Welcome to the next episode of the midierror meets... interview series speaking to all kinds of people working in music and sound. In this episode, we're speaking with MELLE BROWN - a London born Producer, DJ, and Presenter known for her uplifting combination of Jazz, Neo Soul, and House. Melle went to The Brit School, and found a love of production making music for her theatrical classes. Moving into Music Technology, she released her first EP 'Blossom' which was played on 1XTRA before she even graduated! Melle worked at Warner Records for over two years and went on to be part of radio shows on RinseFM, NTS, and Represent Radio. Melle later got signed to influential DJ and Presenter Jamz Supernova's 'Future Bounce' label and released her 'Intersection EP' featuring Grammy nominated Tiana Major9 - which gained support from Elton John and Trevor Nelson. She was mentored by Fred Again and Kamille as part of the 'She Is The Music' programme, where she met Toddla T. Later on, her track 'Feel About You' - an unexpected collaboration with him and Annie Mac, won 'Best Dance Track of The Year' in the 2022 Billboard awards. Melle has played Printworks, Glastonbury, Boomtown, Fabric, Field Day and she'll be playing a number of festivals this year: She also heads the 'Mellody Agency' - a music business with community at its core. Bristol-based @k_means operates at the fringes of electronic music. It's not tempo and genre that unites their sound, but more an exploration of mood and texture underpinned by bass-heavy low ends and hypnotic rhythms. The Noods, Rinse FM and Kiosk Radio regular is also resident at Bristol's Psychotherapy Sessions and will debut at Dekmantel Festival where you should fully expect to be taken into plenty of unknown musical territory. It is the same with their mix for us this week - a wild trip into futuristic drum patterns and interplanetary sounds that melt the mind and contort the body. There is a constant push and pull between the organic and the synthetic with tribal percussion and warped vocals brushing up with bleeping synth modulations and experimental minimalism. It's a magnetic selection that's as much an imaginary movie soundtrack as it is a dance floor escape.
TECH CLUBBERS PODCAST W/ NOT OPERATED Since 2007, Berlin-based artist Not Operated ( formerly Erta Ale, aka DJ Fresh ) has been a prolific force in the techno scene. London-based and Rinse FM resident Alicia joins the series and offers us a glimpse into the vibrant ecologies of Terra Obscura, the experimental club night she runs alongside fellow series favorite Avsluta. A rare live recording from the multitalented musician, Alicia's set captures a dynamic and thoughtful soul at play, mapping cleverly between moments of shimmering suspension and blanketing bassweight, accumulating pressure with deliberate, veteran intensity. Solid ground, in the spirit of the captured evening, from which to leap into the night beyond. @aliciasteanson Artwork by Mei Oele - Boser Tritt.
For those who've been paying attention, Wes Baggaley isn't just another DJ—he's a selector who has meticulously explored the underground electronic landscape across Europe for many years. From the hallowed decks of Panoramabar to Frankfurt's seminal Robert Johnson and in the sweaty depths of Glastonbury's NYC Downlow, Baggaley has cultivated a reputation as a vinyl obsessive who treats records like a primary language. He's not one to pull punches either; in real life and on his Instagram, he offers a refreshing take on the absurdity of the state of the music world—from lamenting the current popularity of "garbage pop remixes" masquerading as "cool" and "underground," to poking fun at the disconnect between an artist's public persona and the commercial realities behind the 'scene'...there's definitely a reason Dave Clarke's FUSE is his favourite mix! Drawing from a deep well of experience—eight years on Rinse FM and residencies that span from London's Dalston Superstore at the most excellent queer house music party Bottom Heavy to the world's most revered underground spaces—Baggaley delivers a journey that's both intense and unpredictable. This mix captures the restless spirit of someone who refuses to be confined by genre boundaries. Dark ambient textures collide with driving techno, industrial edges spark against electro. It's a mix that reflects Baggaley's current Narr Radio remit, and it certainly refuses to sit still... Get ready for the next SPANDAU20 Mixtape drop featuring none other than @thc_dj!
