Livne's lifelong fascinations in nature, biology, science, and philosophy developed into an intuitive material experimentation way of work during her degree studies at the Design Academy Eindhoven. Shahar brings life to unique stories through objects and installations centered around materials as carriers of narratives. The Intersection of Health, Technology, and Innovation: Insights from CES 2023Key Takeaways:Las Vegas serves as a unique hub for tech shows, offering unparalleled access to groundbreaking innovations. The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) showcased emerging trends in healthcare technology, particularly focusing on telemedicine and health-related wearables.Industry events like CES provide a platform for both exhibitors and media personnel, highlighting advancements across various tech sectors.Exploring the Vibrancy of Las Vegas's Tech CultureLas Vegas, renowned for its vibrant nightlife and bustling casinos, doubles as a significant epicenter for technology enthusiasts and professionals alike. One of the perks of residing in this electrifying city is the privilege of attending numerous tech shows, notably the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). As highlighted by Mike and Torya, who exude sarcasm and wit throughout their nightly podcast, Las Vegas hosts an impressive repertoire of events that attract media personnel, ensuring access to cutting-edge technology without the usual financial strain. "Basically, anything happening in Vegas, we can get press tickets to," quips Torya, emphasizing the advantageous position they enjoy as media representatives. This tech haven not only showcases the latest innovations but also well-kept insights from industry titans. CES, in particular, has grown substantially, spanning across multiple venues, including the Venetian, Park MGM, and the convention center. As Mike observes, the vast space accommodates displays by giants like Ford, portraying tech marvels over expansive plots reminiscent of football fields. However, CES offers more than grandeur; it bridges the gap between emerging technologies and end-users, demonstrating functionality and future potential.Health Tech Innovations: A Glimpse into the FutureThe realm of healthcare technology is undergoing a dynamic transformation, as evidenced by several exhibits at CES. Among the standout innovations discussed by Mike and Torya is the unmanned telemedicine portal, a marvel of modern tech enabling healthcare delivery without relying on traditional face-to-face consultations. "It was just amazing what it could do," Mike notes, highlighting its capacity for remote diagnostics and real-time testing. This innovation illustrates the profound impact of technology on healthcare, paving the way for more efficient, accessible medical services.Another intriguing piece of technology presented was a sleep apnea pillow, ingeniously designed to combat snoring using bladders and vacuum sensors. Torya and Mike dive into the technical nuances, acknowledging potential health concerns yet marveling at its promise to alleviate sleep apnea by adjusting a sleeper's position based on their snoring patterns. This innovation underscores a burgeoning trend towards consumer health tech products aimed at improving the quality of life. As Torya muses, "Two weeks seems a little long," regarding the training period required for the pillow's AI, reflecting a consumer's desire for seamless integration and rapid results.Wearable technology also occupied the spotlight. Devices like health rings offer real-time health monitoring, providing users with insights into their physical well-being. Mike resonates with the potential of these wearables, pondering how such devices, had they existed earlier, could have altered his lifestyle choices. "They should live longer and be healthier," he asserts, pointing to the proactive health management facilitated by technology.Unveiling Innovations Beyond the OrdinaryPreceding CES, the CES Unveiled media night offers a sneak peek into pioneering products, attracting a plethora of attention despite its exclusivity. The event, characterized by its intimate setting, allowed attendees to explore innovations unfettered by the usual crowds. Torya recalls a peculiar AI-driven Furby-like device, one among several playful yet technologically sophisticated products on display. This environment provides a unique forum for technologists to demonstrate inventions not yet mainstream, fostering an anticipation that extends beyond the convention's official start.CES Unveiled's variety didn't stop at toys. It encompassed practical tech, like a novel device promising universal compatibility during virtual meetings. Unlike traditional options that falter with proprietary software, this innovation champions seamless operability, capturing Torya and Mike's attention amidst a sea of intrigue. While reflecting on consumer frustrations with tech utility, the duo navigates a tapestry of experiences drawn from unveiled sessions, solidifying how pre-show events contribute significantly to the industry's knowledge ecosystem.Navigating Obstacles and Embracing UnpredictabilityCES isn't without its imperfections. Both Mike and Torya encounter unexpected challenges, from unaccommodating exhibitors to underwhelming product presentations. Reflecting on Narwhal's presence, characterized by aloof representatives, Mike laments, "They were less than interested in the product," gesturing towards a disconnect between the conceptual brilliance of a product and its promotional execution. This reality underscores an important lesson for exhibitors: effective engagement with potential consumers and media is crucial, particularly in environments teeming with competition and innovation.Beyond human interactions, the show tells tales of technical mishaps and logistical hurdles. "The problem with the tech…" remarks Torya, as she contemplates the long-term effects and prospects of fledgling technology. Observations of crowded venues and narrow passages are broached, with suggestions for better spatial arrangements as CES continues to expand. In their candid exchange, Mike and Torya reveal the intricacies of navigating large-scale events, balancing the excitement of discovery with the practicalities and hiccups of real-world execution.CES 2023 serves as a testament to the ever-evolving landscape of technology and its rippling influence on daily life. As society embraces these innovations, the fusion of health, convenience, and creativity promises to redefine what's possible, setting the stage for future advancements that continue to awe and inspire. Whether exploring the intimate avenues of a local conference or the vast expanses of a global summit, what remains undeniable is the passion driving the tech industry forward, reflecting humanity's unending quest to innovate and evolve.TimestampSummary0:00Exploring Tech Shows in Las Vegas as Media2:55Innovative Health Tech: Telemedicine Booths and Smart Sleep Solutions6:20Exploring Innovative Tech and Awkward Interactions at CES13:49Tracking Fat Burning and Weight Loss with Lumen Device15:00Exploring Tech Shows and Podcasting Adventures

