Dani Dufresne is an Emmy-winning producer and founder of The Aux Co, bringing over a decade of experience cleaning up creative disasters for major brands. In this episode, we explore why beautiful, expensive productions often deliver empty results and how production expertise at the beginning—not the end—of creative development changes everything.Dani's journey from film school to becoming a fractional executive producer reveals a fundamental flaw in how agencies and brands approach creative: they develop the idea first, then figure out how to produce it. This backwards process leads to blown budgets, compromised creative, and campaigns that look stunning but deliver nothing. The Movie Poster Test: If you can't explain your brand message in one sentence, your creative has already failedWhy agencies fail: The fatal flaw of developing creative without production expertise in the roomAI's brutal exposure: How artificial intelligence revealed $25 million in wasted programmatic ad spend from Q2 aloneCommunity vs influencers: Why borrowing audiences through influencer marketing is dying, and authentic community building is the futureThe burnout trap: How being the "problem solver" trains clients to only call you when things breakCinematic storytelling trends: The rise of MOS (music-only) filmmaking and why vintage/Y2K aesthetics signal authenticityFractional production model: How The Aux Co embeds expertise into agency teams without the overheadSimplicity wins: Why attention spans demand one-sentence messaging, not 50-page decksTimestamps:00:00 – Film school journey & production company origins02:47 – Transition from film editing to production work03:32 – Discovering producer role through problem-solving06:24 – Film development to advertising pivot07:36 – Agency vs production company dynamics08:36 – Founding The Aux Co as fractional production team10:50 – Building trust through small wins approach11:32 – Early involvement prevents costly mistakes13:11 – Results-focused creative evaluation14:40 – Longer-form branded entertainment opportunity15:54 – Community building over influencer borrowing17:52 – AI enabling real human connection work18:24 – Programmatic ad waste analysis ($25M Q2)19:28 – Vintage/Y2K aesthetic as authenticity signal21:01 – AI for rapid ideation & creative iteration22:43 – Cinematic storytelling & MOS filmmaking trend26:28 – Simplicity as ultimate creative power29:41 – Attention span decline requiring simple messaging31:33 – Evolution of director vs agency creative roles34:22 – Fractional executive producer model breakdown37:12 – Managing burnout & client selectivity38:23 – Letting go of problem-only clients40:56 – Partner dynamics & production software ventureWe explore the dramatic shift from influencer marketing to community building, the role AI plays in exposing waste and enabling genuine human connection, and why the most powerful creative ideas pass the "movie poster test"—explainable in a single sentence. If your brand message takes more than one sentence to explain, you don't have a creative problem—you have a clarity problem. Leadership today demands more than vision or authority—it requires trust. In workplaces where uncertainty and change are constant, the leaders who succeed are those who create environments where people feel safe, supported, and empowered to deliver their best work. As Damian Goldvarg shared in our recent conversation, effective leadership is not about control—it's about cultivating trust and accountability so that teams can thrive without micromanagement.Trust is not a soft skill—it's a strategic one. When leaders trust their teams, they create the conditions for psychological safety, innovation, and shared ownership. When that trust is missing, fear fills the void. Micromanagement takes over, creativity stalls, and engagement plummets. The foundation of effective leadership lies in understanding that trust enables accountability without micromanagement. Teams that operate from a place of trust know what's expected of them and have the confidence to deliver. They hold themselves accountable not because they're being watched, but because they're invested in the outcome.Trust Is a Choice We MakeTrust doesn't happen by default—it's a choice, an intentional decision we make every day in our interactions. Some people give it freely; others hold it close, shaped by past experiences or team dynamics. For leaders, understanding their own relationship with trust is the first step toward building it.When leaders choose to trust, they communicate belief in their team's competence and integrity. When they don't, that skepticism often gets mirrored back. The energy of distrust—whether it shows up in tone, body language, or behavior—can create a cycle of fear and disengagement. That's why the most effective leaders cultivate self-awareness and curiosity. Instead of asking, “Why did this go wrong?” they ask, “What's behind this?” or “What support might be needed here?” This shift from judgment to inquiry transforms how teams operate.Embrace Discomfort to Build TrustBuilding trust often means stepping into uncomfortable territory. Whether it's addressing performance issues, navigating layoffs, or discussing mental health, leaders must be willing to engage in conversations that stretch them.Avoiding discomfort may protect leaders from awkward moments—but it prevents growth. In contrast, embracing discomfort builds credibility. When leaders demonstrate that they're willing to have hard conversations with honesty and care, they model the very accountability they expect from others. As Damian noted, discomfort is not a signal to retreat—it's an invitation to deepen trust. Asking questions like “What's the worst that can happen?” or “What do you need from me right now?” helps to reframe fear into opportunity.Developing Your Inner Coaching VoiceLeadership requires a new kind of fluency—one rooted in self-reflection and emotional intelligence. The inner coaching voice is that quiet guide that