Mixpak FM 076 comes from British DJ, producer and Rinse FM host Brackles. Having been on the station for an impressive five years, Brackles has become a Rinse staple both on the airwaves and on the label, with his debut album (Rinse presents Brackles) released back in 2012. It's no surprise his show has worked its way to a prime slot and lasted the test of time - his selection is eclectic but considered, drawing from the strands of British club music: UK funky, house, grime and garage all featuring prominently as well as the occasional rap, RnB or afropop sounds. His production & selection work to the same ethos - with influences from 2-step and house, the welcome feature of a sweet female vocal and of course, not forgetting that emotive Serani remix. His latest EP is the inaugural release for Manchester's Swing Ting, featuring MC Fox, who we were lucky to share the stage with at RBMA Carnival this year. His Mixpak FM stays true to the current UK house sound, with some familiar names from the world of bassline & UK funky.

Hailing from the German club scene this bass heavy collective is a creative alliance made up of London-born, Sri Lankan songwriter and front woman Sasha Perera alongside two beat freak multi-instrumentalists; Teuton Robot Koch and Tel-Aviv born Oren Gerlitz. The versatility of their music and sheer energy of their live performance has led the band on an unrelenting trail across 5 continents, playing everything from festivals to clubs, raves, squats, galleries and even impromptu Boombox parties in a Berlin underpass. To say that we're excited about seeing them over on our shores, would just be an understatement. Wild City #009 is everything we hoped it would be. A dusk-lit garage, bass and house session featuring tracks from UK bass heavyweights such as Shackleton, Dark Sky, Zomby and Brackles alongside alternate versions of a couple of well-known Jahcoozi jams. It also includes a choice selection from their BLNRB album titled Welcome To The Madhouse, a project that involved 22 Kenyan musicians, Jahcoozi, Modeselektor and Gebrueder Teichmann back in 2010. It's a highly enjoyable ride, partially thanks to the selection and African vibe which seamlessly fades in and out of the mix, but also thanks to the mixing style, which gives some of the transitions an almost hip-hop feel. Well, well, well... a couple of weeks after joining us in the studio with Brackles, Daedelus returns to our humble Manchester studio with a special friend in tow in the form of the MotherFucking Gaslamp Killer. Jonny Dub of Hoya Hoya kicks us off with some typical Hoya fatness before Daedelus digs out his UK purchases and spins us some scratchy vinyl. Gaslamp drops some ill and upfront shit from his iPhone while Illum Sphere gets a late train in to finish us off. MONSTER of a show, and a direct result of Hoya KILLING it at the Warehouse Project the night before. The only way is up, gentlemen.
