A relaxed chat with Nico and James about some of the lesser spoken about topics at the World Cup. Featuring, Cape Verde's historic draw against Spain; Netherlands chances of winning the tournament; hydration breaks; Thomas Partey being banned from entering Canada; fake stories online; and Yasin Ayari refusing to celebrate only to later really celebrate! Plus, VAR at the tournament including in stadium announcements, controversy around Switzerland's goal against Qatar and pre game posing and Tunisia needed one one game to decide to sack their manager! David and James give an overview of all 10 games played Friday to Sunday at the World Cup with discussion also features Fantasy assets for Matchday 2. Germany had a fright against Curacao but eventually got seven, they have surely done enough to qualify, and it will feel the same too for a very impressive USA and Sweden who also won comfortably. There was a shock for Switzerland conceding late to Qatar, but a historic victory for Scotland who beat Haiti. And interest for Fantasy includes two teams who didn't win this weekend in Brazil, who were held by Morocco; and Ecuador who lost it late in a very enjoyable encounter against Ivory Coast. It began with the school's values: a local school with a global perspective, serving a richly diverse community and committed to helping students develop cultural appreciation, confidence and a strong sense of identity.Across the conversation, we explore how the school's French bilingual stream works from the early years through to the end of primary school, how oracy, immersion, phonics, topic-based teaching and cultural learning are carefully sequenced, and why the model depends on long-term commitment rather than short-term initiative thinking. We also discuss the practicalities: staffing, planning, parental communication, governance, workload, progression, misconceptions about bilingualism, and the challenge of what happens when students leave primary school with a level of French that many secondary schools are not yet equipped to build on.This is a fascinating conversation about curriculum, culture, implementation and ambition. Whether you are interested in language learning, school vision, curriculum design or the conditions that allow distinctive practice to thrive, there is plenty here to think about.

What if AI Actually Costs More Than Humans?   The headcount reduction mandate has landed on your desk: replace talent with AI and cut costs. But beneath the vendor demos and boardroom promises lies a dangerous assumption - that artificial intelligence is automatically cheaper than human expertise.   What if the token economics tell a different story?   Join us for a provocative livestream that flips the AI narrative and protects your workforce strategy.   • The hidden maths of token consumption -and why projected savings evaporate at scale   • Why cost-per-inference is rarely modelled against fully-loaded employee costs in vendor ROI   • Talent attrition: when top performers leave because they see AI replacement unfolding   • Quality degradation and the invisible cost of human-in-the-loop error correction   • Vendor lock-in: how API pricing volatility turns fixed labor into unpredictable OpEx   • The productivity paradox: why AI-augmented teams outperform pure replacement strategies   • Compliance blind spots: liability, bias audits, and regulatory costs headcount never triggered   • Retraining debt: the unbudgeted expense of prompt engineering and system maintenance   • The competitive cost of hollow teams when institutional knowledge walks out the door   • Frameworks to model true total cost of AI ownership before approving any reduction-in-force   This is not an anti-AI argument - it is a financial reality check for leaders pressured to cut first and calculate later. Before you trade headcount for tokens, understand the true cost of replacing humans with models.   We're on Friday 5th June, 2pm BST. Send us Fan MailWelcome to this episode of the Sexier than a Squirrel podcast, the podcast that brings you real-life dog training results, and sometimes human training ones too! This week, Lauren is joined by Karen for a conversation all about cooperative care: what it is, why it matters, and why so many dogs are simply enduring handling rather than truly feeling safe with it. Because a dog standing still at the groomers, freezing for the vet, or wriggling away from a harness isn't necessarily “fine” at all. Often, it's a dog with no real understanding, no predictability, and no way to say “give me a moment, I'm not comfortable with that.”In this episode, we explore what happens when handling becomes a conversation instead of a battle. From muzzle training and harness struggles to grooming, nail clipping, tick removal, blood draws, and end-of-life care, cooperative care gives dogs a way to understand what's happening and participate willingly, one small step at a time.Lauren and Karen talk through some of the practical foundation skills that make the biggest difference, including permission chin targets, bar holds, head-in-a-box games, and how proofing and