When love continues to let us down, it's easy to lose hope. After a divorce and painful breakup with a narcissist (who got hauled off to jail one random morning!), Cindy Drummond found herself alone, yet again. She wrestled, as we all do, with questions: How did I let this happen to me? Why didn't I trust my gut and leave him when I sensed something was off? How can I heal and move forward? The mother of two teenage daughters, Cindy knew she needed to model strength and resilience so she set up a plan for recovery including hosting a retreat for women—Women's Only Weekend (WOW)—and creating structure around her dating process by committing to going on 50 dates in 52 weeks. Join us to hear Cindy's story and learn from the wisdom she gleaned by embarking upon 50 dates in a year! She shares this and more in her book, Reflections from the Dating Pool. Marni and Chris reconvene to talk about the real-life dating lessons from the first new episode of Bachelor in Paradise 2021. Has Bachelorette Michelle been to a dating coach and does she know exactly how to find her perfect partner, probably not, but that is what makes this analysis useful and fun. Key takeaways from this episode: Why you shouldn't internet stalk before a date When it is time to save energy and focus on someone new Issues stemming from having perfect parents Respect boundaries and stop looking through his phone The Fine Line Between Being Yourself & Being Prepared for a Date [2:13] On Bachelor in Paradise, contestant Ryan is confronted by Bachelorette Michelle about some notes he has in his room. He had a folder that included information about Michelle and how to get attention during the season. Chris says it is normal for a guy to dig around the internet to find out more about someone he likes. Michelle confronted Ryan and he took a defensive stance instead of owning up to what his intentions were. Michelle said goodbye to him then and there. Marni says, if your ego gets exposed, fall on your sword because being defensive puts everyone on edge, and being honest about what happened will leave you with your peace of mind. Marni encourages women NOT to search the internet about a guy before she meets them in person. She recommends taking the opportunity to create a connection with the other person first. If you want to prepare for a date, instead of doing copious amounts of internet sleuthing, ground yourself and think about what you are curious to know about the guy. Save Your Time to Spend on the Good Guys [15:21] Michelle puts so much of her time and energy into a guy she knew wasn't going to be her guy, she doesn't have time to spend time with the other 28 guys who are interested in her. The lesson from this is that in real-life dating, we shouldn't waste energy on things we don't want or know won't work out anyway. Think of the time wasted trying to figure out why someone ghosted you or the unrealistic expectations of waiting for a call from someone you don't really like anyway. Focus on what we want to bring into our lives, not what we don't want. If you are dating it is important to remember the good guys are out there. Don't waste your time on the wrong ones. Respecting Boundaries versus Looking for Red Flags [23:12] Going through someone's phone can be hard to resist especially if you just slept over for the first time, but Marni says don't do it. If you want to know something about someone you should ask them directly. Looking through a bathroom cabinet or a bedside table and then making a snap judgment doesn't give the other person the dignity of telling you about something themselves. We find it hard to resist because our brains want to protect us from getting hurt. We may be thinking if we go through someone else stuff we will discover something that is a red flag but it is not a good vibe and certainly not a good way to start a relationship. If you are dating a guy who has been a perfect gentleman and there are no issues, stay out of his private zone. Make a Connection: Visit Our Website Join Our Dating Den Facebook Community Here! At this week's Round Table, Inica, Jack, Kenisha, and Madeline sat down with leaders of the National History Academy. President and co-founder Willam (Bill) Sellers noted that there are many STEM programs, business programs, and law programs over the summer, but not history programs. That's what inspired him to start the National History Academy: to give a voice to history and create academic opportunities for students to discuss our country's history. Guest Katie Smolar, a former teacher who is currently the director of educational programs for the National History Academy, underscored the need for entities like National History Academy to help students expand their historical and civic knowledge, since many textbooks have been outdated since SHE was in high school. Additional guests Ben Kellerhals & Dominique Castanheira, two past National History Academy scholars, shared how their love of history was nurtured by the National History Academy--and how they discovered the community they'd been looking for-- and are now pursuing college coursework in history. From case studies to field trips to debates, we discussed the challenges facing America. Throughout the episode, we discussed how we must rethink the way we teach history and civics and encourage thought, discussion, critical analysis, and interaction with others. History isn't just learning names and dates, it's also about putting yourself in historical situations and taking the diverse knowledge you learn from all kinds of different people to bring it back to your communities. The inaugural East Texas Showdown is over and now comes the podcasts! Hearing everyones stories after their rides as we shared food and beverages was a true pleasure, enjoyed by all. It was really probably the magic sauce that made this event special. I went to Austin shortly after the race and recorded 3 episodes with five guests and I look forward to sharing some of that post race fodder with you over the next couple of weeks. First up are Nick Ybarra (Showdown, 4th) and Kyle Gilbert (Showdown,. 