What if the biggest thing holding your business back wasn't marketing, pricing, or lead generation, but the fact that everything lived inside your head? In this episode, I sit down with Jordan Craig, a wedding photographer who joined Systems in Session after years of managing inquiries, contracts, invoices, reminders, and client communication manually. Together, we unpack what happened when he moved from a patchwork process of Gmail, reminders, QuickBooks, and memory-based workflows into a streamlined Dubsado system designed to support both his business and his life.Jordan shares what surprised him most about the experience, how automation improved his client experience instead of making it feel robotic, and why he believes he'll gain back more than 180 hours every year because of the systems we built together.Find It Quickly00:24 - Meet Jordan01:32 - The Chaos Before Dubsado03:38 - Five Minute Proposals07:15 - Email Like You Mean It13:39 - Centralized CRM Wins17:14 - Offboarding Reviews Blogging18:54 - Automation Balance21:08 - Next Services To Automate24:33 - Timing Inquiries And 60 Days30:17 - Favorite Parts And GPTsMentioned in this EpisodeSystems in Session: coliejames.com/systemsEmail Like You Mean It: coliejames.com/email-like-you-mean-itConnect with the GuestWebsite: jordancraigmedia.comInstagram: instagram.com/jordancraigmedia

In this episode of Hybrid Hangout, Shayna talks with wedding photography business coach Alora Rachelle about how photographers can raise their prices, book $10K+ weddings, and scale their businesses without taking on endless doubleheaders or burning out.Alora shares how she went from overbooked and exhausted to raising her prices, booking fewer weddings, building an associate team, and creating a more sustainable business as a photographer and mother. This conversation covers the mindset behind raising your prices, why photographers panic after a few pricing objections, what separates a $6K photographer from a $10K+ photographer, and how to position your wedding photography business for higher-paying clients.Shayna and Alora also talk about luxury branding, authentic personal branding, pricing strategy, long-form marketing, SEO, Instagram content, client connection, and the importance of building a business around the life you want instead of staying stuck in a pricing model that drains you.If you are a wedding photographer who wants to book higher-paying weddings, raise your prices with more confidence, attract premium clients, and scale past six figures with more breathing room, this episode is for you.Links mentioned:Alora's free masterclass, The 10K Wedding Formula: https://montanadiaries--alorarachelle.thrivecart.com/wedding-atelier/68a381d0a8906/Join Wedding Atelier: https://montanadiaries--alorarachelle.thrivecart.com/wedding-atelier/Alora on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/alora.rachelle/Alora's podcast, Often Ambitious: https://podcast.alorarachelle.com/Book a free 1:1 strategy call for Hybrid Hub: https://hybridhangout.com/hybrid-hub-callSnag the Video Upsell Starter Kit: https://hybridhangout.com/starter-kitIf you're a photographer who already wants to add video but keeps getting stuck in research mode, this is for you. What actually makes someone become the photographer everyone knows, trusts, and refers? In this episode of Shifting Focus, I sit down with Noella Andres to talk about authority, branding, education, and why simply posting great work online is no longer enough to stand out. Noella shares her journey from wedding photographer to educator, speaker, and industry leader, along with what photographers often misunderstand about influence, visibility, and becoming known for something specific. We talk about: • Why authority is built slowly over time • The difference between attention and trust • How education can elevate your business and brand • What actually leads to speaking opportunities and brand deals • Why networking still matters • Creating strategic content instead of random content • Launching courses, podcasts, masterminds, and live events • Why "industry gatekeeping" is changing If you want to become more than just another photographer posting online, this episode is for you. You're wondering what your business actually looks like on the other side of adding video — and this episode gives you the real answer. No guessing. No assuming it's going to double your workload. No wondering if this is just another thing you'll try and drop. Shayna is here to make something very clear: adding video is not a pivot. It's an upgrade. In this episode, she walks you through exactly what changes — and what doesn't — when hybrid photo and video is working inside your real business. Because staying where you are isn't neutral. It's what's actually keeping you stuck. No starting over. No becoming a videographer. No building a second business. Just taking what you already do — and making it more valuable. We're getting into: Why staying photo-only means your growth is always tied to volume — whether you like it or not The 4 things that actually change when hybrid photo + video is working in your business Why this is not about doing more — it's about making what you already do worth more The real math: same 20 weddings, but $160–200K instead of $100K Why photographers who try to charge more without changing their offer always feel like they're forcing it What your inquiries, bookings, editing, and confidence all look like on the other side The gap between understanding hybrid and actually implementing it — and why most photographers stay stuck there Why you don't need more information — you need someone to look at your specific business What "your business becomes more efficient" actually means in practice The next step if you're ready to stop thinking about this and start doing it If you've been sitting in that in-between place — understanding hybrid photo + video but not fullSnag the Video Upsell Starter Kit: https://hybridhangout.com/starter-kitIf you're a photographer who already wants to add video but keeps getting stuck in research mode, this is for you. This week on the pod, I'm so excited to be chatting with Jada and David about going from wedding photography to building full conceptual sets and creative worlds. We get into burnout, personal projects, and what it actually looks like to pivot and start creating the work you actually want to be known for.Meet Jada + David:Jada and David are a married couple and creative duo. Together, they combine set design, photography, lighting, and motion to create bold, visually striking imagery for musicians, designers, brands, and more. Before stepping into this work, they spent nearly a decade as wedding and portrait photographers. In 2020, they shifted their focus and began building custom sets for their shoots. That decision led to their 100 Set Project in 2021, where they