"We, redeemed sons of Adam, by faith in Jesus Christ, are called heirs of God and joint heirs with Jesus Christ." Pastor/Dr. David Murphy begins to tell us about the inheritance that believers have from God. This sermon's focus is on the distinct people who are qualified for this inheritance, the children of God. Pastor Murphy will also share how this glorious, promised inheritance should be a controlling thought in our evangelism and counselling ministry.
Pastor/Dr. David Murphy reminds us of the Holy Spirit's work in the believer's life and eternal security, as seen throughout Romans chapter 8. In verse 16, we see that the Holy Spirit places the believer in the body of Christ as God's son. As we study verse 16, Pastor Murphy addresses four points:1-The misconception that the Holy Spirit is not a person, because of the grammar used.2-The misapprehension about the text that torments believers, because they haven't experienced a supernatural voice to confirm that they are a child of God.3-The Biblical meaning, that the Spirit brings us to persuasion that we are the sons of God, and 4-A practical word about security: that your assurance may vary, because the human spirit is imperfect on Earth, but the Holy Spirit will bring you back.

Pastor/Dr. David Murphy continues to show us that the believer is a son of God, and a son of God can enjoy the assurance of eternal security as God's heir. We'll continue to see what it means to being a son of God (4 of 7 ways):4-God protects us,5-He provides for us as His children,6-He is always ready to listen and grant an audience with Him, and7-God leads His sons and daughters by a-acting on the mind, b-working on our hearts and desires, and c-by acting on our will.
In this message, we are going to jump into a three weeks series covering the life of one my favorite Biblical characters. We get to meet him as a teenager and my hope is that his story will encourage and inspire those who are in their teens and early twenties. But maybe not in the way you would expect... Our main character is Joseph, and he was definitely going to do great things. Right after some really terrible but necessary things. If you get a chance, read Genesis 37 and then buckle up. Pastor Dr. Aaron Weisser

Original airdate: 10/14/25: Mary welcomes first time guest to the podcast Pastor/Dr. Richard Schmidt to discuss current events. Richard has been an avid student of the Word of God for over 45 years. After giving his life to Christ during a Chicago revival meeting, he immediately immersed himself into evangelism and the study of Scripture, graduating with both a B.S. and M.A. in Pastoral Theology/Christian Education. Early in his ministry, Rich traveled with Evangelist Joe Boyd and preached in various churches and venues, including Chicago's Pacific Garden Mission. Upon college graduation and ordination, Rich and his wife, Valori, moved to Milwaukee, WI to church plant. After the church plant was successfully merged with another, Rich joined the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office to support his young family, while simultaneously serving as an Assistant Pastor. He is currently the pastor of Union Grove Baptist Church just south of Milwaukee and an in-demand speaker. Today we chat about the rampant lawlessness in our nation and how we got here politically and prophetically. We also look at the current peace initiative in Israel, and what are we to expect when there’s a victory lap going on, but we all know that Israel’s enemies haven’t truly had a change of heart. We talk about AI, and its troubling encroachment into Europe. China we expect to be a police state, but why are other nations looking so similar? A full hour with a very sharp brother in Christ. Pastor/Dr. David Murphy continues to show us that the believer is a son of God, and a son of God can enjoy the assurance of eternal security as God's heir. We'll see that Scripture seeks to 1-give absolute certainty that you can know that you belong to the Lord and 2-seeks to destroy false assurance on those who are not truly saved through a theological test, a moral test, and social test. We'll then see what it means to being a son of God (3 of 7 ways):1-God loves us in a special, peculiar way,2-He plans for us, and3-He chastens us.
Pastor/Dr. David Murphy began answering questions pertaining to a believer desiring to pursue a counselling degree at an online Bible college: What are things to note when speaking to an advisor for online colleges? Can a non-denominational Bible college be trusted? Is it better to choose a school that aligns with your denomination? Is a course on demons something to be suspicious about? Other questions were: What is meant by the Tabernacle of David from Acts 15:16? Did Jesus go to India during his childhood years to study? Can a pastor be served a lawsuit for continuously preaching about individuals who he no longer communicates with? Is it normal for a church to have the pastor's next of kin be in line to be the next pastor? Was Jesus the spirit brother of Lucifer? What is the meaning of Proverbs 29:18? Who are the 'other sheep' of John 10:16? Listen as Pastor/Dr. David Murphy discusses these and other listener questions.

