Something has gone terribly wrong in the American church, and few people are talking about it. Worldly ideologies have obscured biblical truth, feel-good messages have replaced sound doctrine, and the faith of many is crumbling under deception. The Bible warns of a great apostasy as this present age draws to a close. The closer we get to the Lord's return the further the Church is falling away from Him. The Great Last Days Apostasy exposes the evidence of this alarming departure. Will the remnant arise and be found faithful? Why should we care about geography? Especially in the land of Israel? Geography is a much larger topic with three interrelated parts. First, there is physical geography. Physical geography studies the features on the surface of the earth and the forces that shape them. Second, there is human geography. Human geography explores the impact of people on place and place on people. For example, human beings act on place by assigning names, planting crops, and building cities. Conversely, place impacts the human experience. It determines what food crops can be grown, how homes are built, and where people traveled. Third, geography also includes natural history. This part of geography attends to the plants, trees, animals, and insects that live in a place. All of this and more is in Jack's newest book ODB Bible Atlas It is an atlas as well as a Bible commentary. We, Scott and Gabe, need to know if you guys like the content. Jon Hunter and Michael Card explore the impact of a contentious 2024 primary, the ongoing debate over direct democracy, and the role of legislative mentorship.
A Sunday morning sermon by Pastor Brett Deal. I'm always amazed when someone can encapsulate a big idea with a small word count! It's incredible! I could write 40,000 words on just how powerful that talent is… but I digress. Sitting with the many thoughts Jesus presents in Matthew 7.1-12, I find myself once again in the presence of master wordsmiths. Reflecting on Jesus' inspired words, Michael Card wrote, “Our confidence in prayer is not rooted in our ability to pray but in the manifestly loving nature of our Father.” Forgive the pun, but what a Mic drop! How often have we stained our prayers with insecurity. At times, we might even become the primary audience for our entreaties, forgetting prayer is not thoughts that swirl in our hearts and minds, but our invitation to dialogue with our God and King! Like in our times of misdirected fasting, our insecurity in prayer is due to our making too much of ourselves, too much of our ability. Praise God he doesn't measure our prayers on our verbal embellishments or lyrical eloquence! As a matter of fact, the fewer words the better. Our confidence in prayer is rooted in the manifestly loving nature of our Father. This is real security. This is the confidence of a child safe in his mother's arms. This is the assurance of a daughter held tight by her father. This is a sweet surrender of our false sense of control to the One who forever holds us and surrounds us with His love. May this confidence be the basis by which Jesus guides us into His teaching this week on judgment and hypocrisy, worth and wisdom, prayer and aspiration.

Dr Ed Hindson was a man of substance because of what he believed or as Rich Mullins sang: And I believe what I believe It's what makes me what I am I did not make it, no, it is making me It is the very truth of God, not the invention of any man. What can the arrival of the wise men in Matthew's Gospel teach us? Ed and Wayne bring this question to our friend Michael Card. Listen in as they discuss the rich lessons we can discover when we connect this story with reaching out to our world. Let this first episode of 2025 awaken in you the desire to lead others in a search for the Savior of the world…Until All Have Heard.
There's something really special about having a new baby in the family at Christmastime isn't there, since it's really all about a baby. I remember, you know, for example celebrating with a brand new granddaughter. Well, she didn't do much celebrating that Christmas. She really didn't do much of anything except lie there and look irresistible. Now, in my head, I know that babies are helpless, but being around one for a little while really brings that home. Our little darlin' couldn't eat unless Mommy fed her; she couldn't burp unless someone burped her (that's something that some of us grew up and learned to be quite good at); our baby couldn't move unless someone moved her; her little hands sort of flailed around - absolutely no ability to control what they did. Helpless. I'm Ron Hutchcraft and I want to have A Word With You today about "The Radical Christmas Victory Plan." Now try to get your mind around this: the helpless hands of that little Jewish baby Mary was holding in the manger were the hands that created billions of galaxies! The Son of God, the second person of the Godhead, the One of whom the Bible says, "Through Him all things were made" (John 1:3). He comes to our planet in this helpless little package that basically can do nothing for himself. Omnipotence becomes helpless to rescue a world full of dying people. As one song says, "What a strange way to save the world." Get used to it. It seems to be God's favorite modus operandi. And this radical victory plan - use the weak to do amazing things - can be both an encouragement to you and an explanation for some of your recent struggles. Let's go to our word for today from the Word of God to see the story of that first Christmas from heaven's viewpoint. Philippians 2, beginning with verse 5, tells us that our attitude "should be the same as that of Christ Jesus." God goes on to explain that, though Jesus was "in very nature God," He "made Himself nothing (now picture that helpless, little infant in a cattle stall), taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness...He humbled himself and became obedient to death - even death on a cross!" The great plan of God to redeem our world starts with Jesus as a helpless baby in a cattle stall and culminates with Him nailed to a criminal's cross. But Colossians 2:15 announces the crushing triumph won by that "weakness." It says Jesus disarmed the princes of hell and "made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross!" As musician Michael Card says, "His most awesome work was done through the frailty of His Son!" God loves to win through weakness. Then it's a whole lot of God, and hardly any of us. That's why He chooses unlikely candidates and does mighty things through them - which means your inadequacy, your ordinariness may be exactly the qualities that can make you a spiritual hero. According to Jesus, who is it that will "inherit the earth"? The mighty? No - the meek (Matthew 5:3). And about the struggles you've been going through recently. God will do whatever it takes to help us realize our weakness - to break our death grip on the steering wheel of our life and finally let Him drive - to break that stubborn pride of ours, the self-reliance, our need to control. The events and the news of things in our lives that have gone on for the last few years, if anything, have ripped from our hands any ability to control what's going on, the illusion of control. And all so we can finally surrender and let His strength come flooding in. Maybe the battles you've been going through have been to take you beyond yourself and beyond things you can fix, you can solve, you can figure out - so you'll get out of the way and let God do what only He can do. A baby wrapped in rags - a bloodied man, hanging on a cross. Vivid pictures of God's radical plan for victory - winning through weakness so everyone will know that the Lord is God!