built 100 sets and produced 100 shoots in a single year, changing the direction of their careers.Today, Jada and David create custom sets for both personal and client work.Connect with Me:Join us at Summer Camp!Become a Member of Summer SchoolSubscribe here to our emails for updates on all things Summer School!Instagram: @summergrace.photo @the_summerschool Shop My Products:Summer Grace x G-Presets (discount code: SUMMERSCHOOL)Pricing GuideSummer Camp (2026)*Summer School is powered by Narrative — the AI culling and editing tool I use that supports my workflow without replacing my creativity. In this episode, we're back in the car for another Car Chats… which means it's a little unfiltered, slightly chaotic, and honestly just feels like you're sitting in on one of our real-life conversations. And today, we're talking about the things we genuinely can't live without as wedding creatives. Not the obvious gear… but the small, often overlooked things that make your days smoother, your client experience stronger, and your business more sustainable long term. We're sharing everything from what we keep in our bags on a wedding day, to the tiny touches that helped us build referrals early on, to the mindset shift around being fully self-sufficient… and why that matters more than you think. We also get into travel essentials, tools that have made our workflows faster, and the simple upgrades that have made a big difference in how we show up… both professionally and personally.Because the truth is, it's rarely one big thing that changes your business. It's the accumulation of small decisions, small details, and small ways you choose to go above and beyond… over and over again. This episode is part practical, part mindset, and part a reminder that the little things? AI is already changing how couples find and choose wedding photographers — and most photographers don't realise it yet. Instead of browsing directories and comparing dozens of options, couples are starting to rely on AI to narrow their choices down to just a few trusted recommendations. In this interview, Emma Wise explains what's happening behind the scenes — and why your biggest challenge moving forward won't be getting found… but getting chosen. The Wedding Industry Lie: THAT'S KEEPING YOU BROKE“If "just be yourself" was enough to grow a wedding business… half of you wouldn't still be struggling.”The wedding industry loves this advice.“Just be yourself.”“You're so talented.”“Your work will speak for itself.”And yes — authenticity matters. But here's the uncomfortable truth:Authenticity does NOT equal bookings.Being yourself does not position you.It does not elevate your perceived value. It does not create demand. And it does not build predictable revenue. In this episode, we break down one of the most repeated — and most incomplete — pieces of advice in the wedding industry.Because too many wedding professionals are hiding behind “just be yourself” while wondering why growth feels random, inconsistent, or stuck.---# Inside This Episode:• Why “just be yourself” is incomplete advice• The difference between authenticity and positioning• Why talent alone does not create demand• The real reason “saturated market” isn't the actual problem• The 3 secrets that actually drive bookings• Why clarity converts and confusion kills momentum• How to shift immediately---#
In this episode, Rahul Khona and Martin Ellard cut through the noise to talk about what actually helps photographers build smarter, more sustainable businesses today. From using SEO with intent rather than guesswork, to creating behind-the-scenes content that attracts the right clients, Martin shares hard-won insights from working across commercial, food, and wedding photography. We dig into why relationships matter more than trends, how to communicate personal style without over-explaining it, and why authenticity on social media isn't optional if you want clients who truly get your work. A candid, practical conversation for photographers who want to grow with clarity, not chaos.JOIN THE NINEDOTS MEMBERSHIPWe know that being a wedding photographer isn't just a job – it's your passion, your art, and your calling. This is part 2 of a 2 part episode series.Referrals are powerful. They convert well. They feel earned. They build trust instantly. And for many wedding professionals, they are the backbone of the business. But here's the uncomfortable truth:Referrals are a result — not a strategy. And if they are your only growth plan… you don't control your growth. In this episode of Grow My Wedding Business, we break down one of the most common myths in the wedding industry:“If I just do great work, word of mouth will take care of it.”For a while, it might.Until it doesn't.Inside This Episode:• Why referrals feel stable — but create hidden risk • What happens when a venue coordinator leaves or a preferred list changes • The danger of being dependent on other people's memory • Why referrals are downstream of positioning • The difference between accidental referrals and engineered partnerships • How to build referral stability instead of referral hope • Why scalable businesses diversify their lead controlWe also introduce an idea that changes everything:There's a difference between having referrals……and building Strategic Growth Partnerships. The Core Value Bomb:Referrals should be a pillar — not the foundation. When your business depends entirely on vendors, venues, or past clients sending you work…You are building on borrowed stability. And borrowed stability always has limits.Scalable wedding businesses are built on:• Clear positioning • Intentional partnerships • Multiple lead channels • Structured relationship cadence • Designed growth — not accidental growthThis episode is especially important if:• 60–80% of your bookings come from referrals • You've never systemized vendor relationships • You panic when one venue slows down • You rely on preferred lists • You've never diversified your lead flow • You feel stable… but not in controlReferrals are not the enemy.Dependence is.If you want to go deeper:

There's a mistake almost every wedding professional makes at some point. It doesn't look reckless. It doesn't look dramatic. It actually looks… responsible. You lower your prices “just for now.” You customize everything so no client feels uncomfortable. You say yes to requests that stretch you thin. You avoid boundaries because you don't want to seem difficult. And you tell yourself:“I'm just being smart.” “I'm just being accommodating.” “I'm just building my reputation.”But what if that version of “responsible” is actually fear?In this episode of Grow My Wedding Business, we unpack one of the most dangerous growth traps in the wedding industry:

It's a catch-up episode. We talk about combating the winter blues as wedding photographers, refining our goals and outlook for the coming season.