Ep 91 – Ep 91 - Is Donald Trump a Time Traveler - Discussion of Troy Anderson's Book – The Trump Code: Exploring Time Travel, Nikola Tesla, the Trump Lineage, and America's FutureThe narrative of American presidential history harbors a chapter as strange as it is compelling, marked by the uncanny parallels between former President Donald Trump and a set of novels known as The Baron Trump Collection. These works, authored by the enigmatic Ingersoll Lockwood in the late 19th century, have sparked curiosity and speculation about their apparent prescience regarding the Trump lineage and its impact on the nation and the globe. This exploration, dubbed The Trump Code, ventures into the labyrinth of historical intricacies and the notion of destiny, probing the question of whether Lockwood's writings were a mere coincidence or a foretelling of events. In a thought-provoking conversation with journalist Troy Anderson, the discussion turns to the intriguing hypothesis of Donald Trump's potential as a time traveler. This theory draws connections to his uncle, John G. Trump, a distinguished electrical engineer, inventor, and MIT professor, whose involvement with the FBI's examination of Nikola Tesla's documents after the inventor's death adds layers of mystery. The government's seizure and John Trump's subsequent review of Tesla's extensive papers fuel the conspiracy theory that among these documents lay the foundations of time travel, which John Trump might have realized. The narrative takes a further twist with the mention of the Philadelphia Experiment, an alleged secret project linked to Tesla, where the USS Eldridge is said to have vanished in a mysterious green haze, only to materialize hundreds of kilometers away and then reappear at its original location. This episode invites listeners to delve into the depths of these claims and form their own conclusions about the veracity of such extraordinary assertions.Join The Community Follow us on:Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/quantumAIradioTwitter (X) at @EventHo14339589Instagram at @EventHorizonEmail at mpeter1896@gmail.com Subscribe To My Other Podcasts:Movie Reviews from the Edge - https://www.spreaker.com/show/movie-reviews-from-the-edgeThe Mark Peterson Show - https://www.spreaker.com/show/the_mark_peterson_show Support the Show Did you know you can support the podcast by joining the Spreaker Supporter Club? Professor Niki Harré, Head of the School of Psychology at the University of Auckland, and author of Psychology for a Better World: Working with People to Save the Planet and The Infinite Game: How to Live Well Together, shares her vision of resilient, compassionate, and creative communities as the foundation for sustainability. As discussed in her recent TEDx talk, Niki is particularly interested in promoting deep dialogue, constructive decision-making, and collective action for human and ecological flourishing. In this episode, she underscores how psychology—often overlooked in environmental work—is vital for fostering a people-focused approach and driving meaningful systems change.Niki emphasises the power of stories and behaviours to inspire action, advocating for narratives of hope and compassion rather than focusing solely on crisis. To combat negativity amid the constant messages of environmental doom and gloom, Dr Harré discusses the importance of working with others and sharing positive values, to build resilient communities. We also explore how common identity points can strengthen communication on sustainability issues, fostering understanding and commitment. At the heart of her philosophy is an “infinite game” mindset, where the goal is to keep what we most value in play, while inviting others to join – for it is together that we can create resilient social movements, sustain hope, and work toward a more generous, equitable world, with a flourishing environment and compassionate communities. In this episode, Niki discusses:What initially drew her to psychology and her passion for community well-being and sustainabilityThe shift away from community-based approaches as society moves more onlineHer two books, Psychology for a Better World: Working with People to Save the Planet and The Infinite Game: How to Live Well TogetherConcerns with “problem-focused” approaches in sustainability circlesThe concept of “copying” behaviours to foster a more sustainable futureThe impact of positive and negative emotions on facilitating change and transformationTips for staying emotionally buoyant in the face of apocalyptic narrativesThe critical importance of self-identity and living in accordance with one's valuesBeing a ‘tidy person', practising mindfulness, and taking extreme care with material resourcesMoving away from “us vs. them” mentalities and instead asking what kind of world we want to live inThe importance of engaging with young people in sustainability effortsHer “Secular Priest” experiment and what it taught her about communityHer parting thoughts for advocates and communities on building resilience and maintaining hopeTo view all the links to the websites and documents, visit the show notes on our website. Please support our work and enable us to deliver more content by buying us a coffee or becoming a member of Athletes for Nature.Follow us on Instagram and Facebook, subscribe to this podcast, and share this episode with your friends and family.