gradual layering help dogs build genuine confidence around handling. You'll hear why reinforcement alone is not the same as consent, especially for food-motivated dogs who may still be deeply uncomfortable, and why giving dogs the ability to pause or opt out can completely change the emotional picture. We also dive into the real-life impact this training can have. From smoother blood draws at the vets and calmer grooming appointments to reducing stress around harnesses and medical procedures, cooperative care isn't just “nice training” - it's a practical skillset that supports your relationship with your dog through every stage of life.Along the way, Karen shares honest reflections about living with a dog who finds handling difficult, the signs she wishes she'd recognised earlier, and how changing the conversation has transformed everyday interactions that once felt stressful or confrontational. If you want handling to feel calmer, clearer, and more collaborative for both you and your dog, this episode is packed with practical ideas you can start using right away.Check out our Cooperative Care course (including the 10 Days to Happy Handling foundational learning) here. And register for our FREE Live Cooperative Care Masterclass on Friday 5th June (12 noon - 3pm BST) at absolutedogs.me/masterclassSupport the showIf you're loving the podcast, you'll love our NEW Sexier than a Squirrel Dog Training Challenge even more! The hiring environment has fundamentally reset—and most talent acquisition teams are still using benchmarks built for a world that no longer exists. Between 2022 and 2025, everything changed: application volumes surged 385%, recruiter teams were cut by 57%, and AI simultaneously flooded pipelines with noise while offering new efficiencies. Yet against this backdrop, Greenhouse data from 17M+ applications across 800+ European organizations reveals a surprising truth—recruiters are actually performing better, not worse. Monthly hires per recruiter have jumped 113%. Jobs closed with a hire are up 13%. The teams thriving aren't those with bigger budgets or larger headcount. They're the ones who redefined what "good" looks like in this new reality. This webinar distills the definitive 2026 benchmarks from The Hire Standard report—the metrics that actually matter when volume is permanent, teams are lean, and AI is rewriting the rules.   • The Volume Reality Check • The Productivity Paradox • Interview Intensity as Quality Control • Days-to-Fill Reinterpreted • Stage Progression Intelligence • Sourcing ROI Reality • The Recruiter-Sourced Advantage • AI at the Top of Funnel • Structured Process Under Pressure • The Employer Brand Imperative   The teams still measuring against 2022 baselines are making disastrous decisions—cutting resources that are actually delivering, or maintaining processes that collapsed under new volume. The Hire Standard data reveals what "good" actually looks like when pipelines are flooded, teams are lean, and AI is both problem and solution.   Includes exclusive access to The Hire Standard 2026 Benchmark Toolkit with calibrated metrics by organization size and industry. Live Q&A with data analysis leads. Recording and materials restricted to registrants.   We're on Friday 29th May at 2pm BST. Greenhouse analyzed data from over 6,000 companies and over 640M applications over the last 3 years to understand how recruiters are really doing and how hiring teams can keep up with industry standards. The Full Moon occurs at 9.45 am BST/4.45 EDT on May 31 in the depths of Scorpio, in stark contrast to the Taurus New Moon in the middle of the month. Unlike the exalted Taurus New Moon, the Moon has fallen in Scorpio. What began with high expectations may now feel heavy when things do not unfold as imagined, or when something changes. Yet everything serves a purpose. This Full Moon illuminates the darker corners of the psyche, bringing awareness to what needs to be surrendered. Surrender is not a mental choice, but a process, and one that may feel especially intense leading up to this Full Moon in Scorpio. This is not just about surrender, it's about devotion: surrendering to how you think things should be, giving up your need to control outcomes. Anurādhā refers to Kṛṣṇa's devoted lover and the loyalty reflected in this lunar mansion. It is ruled by Mitra, the god of friendship, highlighting the potential for agreement, co-operation, and support from others, but only once you have committed yourself. Despite the Moon's weakness and strong feelings of vulnerability, Mars is powerful in Aries and casts an exact 8th house aspect onto the Moon, bringing the courage to confront and remove what this Full Moon reveals, and protect what needs protecting. Jupiter changes signs the following day, suggesting a shift in atmosphere and perspective. Once you surrender to life's changes, something lighter and more hopeful can emerge. The symbol of Anurādhā is the lotus flower, which rises from the mud. Without the mud, without your darker thoughts and feelings, you cannot blossom. These are the soil from which your true devotion arises.