If your marketing feels exhausting… inconsistent… or ineffective — this episode might change how you see your business. Most wedding professionals assume their struggle is a marketing problem. They blame: • The algorithm • Social media reach • Website traffic • Ads that didn't convert • Referral sources drying upBut what if marketing isn't the real issue? In this episode of Grow My Wedding Business, we break down one of the most overlooked truths in the wedding industry:Marketing doesn't create clarity. It exposes the lack of it.If your message is fuzzy, marketing amplifies confusion. If your value is unclear, marketing amplifies indifference. If your positioning isn't defined, marketing amplifies noise. And that's why so many talented wedding pros stay stuck.Inside This Episode, We Cover:• Why copying other wedding pros backfires • The hidden danger of “I'll work with anyone” branding • Why using words like “luxury,” “custom,” and “stress-free” often mean nothing • How under-defined positioning leads to price objections • Why you keep attracting the wrong clients • How clarity simplifies pricing, content, and referrals • The difference between operating and building • Why marketing magnifies — it doesn't fixWe also talk about something most people won't admit:You might not need better marketing. You might need better decisions. The Core Value Bomb:When you are clear about: • Who you serve • What problem you solve • Why you're different • How you want to be rememberedEverything becomes easier.Pricing becomes confident. Content becomes obvious. Referrals become natural. Sales conversations become lighter.Clear businesses grow faster — not because they shout louder — but because they communicate better. This episode is especially important if you've been:• Posting consistently with little traction • Constantly explaining what you do • Getting inquiries that don't fit • Feeling price-shopped • Exhausted trying to “figure out marketing”You're not bad at marketing. You just haven't built clarity yet.If this resonates, there are two next steps:

I'm so excited to share an episode with you I wish I could have listened to her during my 12 year wedding business.I sat down with the incredibly talented Alicia Parks to talk about something we don't discuss nearly enough in photography: how to stay calm, energized, and grounded on high-pressure wedding days.Alicia made the leap from corporate America into photography, and she's built an amazing career by pairing beautiful work with a strong mindset and wellness practices. She is one of those people who brings a calm, steady energy into every room — and every wedding day.Alicia is a California-based wedding photographer whose work has been featured in California Wedding Day and Vogue. She was also named Northern California's Best Wedding Photographer by California Wedding Day Magazine, and she just landed her very first magazine cover, which hits Barnes & Noble this spring (and yes, she still blushes when she says it out loud). She's also a certified yoga instructor, which shows up in the way she approaches both life and photography. She shares a six simple habits she swears by on the wedding day to show up relaxed and ready, including showing up early — give yourself time to decompress, hydrating all day, and a stretching routine after the event. In this episode, we go deep into:• How Alicia stays calm and focused during long, intense wedding days• Why mindset and body care matter just as much as gear and technique• How yoga and mindfulness have changed the way she shows up for clients• Simple ways to help your couples feel relaxed and supportedIf you shoot weddings or portraits or any other type of photography that takes energy and focus, I.E. want a career that feels good as well as successful, I think you're going to love this conversation.Connect with Alicia at Info@aliciaparksphotography.comwww.aliciaparksphotography.comand snag her free gift here…a wellness program for wedding professionals. https://wispy-fire-22181.myflodesk.com/m1huiqb3jtConnect with Photography Business Coach Luci Dumas: Website Email: luci@lucidumas.comInstagram FacebookYouTubeNew episodes drop every week — make sure to subscribe so you never miss an inspiring guest or a powerful solo episode designed to help you grow your photography business.