Moore Street – Rising to our FutureThe campaign to save the 1916 Moore Street Battlefield site and those iconic buildings and streetscape that are forever linked to the most important historic event in modern Irish history has reached another potentially decisive moment. In May, An Taoiseach Simon Harris announced the establishment of “a Taskforce to take a holistic view of the measures required to rejuvenate Dublin City Centre, north and south”. The stated objective is to make Dublin City Centre “a more thriving, attractive, and safe cityscape; and a desirable location to live, work, do business and visit.” The Taskforce is expected to report this month (August).International solidarity needed to end Israel's genocidal warBy the end of this week more than 40,000 people, mostly children and women, will have been slaughtered by Israel in the Gaza Strip. The Strip has been reduced to rubble and hundreds of thousands of Palestinians have been left without shelter, food, clean water and sanitation. This is an Israeli made humanitarian disaster.Day after day courageous journalists living under constant threat from Israeli snipers, drones and bombs continue to report Israel's targeted bombing of refugees; the massacre of families living in tents; and of children starving because Israel is preventing food and medical aid from entering Gaza. In recent days Israeli soldiers deliberately destroyed a water treatment plant in the Tel Sultan neighbourhood of Rafah and an MRI machine at the Turkish hospital in Gaza. This is genocide.Féile ArisIt is Féile An Phobail time again. Well done to Kevin Gamble and all the Féile team for once again bringing us a truly outstanding Féile programme. There was a time, now receding in memory for many people and never in the memory of countless more who weren't born in those troubled times, when August, and the anniversary of Internment, was marked by incursions of British troops and RUC into republican neighbourhoods and days of rioting and deaths and injuries.Féile An Phobail has replaced all that. It started following the killing in Gibraltar of three local people, IRA Volunteers Dan McCann, Seán Savage and Mairead Farrell at the behest of Margaret Thatcher in March 1988 and the deaths of others at their funerals. Our community was demonised in a tsunami of invective by the establishment media and our political opponents. Féile was a communal response to that.

Book Vs. Movie: "The Poseidon Adventure" (1972)(The Margos are taking this week off for the holidays. Please enjoy this 2019 replay!)At Book Vs. Movie, whenever people say, "Duh--the book is always better than the movie!" the Margos would say, "Yeah--have you ever read Jaws?" Well, now we have another book-to-movie adaptation that features a horrible, racist, sexist, homophobic, and misogynistic novel that became a fun hit film. Sportswriter Paul Gallico helped many stories become excellent films, including Pride of the Yankees, The Snow Goose, and the Musical Stage Carnival! He wrote over 40 books, numerous short stories, and dozens of T.V. and movie scripts. He began his career working for the New York Daily News sports desk and later became a prolific travel writer, spending 10,000 miles on the road in the U.S. for Reader's Digest. In 1969, he published The Poseidon Adventure to little fanfare. The tale of a wayward ship sunk while traveling to Africa features some of the most loathsome characters we have ever had the displeasure of reading. (The audiobook featuring narration by actor Dylan Baker makes it slightly more palatable.)Trigger warning: This story features a character being sexually assaulted who then comforts her attacker and wishes she was pregnant by him. (Seriously!) The movie by producer Irwin Allen and director Ronald Neame became an instant classic that began a slate of many disaster films in the 1970s. It would become the highest-grossing film of 1973, grossing over $125 million worldwide. It won an Academy Award for Best Special Effects and best original song "The Morning After." Our lead actor is Gene Hackman as Reverand Frank Scott, a renegade preacher who turns into a hero for the passengers of the S.S. Poseidon (partly filmed on the RMS Queen Mary.. At the time, he was a hot property after the success of The French Connection, and his performance was very passionate. Co-star Shelley Winters won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Belle Rosen--a middle-aged swimmer who gives her life to protect the survivors. (Spoiler!) Please listen to find out our real feelings between the book & movie, as this one will go down as one of our biggest takedowns of a horrible piece of work. In this ep, the Margos discuss:The writing career of Paul GallicoHow genuinely terrible this book is and why you should not read it.The special effects of the film and how it changed disaster films of the futureThe cast: Gene Hackman (Reverand Frank Scott,) Ernest Borgnine (Mike Rogo,) Red Buttons (James Martin,) Carol Lynley (Nonnie Parry,) Roddy McDowell (Acres,) Stella Stevens (Linda Rogo,) Shelley Winters (Belle Rosen,) Jack Albertson (Manny Rosen,) Pamela Sue Martin (Susan Shelby,) Eric Shea (Robin Shelby,) and Leslie Nielsen (Captain Harrison)Clips used:The Poseidon Adventure trailerA tidal wave hits the shitThe immediate aftermath of the ship turning overStella Stevens's "panties" scene"Lindaaaaaaaaaa!!!"Reverend Scott sacrifices himself for the good of the groupThe group is rescuedClosing music, "The Morning After," written by Al Kasha & Joel Hirschhorn and sung by Maureen McGovernJoin our Patreon page to help support the show! https://www.patreon.com/bookversusmovie Book Vs.