Now the radio propagation report, compiled by G0KYA, G3YLA and G4BAO on Thursday the 28th of May 2026 What a difference a week can make! Last week, we reported that the solar flux index was down in the 100s, but that it looked like there were spots coming around the Sun. This week, they've arrived, pushing the solar flux index up to 142 on Thursday, the 28th. But with sunspots comes the risk of solar flares and coronal mass ejections, or CMEs, so don't get too comfy! So far, we have only seen minor C-class flares, so keep your fingers crossed. Upper HF activity has been split between F2-layer propagation and Sporadic-E. As always, there seems to be more activity on FT8 than CW or SSB. However, it is also worth keeping an eye on the 10m band beacons, which often spring out of the noise. You can find a list of 10m beacons at rsgb.org/main/technical/propagation. Just follow the link to ‘Propagation Beacons'. DX to be worked this week includes 5Z4/MM0ZBH in Kenya; 3G0Z and XR0Z on the Juan Fernández Islands; ZL7IO from the Chatham Islands; CP7DX in Bolivia, and VJ2L on Lord Howe Island. More details can be found at dx-world.net Next week, NOAA predicts the solar flux index will remain in the 140 to 150 range, with generally calm geomagnetic conditions and an estimated Kp index of 2. There may be a brief excursion to 4 around Thursday, the 4th of June, but it is predicted to return to 2 the next day. As we mentioned earlier, with up to ten sunspot groups visible on the Sun's surface, anything could happen, so keep an eye on solarham.net  for news of solar flares and CMEs. Otherwise, enjoy the good HF conditions while they last. And now the VHF and up propagation news from G3YLA and G4BAO. The lengthy spell of heat is releasing its grip, and we are now seeing the start of a change to unsettled weather driven by Atlantic weather systems crossing the country. It can often take a while to properly reach the southeast, but there will be some rain there eventually. For most parts of the country, it will be a mix of occasional spells of rain or scattered heavy showers. Apart from transient ridges of high pressure in between the fronts, there is only a limited option for tropo, in favour of rain scatter for the coming week. The first week in June is often regarded as a prime period for Sporadic-E, and the return of unsettled weather means that there should be some jet stream activity to generate atmospheric gravity waves that provide the wind shear in the E region. There is also a lesser-known meteor shower to provide the fuel for Sporadic-E propagation. This is the Arietids, which is mainly a daytime shower. The solar conditions have provided a few recent minor enhancements of the Kp index between 1 and 4, but not enough to get excited about in a radio sense for aurora. EME now, and this is a week to check out your kit. Moon declination reaches its minimum tomorrow, the 1st of June. We also reach lunar apogee tomorrow. Conditions will improve after this period. 144MHz sky temperature is moderate to high all week, peaking at nearly 3,300 Kelvin on Tuesday. And that's all from the propagation team this week.

Life in the Peloton

Life in the Peloton is proudly brought to you by MAAP   We're nearing the end of the Giro d'Italia, and it's been a crazy race so far. Jonas Vingegaard's dominating the GC, the sprint stages have been hotly contested by Magnier, Groenewegen, and Milan, and UAE are mopping up stage wins left, right, and centre. With just a few days left of the first Grandy of 2026, it's time for this month's Race Communiqué!    That's right, guys, Tom Southam, Luke Durbridge, and I are sitting down for a good old yarn about what's been happening over in Italy for the last few weeks before it all reaches a crescendo this weekend.    Whilst it's pretty nailed on that Vingegaard will take home the pink jersey and, with it, a place in the Grand Tour triple crown hall of fame, there's still a hotly contested fight for the podium spots and - more importantly - the best placed Western Australian, with Hindley, O'Connor, and Storer all sitting pretty in the top 10!    I raced the Giro twice in my career, and I have some fond memories from the land of espresso, prosciutto, and pretty chaotic racing. This grand tour is always a fan favourite; less mainstream than the Tour, but not as low-key as the Vuelta. But, as always, Southam disagrees; is the Giro actually boring?! He makes his case, but also takes a look at the Unibet Rose Rocket's strategy in this month's talking tactics. They're all in on winning a sprint stage because, as our old DS Klier says; “You can't dance at two weddings at the same time.”   