Praying "stay with me" as you go about your business today might be the best prayer to pray.
On that walk to Emmaus, Jesus led what was probably the greatest Bible study ever... and the disciples' hearts were burning passionately as they heard him speak. We can still find that fire in the Word today - don't leave your Bible on the shelf friends, open yourselves to hear His voice through the written Word!
Jesus wants to walk with us and talk with us along the narrow way. It's a friendship, a journey. I hope you'll welcome him into your journey today.
Homily for Easter Sunday (April 4, 2021) Total Time: 6m33s
The disciples so revered Jesus because of His resurrection! It was their go-to line to prove He was the Messiah - that He rose from the dead. And so they went and told Jesus' story everywhere. We should do the same today!

Today we start by talking about the value of memorizing Scripture. Eric's been doing this for years, committing the passage he's preaching on that week to memory. I've also loved "hiding God's word in my heart" since the Navigators taught me The Topical Memory System in college. Then we dive into the final resurrection appearance of Jesus: the Ascension. Next week we'll get practical as we talk about the Holy Spirit in our lives and the gifts of love, joy, peace, patience...
Today we talk about getting back to church for the first time during the pandemic! Then we discuss Jesus' appearance to Paul and 500 others after His resurrection.
Welcome to this spoiler episode for The Tragedy of Mariam, the Fair Queen of Jewry by Elizabeth Cary - and it's very spoilery! The plot pivots in Act 3, with some news of Herod. He's ALIVE! Cue a host of reactions, happy and sad. With a plain text recording of the Act and chorus overview at the end. In the plain text: with Pamela Flanagan as Salome, Gillian Horgan as Mariam, Rob Myson as Sohemus, Andy Barrett as Ananell, Alan Scott as Silleus Man. Hosted by Robert Crighton - who's also playing Phaeroras - plus Beyond Shakespeare Irregular Alan Scott looking at the Chorus. BE WARNED - If you just want to listen to the play as a play, don't listen to the spoilers episodes. Come back later, or don't listen. However, if you find early drama hard to follow, then you will get a good grounding in the action here - especially as we may make changes or cuts for our final version! The plain text version is rough in hew, it will change and we produce it in part to hunt out errors. You can buy soooooo many editions of this play you can buy - just google them, seriously - there are also etexts and on YouTube various other looks at the play. There will be more details coming soon for all the various links on the website, but till then... For text, there's loads online - for example the Norton https://wwnorton.com/college/english/nael/noa/pdf/27636_17th_U03_Cary-1-51.pdf And for your facsimile type thing something like this is out there https://archive.org/details/in.ernet.dli.2015.176700/page/n21/mode/2up If you can't wait for our production there's the video of the Royal Holloway 1995 production, directed by Elizabeth Schafer https://youtu.be/TOYsjNcG93w Other online versions can and should be searched for. Today on Pastor's Confidential we discuss the opening of the church, some verses to help you get through excessive family togetherness :), and Jesus' appearance to Thomas.
John 20:1-18
Today we discuss Jesus finding Peter and the eleven in a locked room and sharing His peace with them (and some broiled fish!). It's a short episode: we recorded during "the witching hour." Parents, you'll know what we mean. If not, we explain it right off the bat.
Today we're covering the great story in Luke about when Jesus teaches His Word to two unknowing disciples as they walk to Emmaus. We also talk about how "church at home" is going and why we're not doing virtual communion at St. John.