6th). We meet the Wednesday after the race at Kyles workshop in Austin, which made for a cool backdrop to our conversation. On this episode Nick and Kyle share their experience on this years ETS. It was both of their first bikepacking race and they had different approaches. For example, Nick wore sandals for, had rim brakes, carried very minimal gear, and no aero bars. Whereas, Kyle was clipless, with disc brakes, ran aerobars, and lived on crackers. It created some good conversation about different approaches to the same course. It was a lot of fun for me to get to hear about my event from their perspectives. I had all kinds of concerns as a first time racer director with a brand new route, but as I heard more and more stories like these all of my concerns have been squashed. The feedback I got from participants was overwhelmingly positive. In fact, a Spring date was highly requested and we are happy to make that happen. Dates coming soon! These episodes aren't possible without support. Thanks to this weeks supporting partners: Kuat - They just released the Piston Pro X, and it's badass. Today's episode is a conversation with Rebekah Campbell about her personal story of searching for love and happiness. On the outside, Rebekah Campbell has an enviable life. She is founder of hot Sydney startup Posse.com, writes a popular blog and gives inspirational talks at conferences for female entrepreneurs. But when she turns off the light each night, she is alone and terrified of the future. She knows that what's important to her isn't money or startup glory or social media followers. She wants love. She wants a family. And she is stuck. She hasn't been on a date in ten years. She's too embarrassed to list herself on the internet and can't bear the risk of getting rejected. She decides to act. She'll take the tactics she's learnt building companies and apply them to finding a man. Her epic journey will take her on dates with 138 different men in Sydney, New York and San Francisco, while at the same time confronting the immense challenges of launching a business. She'll face exhaustion, humiliation and heartbreak; she'll meet some strange and dangerous characters. And she will strip herself of the ego and expectations that have been holding her back. She will not stop. 138 Dates proves that the end is always worth the effort. Rebekah Campbell is the co-founder of Hey You, a mobile app used by more than one million Australians to order and pay at cafes. RICH CELENZA talks about how he hates having a set schedule. He knows how set schedules are definitely needed when it comes to getting certain things completed. He also knows how set schedules help so many people accomplish things that they want to accomplish. But, Rich also thinks sometimes people create schedules that limit them from possibly getting more done. By changing up their schedule or being more flexible may make it so they can go or do the things they always wanted to do.

Go to bitly.com/humanemarketingworkshop to sign up *** Hello Humane Marketers! I'm hosting an Encore of the Marketing Like We're Human workshop. Last time I gave you way too little notice, so I decided to host an encore. In fact, I enjoyed the experience of these workshops so much last month, I decided to run them on a bi-monthly basis going forward. It's a 75 minute human experience in which you can expect good content, real humans and two free tools, one of them you already know, which is the 7Ps of Markeing. I'll start with an explanation about why so many of us dislike marketing - and why we need to come back to doing 'Marketing Like We're Human' We'll pause to 'see' our fellow Humans on the call and acknowledge each other. I know having the video on all day can be exhausting, but if you can turn it on even just for this moment, that would be amazing. Then I'll share two simple and yet amazing free tools you can use to find your way back to marketing your business in a way that's aligned with your values. Both tools are free and available as a download on my site. We'll work through the first 3 Ps of the HM mandala and then I'll let you finish them on your own. In the 2nd part, we'll take a detour into the human brain, to help you see the importance of using more of your right brain and making marketing more fun & joyful! We'll end with a creative exercise to imagine this new way of marketing for ourselves. In this part we'll divide into breakout rooms so we can each share and learn from each other. I'm not offering a replay because I want you to really experience it. So hopefully you can join us Go to bitly.com/humanemarketingworkshop to sign up
Today we are discussing SoulMates! GOOGLE defines SoulMate as a person ideally suited to another as a close friend or romantic partner. Now, this is not how we typically hear the term soulmate defined. It's usually a warm and mushy definition that we make up that describes how the stars will align in a person's eyes, or how birds sing at a person's name etc. Is the man you married your soulmate or did you just have a string of really good dates? Let's talk about it!
