Pastor/Dr. David Murphy continues to discuss the Biblical Doctrine of Sanctification, or as Paul says "mortifying the body". We'll begin to see the first two key elements to biblical sanctification:1-Understanding the truth of who you are as a Christian, and2-Required action on part of the believer, with both negative & positive commands
Pastor/Dr. David Murphy discusses the Biblical Doctrine of Sanctification, or as Paul says "mortifying the body". We'll first see that some popular views of sanctification are incorrect, like: the perfectionist view and the victorious life view. Then we'll see that the believer must be actively engaged in Sanctification with the following deductions:1-We must realize who we are and what is true of us as believers: a spirit that's alive, a body that is dead, and the Holy Spirit indwelling.2-Our unredeemed body is the source of our sin problem. We must master and control it.3-We have no obligation to the flesh or to live after it.4-All that pursue the flesh will die, and all that the flesh can offer is death.5-The only obligation the believer has is to the Spirit, Who has a ministry in the believer's life pre-conversion, conversion, and post-conversion. Pre-conversion the Holy Spirit strives, retrains, and convicts the sinner.Post-conversion the Holy Spirit regenerates the believer, baptizes the believer into the body of the church, intercedes for the believer, produces fruit in the believer, and sanctifies the believer.Sanctification involves the working of both the believer and the Holy Spirit in partnership.
I have been thinking and praying about this message for quite some time. It is one of those teachings where I feel the weight early in preparation, as my heart wrestles with what it means for all of us.In this message, we will be in Genesis 5, 10, and 11:10 to 32. Even if you grew up hearing Bible stories and know many of the early Genesis accounts, these chapters may feel less familiar. They can even raise an honest question: why are these passages here at all? That question matters, because the message in these chapters is deeply significant for our church. My prayer is that, as we walk through them together, we will see more clearly what God is saying and respond with open hearts.Pastor Dr. Aaron Weisser
Unfortunately, we had to cut this episode short, but we did get to discuss questions like: What is the true church? Why is the church not obedient to the Law in regards to not eating unclean meat? Are believers given the same Laws as Israel? Why is there so much conflict in the world, and how can it be resolved? Does the Bible contradict itself by saying certain meats are unclean in the Old Testament, but then Paul says all meats are clean in the New Testament? Listen as Pastor/Dr. David Murphy discusses these questions.
When Paul says the Gospel should be preached to every creature under heaven in Colossians 1:23, should this be taken literally? Is it unscriptural for a woman to give a testimony in word in a congregation where men are? Can you explain when God says heaven and earth will pass away but not one drop of tittle of my Word will pass away? In Revelation, where they overcame by the blood and the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, is that that tribulation saints or saints today? Please explain the passage that says women ought to learn in silence or be silent in the church. When Paul says to not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, is someone from a different denomination in Christianity an unbeliever to you - and is it referring to marriage only? Why is addiction growing in Antigua? Can a real Christian be affected by witchcraft? Listen as Pastor/Dr. David Murphy discusses these and other listener questions.

If a pastor pays for a prostitute's time in order to witness to her, is that a correct approach to lead her to Christ? Is blaspheming against the Holy Spirit when an unbeliever does not respond to the striving or wooing of the Holy Spirit? Should you avoid a family member's wedding if you're against the wedding? How can one deal with sadness? How do I know my spiritual gift? Why did Jesus say in John 4:22 that salvation was of the Jews? What should American churches do to help with the ICE situation?