In this month's PeloChat, Durbo takes a look at the concussion protocol, and what needs to be changed to better serve riders. This is a real hot debate in the sport at the moment and - after seeing Adam Yates covered in blood and mud battling back into the bunch before a DNS the following stage with concussion - it's clear that it's coming to a head (...if you'll excuse the pun). We discuss the current protocol, and what could be done better to give riders the support they need.   As always, we finish up with a CommuniQuiz, and Southam's up to bat as quiz master with a real tricky Giro special edition. I reckon even Coppi, Pantani, and Nibali would have been caught out with some of these questions, so play along at home and see how you get on! Guys, it's smoking hot over in Europe right now whilst I'm cosying up by the fire at the end of Autumn back home in Melbourne. Seeing the riders sweating away in the mountains is making me feel pretty smug - I don't miss that one bit…but then again, a good excuse to knock the top off a few cold ones.   Cheers, Mitch   Thanks heaps for listening to this month's Communiqué, brought to you exclusively by TrainingPeaks. Make sure you hop on TrainingPeaks virtual next Tuesday June 2nd at 8pm AEST / 11am GMT+ 1 (BST) / 6am EDT to join Southam and I for a virtual ride. Southam's going pretty well at the moment from what I hear, so I'll have to dive deep into the hurt box to try to get one over on him - why not jump on and give me a virtual draft? FOLLOW UP: MOTABILITY PAUSES BLACK BOX USEMotability has announced that it will be pausing the ‘Drive Smart' scheme that included fitting a black box to cars owned by those under the age of 30 leasing a car from them. Unfortunately they are not cancelling it but will amend it and try again. This discriminates against disabled drivers rather than helping them be more independent and live as active a life as possible. Click this article link here, from Disability News Service, for more.FOLLOW UP: THE TREASURY REJECTED MINISTERIAL CALL TO DROP PUBLIC CHARGING VAT RATEThe Treasury Department stood firm in the face of calls, by ministers, to drop the VAT rate for public EV chargers to 5%. HMRC is appealing the tax tribunal that agreed it should be cut due to their own criterial making it clear it should not be charged at 20%. To read more, click this article link from Europe Says.GOVERNMENT EXTENDS FUEL DUTY CUTLast week the Government announced that it will be extending the fuel duty cut to the end of the year, thanks to the idiocy in the Middle East. Whilst this sounds like it should help people, there are lots of evidence that shows those who need such help the most are disproportionately affected in times like these meaning they stop driving. For personal car usage this helps only the wealthy, however in the wider transportation ecosystem this will help to keep some costs down and not add to the impact the crisis is already having. For more on the news item, click this article link from Transport News.STELLANTIS AND DONGFENG SIGN EUROPEAN DEALStellantis and Dongfeng have signed another deal, this time for the Chinese firm to build their cars in European factories with spare capacity. You can read more, by clicking this Autocar article link here. There is also a link to a Top Gear article here, that goes into detail about if Stellantis's new plan is in fact new, that we think you might find interesting.HAS KIA AND NISSAN FIXED THEIR VULNERABILITIES IN 2 YEARSTwo years ago, security researcher Neiko Rivera, found some shocking API vulnerabilities in Kia and Nissan apps that allows easy access to vehicles he did not own. He has now followed that up, to see if improvements have been made, some have but mostly not and there's new ones that are easily exploited and should wake the industry up (especially if combined with last week's story about the MyAudi app). Click this YouTube link to his talk explaining what he has done and found. On Thursday 4 June at 20:00 BST, we will be going live with a Q&A on our YouTube channel. We need your help though, send us your automotive and motoring related question you would like to hear us answer. To send one in use our Contact Page, linked to here, and put “Q&A” in the Subject Line so it does not get lost in all the spam, or any other way you can send a question to us.NEW NEW CAR NEWS -Ferrari LuceThe internet erupted this week following Ferrari revealing their first EV, the Luce. Designed by Jony Ive and Marc Newson, the finished product has caused quite the stir. The chaps discuss this and wonder what about it makes it a Ferrari. Click this EVO article link to read more.Mercedes-AMG GTLast week Mercedes-AMG revealed their electric four door car, which also garnered a lot of attention, most of it negative. There is some impressive sounding tech dotted around the car, but that does require one to want to see beyond