helps leaders pause, assess, and respond rather than react. When we work with external coaches, over time we begin to internalize their guidance. That becomes our inner coach—the voice that reminds us to breathe before responding, to question assumptions, to align actions with values. Developing this inner voice helps leaders model what self-accountability looks like.It also helps leaders navigate emotional triggers and stay grounded when challenges arise. Leaders who can name their emotions, understand their impact, and stay centered during conflict create stability for others. They embody psychological safety in action.Human-Centered Leadership Is the FutureThe traditional command-and-control models of leadership no longer work in a world where people crave meaning, connection, and trust. Human-centered leadership focuses on people first—recognizing that performance follows well-being.This kind of leadership blends empathy, coaching, and emotional intelligence with clarity and accountability. It's not about being “soft”; it's about being real. It's about knowing when to step in and when to step back. It's about trusting your people enough to let them lead, and supporting them when they stumble. When leaders model trust, they give their teams permission to take risks, share ideas, and own outcomes. The result? Stronger performance, higher engagement, and cultures where accountability is shared, not enforced. The Bottom LineBuilding trust and accountability isn't a one-time initiative—it's an ongoing practice. It requires courage, curiosity, and compassion. It asks leaders to look inward before pointing outward. When we choose trust, we create psychological safety. When we embrace discomfort, we strengthen relationships. And when we lead with humanity, we build organizations where people—and results—thrive. If you're ready to explore what it looks like to build a Culture of Care in your organization—and the role the leader-as-coach plays in making that happen—reach out to learn more about our upcoming programs. Let's build workplaces rooted in trust, accountability, and care—together. This is a public episode. “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” - 2 Timothy 1:7When it comes to investing, wisdom means keeping emotions in check. Fear, greed, overconfidence, and regret can all derail sound decisions. Dr. Art Rainer joins us today to share four ways emotions ruin smart investing—and how you can avoid those traps.Dr. Art Rainer is the founder of the Institute for Christian Financial Health and Christian Money Solutions. He is a regular contributor here at Faith & Finance and the author of Money in the Light of Eternity: What the Bible Says about Your Financial Purpose.Don't Let Emotions Derail Your InvestmentsWhen it comes to investing, emotions can be your worst enemy. Allowing emotions to guide your investment decisions will most likely lead you to buy high and sell low. That's the opposite of building a solid retirement fund.So how can investors avoid the emotional traps that derail wise investing? Here are four common ways emotions can ruin sound investment strategies.1. Focusing on the Present Instead of the FutureThe stock market fluctuates daily, sometimes even hourly. Many investors get caught in the drama of short-term swings. But we must remind ourselves that we're not investing for today, we're investing for the future.Keeping your eyes fixed on long-term goals helps put temporary volatility in perspective. The market may dip, but over time, patience and consistency are what build wealth.2. Letting Fear Take ControlFear often shows up during a market downturn. In 2008, as markets plummeted, many investors panicked and withdrew their money. Later, most admitted that the decision was a mistake. In fact, steady contributions during down markets actually allow for the purchase of more shares at lower prices—a benefit to long-term investors. This is a process called “dollar-cost averaging”. Dollar-cost averaging is an investing strategy where you contribute a fixed amount of money at regular intervals, regardless of market conditions. Over time, this helps reduce the impact of market volatility by buying more shares when prices are low and fewer when prices are high.Fear may feel protective, but it usually leads to missed opportunities.3. Becoming Overconfident in a Rising MarketJust as fear hurts during downturns, overconfidence can be just as dangerous when markets rise. We saw this during the dot-com bubble in 2000 and again in 2020.As stock prices climb, inexperienced investors often rush in, assuming the market is “easy money.” They may chase riskier investments without understanding the dangers, setting themselves up for painful losses when the bubble bursts.4. Dwelling on RegretRegret over past decisions is natural, but it can tempt us to overcorrect. For example, selling too soon because of a bad memory from the last downturn—or holding too long trying to “make up” for past mistakes.Instead of being trapped by regret, let past experiences guide wiser choices without driving reactionary ones. The Bible tells us that saving is wise, but it also cautions against letting fear or greed rule our hearts. Wise investing requires patience, discipline, and trust in God's provision—not reactionary emotions.Get Help From a Certified Christian Financial CounselorFor those struggling with debt, budgeting, or saving for the future, Dr. Rainer recommends connecting with a Certified Christian Financial Counselor (CertCFC). These professionals are trained to help individuals and couples align their finances with biblical principles. You can search for a counselor in your area at ChristianFinancialHealth.com.On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:I'm trying to help someone who has three credit card debts that have gone to collections. What type of documentation should we request to confirm that the debt collector is legally entitled to collect the debt, especially since different agencies