What are your thoughts on the Dead Sea scrolls and the Book of Enoch? Can a Christian commit the unforgiveable sin, and can someone who commits the unforgiveable sin become a Christian? Please explain Titus 3:13. In Genesis 41:55, when the famine covered the face of the earth, was it referring to just the Middle Eastern region? Are there two holy days, Sunday and Saturday? Is it true that in this life that absolutely no one owes you anything? Do you think that God used Joseph's upbringing and time of captivity to train him for economic decisions he made in Egypt? How should Christians apply Jude 3 today? Can a true Christian be deceived? Shouldn't Christians avoid compromise like Moses's refusal to compromise with Pharoah? Has God's Word changed about women preachers? Listen as Pastor/Dr. David Murphy discusses this and other listener questions.
Junger Wein gehört in neue Schläuche. Caught red-handed has to be one of the worst feelings in the world. You did it, there's no denying it, you've been caught. Some of my earliest childhood memories are of getting caught. There is such a clarity in that moment.Up until you're caught, all of your self-deceptions make sense, at least to you. But when you're caught, it all falls apart very quickly. The obvious badness of the bad thing you got caught doing sets in pretty powerfully. And then there's consequences; The bad things that I now owe because of the bad thing that I did. We all want to negotiate consequences. As bad is it may be, we would like to make the case that there was good reason and we are not as to blame as others might think. Also, can you go easy on the consequences? And all of this is part of God's grace toward sin. In this message, we look at God's grace in the midst of painful consequences. Before diving in, take a minute to read through Genesis chapter 3 again.Pastor Dr. Aaron Weisser
Please explain 'our mother from above' in Galatians 4:26. Will we each have different rewards when we get to heaven? What are your thoughts on the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Book of Enoch? How long should the courting stage be? How should a pastor of a church deal with a member with whom he has a dispute - is it ok to confront the issue on the pulpit? How should members be disciplined? Do church members have a say in the affairs of the church? Is Venezuela in Bible prophecy? During evangelism, how should a believer balance staying focused on the Gospel versus debating a false belief or argument against the Bible? How should I respond when I'm laughed at for warning two believers of the opposite sex that they appear too close for comfort and to be watchful, especially if one is married. Can God reveal to someone in the church a conversation I had by myself in my house? Can you expound on 'unequally yoked'? Can you explain the unforgiveable sin, blasphemy of the Holy Spirit? What are the teachings of the Pentecostal church, and are they going to heaven? Listen as Pastor/Dr. David Murphy discusses these and other listener questions.
I am THRILLED to be launching into the book of Genesis again as we kick off a New Year! There are so many foundational truths regarding our purpose, our design, and all the other big WHY questions related to our existence. Take some time to read through the first chapter of Genesis. This is the question I want you to ponder on during this message: If you were in charge, how would you plan for us to spend our days?? What would life look like if you were the Creator of all things!? Pastor Dr. Aaron Weisser
Are the words 'forever' and 'everlasting' to be interpreted literally in the following passages: Exodus 21:6, Numbers 25:13, Jonah 2:6, Isaiah 34:9-10, and 1 Kings 8:12-13? Can a modern author add something to Scripture? Please explain the following verses in light of the temple being rebuilt at some point in the future: Matthew 27:51, John 2:19-21, Hebrews 8:1-2,5, 9:11-12, 10:10-12. Please explain the Scripture that says 'not to seethe a kid in its mother's milk'. Is it possible to hear the voice of God? What is Transcendental Meditation? What is the meaning of 'he that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out'? If the Bible declares that the sins of the whole world were laid on Christ on the cross, then why isn't the whole world saved? If a wife decides to pursue a higher education, is that selfish, and is it abuse if her husband doesn't let her? Is sin always caused by the attacks of Satan? Why is Dionysius called the Areopagite in Acts 17:34? What did Jesus mean when He said, 'this generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled' in Matthew 24:34? Listen as Pastor/Dr. David Murphy answers these and other listener questions.

The discourse presented herein delves into the intricate tapestry of Christmas traditions as observed across various strands of the Christian faith. Central to our dialogue is the exploration of how these traditions have evolved, as well as their significance in contemporary society. Our esteemed guests, Father Jonathan Resmini, Pastor Dr. Peter Beck, and Professor Chris Moreland, each representing distinct theological perspectives, contribute their insights on the historical context and contemporary practices surrounding Christmas celebrations. As we traverse the past, present, and future of these traditions, we aim to elucidate the shared values that unite us amidst our diverse practices. Ultimately, this episode serves as a reflection on the essence of Christmas, encouraging a deeper understanding and appreciation of the varied ways in which we commemorate this sacred season within the Christian community. The conversation delves into the historical evolution of Christmas celebrations within various Christian traditions, critically examining how the observance has transformed over the centuries. The speakers engage in a rich dialogue about the origins of Christmas, contrasting early Christian practices that prioritized Easter over Christmas, with the later incorporation of festive elements that are now commonplace. They scrutinize the commercialization of the holiday, probing the extent to which secular influences have overshadowed the spiritual significance of Christmas. Furthermore, the episode invites listeners to consider how different denominations observe the holiday, highlighting the diversity of practices while also identifying a shared commitment to honoring the birth of Christ. This examination not only illuminates the complexities of Christmas traditions but also serves as a call to unity among Christians in celebrating the season's profound meaning. In this episode, we confront the contemporary challenges faced by Christians during the Christmas season, particularly the pervasive grumpiness and discontent that often accompanies the holiday festivities. The speakers reflect on their personal experiences with the commercialization of Christmas, lamenting how materialism can detract from the spirit of giving and compassion that should characterize this time of year. They advocate for a return to the foundational values of joy, community, and shared humanity that Christmas embodies, emphasizing the importance of fostering genuine connections with others. The discussion culminates in a call to action, encouraging listeners to engage with individuals from different Christian backgrounds, share stories, and participate in charitable endeavors that reflect the true essence of the season. By doing so, they argue, we can cultivate a more profound sense of unity and purpose that transcends denominational divides, ultimately embodying the spirit of Christmas in our daily lives.Takeaways:Christmas traditions have evolved significantly over the centuries, reflecting diverse theological perspectives across denominations. The importance of community and charity during the Christmas season is emphasized in various Christian traditions.Despite differences in practice, all denominations can find common ground in the celebration of Christ's birth.Understanding the historical context of Christmas celebrations can foster greater unity among different Christian traditions.Engaging with individuals from other denominations can lead to a deeper appreciation of their faith practices.
Is hell an eternal conscious torment or like the annihilationist view that non-believers will cease to exist? Will there be literal animal sacrifices in the future temple? When someone commits suicide, does their soul go to heave or hell? Why do mourners say 'may their soul rest in place'? Why can't God comfort those going through depression like He did with Elijah? Is Christmas related to the ancient Roman festival, Saturnalia? What precautions does Pastor Murphy have for someone studying psychology at a secular university? Why did Jesus have to be born of a virgin? How much did Mary know about her child and His future? Was Jesus born on December 25th? What practical help can you offer to deal with stress? Is Judas in hell or heaven since he betrayed Christ and hung himself? Listen as Pastor/Dr. David Murphy discusses these and other listener questions.
In the world today of "Christianity", there is a vital key that is absent within the function of The Bride/The Church - of what The Father calls, "Obedience." Dr. Griffin begins this week by sharing a recent teaching series given by a spiritual daughter, Pastor Dr. Nicolle Blackwood. Prayer by: Pastor Dr. Matthew Blackwood