the looks, which is a big ask. Click this Autocar article link here, to read more.Skoda EpiqNow for something more reflective of what people want at a price that can be afforded, the Skoda Epiq. From £24,090, this is the smallest electric SUV the brand offers. Expect typically VW Group interior with Skoda touches and decent exterior looks. Click this Motoring Research article link to read more.LUNCHTIME READ: IN DEFENCE OF LIGHTNESSFriend of the show, Nir Kahn, has written an interesting piece on predominately defence vehicles but the trap many fall into with fixating on one aspect and ignoring others meaning opportunities go begging to make a better product. To read more, click this LinkedIn article link here.LIST OF THE WEEK: 21 CHARMING ROVER SALOONSThis week Andrew takes a major psychological step forward and agrees to have a list that covers Rover. He has refrained for all this time because the worst car he has ever owned was a Rover and it has left deep, deep scars. Check out the Classic & Sports Car article link and see which you would have.AND FINALLY: ARTIST JAMES STEVENSJames takes classic and iconic moments in motorsport and others, but removes the background giving that moment even more pop and power. Everyone claims they're "good with AI" on their CV. Almost no one can prove it. As AI tools proliferate across every function, talent leaders face a critical gap: we need people who don't just use AI, but wield it strategically—and we have no reliable way to identify them. Enter Zapier. The automation platform that helped democratise no-code workflows has developing and refining a practical framework for assessing AI fluency in hiring. Everyone's been talking about it. But now we've got Soeren Winter to unpack it and tell us what it means for Talent Acquisition teams.   • Redefining "AI Fluency" for Hiring • The Portfolio Approach to Assessment Distinguishing candidates who've memorized one interface from those who understand underlying AI principles and can adapt across platforms, models, and use cases • Critical Evaluation as Core Competency • Integration & Workflow Design • The Ethics & Safety Screen • Cross-Functional Translation • Learning Velocity Indicators • Practical Assessment Design • Building Internal AI Fluency Benchmarks   AI fluency is now a baseline expectation, not a differentiator—but most hiring processes haven't caught up. Organizations still screening for "AI experience" on LinkedIn are filling roles with candidates who can't deliver. Meanwhile, teams using rigorous, practical assessment frameworks are building workforces that genuinely multiply productivity. The cost of getting this wrong isn't just a bad hire; it's the opportunity cost of teams waiting months for someone to actually become useful.   We're on Friday 22nd May at 2pm BST. Register by clicking on the green button (save your spot) and follow the channel here (recommended).   Ep383 is supported by our friends at Greenhouse   AI is reshaping hiring across the UK, Ireland and Germany. But is trust keeping up?   Greenhouse surveyed over 2,200 jobseekers, recruiters and hiring managers to uncover where AI is building confidence in hiring, where it's eroding it, and what the most trusted employers are doing differently.   Download the full report

The New Moon occurs in Taurus at 9.00 pm BST/4.00 pm EDT on May 16. While the Sun's recent exaltation brought fresh energy and new beginnings, the Moon's exaltation in Taurus offers stability, nourishment, and a deeper appreciation of life.Taurus grounds the mind, drawing scattered thoughts into something tangible, calming, and enjoyable. With the planets currently gathered on one side of the lunar nodes, emotions and experiences can feel more extreme, making it especially important to embrace moments of peace, pleasure, and connection when they arise. This may come through enjoyable activities, meaningful company, or ideally both. Without grounding sensual experiences, the mind can drift too far into the unreal and restless pull of Rāhu, even while Ketu opens the door to deeper spiritual insight. This exalted New Moon takes place in Kṛttikā lunar mansion, which brings stability through purification and discernment. Kṛttikā cuts away what is unnecessary or unhealthy, helping restore clarity and mental balance.Even something as simple as spending more time in sunlight can help uplift the mind at this time. The Sun is strongly connected with Kṛttikā, illuminating and energising the mental sphere. There is a particular relief in returning to the senses after becoming lost in thought. As the planets gradually move toward Ketu in the coming months, there is a growing call to simplify, release excess, and recover inner poise.Use this exalted New Moon to begin the clearing process.

