In 2001, Pastor Robert Morgan's awesome little book The Red Sea Rules showed up on bookshelves, telling the story of the Israelites at the Red Sea. The Lord parted the waters for them, showing us that the same God who leads us into difficulty will lead us out. But do you know God parted the waters for His people a second time? Forty years after the Red Sea experience, God divided the swollen waters of the Jordan River and led His people into the Promised Land He had prepared for them. There are more principles for us to grab onto and apply to our lives from this snapshot out of Scripture. Robert joined us this morning to talk about The Jordan River Rules! https://www.amazon.com/Jordan-River-Rules-God-Given-Strategies/dp/098849664X See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Robert J. Morgan is leader of Robert J. Morgan Ministries, a nonprofit organization whose goal is to energize God's people with a greater understanding and appreciation of the Bible and Christian heritage. He served in pastoral ministry for over 40 years, and is a bestselling author with over 35 books in print. He's been with us several times on Crosstalk discussing some of his books such as, Then Sings My Soul, The Red Sea Rules, The Jordan River Rules, 100 Bible Verses That Made America, The 50 Final Events in World History and Great is Thy Faithfulness. He's with us today discussing his book, Calm Your Anxiety- Winning the Fight Against Worry.--Pastor Morgan began by noting that there are numerous kinds of anxiety and every one of us is affected. Anxiety comes in the form of being tense, there's worry, anxiousness, we fret and sometimes our minds are obsessed with various fears. In short, anxiety is a dis-ease of the mind when we are troubled. --He provided numerous examples from Scripture to help all of us in our battles with anxiety, particularly in the area of knowing what it truly means to rejoice in the Lord. Examples he referenced included Hannah, David, Habakkuk and Paul. However, there's more as rejoicing in the Lord means rejoicing in God's presence, pardon, provision, protection, guidance and his promises for the future. --The key is moving from the what -ifs- of life to the what -is.- You can do that when you discover how Scripture views the following 7 habits that we should develop- dependence, nearness, gratitude, thinking, influence, gentleness and peace. --So get ready to learn how to put worry and anxiety in its place.

Have you ever heard of a "dummy tank"? No, it's not a place where you stick your little brother or sister. During WW1 and WW2, armies on both sides would use decoy tanks to try and fool the enemy into thinking they were moving in one direction while they were really amassing a lethal movement elsewhere. This was famously done in North Africa to draw forces away from Normandy during WW2. Sometimes, you need to do the unexpected and benign in order to unleash the dynamic and potent. In this final rule of the Jordan River Rules, God determined to show his people that he wanted their obedience more then their swords; he wanted their faith, more than their forces. He was building a case for them - and for us - that it is not by might or by power, but by His Spirit that he will accomplish what he attends. Listen in to this fun conversation over an unusual "conquest".

If anyone knew of the shadow of the complexities and paradoxes of our Universe, it was Albert Einstien, who was quoted - quite astutely, I might add - as saying: "Once you can accept the universe as matter expanding into nothing that is something, wearing stripes with plaid comes easy." If the Jordan River Rules tell us anything, it's that there are things beyond our control and beyond our understanding, but we still have to take responsibility of our part in the matter. Pretending that our choices doesn't matter is foolishness; pretending that only our choices matter is madness. We need to recognize that God, who created the Universe, is powerful enough to create it, and powerful enough to get us through our own Jordan River. Check out this fascinating talk with Sean and Rick.

On July 20, 1969, the LEM or Lunar Excursion Module, Eagle, touched down on the moon. The LEM had two parts: the top part was the ascent stage that lifted off after their mission was over, to join up with Columbia, and head on home. The bottom part, the descent stage became a permanent structure on what became Tranquility Base. NASA, knowing a bit of decorum was in order, placed a plaque on one of the landing legs, reading: "Here men from the planet Earth first set foot upon the Moon July 1969, A.D. We came in peace for all mankind." It is of course there to this day. Untouched and unvisited, but unforgettable because of what it means. In this segment of the Jordan River Rules series, Rick and Sean discuss what it meant for the Israelites to build a monument of his Grace ... and how that applies to disciples, today! Don't miss this discussion!

Psalm 32:8 gives an incredible promise: "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you." How about it: do you believe God meant that? Do you believe he can tell no lies and that he'll do just that? This morning, did you walk out the door counting on the fact that he would do that? As we reach the fifth marker of the Jordan River Rules, we discover that God will guide us to the place we've never been before, and he's delighted to show us the way! In this podcast, Sean and Rick consider God's wonderful plans and purpose, and why we can trust him to get us there.

It seems that great things happen when there are two men and a woman: Lewis, Clark and Sacajewa; Shaggy, Scooby, and Velma; Sponge Bob, Patrick, and Sandy ... even Superbowl LVII with the Kelce's: Jason, Travis, and Donna (go Chiefs!). And as we examine this week's portion of the series, The Jordan River Rules, we see that pattern again: two spies and a prostitute! Wait - what? Yes, that's right, and believe it or not, finding God-ordained help like this has advantages that echo throughout the ages and even affect the Church in a powerful way! Curious? You should be! A guy named Arthur Ungnome said "Never let the past spoil your present or govern your future." I don't know who Arthur is, but he's right, don't you think? And I'm so glad that when it was time for Moses to let go of the riegns and let Joshua take over, he did so knowing the best was yet to come. And we saw it happen! It's literally history. But what about you? Do you believe that - while the past can inform us - it's time to let it go and move forward toward the future? It's time to put it in the rear-view mirror - then break off the mirror. Make sure you don't miss one episode of The Jordan River Rules series!
