Join us on the Align Podcast for an illuminating conversation with Marianne Williamson, author, spiritual leader, and two-time presidential candidate, as she shares her profound insights on a range of critical topics. From understanding the teachings of Jesus in today's world to discussing America's addiction to fear, the struggles within our society, lessons from her presidential campaigns, pervasive American conspiracy theories, and the question of whether governments can regain lost trust. Marianne Williamson brings her unique perspective, blending spiritual wisdom with sharp political analysis. This episode offers deep dives into how ancient teachings can help us navigate modern challenges, the psychological underpinnings of societal fears, and what it truly takes to mend the fractured trust between governments and the people. ========== OUR GUEST ========== For more than four decades, Marianne Williamson has been a leader in spiritual and religiously progressive circles. She is the author of 15 books, four of which have been #1 New York Times best sellers. A quote from the mega-bestseller A Return to Love, “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure…” is considered an anthem for a contemporary generation of seekers. Williamson founded Project Angel Food, a non-profit organization that has delivered more than 16 million meals to ill and dying homebound patients in the Los Angeles area since 1989. The group was created to help people suffering from the ravages of HIV/AIDS. She has also worked throughout her career on poverty, anti-hunger and racial reconciliation issues. In 2004, she co-founded The Peace Alliance and supported the creation of a U.S. Department of Peace. Williamson ran for the democratic nomination for the Presidency of the United States in both 2020 and 2024. In May of 2024 Williamson's latest book was published by HarperOne, titled THE MYSTIC JESUS: The Mind of Love. ==================== MARIANNE WILLIAMSON ====================

In this episode, I rant about the all-important question that Jesus put to His followers in Matthew 16: Who do you say that I am? Most modern Christians have created a Jesus that looks strikingly similar to the person they see every day when they look in the mirror. Jesus is like me. He likes what I like. He affirms what I affirm. He approves of what I approve. Only, he isn't like us.
This week we launched a new series called Modern Jesus. Jesus was a young carpenter who later became a Jewish Rabbi who lived on the other side of the world over 2000 years ago. So why should we continue to follow Him today? How can he possibly still be relevant today? So much time has passed, and Jesus has only grown more influential, not less. Ronnie mentioned this weekend, Jesus surrounded himself with the people on the margins, like the social outcasts and sinners. Jesus changed the culture he walked into and disrupted the pious legalism that was enforced by the religious authorities of the day.