Hong Kong's talent market has been stress-tested like no other—and emerged with a new identity.   The old playbook - expat packages, regional hub prestige, English-only operations - now guarantees mediocrity. Yet for those who understand the new dynamics, Hong Kong offers something rare: a gateway to mainland opportunity with international legal frameworks, a financial center pivoting hard into tech and green finance, and a talent pool that spans Greater China and Southeast Asia. It's more complex, more competitive, and more rewarding for employers who adapt. This webinar delivers the intelligence you need to hire effectively in Asia's most transformed talent market.   10 Critical Shifts Reshaping Hiring in Hong Kong   • The Talent Diaspora & Return Dynamics – Who left, who stayed, who's returning, and why the "new Hong Kong" professional has different loyalty drivers, risk appetites, and career expectations than pre-2020 cohorts   • Mainland Integration Realities – How increasing economic and professional interchange with Shenzhen and Guangdong is reshaping language requirements, compensation benchmarks, and career mobility patterns   • Financial Services Reinvention – Beyond traditional banking: capturing talent in fintech, virtual assets, green finance, and family office services where Hong Kong is aggressively positioning against Singapore   • The Trilingual Imperative – Why "English + Mandarin + Cantonese" capability is now table stakes for client-facing and leadership roles, and how to assess proficiency beyond self-reported fluency   • Visa & Mobility Restructuring – Navigating the Top Talent Pass Scheme, General Employment Policy shifts, and the new competitive landscape for global talent attraction against Singapore and Dubai   • Compensation Compression & Expectation Shifts – Addressing the end of expat premium packages, localized salary structures, and the rising importance of housing allowances, schooling support, and tax optimization in total rewards   • Startup Ecosystem Maturation – Tapping into Hong Kong's evolving tech scene—where government investment, university commercialization, and mainland venture capital are creating new talent competition outside traditional sectors   • Work Culture Hybridization – Balancing international professional norms with evolving local expectations around hierarchy, work-life boundaries, and organizational loyalty in a post-transition environment   • Regulatory & Compliance Complexity – Hiring within Hong Kong's distinct legal framework while managing cross-border data, employment law changes, and increasing mainland regulatory influence on business operations   • Employer Branding in a Polarized Environment – Crafting authentic value propositions that resonate across diverse political and cultural perspectives without alienating key talent segments   We're on Thursday 14th May, 10am BST. AI RECOMMENDATION VS HUMAN JUDGEMENT - PT2. Can we detect, assess, train for and hire for 'human judgement'?   Following our amazing conversation a month ago, we're back with Pt2 of our conversation on AI Recommendation vs Human Judgement. This time, we're going to examine whether it is possible to hire for human judgement, whether this should be a quality we actively look for and cultivate in existing employees?   • Defining the Undefinable – Breaking down "judgment" into observable, assessable components - pattern recognition, ethical reasoning, contextual awareness, and decisive action under uncertainty - that separate humans from sophisticated autocomplete   • The Automation Paradox – How over-reliance on AI recommendations actually atrophies human judgment skills in your workforce, creating dangerous dependency loops where no one questions the machine   • Detecting Algorithmic Deference – Identifying the warning signs in candidate behavior and employee decision-making that reveal someone who executes recommendations versus someone who evaluates them   • Assessment Science for Judgment – Moving beyond situational judgment tests to immersive, real-time simulations that reveal how candidates actually react when AI advice conflicts with observable reality   • Training Judgment in an AI-Saturated World – Practical frameworks for developing judgment capabilities in employees who've never made decisions without a digital safety net—and why this is now a retention imperative   • The Hiring Manager's Dilemma – When your own recruitment process is AI-driven, how do you spot candidates with superior human judgment? Breaking the recursive trap of algorithms hiring for algorithmic compliance   • Ethical Override Readiness – Case studies of catastrophic AI failures in hiring, finance, and healthcare—and the specific judgment capabilities that could have prevented them   • Cognitive Diversity vs. AI Consensus – Why homogenized "best practice" recommendations produce blind spots, and how to build teams whose judgment complements rather than mirrors