The forgiveness of sins, and knowing that we'reforgiven. Yesterday we started looking at Ephesians 1:7, and there it tells usthat “in Him we have redemption through His blood”. We explained thatyesterday. Redemption through the blood. How His blood has redeemed us, has setus free from our sin, has paid the ransom price to a holy God so that we do nothave to stand guilty before Him. And then next He says, "And theforgiveness of sins according to the riches of His grace."  Oneof the greatest feelings I have ever had emotionally, mentally, spiritually, inany way, humanly speaking, was the day that I knew I was forgiven for my sins.February 21st, 1971. God didn't hold my sins against me any longer. The guiltwas gone. The darkness was gone, and the burden was lifted. In the NewTestament, the forgiveness of sins is the central theme of the gospel message. Itemphasizes God's mercy and His grace through Jesus Christ. It addresses thefact that man is a sinner. That man is a fallen creature. Man is separated fromGod. Man is alienated from God. We're separated from God by our sin. And “thewages of sin is death”. The payment for sin is death. But my friend, “thegift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23).  Goddoesn't forgive us because He loves us. Many people have that mistaken idea,but that's not true. God forgives us because He sent His Son to die in ourplace for our sin. Jesus took the penalty for our sin. He took the guilt. Hetook the shame. He took all of it, the death of our sin upon Himself and diedin our place in a substitutionary way. Our sin was imputed to Him and Hisrighteousness has been imputed to us, and therefore being justified by faith wehave peace with God (Romans 5:1). The word justified means now we have a rightstanding before a holy God. We're no longer guilty before a holy God.  Theonly way to be forgiven is to first recognize that you need to be forgiven.That you find yourself under the weight and guilt of your sin and you have noway to deal with that. Going to church, living a good life, doing good deeds,doing anything you're trying to do to remove your sin. The sacraments,religion, nothing can remove your sin. No priest, no man on earth can removeyour sin, my friend. Only one person can, and that is Jesus Christ through thedeath, His death on the cross of Calvary. And when we acknowledge that, then wecan cry out to God for forgiveness in repentance of our sins. Atthat point, we express our faith and trust in what Jesus did for us on thecross. And that's when the moment of salvation takes place and we are forgiven becausewe have a Savior, Jesus Christ. There is no other way (Acts 4:12). Oh, nogreater experience than to be forgiven. And that's the love God has for us(John 3:16). He sent His Son to die for us. Love is expressed in the fact thatHe does forgive us through His mercy and the grace of Jesus Christ on the cross. That'swhy when we forgive those who trespass against us those who hurt us we areexpressing not our love because our love is pretty faulty at best, but we'reexpressing God's love because God is love and God only can forgive sin and myfriend you have experienced that, it's then for Christ's sake that you canforgive others, not that they deserve it any more than we deserved it.  Well,this is a great truth.