As a young boy growing up in artsy little Homer, Alaska I too caught the bug and wondered about my ability to make it as an artist. At the ripe old age of nine I drew a pencil sketch of the Space Shuttle Discovery in the upright position and attached to its external tanks. My sketch was approximately 30 inches tall and was of such high caliber, it was temporarily displayed in the Pratt Museum… along with all the other submitted artwork by the Homer elementary age crowd. But it didn't matter. I remembered walking down the hall of the Pratt and seeing my artwork hung on the wall with a name placard below. It was stunning. I couldn't believe that now thousands upon thousands of art lovers would behold my work. I felt such unspeakable pride. And that was the nature of us humans. We wanted our handiwork to be appreciated, to be noticed, to be ooh'd and aah'd over. We liked to see and be seen.As it turned out, God was of a different nature. Most of His glory was completely hidden from our eyes. This week we peeked through the curtain at the vast expansiveness of the hidden glory of God and asked “Why should it matter?” If you have a minute, before you watch, read Genesis one.Pastor Dr. Aaron Weisser

Physicist Stephen Hawking once said, “If we discover the theory of everything, it would be the ultimate triumph of human reason, for then we would know the mind of God.” Yet Hawking himself rejected the idea of a Creator. In this message we take on that question head on: Is it reasonable to believe in God? We look directly at Hawking's arguments and explore what faith and reason reveal about truth, eternity, and the divine.Pastor Dr. Aaron Weisser
How many times have you attempted to capture the expansive view of the Kenai Mountains, opposite Homer across Kachemak Bay, only to be disappointed by the result? Photos just don't seem to convey the grandeur, especially when condensed down to a six inch phone screen. "This picture doesn't really do it justice, but TRUST me, the mountains and the ocean and the sky are amazing to behold!" This Sunday is an exciting moment. We are jumping back to the beginning of the Bible and starting another trek through the story of God and humanity. And along with this is a great challenge: how do I sufficiently convey the grandeur of God's revealed purpose...in a few minutes on a Sunday morning!?! Trust me, it is amazing to behold!Pastor Dr. Aaron Weisser
Mary welcomes first time guest to the podcast Pastor/Dr. Richard Schmidt to discuss current events. Richard has been an avid student of the Word of God for over 45 years. After giving his life to Christ during a Chicago revival meeting, he immediately immersed himself into evangelism and the study of Scripture, graduating with both a B.S. and M.A. in Pastoral Theology/Christian Education. Early in his ministry, Rich traveled with Evangelist Joe Boyd and preached in various churches and venues, including Chicago's Pacific Garden Mission. Upon college graduation and ordination, Rich and his wife, Valori, moved to Milwaukee, WI to church plant. After the church plant was successfully merged with another, Rich joined the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office to support his young family, while simultaneously serving as an Assistant Pastor. He is currently the pastor of Union Grove Baptist Church just south of Milwaukee and an in-demand speaker. Today we chat about the rampant lawlessness in our nation and how we got here politically and prophetically. We also look at the current peace initiative in Israel, and what are we to expect when there's a victory lap going on, but we all know that Israel's enemies haven't truly had a change of heart. We talk about AI, and its troubling encroachment into Europe. China we expect to be a police state, but why are other nations looking so similar? A full hour with a very sharp brother in Christ.