continue to contact us?I'm retired and have recently purchased a property with mold in the crawl space, which is impacting my health. Given my financial situation, would it be wise to borrow money to resolve the mold problem? My husband is about to turn 73, and we've placed all of our IRA funds into an annuity. If you've ever reached a point in your career where everything looked good on the outside but felt completely misaligned on the inside, you're not alone. For many high performers, there comes a moment when the work no longer feeds your values, and the question becomes: do I keep climbing this ladder, or do I start again somewhere new?In this episode I chat with Claire, CEO of Hands Across The Water, about what it takes to step away from a corporate career you love in order to follow a deeper calling. From leading national events at REA to rebuilding homes in Thai villages, Claire's journey is one of courage, resilience and redefining what success truly means. She shares openly about the moment she realised her work no longer aligned with her values, the IVF journey that tested her personally, and how she and founder Pete pivoted an entire organisation when COVID wiped out 80% of their fundraising overnight. Today, she leads a sustainable model that combines charity with social enterprise, creating bright futures for more than 170 children in Thailand. “ The relationships you'll build on this ride will become, lifelong friends. The connections you make, the conversations you have and what that then creates is just this experience that as someone looking to sign up for the ride, you go, actually, I get so much out of this because of The relationships and the connections.” - Claire BainesWe cover:The turning point when Claire realised her corporate career no longer aligned with her valuesHow she transitioned from running national events at REA to becoming CEO of Hands Across The Water charity in ThailandThe silent grief of IVF and infertility, and the mindset shifts that helped her continue leading with resilience and purposeWhat happened when COVID cancelled charity bike rides and wiped out 80% of fundraising overnightHow Hands Across The Water built a sustainable not-for-profit model by combining charity with social enterprise in Thailand and AustraliaWhy the Hospitality Training Centre and Agricultural Learning Centre in Thailand are giving children real employment pathways for the futureThe power of experiential fundraising and why doing a charity bike ride in Thailand builds community, resilience and lifelong connectionKylie's Resources:Property Management Growth School: https://courses.thatpropertymum.com.au/TPM-BDMSchool Digital Marketing School: https://courses.thatpropertymum.com.au/digitalschool That Property Mum Courses: https://www.thatpropertymum.com.au/courses/ The PM Accelerate Membership: https://courses.thatpropertymum.com.au/accelerate Book a Strategy Call with Kylie: https://calendly.com/kylie-tpm/coaching-call Kolmeo: https://kolmeo.com/ Sensor Global: https://sensorinsure.com/ https://sensorglobal.com/ HD&U Sales Bundle:

July 13th, 2025 | The Love of God | 1 John 3:1-10In this powerful message, we continue our journey through 1 John in our series The Love of God. Pastor Daniel Norris reflects on the birth of his first son—an unforgettable moment that revealed the depths of love a father has for his child—and uses that lens to help us grasp an even greater truth: the radical, undeserved, life-changing love God has for His children.“What kind of love is this?” John asks. It's a love that doesn't make sense—a foreign, otherworldly love that redefines who we are, shapes who we're becoming, and transforms how we live.We dive into 1 John 3:1–10 and explore three key truths:The love of the Father defines youThe love of the Father shapes your futureThe love of the Father transforms your lifeThis isn't about perfection—it's about progress. It's not about earning God's love—it's about living from the security of already having it. Whether you're struggling with your identity, wrestling with sin, or simply needing to be reminded that you are deeply loved and fully adopted—this message is for you. "You're not a slave. What makes Vanessa Lee one of the most sought-after medical aesthetics practitioners is her commitment to teaching and learning about all things beauty and science. During our conversation, Vanessa details her hands-on experience learning from beauty practitioners in Korea, including standing in for a model and receiving a treatment during a demonstration. Before her foray into the world of natural beauty aesthetics, Vanessa grew up bonding with her peers over beauty and skincare. Bonding over beauty carried into her professional life as she blended art and science to help her patients meet their beauty goals, while always looking like themselves. We regularly see her seamless work on our screens and feel her impact without knowing. In 2017, Vanessa coined the phrase “facial balancing” and began providing her clients the now wildly popular services before the rest of the public caught up. She teaches Beauty Theory courses to other professionals to help prevent cookie-cutter treatments that don't complement all face shapes. Our discussion is a mini-Beauty Theory course because Vanessa teaches us about procedures, her practice, and global industry norms. We learn about how facial shapes can determine how our skin will age, why K-Beauty is always light years ahead of the U.S., and how she supports clients in need of therapeutic support.Tune in as we discuss:Whether or not people should have micro-cosmetic treatments done or wait for a facelift in the futureThe best laser treatments for melasma and hyperpigmentation on dark skin and what they costAdvice on traveling to Korea for cosmetic procedures, including what Vanessa spent on her most recent tripRate, Subscribe & Review the Podcast on Apple Join the Naked Beauty Community on IG: @nakedbeautyplanet Thanks for all the love and support.