Bogota-born, Berlin-based Tania Humeres Correa aka @thc_dj has perfected the art of high-energy sounds that get big room crowds close together. The Rinse FM host has her own party series La Noche with Byron Yeates and sibling DHC, and with the latter plays back-to-back as S-candalo. Acid, potent rave bangers, vocal gems and deeper delights all feature in her sets which always look to combine an unbridled sense of party with plenty of emotional nuance. This week's mix was recorded just after the start of festival season so is aimed at getting your summer started in style. Staying true to her signature house sounds with plenty of warmth, euphoria and rolling grooves, it's a perfect representation of her ideal dance floor soundtrack. While leaning towards the energy of the main stage and "anthemic vastness," her selections never forget about the all-important elements of intimacy and soul which help the beats make a lasting impression.
This episode of Belta is with Talina. Originally from Manchester and now based in London, she's a sensational presenter, radio host and DJ who holds down regular shows on Rinse FM, has hosted Boiler Rooms, and runs her own podcast South Asian Overground. Naturally we spoke about all of that, her absolutely instrumental and incredible efforts to talk about mental health and build open narratives around it, getting into presenting when you're not from a ‘hub' and plenty more. She's also a hardcore Manchester United fan... so that dominated a heap towards the end. Spoiler: she can tell the future. :DFind Talina online here.Find Belta online at @beltamedia and Niamh at @n_iamhingram. Music: ‘Ascent' by Metre

TRACKLIST & INTERVIEW > https://inverted-audio.com/mix/ia-mix-379-roni/ With @roni_nza, it's almost as if suddenly a storm hit the city one evening, and then she was just about on a flyer everywhere. May it be the exposure to a culturally mixed French-Malaysian upbringing, her poised supremely-femme personality, or the bottomless pit of exhilarating sweat-soaked late-night rendezvous she initiates—all of it exudes an aura that undoubtedly intrigues many. I first stumbled upon RONI's Instagram at the beginning of 2023 via a running order post for a long night of partying in Berlin's RSO, the revered venue formerly known as Griessmühle. Admittedly, I was a bit late to know her, for she was by then a staple in the burgeoning Paris underground, alongside a Rinse FM residency, establishing on-the-go Nehza Records while without-rest populating clubs all over Europe/ Asia as an effervescent touring DJ. RONI's sound curation is rooted in the continuous discovery of herself and her ravers—she ignites a euphoric connection with the crowd through a tense and undulated exchange of energies. A force of nature driving through the thicket, the dance floor swims deep in layers of UK-inspired, bass-heavy, massive-dub heaters, and cherry on top—angelic, shimmery textures for a transcendental surprise. The same applies to the IA MIX 379, curated with much adoration by RONI herself. Pulsating rhythmic structures, machine-gun percussion, and switching tempos serve as a real treat for the journey into the delicate sonic fantasy world behind a fiercely passionate mind - get to know RONI.

Ardalan and Farsight are accomplished musicians in their own right. Peruvian-American Farsight has had a string of recent releases on labels like Scuffed, Cloudcore and most recently Rinse FM's own label having also delivered a top-notch set for Boiler Room in which he debuted 'Cerebral Peanut' from this EP. Iranian-born Ardalan has been spreading his nascent party brand Ardy Party all over North America while maintaining a dynamic range in styles from releases on Pets Recordings, Toy Tonics, and Dirtybird. The two of them have joined forces to great effect here and deliver a release that exemplifies the label's commitment to reimagining classic electro. The rugged '2 Yr Town' rides on coruscated analog beats with lashings of synth and warped acid lines spraying about the mix. Chattery percussive patterns, off-grid hits and a dark vocal all bring the whole thing to life in an arresting fashion. The fantastically wonky 'Cerebral Peanut' then ups the ante with brilliantly fluid synths and clanging hits over a turbocharged electro rhythm that looks to the future. It's a vibrant sound with an all-new sense of character. Club Designs alumni and Slab Events founder Max Ulis is known for his musical adventures on Sloth Boogie, Pacific Rhythm and Vrnt. He skillfully flips the ‘Yr Town' on its head and re-engineers it as a late-night shoulder roller that's perfect for 4 am warehouse sets. Video version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03N5Bd9FunM