Mighty Mike McGee is a poet, a humorist, an exceptional friend, and the former Poet Laureate of Santa Clara County (among other things.) His profound love of words, art, and human connection pours out of him and fills up every crevice in every conversation you have with him. In this particular conversation, Mike tells us what it's like to be the Poet Laureate, how achieving a lifelong dream of touring changed his life in surprising ways, and reminds us that we are simply doing the best we can. This episode is different than any episode I've recorded so far. Do yourself a favor- grab your headphones, sit back, and listen to Mike be the inspirational wordsmith we all need to hear.

We’re in for the long haul on this week’s episode as Mitch guides the gang through a discussion about deal makers and breakers. Kirk makes a lame joke, then Lauren destroys him with a better one, Kirk tries the same thing with Todd but Todd updates Kirk on proper concert heckling, Kirk strikes out again and Mitch makes it extra weird so everyone wins, then Mitch keeps making it weirder, Kirk gets awkward with some girls at the bar, Lauren breaks down drunk girl minds, Mitch and Todd take a minute to talk about birthday privilege, big bald guys are not always white supremacists, the awkward story gets drawn out WAY too long and goes to a dark place, we FINALLY get around to the meat of the episode, Lauren gives a stock answer, Todd gives a foodie answer, Mitch addresses Kirk by his first name and it gets weird, Kirk gives a chemist’s answer, Mitch hits us with Urban Dictionary, LET THE GAMES BEGIN! More mind basement jokes, Lauren calls out Todd’s insecurities about size, Todd likes travel duh, Kirk is so over Wing Dicks, Todd likes learning the best, well timed NFL jokes, Lauren already has a tv guide, Lauren’s already a photographer, cardboard jokes on cardboard jokes, sound board privileges are a real thing, Kirk loves all the sarcasm, pizza is the true key, Mitch’s segment is more full of sounds than answers, and the moral of the story is that Mitch made the game but ended up losing, Kirk can’t stop with the Price is Right references, the gang pulls together and gives their perfect deal makers, then actual discussion about dating, pro/con lists are not great, tennis matches are not much better, is cursing a real deal maker though? More legitimate discussion on dating, we’re getting good at this! INTERMISSION Lauren is real good at speaking extemporaneously on the spot…. not, deal breakers are fun to define, Kirk can’t do the Trump voice, Todd bails him out, Mitch lays more Urban Dictionary on us, Mitch is trying so hard to dance around the idea of having kids being a deal breaker, white trash wonderland reference, Todd’s not down for someone that lives in the past, just don’t talk too much about your ex’s, ANOTHER white trash wonderland reference, the bearded bandit has finally been taken off the streets! For a podcast that’s about relationships we talk about murder too much, Kirk is all about those double standards, LAUREN IS DOWN WITH DOG MURDER IF YOU JUST DON’T TALK ABOUT IT, Lauren is killing the inappropriate jokes today, let’s get political, real deep How I Met Your Mother reference, deep Canada burn, deeper USA burn, the gang is just looking super not intelligent at the moment, but if she smokes she definitely pokes, Todd ruins the whole episode with one single scientific realization, Kirk doesn’t pay attention, The Mighty Mike McGee is fucking awesome, the gang is not nearly as cultured as me like you to believe, people aren’t born with deal breakers-they have to be learned, NFL fan base jokes abound, this just in-Todd is closed minded, thanks Lauren, don’t ever bring negativity into the bedroom, you CAN do it with enough lube, but right back to legitimate commentary, surprisingly no one said dealy makers up to this point, now tons of ridiculous deal breakers from the audience, THIRD REFERENCE TO WHITE TRASH WONDERLAND, more ridiculous deal breakers, OMG 4 REFERENCES NOW!!! Things get awkward in the family. Outro music provided by the Wizzyqigs