algorithmic output   • The Speed vs. Deliberation Spectrum – Redesigning workflows and roles to protect space for human judgment without sacrificing the efficiency gains AI legitimately delivers   • Future-Proofing Leadership Pipelines – Why succession planning must now explicitly screen for judgment autonomy—and how to identify high-potentials who won't become mere executors of AI strategy     We're on Friday May 8th, 2pm BST. HOW TO HIRE IN THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA IN 2026   The post-pandemic recovery, shifting regulatory landscape, and explosive growth of domestic tech giants and surprising resilience of export economy in face of Trump Tariff War, have completely rewired how Chinese professionals evaluate opportunities.   What attracted top talent five years ago - multinational brand prestige, expat packages, hierarchical titles—now falls flat against the priorities of a new generation.   Meanwhile, local competitors are mastering AI-driven recruitment, offering unprecedented flexibility, and tapping into talent pools Western companies barely know exist. This webinar cuts through the noise to reveal what's actually working in China right now. If you're serious about building teams in the world's most complex talent market, this is your competitive intelligence briefing.   10 Critical Shifts Reshaping Hiring in China   • The Rise of "Quiet Loyalty" vs. "Lying Flat" • Domestic Giant Competition – How BYD, ByteDance, CATL, and Huawei are rewriting compensation, perks, and career development benchmarks—setting expectations that foreign employers now struggle to match • AI-Native Recruitment Platforms – Why LinkedIn's China exit created a fragmented ecosystem of super-apps (WeChat, Maimai, Boss Zhipin, Xiaohongshu) and how AI-powered matching algorithms on these platforms now determine candidate visibility • The Regulatory Tightrope – Navigating 2026's evolving data privacy laws, cross-border data transfer restrictions, and employment contract requirements that can derail hires before day one • Localiaation Beyond Translation – Why "glocal" strategies fail in China and how winning employers build autonomous, culturally-embedded talent teams rather than exporting Western HR playbooks • The Returnee Talent Wave – Tapping into the growing pool of overseas-educated Chinese professionals returning home - what they expect, what they're leaving behind, and why they choose local over multinational • Flexible Work Realities – Confronting the gap between China's 996 legacy and younger workers' demands for work-life balance, remote options, and mental health support—without sacrificing productivity expectations • Skills-First Hiring in Practice – Moving beyond degree pedigree and brand-name resumes to competency-based assessments, as China's education inflation makes traditional credentials increasingly unreliable signals • Employer Branding on Chinese Social – Mastering Xiaohongshu (Little Red Book), Douyin, and Zhihu for talent attraction—platforms where candidates research your reputation through employee-generated content, not corporate career pages • Succession-Proofing Your China Leadership – Addressing the critical shortage of ready-now local leaders and why 2026's winners are accelerating executive development programs rather than importing expat talent     All this and more as we tackle what it's like to hire on of the main drivers of the global economy.   We're on Tuesday May 5th, 10am BST / 5pm CST. Save your seat (click on the green button) to register and follow the channel here (recommended) to be notified whenever we go live with a new show.   Live session includes extended Q&A on your specific China hiring challenges. The Full Moon, which occurs at 18:23 BST/ 13:23 EDT on May 1, is in Svātī, a lunar mansion known for scattering energy. Its symbol, a sprout blowing in the wind, reflects movement and change, and its ruler, Vāyu—the god of wind—speaks to strength developed through instability. Libra itself is about balance and discernment. What appears as indecision is often a careful weighing of options before committing. This Full Moon is aspected by the North Node (Rahu), closely tied to Svātī, and Jupiter in Gemini, which adds to a sense of mental and energetic dispersion. Yet Venus, ruler of Libra, is strong and more grounded in Taurus, showing the potential to stabilise and direct this energy productively. As the Moon moves into Scorpio, passing through Viśākhā, the tone shifts from diffusion to decision. Once a direction is chosen, momentum builds quickly. The Full Moon reminds us that release is part of progress. Letting go of what is no longer needed creates space for what comes next. The Sun is strong during this phase, exalted in Aries, amplifying vitality and confidence. This strength is reflected in the Moon, lending an overall positive tone. Even so, emotions may run high, with a sense of excitement and movement in the air.

