It's our 100th Podcast episode! To celebrate we're giving away 10 This is Reportage or This is Reportage: Family Memberships - worth £100 each! We've reached our 100th episode! Can you believe it? It feels very surreal to me; it honestly only feels like a couple of months ago that it all began. We launched on November 7th 2019, and in just over two years I'm so happy to say we've reached this pretty special milestone. We've had over 76,000 listens so far, which means that each episode gets listened to over 760 times on average... amazing! I'm so thrilled that the photographers I talk to each week get to share their stories, tips and advice with so many people all over the world. Thank you so much for listening! As this is a special milestone, I thought I'd do a bit of a different episode, and I thought it would be nice to do a kind of 'montage' episode, where I'm featuring clips from past episodes. Now, this is in no way a 'best of' episode, as there has been far too much great content shared over our all the episodes so far - it would need a 10-hour episode to do one of those - but it is just a selection of some clips that stood out to me, or made me smile, or clips that gave a good sense of what the Podcast is about. It would have been impossible for me to feature every single photographer that I've interviewed so far (see above about needing a 10+ hour episode for that!) but you will hear from over 30 of my guests, including Valter Antunes, Sanne De Block, Rowena Meadows, Adam Johnson, Tyler Wirken, Rocio Vega, Yves Schepers, Gretchen Yost, Pedro Vilela, Lisa Hu Chen, David Scholes, Julia Rose-Greim, Franck Boutonnet, Dominique and Liam Shaw, Katrin Küllenberg, Ross Harvey, Menino Conhece Menina, Sam Docker, and many more... If you're a regular listener, hopefully you'll enjoy re-visiting some things you've heard before, or perhaps it'll point you to some episodes that you may have missed - and if you're brand-new to the Podcast, I hope this episode gives a good taster of what you've got in store if you want to delve into our back catalogue of episodes. ***We're also celebrating this milestone with a contest, where you can win 1 of 10 This is Reportage or This is Reportage: Family memberships - worth £100 each.*** Visit https://thisisreportage.com/podcast-episode-100-this-is-the-100th-special/ to see how to enter. : Episode 1757 - On this Saturday show, David Scholes joins Vinnie to discuss his wife's death from COVID-19 complications, COVID-19 and sugar, horrible hospital diets, and more. Https://www.vinnietortorich.com/2021/01/covid-19-and-sugar-episode-1757 PLEASE SUPPORT OUR SPONSORS COVID-19 AND SUGAR David's wife unfortunately passed away from COVID-19 complications earlier this year. She was only 48 years old. His wife suffered from Type 2 Diabetes, but it was under control. She did not stick to NSNG® or a ketogenic diet. David noticed that in his family, the members who ate sugar and the like had worse symptoms. For a while, it seemed his wife was getting better, but unfortunately she ended up in the ICU and passed after a lengthy 5-week battle. Three weeks into her hospital stay, David finally got to see her. But, at that point, she was largely sedated, unfortunately. He was worried about the food she was fed in the hospital. David tried to get the hospital to try a ketogenic diet toward the end, and they started with a 72 hour fast. She was 30% better with oxygen intake toward the end of that fast. The studies on this have not been tested in humans but have had positive results in mice. FAT DOC 2 IS AVAILABLE ON ITUNES! Please also share it with family and friends! Online auctions have gone ‘handsfree’. Imagine an auction without an auctioneer. David Scholes from SoldOnline says he has the eBay of real estate.
“What is most important is for an agent not to be scared to do something different. Not to be scared to approach an owner with a bold new plan … to differentiate themselves. Be adventurous enough to do something different because, I promise you, owners that have to select an agent are not going to be fazed by a person who puts something new in front of them.” - David Scholes David Scholes commenced work in rural Australia conducting stock and station auctions. He moved to Sydney in the early 1990s to concentrate on what he has since come to successfully specialise in – auctioning residential and commercial real estate. David now conducts about 1,000 auctions annually in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. His regular clients also include major financial institutions as well as some of the largest and most respected names in the Australian corporate and property sectors. In recognition of David’s continued support to the Real Estate Industry, he was awarded the REINSW highest and most coveted award - The Prestigious Woodrow Weight Award. David Scholes has conducted some 40,000 auctions over his career and candidly shares with us many examples of buyers pushing themselves beyond their limits, the auctioneer's role in getting them to do this and the extreme times when he actually stops mid-auction because a bidder is over extended! Other insights include: The seven stages of an auction and which one is the most important. His frustrations with sales agents. How smart agents will handle a situation when only one bidder is registered. The impact of momentum on the sales price. How a pedantic auctioneer could cost the vendor money. Why the reserve price isn't important. The different ways buyers can respond to the pressure of an auction and which ones annoy auctioneers. How he lures reluctant bidders. What experienced bidders do to control an auction. The real reason auction clearance rates drop in a transitional market. The psychology of online property auctions and whether they will replace on-site/in-rooms auctions. Are there differences auctioning in Brisbane, Melbourne, Canberra & Sydney?