Marni and Chris connect to extract real-life dating lessons from the season finale of Bachelor in Paradise. Unexpected break ups, playing the victim after heartbreak, and saying I love you first add to the intrigue and appeal as we say goodbye to yet another season. Key takeaways from this episode: How to tell what a guy is really thinking How to break up well Staying out of victim after a breakup When to say I love you Can someone truly change? Is He Ready for a Relationship? [2:07] At the beginning of the season, Marni and Chris agreed that James seemed like a good dude. When he started dating Anna everyone including her, thought it was a good solid connection. But as soon as Anna declared she wanted to follow through with a relationship, James snappishly said he wasn't in the right headspace for a relationship right now and took off with Aaron. Marni says James is emotionally unavailable and he may never be satisfied. When producers asked, he couldn't pinpoint what was missing in the relationship with Anna. Likely, no one will ever be the right one. Even if you are looking for a long-term relationship, if you don't do the work you will get the same results. Aaron, who quickly rode off into the sunset with James, was dating Tia. His breakup with Tia was not the decent goodby that James gave Anna. Marni says it mirrored how 5th graders breakup, instantly and carelessly. Aaron feigned interest in Anna when answering to the producers but never fully committed because he is emotionally unavailable. Is a guy really ready for a relationship? Do his actions match his words? Does he hang out with grown-up children? Does he have long-term relationship goals? If you are of a certain age and claim you want to be in a relationship — invest in it and be committed to it. Natasha was a great example of what it looks like to date maturely. How to Breakup Well [15:36] The shocking breakup of the show was Abigail and Noah. Abigail told everyone she was in love with Noah but never mustered up the courage to tell him. She created something in her head instead of focusing on the facts. She seemed more interested in playing the victim to prove herself right rather than starting a relationship. By telling the woe-is-me story you stay in a woe-is-me situation. How to stay composed during a heartbreak? Be aware of how you are feeling Clearly articulate your feelings Be emotionally intelligent enough to manage your emotions During a break up emotional meltdowns can happen. The important part is how you repair the situation afterward. It is easy to fall into unhealthy defaults if you don't stay mindful. The universe will keep showing you what you need to learn. Feedback and support from a relationship expert can help. Who Should Say I Love You First [33:40] Marni is open-minded about who should say I love you first. As long as it comes from a place of wholeness, not from a place of fear. The guy doesn't need to say it first. Let go of the rules. Serena decides to tell Joe she loves him. He admits he was going to tell her later in the date. Joe is an authentic guy who dates maturely. Make a Connection: Visit Our Website Join Our Dating Den Facebook Community Here! Imperfect Foods is a DTC brand that was founded to fight food waste by finding a home for the imperfect or “ugly” fruits and vegetables that farms couldn't sell to grocery stores. This is one of Jonathan's favorite subjects and we will be diving into how you can reduce food waste in your own home, Imperfect Foods efforts to create a sustainable business while talking through the role a creative director has and how Reilly uses creativity to educate consumers. ReilIy has had an eclectic career from cooking tacos in food trucks to apprenticing through Europe and working at places like Mission Chinese food in SF. Following his passion for food he ultimately found that the lifestyle as a chef wasn't sustainable. Thereafter he pivoted to event planning and content marketing as a way to marry reading, writing and storytelling with his love for food. After he joined Imperfect, he learned to look upstream. It was eye opening to see all the stuff in the walk in fridge and think about how farmers would have outcomes of throwing away due to not being able to distribute it. All of us make choices about how we use food in our homes. We can all be that bridge between people who care about waste reduction part time and full time. Showing people at home, there's some common sense ways you can prevent waste before it starts. His role is the translator and storyteller between different worlds where customers can understand the scope and how we can all push ourselves to make a bigger impact. He talks about how 40% of waste in the supply chain happens in our homes. The top thing is shopping with intention and a plan. If you look at things that go to waste, its impulse buys -- hopeful kale purchasing. He advises to plan with the shelf life of your ingredients in mind. Prioritizing that over what you feel like eating for dinner. Herbs go to waste and it makes sense; they're tender, fragile and the recipe usually doesn't' call for the entire bunch so what do you do with parts you can't fully use? He also advises to clean your fridge at least once a month and to get comfortable with rescue recipes that absorb ingredients from other recipes that can collect the motley crew of odds and ends.Early in his career, he was focused on “asset up” - executing at a velocity to keep telling a story one piece of content at a time. Over time he has realized that it should be strategy-down. It's tough because it takes people. A well-balanced team of strategic, and organizational thinkers, allows for awesome cross channel pushes. It takes more time and energy but allows for more impact. One part of his strategy is he tries to remember it's a two way street - it should be about us learning. When something doesn't get as much engagement, it's a great sign to learn, iterate and adapt. When you get comments from the community, that's free data and learnings as a creative to run with and lean on.Their open kitchen series is filled with amazing, thoughtful questions