Welcome back to another episode of the Rave Room Podcast. In this episode I sat down with 2 absolute legends. We spoke about how they enjoyed their Basscoast festival experience, their music and so much more. Ardalan Enamored first by traditional Iranian music and classic jazz and rock, Ardalan's taste began to transform with his childhood years spent moving back and forth from Iran and California. “Mr. Spock.” Call it beginner's luck, or more likely, a sign of what was to come–in2010, Ardalan shared one of his earliest studio explorations with Justin Martin, which became the foundation for the breakout hit. “Mr. Spock,” in its bizarre and booty-shaking glory, has been accredited as one of the “tracks that made Dirtybird famous,” helping to define the label's now darling reputation as a trusted source of ridiculous, off-the-wall dance floor bangers. Since, he continued to translate his deep-rooted connection to the dance floor in the studio with remixes on Toy Tonics, Play It Down, Yoshitoshi, and Dirtybird. T Williams West London's T.Williams is one of those people, having accomplished a full sweep of merited recognition over the years. Emerging onto the house scene in 2010, T.Williams instantly marked himself as a breakthrough artist with a difference; his unique take on house music turning heads. Far from a newcomer, his path as a musical artist started in the grime scene as Dread.D. Signed at the tender age of 17 with grime anthem Invasion on Jon E Cash's Black Ops label, Williams went on to have mass success in the grime and bass world selling thousands of singles worldwide. After a five-year reign, Williams found himself veering towards the world of house music. releasing solo works on his imprint Local Action and Pattern with remixes for Maya Jane Coles, Ben Westbeech and Skream. The end of 2011 saw Williams nominated for ‘Best Breakthrough DJ' by DJ Mag, ‘DJ Stars of 2012' by Time Out and featured in The Guardian. Two relationships came to the forefront in 2012 that propelled Williams to greater heights. The first was his weekly show on legendary London station, Rinse FM and the second, Williams' relationship with label PMR through his remix of Javeon McCarthy's ‘Lost Time'. The remix was named Record of the Week by BBC Radio 1 and supported by tastemakers Annie Mac and Fearne Cotton. From here T. signed to the label exclusively releasing his debut EP for the label in September 2012, and in the process receiving further support from BBC Radio 1. Further remixes of Mikky Ekko, Wretch 32 and Lianne La Havas followed suit, as well as his biggest to date - Disclosure's ‘Latch'. Powering dancefloors across the globe. Gaining his own monthly residency show with BBC Radio 1, 2013 ended with T. having played over 100 shows across four continents. 2017 marked the launch and release of the first collaborative EP with UK producer Julio Bashmore, via their joint independent Conch Records, a label aiming to push out more underground cross-genre music with heavy rotation from the likes of Moxie and Shy One. With an ever-expanding global tour schedule and further solo releases on the legendary NYC house label Strictly Rhythm turning heads, T.'s upward trajectory has never showed signs of slowing down. Using his technical prowess as a musician to educate the next generation of rising stars at London's respected Point Blank Music School has cemented his status as one of the UK music scene's key players. The first in a new series spotlighting the musical community based around Pirate Studios. Emma Lou is an eclectic DJ who weaves an intricate web of RnB, Hip Hop, Downtempo and beyond - a perfect accompaniment to a Monday afternoon. Emma Lou does things a little bit differently - seeking to cement herself as a DJ who is capable of meandering between styles and sounds rooted in her own influences growing up - blurring the lines between the new and the old. Focussing on Funk, Soul, Hip Hop and RnB her selections often create a certain ambience, one best enjoyed in dimly lit clubs or during quiet moments of personal reflection as you lose yourself in some old RnB B-Side from the late 90's or a forgotten sample from long back. A relatively fresh faced DJ on the scene she has begun to build a presence for herself with guest appearances on the likes of Rinse FM and Reprezent Radio. She has most recently taken up a residency at Pirate Studios, utilising the opportunity to define her sound in more focus and build upon her musical repertoire. This is the first mix in a new series which will spotlight artists from within the Pirate Studios community - Emma Lou makes a splendid start, with deep moving cuts which highlight her broad knowledge and eclectic taste.

