To combat this year's hikes, Switcher.ie has put together some inflation-busting, money-saving tips, and our expert, Eoin Clarke, comments on how to futureproof against annual price rises. 1. Bundle your broadband, TV & mobile Combine your broadband, TV and mobile services into a single package to reduce your monthly expenses. Many Irish households rely on streaming services like Sky Stream and Netflix for sports and entertainment. Bundling broadband & TV, and adding your mobile SIM-only plan can lead to significant savings compared to individual plans. 2. Shop around to find the best deals Plan ahead and start your broadband bargain hunt before your contract ends. Use comparison websites with an eircode checker to quickly find the cheapest options in your location. Ensure you factor in the price after the promotional period, as well as crucial features such as speed, contract duration, and any rewards or perks. 3. Haggle for a better deal Tell your provider you're thinking of leaving before jumping, and they may just pull out all the stops to keep you. Use comparison sites to find cheaper options and ask for a price match. You might get a lower price, but it's not guaranteed. 4. Keep it SIMple Save money with a SIM-only deal. If your phone contract is up and you're still happy with your phone, switch to SIM-only. Unlike bill-pay contracts, which include the cost of a new device, SIM-only deals just charge for calls, texts, and data, offering huge savings and flexible, shorter contracts. 5. Grab a multi-cover discount Use a multi-gadget cover to save money on gadget insurance. If you've got a bunch of gadgets, like an iPhone, tablet, laptop, and smartwatch, combine cover for up to 15% off. Only insure new gadgets and check your home insurance first to avoid doubling up. Eoin Clarke, Telecoms Expert at Switcher.ie comments: "While energy and food prices have stabilised, households will face a wave of price hikes on April Fools Day. Once again, some telecom giants are pushing up prices over the rate of inflation, with some SIM-only contracts surging by over 10%. The good news is that it's a buyer's market for broadband and mobile users right now. Providers are fighting for new customers, leading to some healthy discounts and great perks. Our advice is to make the most of this clamour by switching providers when your contract ends. The best deals are always on offer to newcomers, so take advantage of any introductory discounts, welcome rewards or freebies. The cheapest deal isn't always the best value in the long term, so compare contract length and 'thereafter' price once your discount ends. If peace of mind is more important, you may prefer to lock into a deal with long-term savings, or if you're on the hunt for a SIM-only plan, seek a 'price for life' deal."

Have a love-hate relationship with avocados? If so, I don't blame you – I do too. Some days, I'm delighted to cut open an avocado and see a smooth blemish-free interior to enjoy. On other days, I'm utterly disappointed when I cut open one and find a blemished brown and ugly interior, and have to toss it away in disgust. Such a waste of money! But with rising food and gas prices, it's now even more important to know how to stretch our food dollars and make what we buy last longer. And I've discovered ways now to minimize those ‘not-so-good' avocado days. So, let's talk avocados. In this episode, I'll show you how to wisely pick avocados from the store, then how to best store them at home. This way, you can enjoy them more, with less stress and worry about having to use them up fast before they spoil. If you've never tried an avocado before, make sure to listen in too, so you can learn from the get-go how to best buy and store them, and save money and needless frustration in your plant-based diet transition! Struggling to save money? Ed McKnight has a few tips that are backed by science that should help with your finances. Mental accounting Having rules of thumb (like 50% of spending to needs, 30% to wants and 20% to savings) actually works. It also helps people save more, especially if you are using different bank accounts (e.g. a needs account. A wants account. A savings account). Big goals vs small goals People save 82% more if you say "I'll just focus on savings $100 a week." Rather than "I want to save $5k". The Save More Tomorrow approach This method takes half of an employee's pay increase and adds it to a savings account, repeating every time they get a pay rise. During this study people went from saving 3.5% of their pay to 13.6%. LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Welcome to Hawaii Vacation Connection's podcast! I'm Bruce Fisher, your tourism guide and Hawaii expert. As someone who has planned Hawaii vacations for multiple years I am here to show you how to plan your Hawaii trip correctly. Today, we're talking about my favorite topic: Share simple ways to save money during your Hawaii vacation. Let's dive in! Secure Your Flight Deals with Our Help Then Pay in InstallmentsDuring the early months of the year airfare to Hawaii usually hits its lowest prices. Many airlines launch special discounts during this period and you can actually see them taking effect now. Our Hawaii Aloha Travel team secures current low airfare deals for you and lets you pay for the package in monthly installments. This method lets families and others book their future trips ahead of time with better deals. 2. Oahu: Your Best-Value IslandOahu offers the best value when you want to save money. Why? More hotel selection: Your better odds of finding good hotel deals come from Waikiki's many hotel choices.Limited Airbnb options: The state of Hawaii has put stricter rules on Airbnb rentals and Waikiki hosts about 90% of them on Oahu island. Airbnb properties no longer offer cheaper rates since hotel rates match or drop below Airbnb prices. Our condo rentals, including Airbnb units, let you experience the home-away-from-home feel while providing full kitchens for meal preparation. 3. Don't Obsess Over the Ocean ViewOcean views are incredible, but ask yourself: Most hotels in Waikiki charge more for rooms with ocean views than they do for rooms with city views. Choosing a lower-category room helps you save money since you won't spend much time in the hotel when you are out exploring. Besides getting amazing views you can save a lot of money when you stay at a hotel across the street. 4. Consider All-Inclusive or Breakfast BundlesPeople in Hawaii choose all-inclusive deals or add breakfast to their hotel booking because eating out costs too much. When you choose your meals this way you will know how much they will cost you. Our packages let you choose between eating every day and design your meal plan according to your tastes. When you add breakfast to your booking it helps you control your meal expenses at local restaurants. 5. Get Creative with FoodWhen your room has a cooking area make sure to use it regularly. Groceries and prepared foods from local spots can stretch your budget: Shop at Costco or local grocery stores: Yes, Hawaii has Costco! An Uber ride to the supermarket that costs $40 round trip saves you money when you stock up on supplies for a week.Check out farmers markets: You can buy fresh produce and special Hawaiian treats at local markets. You can discover local customs while finding good discounts through this activity.ABC Stores & Bento Boxes: You can find multiple ABC stores across Waikiki selling affordable bento boxes and sushi snacks. Fast food options in Hawaii that cost less than ten dollars give you a better dining deal than traditional restaurants.Eat & Drink Wisely: You are interested in drinking cocktails. Purchase your own alcohol and prepare drinks in your hotel room instead of spending money on bar prices. By making drinks at your room you save money on expensive bar prices.Thought about ways to spend less on vacation trips to Hawaii Ready to Plan Your Budget-Friendly Hawaii Getaway?Call my team and me at our office number 1-800-843-8771 or explore our website at Hawaii-aloha.com.