which pushed him to learn and solve. What are actual pain points and not just what are my goals for them to hear from them. It's about listening as much as it is a plan. Unfortunately, they don't teach you a lot about the environment in school. He learned relatively recently what all the numbers on the bottom of plastic bottles mean. Unfortunately, not all plastics are easily recyclable. We learned recently we need to educate people. Knowing what's in what you're consuming is unfortunately a really opaque landscape.Democratizing knowledge is fun to do as a mission driven brand. On the flip side, it's frustrating - companies can make it so hard for people to know what to do with materials that are hard or impossible to recycle. It's on YOU, consumers, to figure out what to do with them. It's hard to have to wade through it all. How do you make the right choice an easier choice to make? Real power is not to choose from a menu of options, but to create a menu of options. The real power is the people who choose what is or is not at the store. Stuff that is fantastic isn't even making it to the stores when it can/should be sold at retail.Their sustainability team has been exploring giving people a better default option. We're currently more or less the only company that makes it free/easy to recycle from your doorstep. Between delivery and packaging, they are exploring ways to cut that down. Insulated liners and gel packs are things you can't reuse around the house. They wanted to liberate people from gel pack freezer tetris and did an 80/20 analysis. They found it was these that are the biggest headache so after drop off they will take back the packs. The win was making a circular system despite how complicated it was. It requires customers to be meaningfully involved every week. But, a huge win to offer a better default option that closes the loop on a wasteful thing. They realized a bigger opportunity to make a scalable impact if they could be a full grocery store. They saw it as a chance to be a more meaningful part of customer's lives and shift from a niche thing to add to shopping experience to being a majority par. It's a balance to show that we're broadening and enhancing as opposed to changing. What is the throughline and how can I tell some new stories about our enhancements but that the DNA of our company is alive and well and intact. A huge reason food goes to waste in people's homes is due to dates -- dates are conservaate estimates of peak quality, not hard and fast predictions of food safety. Dates are usually designated at the state level. That, plus best buy, use by, sell by. When youre talking about canned beans or dried quinoa, evoo etc -- the date is one piece of data, but it's not the only or most important one. Use your common sense, best judgement and ability to research as well as senses to tell if it's still good to eat.

Marni and Chris join forces to dissect the real-life dating lessons extracted from the 3-hour case studies openly provided by Bachelor in Paradise. The contestants may be on TV, but they date just like the rest of us. Key takeaways from this episode: What to do when something feels off and a guy pulls away How to stay positive when you feel rejected Dating long-distance and making plans for the future Catching someone in a lie What To Do When Something Feels Off [2:06] When something feels off, it can be a tough thing to decipher. Is it your intuition speaking out? Are you imagining it? Or, is self-sabotage rearing its ugly face. Does the other person feel it too? In the show, Kenny feels that something is off with Mari yet he says nothing. Mari on the other hand feels that something is off with Kenny because he is acting differently after saying ‘I love you'. Marni says as soon as a relationship starts to get deep, people get vulnerable but then second guess the feelings they just shared. Chris adds that it is hard for a guy to admit they are insecure or scared about how a relationship is going and to have relationship conversations. The faster you can tell your partner something feels off, the better. Telling your friends or therapist doesn't get you closer to understanding what is going on. Staying Positive When You Feel Rejected [11:59] James, McKenna, and Abigail all have experience with being rejected but they all handle it differently. James is confident, resilient, and seems not to take rejection personally. When Aaron tells McKenna he is working through some stuff, she immediately lashes out and calls him a jerk. And, Abigail just sabotages herself by acting coy when Noah openly shares his feelings for her. If you take too long to lean in, someone with self-worth may not wait for you. Abigail set herself up. She didn't ask Noah clear questions when they began dating. Even after Noah breaks up, Abigail doesn't take the opportunity to ask why. If a guy tells you what he is feeling, if it's not what you want to hear, don't blame him. If you want a clear answer, ask a clear question What To Do When You Catch Someone in a Lie [34:45] If you are casually dating someone and you catch them in a lie if they are your person, check-in and ask them what's up. If they are not your person, Marni says you don't need to confront them. On the show, a guy told a lie to Chelsea and she didn't confront him with it because she probably didn't care enough about him to enough to say something. Ladies, if you are in a relationship you have to address it. You have to find out why. Chris admits to lying about his age when online dating to outwit the algorithm. You're a quality woman with high standards. You swipe right on only 5% of men. You have hundreds more swipe on you. What are you missing here? In this Love U Podcast, I'm going to answer those questions and more.
As a beginner gardener, the term frost dates are something you will hear or see often. Every seed catalog or website you come across will have these two terms First Frost date and last frost date. These terms are essential for gardeners. Misinterpret or neglect this information, and you risk reduced or decreased harvest, stunted growth, or even worse, killing your plants.