QUOTES FOR REFLECTION“When the Father's Wisdom wanted to communicate His loveHe spoke it in one final perfect Word. “And so the Light became alive, and manna became ManEternity stepped into time, so we could understand.”~Michael Card, musical artist “‘Evangelion' (that we call the gospel) is a Greek word, and signifies good, merry, glad and joyful tidings, that makes a man's heart glad, and makes him sing, dance and leap for joy.”~William Tyndale (1494-1536), English, scholar, reformer, and Bible translator “Many people visualize a God who sits comfortably on a distant throne, remote, aloof, uninterested, and indifferent to the needs of mortals, until, it may be, they can badger him into taking action on their behalf. Such a view is wholly false. The Bible reveals a God who, long before it even occurs to man to turn to him, while man is still lost in darkness and sunk in sin, takes the initiative, rises from his throne, lays aside his glory, and stoops to seek until he finds him.”~John R.W. Stott (1921-2011), Anglican priest and theologian “The Son of God did not want to be seen and found in heaven. Therefore he descended from heaven into this humility and came to us in our flesh, laid himself into the womb of his mother and into the manger and went on to the cross. This was the ladder that he placed on earth so that we might ascend to God on it. This is the way you must take.”~Martin Luther (1483-1546), German reformer “For whatever reason God chose to make man as he is— limited and suffering and subject to sorrows and death—He had the honesty and the courage to take His own medicine.… He has kept His own rules and played fair. He can exact nothing from man that He has not exacted from Himself. He has Himself gone through the whole of human experience, from the trivial irritations of family life and the cramping restrictions of hard work and lack of money to the worst horrors of pain and humiliation, defeat, despair and death. When He was a man, He played the man. He was born in poverty and died in disgrace and thought it well worthwhile.”~Dorothy L. Sayers (1893-1957), novelist and playwrightSERMON PASSAGELuke 2:10-11, Proverbs 12:25, Proverbs 25:25 (ESV) Luke 2 10 And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.Proverbs 1225 Anxiety in a man's heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.Proverbs 25 25 Like cold water to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.

Send us a textTHE FRUIT OF KINDNESSFruit-Full – Part 5Springcreek Church | Senior Pastor Keith StewartOctober 27, 2024#god #realspringcreekchurch #fruitfull #thefruitofkindness #kindnesshttps://www.springcreekchurch.org/ With the hotly contested presidential election just around the corner coupled with the toxic cesspool social media has become, many of us find ourselves longing for less hate and more kindness. That's why you don't want to miss this Sunday's message as we explore the Fruit of Kindness. We're going to explore the kindness of God and why He wants this virtue to set us apart as His followers. The message will both challenge and encourage you, but most of all, instill you with hope that God's ways are truly the best.---DISCUSSION QUESTIONS 1. Kindness is other-centered. The Old Testament word (Hebrew - Chesed or Hesed) and the New Testament word (Greek – Chrestotes), both have the same idea of caring for the needs of others. Look at the following definitions again…“When chrestotes is working in a believer, he seeks to become adaptable to the needs of those who are around him.” - Rick Renner“Chesed means the ability to get right inside the other person's skin until we can see things with his eyes, think things with his mind, and feel things with his feelings.” - William Barclay, Daily Study Bible commentary on Matthew“They willingly pour themselves out for the good of someone else.” - Carolyn JamesWhen and in what ways have you experienced this FROM others? When and in what ways have you done this FOR others?2. God is kind all the time and God is kind to all people. In what ways have you experienced the kindness of God? How does God show His kindness to all people everywhere? 3. What were your biggest takeaways from today's message? 4. Why did the lawyer try to limit the definition of neighbor? How did Jesus correct his erroneous ideas? Do people today still try to limit the definition of neighbor to those most like themselves? 5. A woman asked Michael Card, “Why won't you let me be kind to you?” It's an important question. Additionally, it speaks to this idea of why we resist grace. Do you have trouble receiving kindness from others? Do you struggle with the idea of grace? 6. It's not our actions but our reactions that are the best barometer of where we actually are in Christ. It's our reactions that reveal what's really going on inside us. To use the words of Amy Carmichael, “What fills your cup?” When life knocks you down, bumps you, inconveniences you, how do you react? What spills from your cup when you get bumped?