NEW CAR REGISTRATION FIGURES FOR MARCH 2026SMMT has revealed the new car registration figures for March 2026. Unsurprisingly, EVs have had their best month yet, in the UK. Unfortunately, the market share is far from the 33% required by the Government. Lots of people and organisations were erroneously using the term “sales” when we only have figures for registrations. The SMMT once again called on the Government to review the ZEV mandate targets, adding the Iran war and it's knock on effects to the usual, valid, points. Click this link here, from the SMMT, to read more.TATA RECEIVES MORE GOVERNMENT MONEYThe UK Government is investing £380 million in Tata's battery factory, being built near Bridgewater in Somerset. The company states that once opened it will employ 4,000 staff on site. The money is coming from the Automotive Transformation Fund. Additionally a Devon based battery recycling facility and low-emission brake manufacturer have also been awarded money from the fund. Click this Autocar link to find out more.STELLANTIS EUROPE TO STOP FIGHTING ITSELFGiles Vidal, who is the head of design for Stellantis, gave a frank interview with Autocar after he has spent a few months reacquainting himself with the brand following his time at Renault. His main point was that the group's brands will be making cars that are distinct from each other, despite the shared underpinnings and restrictions that brings. Music to the ears of us, here at the Motoring Podcast! To read more, click the link here.BYD TO INSTALL CHARGING NETWORKBYD will be installing 300 chargers with a maximum capacity of 1500kW, making them the fastest in the UK. BYD claims that this can enable five minute charging of of 10% to 70% for their new 123kWh battery. These sites will be open to all car brands and will be run under the name ‘Flash'. As ever though, what a charger is capable of and what the grid can provide are often two different things, in the UK. For more on this story, click this Autocar article link here.UK'S LARGEST EHGV CHARGING HUBFleete (no, that's not a spelling mistake), has opened the largest UK eHGV charging hub. Located at the Port of Tilbury , it has 16 ultra-rapid chargers enabling up to 16 eHGVs to charge at the same time. The company plans to open a 26 bay facility near Birmingham too. Their previous foray into the small EV market was the Honda-E that was expensive for what it offered, although did look great. The Super-N seems to have addressed that, nearly 200 miles range for under £20,000 sounds great, hopefully real world use backs that up. Click this Motoring Research article link here, for more.Cupra RavalCupra has unveiled their Renault 5 rival, the Raval. Starting price for the Core trim, will be just under £23,000, whilst offering around 185 maximum range. Moving up through the specs increases the prices and capabilities as the V1 and V2 levels can be fitted with a 52kWh battery enabling up to 280 miles maximum range. Top of the range aims to take on the Alpine A290, with an approximately £37,000 price tag and a drop in range to around 250 miles. Click this Autocar article link, for more.Mitsubishi Outlander PHEVAs we stated a few weeks ago, Mitsubishi is bringing back the Outlander PHEV when they return to the UK market. The price will start at £46,995, but full technical specs are yet to be released. Information that EV Powered has managed to gleam includes an expected EV-only range around 53 miles, with an overall of about 500 miles. FOLLOW UP: NTSB REPORTS ON FATAL BLUECRUISE INCIDENTSThe National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has published their report on two fatal incidents that involved Ford's BlueCruise semi-automated driving system, that allows for ‘hands off eyes on' driving. Some blame is being put on the driver's “over-reliance” in the systems, but also it is made clear the company and regulations played a part. if you wish to read more on the findings, click this CNN article link here. However, the findings fail to discuss the inherent flaw in the system that has been documented from as far back as April 1948, when it comes to humans supervising automated systems. Click this Sage Journals link to N H Mackworth's research examining this issue.MOTABILITY DRIVERS SINGLED OUT AGAINThanks to the victimisation of those using the Motability scheme, originating from a far-right ‘think-tank', all drivers under 30 and those newly entering the scheme will have to have black boxes fitted. These boxes will record their journeys and from the binary inputs of those drivers they will be ‘judged' on how well they drive. This is despicable because the technology cannot judge because it is only using the binary inputs on braking, accelerating and steering with absolutely no knowledge of the environment or anything occurring around the vehicle. For more on this story, click this article link here from The Canary.NEW MOT RULES FOR 2026There are new MOT rules, for the UK, in 2026. Most of the onus is on the garages themselves, but you should be aware of them. The Government is asking for the centres to do more but is keeping the price cap where it is. There is some complication to all this as there is a First Edition option, which will be, yes you guessed it, the launch edition but that starts at £26,995 and has a 42kWh battery and 198 miles range. Many spiritual traditions teach the concept of karma - that you reap what you sow, what you put out you get back, etc. The idea is that living a good, moral life delivers positive payback in line with those behaviours. But, IS that actually the case? If it is, how does it explain so many good, well-intentioned people only reaping colossal pain, suffering and hardship in exchange for their actions, while evil, narcissistic psychopaths who seek to trample all over other people in pursuit of their goals seem to do just fine, and in fact have such paths facilitated for them? The only way this dynamic can be explained is by acknowledging that, in fact, everything in this reality is the REVERSE of what we're told it is. And that things are NOT in perpetual balance in this coded realm, but rather, skewed towards empowering outcomes in alignment with its architect's true malevolent intentions.(And yes, I know I called it God 24 in the video - sometimes I lose track!)*THE TRUE NATURE OF THIS REALM LIVESTREAM Q&AMark Devlin and Hitesh will be host a live broadcast this Easter Sunday, 5th April at 11am BST, welcoming  viewer questions and comments regarding the true nature of this reality, what force or entity could have created it, and to what end.You can view live and take part here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HHzAZmgTLQ