I find it curious to observe what seems to be an increasing public confidence of professing Christians in the celebrity/media/political worlds. In the last few years it has become more acceptable, even commendable, to own your faith convictions in public spaces. Along with this I have observed a related trend. Notable public personas aggressively feud with other famous figures online, while both parties make claims to the same faith and religion as the driver of their convictions. I am perplexed not just because their viewpoints are so diametrical, but because the tone of these spats is often crude and malicious. There is an aspect of this trend that I find heartbreaking. As more public figures make faith claims, there seems to be an increasing number of them making such claims while living lifestyles at odds with their basic faith tenets. And I find myself troubled by what seems to be a very public yet misleading example of what it means to follow Jesus. On the one hand, you have passages like 1 Corinthians 4:5 "Therefore do not go on passing judgment before the time, but wait until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the things hidden in the darkness and disclose the motives of human hearts; and then praise will come to each person from God." Paul argues that we simply don't know the condition of another person's soul and we should be content to let the Lord reveal it on His timeframe. But in Matthew 7:15-16 where Jesus says "Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes, nor figs from thistles, are they?" So there are bad people with bad intentions who profess the name of Jesus and we should be aware of their falsity and avoid it!What to do, what to do. In this message, we jump into a two-week series titled "What is a Christian?" This week I want to look at what the Bible says about the internal reality of a Christian or a "Christ follower." What should we expect of the unseen world of the soul? Looking forward to examining some hard questions together with you. Pastor Dr. Aaron Weisser

I have an assignment for you to complete before diving into this message. Grab your Bible and find Luke chapter 19. The story known as Christ's Triumphal Entry begins in verse 29. Take a minute and read that story to refresh your perspective. I have been reflecting on this story for a few weeks now after reading it again. Something caught me by surprise that I had not caught before, something weighty. The same story is referenced in John 12, beginning in verse 12. I don't think the people are celebrating what they think they are celebrating, and a careful read of the story is providing new clues as to what is really going on. Which leads me to my question for this week: As we celebrate Jesus, do you know for sure what you are celebrating? Pastor Dr. Aaron Weisser
Did Jesus exist in the beginning or when He was born? In John 20, if Jesus had not yet ascended to the Father, then how could He have committed His spirit to the Father? What are Biblical responses that a believer can have when dealing with false accusations? When is it appropriate to ignore or address false accusations? Is it wise to remain in the life of a person with an ugly personality for the Gospel? How should one proceed whenever their past is thrown in their face by others? Did the early Christians practice communion in Acts 2? If Jesus existed in the beginning, then why the virgin birth and crucifixion? What are some things a counselor should go over before a new counselling session? What are the factors behind counselling failures? Is counselling a spiritual gift or learned? In what way was the tabernacle a prophetic type of Christ? Was the death of Christ retroactive in its effects? Listen as Pastor/ Dr. David Murphy discusses these and other listener questions.

If you have ever felt unseen, overlooked, or disregarded, this message is for you. Before we study together, take some time to read through Genesis 16 and 21. If I was Abraham and I was writing my autobiography, I probably would have opted to leave this section out. It's pretty rough. But buried there, amidst the rubble of bad decisions and abusive actions, is God, aware and present. And not only aware and present, but including the unseen in the story of His redemptive plan.I love this about our God and I look forward to digging deeper with you. Pastor Dr. Aaron Weisser

There is a little story about me that I want to tell you now. It has taken me 20 years to work up the courage. Don't judge me too harshly…Shortly after moving back to town in 2005, Jenny and I were reestablishing connections and friendships here in Homer, Alaska, the town of my birth and my heritage. We had just had our second child, I was in my first full-time ministry role, and life was good! I had recently been introduced to wonderful world of coffee and had a daily habit of getting a 12 oz vanilla breve from Captain's Coffee. (I know, that's an unsustainably large amount of fat and sugar, but that's a different story for a different day.) A good friend of ours was a barista at the time and she was an absolute pro at making the drink just the way I liked it. After about a year of living here, our barista friend relayed to me an interaction she had with another employee of that fine coffee establishment. “Who is that guy you're friends with? The one that never smiles and doesn't tip.” The reason her comment was so surprising… and jarring, is because I knew myself to be such a happy and generous person. How dare this person, someone I barely know, make such an obviously incorrect assessment of my character! And that based on so little so information! The injustice of it all.In my defense, we had no money, and I was smiling on the inside. But this was one of the first times I had to confront the possibility that maybe my relationship with Christ wasn't manifesting in the way I thought it would. Maybe my “belief” was limited to the space between my ears. Or worse, maybe I was a hypocrite! In this message, we jump into Genesis 12, the story of Abram. We're going to examine the nature of true faith and why it matters.Pastor Dr. Aaron Weisser

