Episode 289 features The Open Flames from London, England. The band includes members of Sleepy Kitty and Harvey Danger. In the interview, I spoke with Dave Eastman, Paige Brubeck, and Evan Sult. Paige and Evan were calling in from NYC. It was a fun conversation—we talked about all things music, Europe, and the daily grind. In the episode, I featured their track "Drop a Coin" as well as a brand-new song called "Eat Alone," which comes out on Nov 9. Dave even played a live version of the track at the end of the conversation. It's super catchy and reminds me of the heyday of the Oasis/REM 90s rock era. I dowloaded a video on the Hebrew word “Halal” and used it to introduce our corporate worship this last Sunday in the Thames Valley churches of Christ. The Big Band Dances are a staple of summertime in Nashville. These events are free and open to the public on Saturday nights 7-10PM June – August (except the Saturday closest to the 4th of July!). It takes place at the Centennial Park Event Shelter and features a live Big Band performing Big Band era music and a dance floor filled with dancers. There are also two free group dance lessons during the evening and an area for children (or adults) to draw with sidewalk chalk. Simply put, it’s fun. This event is produced by the Metro Nashville Parks Music Department. Sponsors and partners include Creative Parks Nashville, The Tennessee Arts Commission, Nashville Ballroom and Company, and the Music Performance Trust Fund. 2019 will be the 36th year of Big Band Dances in a Metro Nashville Park. An Automotive Podcast By Dave EastmanIn this first episode Dave Eastman introduces the podcast as an alliance between repair shops and auto owners. Gayle tells about getting her license when she was 17 and driving her brother's '68 Camaro Rally Sport to school and on errands while he was overseas in Viet Nam.