Joyce Muniz already has a story like no other. Born in São Paulo, Brazil, to a family rooted in shamanism and samba, she moved to Vienna in the 90s, becoming a vocalist when the city was a global centre for downtempo and starting her DJ career at Flex Club. In the 2000s she brought an authentic voice to the European baile funk explosion, touring with Major Lazer, and moved into production. She's since collaborated with other distinct music makers, from Maya Jane Coles to DJ Hell, had a residency on Rinse FM, and released on labels including Get Physical, Permanent Vacation, Pets, International DJ Gigolo and Exploited, the latter of whom released her debut album, 2016's ‘Made In Vienna'. She is about to embark on her next album called 'Zeitkapsel', so I wanted to talk to her about the process of making this. Enjoy x Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Emma Blake is, musically, something of a nomad. She made her name—Solid Blake—that is, in Copenhagen, where she cofounded the influential Apeiron Crew alongside Mama Snake and Smokey. They were responsible in establishing the city's "fast techno" sound, which blended sleek techno and trance influences into something colourful and retro-futuristic. But Blake's side of things was always more rooted in electro, with a party-starting flair that you might be tempted to pin to her Glaswegian upbringing. (Her first release, Mario, came out on the label of the legendary Glasgow taps-aff basement nightclub La Cheetah.) And she's also spent time in Berlin, so she has those techno bona fides, too. Another EP, released on Modeselektor's Seilscheibenpfeiler, further fleshed out her electro-techno hybrid sound, also explored in her Historical Repeater project with Danish artist Ctrls. DJing has been her major focus, though—she has an excellent Rinse FM show—and you'll hear a refined approach on her excellent RA Podcast, which is like a club set in miniature, starting out midtempo and rushing towards a heady climax with tracks like Pariah's "Squishy Windows." It's loaded with creative grooves, toothsome textures and the kind of sleek melodies that helped define her stint in Copenhagen since the beginning. @solid_blake Read more at https://ra.co/podcast/873
"a collection of some of my favourite artists right now..." Producer, DJ, A&R for iconic indie label Ninja Tune & co-label head of new, female focused !K7 imprint SOS Music. London born, LA based Maddy has spent the past few years quietly carving out her own path and shaping the face of independent dance music. She has played everywhere from LA Warehouse parties to Primavera Sound, and guested on The Lot NYC, NTS, Foundation FM and Rinse FM to name a few. Maddy's music influences and styles span wide through the spectrum of experimental dance music, ranging from house, rave & disco to ambient sounds. Swiss producer and DJ NVST (@ghettonast) likes to shock her crowd. She thrives on clashing sounds, scenes, genres and textures into uncomfortable new worlds, all of which is a result of coming up from the illegal party scene in her homeland. She works hard to develop and preserve that native scene in many different ways: she is part of the Female:Pressure family, co-runs the French label Big Science and holds down residencies on LYLRadio and Rinse FM. This week's mix was recorded in Le Bourg, a club in Lausanne that NVST tells us has recently been taken over and is working hard to bring something fresh to the scene. The mix is filled with unreleased tracks from NVST's favourite artists and forthcoming tunes from labels like Big Science, Kindergatern and moshtrq next to some of her all-time favourites. It opens with a collage that includes Tamika D. Mallory's 'State of Emergency' speech of which she says "I remember the first time I heard it so accurately; I knew I should include it symbolically as well because it resonates so much with me."
Slimzee is a legend in every sense of the word. He launched Rinse FM alongside Geeneus and Uncle Dugs in 1994, running the station for three years out of his bedroom. His shows, focused on garage and grime, paved the way for the genres' current architects. As a member of Pay As U Go Cartel alongside Wiley and Flowdan, he also helped lay the foundations for early grime. Speaking to RA's Martha Pazienti Caidan, the East London veteran discusses the specifics of the Rinse FM compressor, explaining how he learnt to fine-tune frequency levels through trial and error. Back then, it was normal to focus on a specific sound in mixes and DJ sets but now, genres are more fluid, he noted, describing how he currently plays hybrids of dubstep and grime. The duo then go onto discuss the dos and don'ts of DJing with an MC, Slimzee's favourite festivals as well as his mental health journey. Listen to the conversation in full for more details.
With over thirteen years of involvement in the music industry, spanning across events, radio and festivals, Bristol-based Neffa-T continues to channel his creativity and love for music through fun, experimental and high-energy DJ sets. He has held a residency on Rinse FM since 2019. Enjoy!

