As a Punk Rocker and Heretic, Louise Distras had to speak out about this! Her views on gender - and trans - ideology differ from the mainstream, and that got her canceled. Mainstream media even tried to change her opinion! Odd, expecting that from a punk rocker. Stay until the end and find out about her reasons and consequences. #trans #genderideology Go check out her Spotify https://open.spotify.com/artist/7mMrM5mQ77w9dDFEXi94Jk?si=ccFDiLhSS9qdIbzYJ8QWow and YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqqV76mD7gjr8Xo7kKcI3Lw Follow her on X https://twitter.com/LouiseDistras Andrew on X: https://twitter.com/andrewgold_ok Insta: https://www.instagram.com/andrewgold_ok Heretics YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@andrewgoldheretics Support on Locals: http://andrewgold.locals.com/ Learn more about your ad choices. On today's show, Louise discusses how she was recently banned by the music platform Bandcamp for expressing her views on trans activism in relation to women's rights. The platform not only canceled her account but also revoked all of her earnings. GUEST OVERVIEW: Louise Distras is an English singer songwriter who taught herself to play violin at an early age. She later learned to play guitar by bunking off school and smoking cigarettes and listening to Nirvana's debut album Bleach.

Louise Distras has always made her music with a progressive mindset. New visions, new influences, new collaborations and new ways of doing things. I think she's challenged the way that we behave when we're on our own and when we're part of groups and also the way movements have a tendency to institutionalise themselves the longer they exist and create unspoken rules for how we live our life, how we make music, what we sing about and how we sing it. It's interesting to explore why self-interest always seems to rise to the top. In many ways, Louise makes me think of Chumbawamba. Not the accent

I edited this ages ago and I'm shit. Soz. This is our first "live special", in as much as we are reviewing a live gig, specifically steampunk-punk band The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing, supported by Louise Distras. They're great, and we decide as much here. Please enjoy.

Punk singer songwriter Louise Distras drops by 'My Classic Album' to chat with Mike about Nirvana's debut album 'Bleach'. Thanks to a mix tape from a friend as a teenager, Louise was introduced to songs from 'Bleach'; songs which resonated strongly with her and inspired Louise to pick up a guitar for the first time. Why was 'About A Girl' deemed a risk to include on the album? Does 'Negative Creep' have a thrash metal influence? Which bonus track available on some editions of the album is actually a highlight of 'Bleach' for Louise? In a Rebellion-themed special edition, Garry is joined by punk ukulele-pluckers the Pukes, who have risen from London pub strummers to festival stalwarts. There are brand new songs from the Old Firm Casuals and The Boys, the new single from Louise Distras and quality tracks from Operation Two Fold, Infa-Riot, Madball, Section 60, Speakeasy and the Skoisters. Of course no show would be complete without some 2-Tone nostalgia, this time from The Selecter. Her voice sounds like an angel caught in a mantrap – or maybe, pulled backwards through a cheese grater. There’s a raw emotional honesty to Brit punk sensation Louise Distras that some might even find too intense... which would be a terrible shame - because on tonight’s GBS, Louise sings four superb live tracks for us from her forthcoming album Dreams From The Factory Floor that are nothing less than unmissable. Bold, brainy and ballsy, Louise Distras represents nothing less than the rebirth of British punk; reinvented for a new generation. Writing her own material, Louise is taking the UK – and soon America - by storm. For a world grown flatulent on the pabulum of Simon Cowell’s X Factor synth-pop, Louise might be far too incandescent, all too real. But you know what? She couldn’t care less. “The X Factor is not a talent show”, says Louise. “It’s a show where people go on a stage and others laugh at them. It celebrates a culture of bullying. And that culture of bullying filters down into everyday life.” You heard Louise here first, on Radio Litopia’s GBS. Pass it on.