I have been thinking and praying about this message for quite some time. It is one of those teachings where I feel the weight early in preparation, as my heart wrestles with what it means for all of us.In this message, we will be in Genesis 5, 10, and 11:10 to 32. Even if you grew up hearing Bible stories and know many of the early Genesis accounts, these chapters may feel less familiar. They can even raise an honest question: why are these passages here at all? That question matters, because the message in these chapters is deeply significant for our church. My prayer is that, as we walk through them together, we will see more clearly what God is saying and respond with open hearts.Pastor Dr. Aaron Weisser

Caught red-handed has to be one of the worst feelings in the world. You did it, there's no denying it, you've been caught. Some of my earliest childhood memories are of getting caught. There is such a clarity in that moment.Up until you're caught, all of your self-deceptions make sense, at least to you. But when you're caught, it all falls apart very quickly. The obvious badness of the bad thing you got caught doing sets in pretty powerfully. And then there's consequences; The bad things that I now owe because of the bad thing that I did. We all want to negotiate consequences. As bad is it may be, we would like to make the case that there was good reason and we are not as to blame as others might think. Also, can you go easy on the consequences? And all of this is part of God's grace toward sin. In this message, we look at God's grace in the midst of painful consequences. Before diving in, take a minute to read through Genesis chapter 3 again.Pastor Dr. Aaron Weisser
I am THRILLED to be launching into the book of Genesis again as we kick off a New Year! There are so many foundational truths regarding our purpose, our design, and all the other big WHY questions related to our existence. Take some time to read through the first chapter of Genesis. This is the question I want you to ponder on during this message: If you were in charge, how would you plan for us to spend our days?? What would life look like if you were the Creator of all things!? Pastor Dr. Aaron Weisser

The discourse presented herein delves into the intricate tapestry of Christmas traditions as observed across various strands of the Christian faith. Central to our dialogue is the exploration of how these traditions have evolved, as well as their significance in contemporary society. Our esteemed guests, Father Jonathan Resmini, Pastor Dr. Peter Beck, and Professor Chris Moreland, each representing distinct theological perspectives, contribute their insights on the historical context and contemporary practices surrounding Christmas celebrations. As we traverse the past, present, and future of these traditions, we aim to elucidate the shared values that unite us amidst our diverse practices. Ultimately, this episode serves as a reflection on the essence of Christmas, encouraging a deeper understanding and appreciation of the varied ways in which we commemorate this sacred season within the Christian community. The conversation delves into the historical evolution of Christmas celebrations within various Christian traditions, critically examining how the observance has transformed over the centuries. The speakers engage in a rich dialogue about the origins of Christmas, contrasting early Christian practices that prioritized Easter over Christmas, with the later incorporation of festive elements that are now commonplace. They scrutinize the commercialization of the holiday, probing the extent to which secular influences have overshadowed the spiritual significance of Christmas. Furthermore, the episode invites listeners to consider how different denominations observe the holiday, highlighting the diversity of practices while also identifying a shared commitment to honoring the birth of Christ. This examination not only illuminates the complexities of Christmas traditions but also serves as a call to unity among Christians in celebrating the season's profound meaning. In this episode, we confront the contemporary challenges faced by Christians during the Christmas season, particularly the pervasive grumpiness and discontent that often accompanies the holiday festivities. The speakers reflect on their personal experiences with the commercialization of Christmas, lamenting how materialism can detract from the spirit of giving and compassion that should characterize this time of year. They advocate for a return to the foundational values of joy, community, and shared humanity that Christmas embodies, emphasizing the importance of fostering genuine connections with others. The discussion culminates in a call to action, encouraging listeners to engage with individuals from different Christian backgrounds, share stories, and participate in charitable endeavors that reflect the true essence of the season. By doing so, they argue, we can cultivate a more profound sense of unity and purpose that transcends denominational divides, ultimately embodying the spirit of Christmas in our daily lives.Takeaways:Christmas traditions have evolved significantly over the centuries, reflecting diverse theological perspectives across denominations. The importance of community and charity during the Christmas season is emphasized in various Christian traditions.Despite differences in practice, all denominations can find common ground in the celebration of Christ's birth.Understanding the historical context of Christmas celebrations can foster greater unity among different Christian traditions.Engaging with individuals from other denominations can lead to a deeper appreciation of their faith practices.