Sisters Ruby and Lily London are a DJ and producer duo known as Daughters of Frank. Behind the decks, the duo will serenade you with the most romantic cuts picked from their expansive genre-spanning catalogue to their own high-energy shimmering productions. They bring magical energy to every set packing a mixed bag of electronic, R&B, groove, Latin, jazz, house, garage, breaks and a touch of jungle with soulful and sultry tones. The girls have shared their emotive mix of sounds across various radio stations which includes holding a drive time slot on Peckham's Balamii for over 2 years, and are now hosting a weekly breakfast residency on Rinse FM. The pair also run their club night ‘Club Serenade' which encapsulates their taste in dance music. "A showcase of what Club Serenade sounds like at peak club hour. At Serenade, we play a mixture of genres with a sultry, soulful and deep tone - expect broken beat, house, electronic, bass, breaks & techno - it's a certified Sloth Boogie mix. Having the same taste, we often come with the same tunes for sets so there's a couple tracks in there we both love playing out atm, and a debut of Ruby's new tune - Respect Fats. Catch us playing at Fabric's 23rd Birthday on October 14th, or tune in to our weekly Rinse FM show on Wednesday mornings 7-8am for more music!"
@djspit030 is a hybrid master. His eclectic sounds draw from a wide spectrum that takes in drill, ghetto house and drum & bass. In that regard, he is at the forefront of a new rave sound that is high energy and often extreme. His label Rascals Records represents that as does his own music on shows for Rinse FM, the sets he plays at places like Berghain's Säule and on the Explorers podcast he runs as a means of investigating contemporary club sounds. In the mix for us this week he invites us deep into a world of elastic rhythm and funky drum patterns. The tunes he reaches for are often stripped back and sleek but always high impact, with plenty of sci-fi motifs and cavernous, otherworldly atmospheres. He calls his sound "twisted future bounce" and we couldn't put it better.
Sicaria Sound are resident DJs for the Deep Medi Musik label and since 2018 they have held a monthly residency on Rinse FM. In 2020 they launched their Cutcross imprint to “champion the melting pot of bass-centric sounds teetering around 140 BPM…whilst spotlighting underground artists" and in March 2021 they made their production debut with their first EP 'Binate'. Enjoy!

A big thanks to Ed Isar for inviting me to contribute a mix to his Rinse FM show. Ed is behind the Musique Pour La Danse label (recently reissuing Coil and rEAGENZ albums amongst others), as well as the brilliant Tursiops label. Below is the text sent along to accompany the show and introduce the rough idea behind it.I'm a father to two young boys, so finding time to dedicate to a vinyl mix is tough, but I found myself inspired to get behind the decks late one evening and see what would happen. My only intention was that I wanted to include a couple of upcoming releases (test presses) from the label somehow but they are almost the outliers in the set style-wise., so I had to work around them a little. It ended up quite dark, very deep, and pitch-bent, with a few good crackles for good measure and moments I am sure people will be familiar with.Listen to the mix below or on Soundcloud, with Ed taking the reigns for the first half and some lovely vibes to set up my darker piece! Emerald is a name that should be familiar to any Rinse FM devotee—she's been DJing on the UK dance music radio giant since 2014, and has just started a new flagship slot called The Dance Show on Friday nights. The Londoner is a consummate radio DJ, blending together genres and tempos with pitch-perfect mixing and an ear for hooks that makes each track stand out. (She calls herself "genre fluid.") She's said so much in the lengthy, excellent interview below, so we can keep this part brief. Her RA Podcast combines newer favorites from Lauren Flax, Queer On Acid and Neil Landstrumm with older, recently acquired records from DJ Deeon (1994) and FSOM (1992). If this is your introduction, then take a listen and make a note to check out The Dance Show next Friday. And if you already know Emerald, then you know this is gonna be a good one. Pirate radio, dubstep and documentary filmmaking—the many faces of Heny G. Malcolm Christopher Gustave, AKA Heny G, is a name synonymous with pirate radio and dubstep. Through his own shows and station, he championed a melodic style of the syncopated, sub-bass sound that's since influenced several of the genre's stalwarts. Speaking with Resident Advisor contributor Marcus Barnes, Gustave explains how his love for radio pushed him to champion diverse artists in dance music. Tracing the trajectory of his time in the industry, Gustave describes how he started in pirate radio at the age of 13. Developing an obsession with jungle, garage and house music, he went onto work at Rinse FM during the 2000s when it was still an unlicensed platform. Around that tinme, he also launching his own station, React FM. While DJing and presenting, Gustave fine-tuned his signature style of emotive dubstep. Nine years since the release of his debut album Child Hood, his soulful productions continue to resonate with old and new heads alike, as Barnes points out. Over the past year, Gustave has been working on a documentary called The Last Weekend. Chatting to Barnes about the creative process, he outlines his entry into filmmaking and how the art form has added another layer to his ever-evolving career. Listen to the discussion for the full details.
